Livre Monroe, a devout believer of the Seven Gods, a synonym for allure and beauty, Klein Moretti's loving mother, the dream girl of the North Continent, and the most dazzling flower of Backlund!
"My favorite flower is the lily because, like me, it can be both beautiful to look at and edible."
Livre said so.
Chapter 1 Beware of the Moon
In 1347, in the Kingdom of Rune, in the city of Tingen.
Reeve opened his eyes in the darkness.
What came into view was a pale, bluish face. This face quickly lost its color, becoming cold and twisted. The short black hair grew outwards and spread, turning into slippery, black tentacles.
Levi gasped: he recognized the face completely; it was his own.
"Mirror?"
A chilling light flashed across the mirror's surface, like ripples on water, giving Levi a sudden realization. He was facing a mirror with silver-edged patterns, watching his body undergo strange changes—
Slippery tentacles grew from the tips of hair, growing longer and longer, twisting and turning like venomous snakes, their ends constantly wriggling, growing into snake heads with eyes glowing red.
Gradually, the tentacles slowly wrapped around his body, his neck, chest, abdomen, and between his legs, tightening little by little, causing him a suffocating pain.
"Help……"
Levi cried out for help helplessly, but no sound came out of his throat. Only a series of ethereal laughs rang out, alluring yet tinged with a deep-seated fear.
At that moment, as if receiving a command, the tentacles simultaneously reached towards his lower body, opened their fang-filled snake mouths, and bit down hard!
A piercing pain suddenly struck!
"Ahhhhh!!"
Levi woke up with a start, sitting up abruptly in bed, panting heavily.
In the darkness, a cold wind blew in through the dilapidated window, causing him, who was covered in cold sweat, to shiver involuntarily.
The dream he just had was so real that he was still experiencing phantom pain in his lower body.
He quickly reached out and touched it; thankfully, it was still there.
"I've been in this godforsaken place for half a year now, and I've had similar dreams countless times..."
Levi sighed, still feeling lingering fear as he recalled the nightmares he had experienced over the past six months.
His real name is Li Wei, an ordinary college student from the Great Foodie Country, who was transported to this world while visiting a temple in Thailand.
Then, he took over the original owner's soul and became Rivi Garcia. Unlike other protagonists, Rivi had no cheat codes, no system, was orphaned, came from a poor family, and could only live in a slum like Iron Cross Street with his brother and his brother's fiancée.
Aside from his fairly handsome appearance and quick wit, he had nothing.
However, despite their poverty, Jason worked hard to support his studies at the Tingen Technical School.
Jason's fiancée, Emily, a mechanical engineering student at the Technical University of Tingen, often tutored him and took good care of him. Thus, despite their poverty, Levi gradually built up some precious family bonds in this unfamiliar world.
"I just don't know when I'll be able to go back, to return to my hometown..."
Levi sighed, and just then, the old window creaked open.
Reflexively, Levi reached under his pillow and grabbed the dagger he used for self-defense. At the same time, he turned his head warily and saw a dark figure quickly flash in through the window and leap to his side, moving so fast that his eyes could not keep up.
Just as Levi was about to open his mouth, a cold arm wrapped around his neck, and two soft mounds pressed against his back.
"Don't move!"
A somewhat affected female voice came from behind.
A complex expression flashed across Reeves' eyes.
He took a breath, darted out of the arms wrapped around his neck, and quickly turned around, staring intently at the woman with a mocking smile. She was tall, with a fair and beautiful face, and her long, golden, wavy hair shone brightly in the night. Her breasts were particularly firm and attractive.
Reeves suddenly threw a punch, hitting the woman in the chest, and complained:
"Jason, can you stop being so childish!"
The "woman" burst into laughter, yanked off her golden wig, and removed the human skin mask covering her face, revealing a face similar to Levi's—it was Levi's brother, Jason.
"Revi, you hit me too hard! What if you break my livelihood?"
Jason smiled and took out two wads of cotton-wrapped cloth from his chest, stroking them affectionately as he spoke in a clear male voice.
"Who told you to scare me so late at night... I've told you so many times, knock on the window before you come home at night..."
Reeve continued to complain, but his voice grew softer and softer. After all, Jason did those shady jobs for the family and often came home so late. He had no right to criticize his brother.
"Hmm, how did the mission go?"
He changed the subject and asked about his brother's work.
"Things went fairly smoothly, and... I got what you wanted!"
As Jason took off his women's clothing, he proudly pulled out several yellowed pages of notes from the pocket of his underwear.
"You actually got your hands on Emperor Roselle's notes!"
Reeve took the paper with delight, and at a glance, the familiar, square handwriting jumped out at him.
"It really is in Chinese!"
Instantly, the strings of his heart, which were called his hometown, were touched, and he felt his eyes welling up with tears.
Shortly after his arrival in the world, Revi realized that Emperor Roselle might be a time traveler, but his notes were extremely rare; even handwritten copies were not something an ordinary person could obtain.
Later, one night, Levi ran into Jason, who was dressed as a woman and had sneaked home. After much questioning, Jason finally told Levi the truth: he had become an Extraordinary, a Sequence 9 assassin, working for a secret organization, and often dressed as a woman to complete some shady missions.
Jason also taught Reeves some knowledge about extraordinary beings. Reeves wasn't surprised; he picked it up very quickly. After all, he had transmigrated to this world. It would be strange if this world didn't have some amazing things!
However, Jason rejected Reeves' idea of becoming an Extraordinary, saying it was a very dangerous path. Reeves didn't insist, but instead asked Jason to find Emperor Roselle's diary, hoping to find a way to become an Extraordinary from his notes.
After several months of effort, the notes written in Chinese by his fellow countryman Russell finally reached Reeves' hands.
"Take your time reading. Remember to turn on the gas lamp so you don't hurt your eyes. I'll change my clothes and then go find Emily."
Jason neatly packed the women's clothing he had taken off into a box, preparing to put it into Revy's wardrobe.
Emily knew nothing about the extraordinary world, nor about Jason's work—this was Jason's way of protecting her; some things, simply knowing them, meant danger.
Levi nodded in agreement and, with great excitement, began to read the yellowed paper:
"December 29th, another new year is almost here."
"All the mausoleums have been built; there's no turning back now."
"I think I'm not the only time traveler in this world."
"If anyone can still understand my diary, remember to carefully choose your extraordinary path."
"Once this is determined, it also means that your allies and your enemies are roughly determined as well."
"I can't offer any specific suggestions because I can't see the Seven Gods clearly, nor can I see the true faces of those evil gods. This may be related to part of the contents of the second 'Blasphemy Tablet' hidden by that ancient organization. Unfortunately, I can only guess that there is a hidden part, and I can't confirm it."
Similarly, I don't know what was written on the first 'blasphemous stone tablet'.
"A useful piece of advice is to avoid choosing a path where the position of sequence 0 is already occupied, and to be careful of sequences 0 and 1 that are close to each other. I suffered a lot from this."
"As for what sequence 0 represents, if you don't know yet, remember to collect my other diaries."
"Hehe, this page is like the epilogue of my life. If I succeed, then it will be a divine rebirth, another story. If I fail, then there will be no aftermath. I guess, um, you know what I mean."
"Go, my friend who can read my diary, go and explore the secret of our time travel and the truth hidden within it. I will be watching you, if I am still alive."
"One last reminder, please remember this:"
"Watch out for the moon!"
"Watch out for the moon..."
Levi pondered the sentence repeatedly, something seemed to be vaguely emerging in his mind, and a chill ran through his heart.
Suddenly, he felt something and abruptly turned his head to look at the red moon outside the window.
Under the crimson moonlight, a pale face was pressed against the window, its bulging eyes staring intently into the room.
Chapter 2 Survival
In that instant, Levi felt his blood run cold, and he called out in a trembling voice:
"Jason, there's someone outside the window!"
Jason, who was stuffing clothes into the closet, paused for a moment and quickly turned to face the window.
But just as Jason turned around, a sharp crack rang out, and the window that wasn't closed properly shattered, sending countless shards of glass flying. A burly man with a deathly pale face jumped in. He was at least 1.9 meters tall, and his skin was so wrinkled that he looked like a corpse that had been soaking in water for days.
However, his movements were extremely fast. As soon as he landed on the ground, he rolled forward using the momentum and flashed in front of Jason, then swung out a fist the size of a baby's head.
boom!
Jason was thrown backward as if hit in the face by a shot put, crashing heavily into the wardrobe. Black blood from his nose and two teeth flew out at once, and the intense pain made him almost lose consciousness for a moment.
The burly man gave Jason no chance to catch his breath, using the force of the impact to knock Jason to the ground, straddle him, and then rained punches down on Jason's head.
However, just as the burly man unleashed two punches, he heard the sound of metal slicing through the air behind him, and a sharp pain shot through his back.
He turned his head angrily and saw the thin Reeves holding a sharp dagger, which was stuck in his back.
Reeve twisted the blade hard, trying to use its rotation to break the muscle, but it felt like a knife stuck in soft mud. He took a step back and pulled the knife out, but not much blood came out, as if the strong man was just a bloodless corpse.
"He is also an extraordinary being!"
Levi's heart sank. He felt that the strong man's abilities were very similar to the corpse collector that Jason had described. The extraordinary ones on this path deal with corpses and spirits for a long time. Their bodies are gradually strengthened by the power of death, and they have strength and physique far beyond ordinary people. In this narrow space, it would be difficult to gain any advantage over him!
The burly man was clearly not fatally injured. He abandoned Jason, who was lying motionless on the ground, and rushed towards Reeves. He reached out and grabbed Reeves by the collar. Before Reeves could swing his dagger again, the burly man lifted him into the air and then slammed him to the ground.
With a loud bang, Levi landed face-first on the ground, feeling dizzy and nauseous, snot and blood gushing down his face. Luckily, his family could only afford a house with wooden floors; if it had been a concrete floor, the impact might have killed him.
The burly man took a few deep breaths, stepped on Rivi's back, then bent down, grabbed Rivi's arms, and yanked them back sharply. The cracking sound of dislocated joints rang out, and Rivi's head was forced back, a painful growl seeping from his clenched teeth.
The burly man revealed a cruel smile, increasing the pressure in his hand. In a few more moments, he would be able to break Levi's arm, turning him into a cripple.
Just then, a cold glint suddenly appeared beneath the burly man's feet! Jason, who had been lying on the ground, suddenly sprang up silently, and a cold arc flashed by—the sharp dagger precisely severed the burly man's ankle!
The burly man screamed, losing his balance and collapsing to the ground. His bulging eyes flashed with a reckless rage. He released Levi and reached for his breast pocket. At the same time, Jason nimbly leaped high into the air, activating his assassin's ability to find weaknesses and deliver a fatal blow. His dagger, sharp as a sword, plunged towards the burly man's neck.
*Thud!* The dagger pierced the burly man's carotid artery. At the same time, the burly man pulled a revolver from his pocket and pulled the trigger at Jason's chest.
With a loud bang, smoke filled the air.
Levi struggled to his feet and turned to look. He saw a dagger stuck in the neck of the burly man, whose mountain-like body collapsed to the ground with a thud. His bulging eyes looked like those of a dead fish, having lost their last bit of life.
"Jason... are you... are you alright?"
Reeve quickly looked at Jason, who was standing beside the burly man's body, one hand hanging limply at his side, the other clutching his chest, his face pale.
The next second, gushing blood flowed from his chest, quickly soaking a large part of his clothes.
"Jason!"
Levi cried out in grief and indignation. Just then, the door creaked open, and a young woman with a round, sweet face cautiously peeked in.
"What happened?"
The newcomer was Emily, who saw Jason's blood gushing out.
Emily gasped and ran toward Jason, but Jason's body collapsed limply like a straw in a storm.
"Jason, what's wrong!"
Emily cradled Jason's head with one hand, large tears streaming down her face, mingling with the blood on his chest.
Jason gave a wry smile and said tremblingly:
"They still found out..."
Then, he turned his head with difficulty to look at Reeves:
"Run! Take my suitcase with you, quick..."
