Old Ivan felt his hands trembling.
“Alright, tell me,” Louis crouched down. “Jiang Zhengge, where are they?”
"Get out of here, you traitor!" Ivan cursed angrily.
"What a bastard..."
Louis shook his head, then punched Ivan in the face.
Ivan was knocked to the ground and then rolled over with force.
opportunity!
He broke free from the restraints behind his back, used his shoulders to push, and rolled down the slope!
He heard the rebels shouting, gritted his teeth, and let the stones break his limbs as he rolled all the way to the bottom of the slope, then took off running into the black pine forest.
"Cough...cough cough cough..."
As he ran, old Ivan pulled a walkie-talkie from his inside shirt pocket and shouted:
"Section Chief Jiang! My location is the airport! Locate me! Locate..."
"Oh!"
Gunshots rang out, and Ivan felt everything go black before his eyes. The world then scattered like snowflakes, drifting away with his rising consciousness.
He fell onto a pile of decaying leaves and lay motionless.
"..."
Louis walked slowly over, a gun in his hand, his eyes cold and stern.
Old Ivan's head was split open at the back, and red and white fluid was seeping out.
This shot will not cause pain.
Louis's gaze swept across the ground and he quickly spotted the walkie-talkie.
He kicked the walkie-talkie away, then pressed the earpiece:
"The criminal has been killed. He was just a peripheral figure and didn't know Jiang Zhengge's location."
"Received." The fraternity's contact replied perfunctorily in Russian.
Louis lowered his hand, stared down at old Ivan's corpse, and murmured:
"Why do you all trust Jiang Zhengge so much...?"
A sudden, sharp pain shot through his temple, and the voice in his head began to whisper once more:
"Hehehe...you're manipulating the situation...that's right..."
......
"Old Jiang, we've received intelligence from our informant."
"Yes, I received it too."
Under the small awning, next to a burning paint bucket, Jiang Zhengge was smoking.
Looking at the light rain pattering outside the shed, he exhaled a puff of white breath.
“Old Ivan was killed by Louis’s men,” Jiang Zhengge said. “Coincidentally, he was executed near the Mercury Society’s secret airport. Before he was killed, he did his best to pass on the intelligence to us.”
"..."
Lin Chen had never met this informant; he only learned about him indirectly from Jiang Zhengge.
But for some reason, he felt a strange, indescribable heaviness rising in his heart.
In places he couldn't see, there were always people fighting.
"May he rest in peace," Lin Chen said softly.
“We can’t let him down,” Jiang Zhengge said. “His granddaughter is still in St. Peter’s Town. The old man didn’t have any great wishes in his life, he just hoped that this lousy place wouldn’t be ruined.”
"Ah."
Lin Chen nodded vigorously:
"Thanks to the old man's intelligence, our operation can begin ahead of schedule."
“We have an absolute first-mover advantage,” Jiang Zhengge said. “If we are fast enough, the Mercury Society members won’t even be able to escape.”
Jiang Zhengge turned his head and looked at Oswald:
"Os, maybe tonight, I can get my revenge for you too."
Oswald did not speak.
Lin Chen sized up the black-clad gentleman in front of him. He rarely looked at him from such close range before, and only now did he notice that there seemed to be some burn marks under the bandages covering his face.
“Hmm.” Oswald responded simply to Jiang Zhengge.
Jiang Zhengge patted Oswald on the shoulder, then pressed the earpiece:
"Bone Flower, how's the plan progressing?"
"Coordination in all aspects has been completed."
On the ocean liner, everyone stood in front of the clue board, surrounding Hua Molan.
"Let me state the premise first: since the Mercury Society anticipated our actions and decided to destroy the entire town of St. Peters in advance to buy time, we must take St. Peters as quickly as possible."
Hua Molan patted the clue board:
"Reinforcements will arrive soon. We have plenty of troops this time, so we are focused on speed."
"The sequence of actions is simple: take down the airport, parachute in, control St. Peter's town, and raid the orphanage."
"The Rapid Response Division 1 will be directly responsible for the raid on the orphanage, while the main battlefield can be left to the Armed Division 1."
Hua Molan looked at Li Zhanyi and Lucy:
"Zhanyi, Lucy, Black Sword, once you have air superiority, parachute directly into the orphanage and force your way in."
"Received!" Li Zhanyi had been itching to speak for a while.
"I'm all excited!" Hua Luori clenched her little fists.
“Mm.” Lucy simply nodded.
Since learning that the orphanage was her target, Lucy has hardly spoken.
Seeing that Lucy was in a low mood, Li Zhanyi reached out and gently rubbed her shoulder:
"Sister Lucy..."
“I’m fine,” Lucy looked up and smiled at Li Zhanyi. “Don’t worry about me.”
"Lucy, is there anything you'd like to add?" Hua Molan asked Lucy.
"There's only one thing."
Lucy turned her head and said in a deep voice:
"We must be worried about Lavasis."
"He is dangerous, more dangerous than you can imagine."
......
Chapter Forty-Three Orphanage
"These boxes will come with me directly, while the others will all be transported by water. These need to be kept safe."
"Ok."
"Sigh... After surviving in this wretched place for so many years, I've finally made it through..."
At the entrance of the orphanage, Lavasis suddenly raised his hand with some excitement:
"Guys! Ready to soak up the sun on the LA coastline? Super America is about to be ours again!"
"Hurrah! Hurrah!" The members of the Black Pine Brotherhood excitedly raised their hands.
“You bunch of rough bears,” Lavasis chuckled, patting one of the gang members on the shoulder. “Don’t worry, I’ll arrange a seaside villa for each of you, and a nice car for each of you. You’ll soon be part of the civilized world!”
"Pakan is wise!" someone shouted.
Surrounded by cheers, Lavasis wore a smug smile.
At this moment, his secretary quickly approached:
"Pakhan, our plane is ready to go and we can leave at any time."
"Okay, okay, don't rush, let me go in and pick out a few more toys I like..."
Lavassis waved his hand, looking completely at ease.
“Since the orphanage was rebuilt, I’ve hardly come here to avoid suspicion,” he said, looking somewhat dissatisfied. “Now that I’m leaving, I should at least be given a proper welcome… Sigh… Speaking of which, what was the name of that… runaway guy again?”
"I can't remember her name," the secretary replied politely.
“Oh well, it doesn’t matter. She’s top-notch,” Lavasis shook his head. “This time, at least I’ll find someone of similar quality to serve me well. Once we get to LA, I won’t be able to find someone as obedient as her.”
"There's one hour until the scheduled departure time, please hurry," the secretary said.
"Mmm~ Of course, of course."
Lavasis turned around, preparing to enter the orphanage.
Just then, a sonic boom came from above his head—
"Boom!!!"
"Ok?"
Lavasis turned his head and looked up at the sky.
Four or five dark shadows swept through the clouds and flew northward.
That's a jet fighter.
"Um...?"
Lavascis squinted.
“SuperAmerica has no reason to change its mind now,” he calmly analyzed, ignoring the gasps of the gang members around him. “The Foundation wouldn’t go that far… the Bureau of Investigation? They got intelligence? How did they do that?”
"boom..."
The explosions came from a great distance, and the flames turned the horizon red.
"Pakan!" The secretary's face turned deathly pale. "Our airport...it's been bombed..."
“I know,” Lavasis said calmly. “Ah... I think I know what’s going on.”
He looked at his secretary and gestured for her to come over:
"Let's proceed by water as usual. Just make them wait a little longer. We don't need these two boxes; just burn them."
After giving his instructions, he looked up at the bewildered bears.
“As for you, you should know that the waterways can’t take everyone,” he said with a wicked smile. “I still need to go into the orphanage to select some people. In the meantime, all you have to do is rush into St. Peter’s Town and kill as many as you can.”
"Based on the ranking of murders, the top five can leave with me, the rest can stay here and wait to die."
He waved his hand, like a CEO who had just announced his future plans at a shareholders' meeting, and walked confidently into the orphanage:
"Alright! Cheer up! The party's just getting started, let's have some fun!"
"..."
"The airport has been destroyed, and the Mercury Society members have no way to escape."
What about the waterway?
"We can't stop blocking the waterways, let's focus on St. Peter's Town."
"receive."
Jiang Zhengge put down his headset and nodded to Lin Chen on the other side.
"Let's go to the orphanage and find Lavasis."
"Hmm." Lin Chen finished checking the cylinder of the revolver shotgun and patted the cap back on.
