“Yes, that’s why it’s much thicker,” Jiang Zhengge said, “to resist subspace erosion.”
"That's good."
tide Lena spun around in place, feeling the heavy deep-sea suit clinging to her body.
“Standard milestone achieved!” She suddenly became very excited and gave Jiang Zhengge a “V” sign.
For the first time in a long time, Jiang Zhengge saw the innocent and carefree spirit that belonged only to a young girl on tide Leina's face.
"There's a significant difference between diving and going into space, isn't there?" he joked with a smile.
"So it's only a phase!"
tide Lena spun around twice more, her movements light and graceful, her expression joyful.
"When I finally go to space, I want to sing my songs to the whole universe, just like your Dongfanghong-1!"
“That’s quite an ambition,” Jiang Zhengge nodded.
"Therefore, we must not leave any worries behind."
tide Lena stretched towards the sea.
“We must kill the Sirens,” she said, “so that we can turn the page on the past.”
Gazing at the girl's profile, Jiang Zhengge stood there for a long time before softly replying:
"Ah."
tide Leina turned her head, smiled at Jiang Zhengge, and patted his chest:
"Let's go, it's time to assemble at the operations center. The operation is about to begin!"
......
Outside the bridge, a torrential downpour began, pounding against the windshield.
After changing into his deep-sea diving suit, Jiang Zhengge walked into the room, his gaze sweeping over everyone.
"How is the situation now?" he asked Xiao Fang.
"The weapon platform has been inspected and is ready for use."
Xiao Fang looked at the giant screen behind him:
"We are passing above the Black Abyss. The entrance to the ruins is about 500 meters underwater. The probe has already been launched."
"Connect the detector," Jiang Zhengge said.
Xiao Fang pressed a few buttons on the control panel, and soon the underwater scene appeared on the giant screen.
As the probe continued to descend into the seawater, the surrounding environment grew increasingly dark, and traces of marine life gradually disappeared.
"Not even a single fish?" tide Lena frowned.
“The entrance to the ruins is nearby; marine life should be able to sense the danger,” Xiao Fang whispered. “We’re almost there, look!”
The azure sea suddenly disappeared, replaced by pitch blackness that even light could not penetrate.
The probe plunged straight into the darkness, and instantly, streaks of snow-white lines appeared on the screen.
"Zizzizi..."
In the few remaining paintings, the skeletons of fish float towards you.
“No wonder marine life doesn’t come near here,” Jiang Zhengge said in a low voice.
“Seawater flowed into the ruins, and all the fish that entered the ruins died,” Xileina said softly. “Poor little creatures.”
“No signs of life detected,” Xiao Fang checked the parameters, “and no physical entities either…”
"Current depth, D-1.26."
"Continue descending."
The probe descended into the darkness, its dark blue radar constantly scanning the subspace ruins.
To everyone's surprise, the situation inside the ruins was quite good, and even the subspace radiation was not very strong.
“This place is quite livable,” Jiang Zhengge said. “It’s D-2, but we can’t even see a physical entity.”
"The absence of physical activity is good news for us, as it means that we can safely deploy subspace bunker-buster missiles."
After Xiao Fang finished speaking, he looked at Jiang Zhengge:
"Section Chief Jiang, what did you say?"
“Let’s begin the deployment,” Jiang Zhengge said.
"Buzzing..."
Soon, under Jiang Zhengge's orders, all departments on the "Ocean Cruiser" began to operate.
As Jiang Zhengge stepped onto the elevator platform in the lower part of the ship, Wu Hao and Xiao Fang had just finished their embrace.
"Be careful, okay?" Xiao Fang said. "Don't be reckless, and listen to Lao Jiang."
"Where did I act recklessly?" Wu Hao asked impatiently.
"Heh, who was it that disobeyed Lao Jiang last time and rushed out to chase that gamma-class monster, only to have three ribs broken instead?" Xiao Fang squinted and smiled. "Admit it, you're not very bright. Just listen to me!"
"Don't make fun of me."
Wu Hao turned his head with a displeased expression, and seeing Jiang Zhengge arrive, he shrugged:
"The elevator is ready. We can dive as soon as we get permission."
“Got it,” Jiang Zhengge nodded. “Let’s go.”
The two walked together into the depths of the elevator platform. To Jiang Zhengge, what was called a platform was actually an iron coffin attached to the bottom of the ocean liner, a large diving bell.
After leaving the ocean liner, this thing was only connected to the hull by a few iron chains.
Once the iron chains break, this place will truly become their coffin.
"Subspace bunker-buster missile loaded," tide Leina said, standing beside the control panel. "Old Jiang, is everyone here?"
"Everyone's here," Jiang Zhengge said.
“Then we can launch it.” Xileina nodded.
Jiang Zhengge pressed down on the earpiece:
"Attention, this is Rapid Reaction Division 1. We are now commencing the 'Deep-Sea Diving Plan.' All units, prepare yourselves."
"Drip, drip, drip..."
A dull thud echoed through the elevator platform, accompanied by the violent clatter of machinery, as the entire platform began to slowly sink.
"Buzzing..."
The descent was relatively smooth, and through the thick glass, Jiang Zhengge could see the desolate sea.
"50 meters."
"200 meters."
"350 meters."
The platform descended slowly in the darkness, the searchlights turning the surrounding waters white.
"Everyone, check your equipment," Jiang Zhengge turned his head, "ready for battle at any time."
Once inside the subspace ruins, the threats come not only from the outside world, but also from those around us.
Any object entering the subspace may be corroded and materialized, thus triggering an unexpected attack.
Inside the platform, everyone finished checking their weapons, put on their deep-sea diving helmets, and turned on their searchlights.
"450 meters, be careful, we are about to pass through the entrance to the ruins," Xiao Fang's voice came through the radio, "Inject sanity stabilizer."
Jiang Zhengge raised his arm and pressed a button on his wrist terminal.
With a soft "hiss," a cool sensation ran down his neck—the deep-sea suit had automatically injected a drug.
"Passing through the entrance." Jiang Zhengge looked out the window at the pitch blackness.
"Buzzing..."
The lights inside the cabin suddenly flickered, and there was static on the communication channel.
Jiang Zhengge glanced at the depth gauge on his wrist: the numbers were flashing rapidly, eventually settling at around 0.5.
“We’ve entered the ruins,” Xileina said. “Radar scan...no unusual entities detected.”
"Continue descending," Jiang Zhengge said.
In the chaotic darkness, everyone's nerves were on edge.
It felt like an eternity had passed, yet also like the blink of an eye, as the depth reading on the depth scale reached 2.35.
"Target depth reached."
Jiang Zhengge took a deep breath, stared at the darkness outside the window, and said softly:
"Deployment of subspace bunker-buster missiles has begun."
"Sizzle sizzle sizzle..."
The platform started operating, its sound like that of an old steam engine, its rusted gears turning once more over the long years.
“Confirming coordinates,” Xileina said, “calibrating.”
"Calibration complete," Wu Hao said.
"Launch." Jiang Zhengge pressed the button.
"boom."
A dull sound rang out, like the sound of a bottle cap being popped open, which Jiang Zhengge even found somewhat comical.
He looked down and saw that the floor had become transparent, and a blue light pierced through the darkness, heading deeper into the darkness.
Just a few seconds later, the blue light vanished, like a firefly swallowed by darkness.
"Buzzing..."
“No shockwave detected,” Xileina whispered. “Strange…did it hit or not?”
"Launch the probe and check the results," Jiang Zhengge said.
tide Lena started operating the control panel, but the heavy deep-sea suit made her movements somewhat clumsy.
Just then, the radar went off.
Upon seeing the signal above, Xileina's brows immediately furrowed:
"Receiving...audio signals from the Abyss? How is that possible..."
Upon hearing this, everyone's expressions immediately turned strange.
A language signal was heard from a subspace ruin with a depth greater than 4?
"Xiao Fang, can you translate this?" Wu Hao asked.
"It's being done."
After Xiao Fang finished speaking, the other end fell silent.
Less than half a minute later, her heavy breathing could be heard:
"Wait...wait...no!"
"What's wrong?" Wu Hao asked quickly.
"Pull it back! The signal isn't coming from the abyss!"
Xiao Fang shouted almost hysterically:
"That thing is right on your faces!!"
Almost simultaneously, a blue light emanated from the floor beneath everyone's feet.
Jiang Zhengge lowered his head and saw that, without him noticing, a huge eye had opened in the darkness beneath his feet.
The eye was a deep blue, so large it almost covered the entire abyss. The tiny subspace bunker-buster missile was hovering above its pupil, controlled by an invisible force.
"Zizzizi..."
