Crossover: A Different Inuyasha
Page 36
She looked up at the sky above, which was somewhat whitened by the sunlight, her tone filled with worry.
“If this continues, this year’s harvest will be lower, which will affect both Yoshikyo’s self-sufficiency and the expansion of the Nine-Nine Toad.”
Kaede looked at Inuyasha, who had stopped doggy-pawing, and spoke with some longing.
"If only we could know when the rain will come and how much it will come, then we would know what to expect and the problem of food would no longer be a problem."
"Climate issue?"
Inuyasha raised his head from the water and wiped the water droplets from his face.
Her silver hair clung damply to her cheeks and neck, making Feng glance at her a few more times.
Men are lustful, and women are lustful too; they are the same species and there is not much difference between them.
"I've been with you guys for over a month, and I almost forgot I was supposed to go out and catch monsters."
"Women have truly ruined me."
Under Feng's speechless gaze, Inuyasha continued, "I happen to have a few decent demons here, the kind that can control wind, rain, thunder, and lightning. I'll catch them for you when the time comes."
Upon hearing this, Feng's eyes lit up. "Then what are we waiting for? Let's go catch them!"
"Eh."
The silver-haired half-demon spread his hands and shook his head. "You woman, you're so eager when you need me, but you kick me aside when you don't. That's really going too far."
What are you babbling about?
Maple is different from Jieluo.
She couldn't be bothered to tolerate Er Gouzi's arrogance and urged him, "Go and come back quickly, the fields at home are waiting for you."
Inuyasha smirked.
"A beautiful and responsible shrine maiden!"
"When you say 'field,' do you mean the farmland outside, or the field in the yard?"
Feng was taken aback. He watched as the half-demon made a hand gesture and immediately sank into the water, letting the cool pool water cover his chin.
Only a pair of embarrassed and annoyed eyes were visible as they watched the half-demon rubbing his hands as he approached.
"I won't go if you don't tell me."
"...Yes, you have them all, you bastard!"
Deep in the canyon, jagged rocks abound.
The cliffs on both sides rise straight into the sky as if cleaved by a knife and axe, and the rock walls are covered with scorched marks from being burned by lightning.
The dark clouds overhead hung so low they almost pressed against the mountain ridgeline, and lightning crackled and flashed in the depths of the clouds, appearing and disappearing amidst the dark curtain.
Each flash was followed by a deep, thunderous roar, so loud that the pebbles beneath their feet trembled slightly.
The patriarch of the Thunder Beast clan traveled between the clouds and the cliffs.
It was a tall, slender man with a neat ponytail that was pulled straight behind him by the wind.
He was covered in armor, the dark silver plates gleaming with a cold metallic luster under the electric light, and the edges of the shoulder armor were decorated with fine lightning patterns that undulated slightly with his flight.
He held a lightning strike gun as long as his body in his hand, its tip crackling with fine blue-white arcs of electricity.
Slightly to his side, a swirling thundercloud hovered low.
A female thunder beast stood on the cloud, her figure being about half a body shorter than the male thunder beast.
The head's outline resembled a mouse, with smooth lines and soft edges, appearing somewhat out of place amidst the rolling electric light.
The thunderclouds surrounding her expanded and contracted slightly with her breath, occasionally releasing a few fine arcs of electricity, but these were much gentler than the violent aura surrounding the male thunder beast.
She gazed at the canyon exit torn open by lightning, a hint of worry flashing in her eyes.
"The head of the household."
"We are at a disadvantage in terms of strength. Do we really have to confront the Calamity Clan?"
The Thunder Beast Chieftain fell silent, gazing into the distance—beyond Thunder Valley.
The horizon there is being tainted by a demonic aura that does not belong to the Thunder Beast.
Aggressive and leaving no room for compromise.
He looked away and gripped the lightning gun in his hand tightly.
The electric arcs on the gun pulsed, illuminating the old scar on his face that stretched from his eyebrow to his jaw, and also the unwavering resolve in his eyes.
"The enemy has already reached the entrance of Thunder Valley." The Thunder Beast Chieftain spoke, his voice low and hoarse from the thunder, yet it pierced clearly through the clamor of wind and lightning.
"For the Thunder Beast Clan, for Flying Sky and Full Sky, this battle... there is no turning back!"
Swallowing her words about a strategic shift, the female thunder beast's face hardened.
Without this ancestral land of thunderclouds, the growth of thunder beasts will decline drastically, like a soaring eagle with broken wings.
At the same time, what's even more terrifying for monsters is the reputation of fleeing without a fight.
A bolt of lightning struck, illuminating the rocky ground in a ghastly white light for a moment before plunging it into darkness.
In the brief interval between the lightning and thunder, two figures disappeared into the clouds.
Chapter 56 Fighting for Life
Outside Thunder Valley, scorched earth covered the land.
The air was thick with the stench of blood and burnt flesh, and the corpses of the Thunder Beasts lay scattered on the ground ravaged by lightning and fire.
Two figures were entrenched in the center of the corpse.
Two upper bodies emerged from the same thick snake tail, one with fair, handsome skin and the other with strong, orange skin, their lower bodies tightly intertwined like twin giant vines.
Silver Calamity was using its fingers to cut a bloody piece of liver from the corpse of a Thunder Beast, holding it up to its eyes and biting down.
"really!"
"The demonic power contained in the Thunder Beast's liver can enhance my strength!"
Fine blue-white arcs of electricity crackled and popped around Yin Huo's body, like countless jubilant little snakes slithering across his skin.
The lightning illuminated his eyes, which were filled with an almost manic sense of satisfaction.
On the other side, Jin Huo was not to be outdone.
If Yin Huo becomes powerful in a short period of time, he himself will be the one to suffer.
The Calamity Clan is born with two heads.
The stronger one should have killed the other shortly after birth.
However, because their strengths were similar, neither of them killed the other; they could only injure each other but not kill each other. The brothers fell asleep and woke up at the same time, and fought each other every day.
Jin Huo tore open the flesh of another corpse, pulled out a large piece of dark red liver, and stuffed it into his mouth, blood and all, chewing it greedily.
The orange skin appeared even brighter under the alternating light of fire and electricity.
"Jin Huo, you still won't give up."
"With the help of the Thunder Beast, my strength has increased even more! In this Thunder Valley filled with thunderclouds, I will surely kill you today!"
"If I sweep through the Thunder Beast clan's inventory and forge weapons, I can become the clansman most valued by Lady Nuwa!"
Silver Calamity laughed heartily and pounced on Gold Calamity.
Having spent decades together, Jin Huo, having anticipated this, turned his head away.
He opened his mouth and spat out orange-red flames that rushed toward Silver Calamity's face, the heat wave causing the surrounding bloodstains to steam.
A burst of electricity exploded between the five fingers of the Silver Calamity.
The blue-white lightning met the flames, colliding in mid-air to create a blinding burst of light. The electricity and fire intertwined, exploding into a scorching shockwave.
The two were pushed backward by the recoil, and then pulled back to their original positions by the snake tails that were shared by their lower bodies.
The body was twisted into a comical yet dangerous posture while being wrapped up.
Like two wild beasts tied together by a rope, neither can escape the other.
Suddenly, the two of them looked at Thunder Valley at the same time, and a disdainful smile appeared on their lips.
"You bastard—!"
A thunderous roar echoed as the Thunder Beast Chieftain, his body crackling with electricity, swooped down from mid-air, his Thunder Strike Spear flashing with a blinding white light, angrily thrusting towards Jin Huo's face.
He remembered the tradition of the Calamity Clan—twins were natural enemies, and he plotted to kill one of them first, and then fight the other to the death.
The spear tip pierced the air, and Jin Huo was forced to dodge as flames burst from his mouth and burned back at him.
The Thunder Beast Chieftain dodged the flames, his spear sweeping across, aiming straight for the Golden Calamity's neck.
Lightning and flames collided at extremely close range, creating a scorching shockwave.
"Hey, hey, hey, you only attack Jin Huo and not me? Do you not take me seriously?!"
The silver calamity was surrounded by a burst of lightning.
"The Golden Calamity—only I can kill it!"
"He's just a piece of food waiting to be slaughtered. Who do you think you are? You dare to touch him?!"
Before the Thunder Beast Chieftain could react, a blue-white lightning bolt as thick as an arm had already pierced through his vision.
Lei Guang's target was his wife, who was trying to flank him from the side and join the attack.
The Thunder Beast Chieftain didn't even have time to react and could only watch helplessly.
The female thunder beast was riding the thunderclouds as it approached from low altitude, its mouth wide open, golden lightning just a breath away from striking the back of Jin Huo's head—but Yin Huo's lightning was a step faster than her.
Lightning pierced through her chest.
Jin Huo laughed incessantly, "Look! This is what happens when you offend us!"
The last thing reflected in the female thunder beast's eyes, now clear from the lightning, was the thunder beast chieftain's face, contorted with grief.
'The head of the household... is now in your hands...'
With her last breath, she held her head still, her mouth agape—a burst of lightning, thick as a python and blindingly white, shot from her throat, striking the still-laughing Jin Huo with devastating force.
The lightning bolt pierced through the twins' chests, blasting open a charred crack.
Flames suddenly erupted from his body and then abruptly went out, like a bonfire extinguished by a downpour, swirling smoke dissipating into the night wind.
He let out a muffled roar, his snake body arched up suddenly and then went limp, his whole body tilting to one side. If it weren't for the silver calamity holding him back, he would have fallen from the sky long ago.
"Golden Calamity—!"
"You two beasts, die!"
Before the Thunder Beast Chieftain could give him any time to react, the electric arc at the tip of the Thunder Strike Gun suddenly surged to several feet in length, wrapped in lightning like a ignited meteor, and crashed into the Silver Calamity that was blocking the Golden Calamity.
As long as he relentlessly attacks the location of the Golden Calamity, the Silver Calamity will be forced to struggle between protecting its brothers and attacking the enemy.
The gunshots flashed like lightning, like a torrential downpour.
Although the lightning of the Silver Calamity was violent, it was always confined to the area protecting the Golden Calamity. Every time it tried to create distance to counterattack, it was forced back to its original position by the Thunder Beast Chieftain's even more frantic, life-or-death attacks.
The latter are not easy to get along with. The ferocity of thunder and the brute force of beasts make up the Thunder Beast clan, which is not an unknown force in the demon realm.
The two fought fiercely amidst the scorched earth and the air, with flashes of lightning occasionally streaking across the dark clouds above, and thunderous roars being drawn down.
Lightning and thunder exploded, sending rubble flying like rain, and demonic power swept through the sand and gravel.
Silver Calamity could no longer hold on. It was struck in the shoulder armor by a spear from the Thunder Beast Chieftain and only stopped when it crashed into the charred rocks on the ground.
He propped himself up on the cracked rock and looked up to see Jin Huo lying prostrate on the ground, blood spilling from his mouth, the flames on his body barely burning.
The Thunder Beast Chieftain was raising his Thunder Strike Spear and walking towards them step by step.
"hateful!"
