"I have found a way to extinguish the flames of karma."
Upon hearing this, Lisa turned her head sharply and stared into Lynn's eyes. In those usually indifferent black eyes, there was now a surge of some long-suppressed emotion.
"Really?"
Lynn took out the glass bottle from his spatial ring. "This contains holy water, which is very effective in suppressing karmic fire."
Lisa looked at the bottle of golden liquid, her lips trembling slightly.
She didn't speak, but Lynn noticed that her eyes were slightly red.
It only lasted a moment.
The next second, Lisa resumed her cold expression, as if her earlier lapse in composure had never happened.
“Then what are we waiting for?” She turned and walked toward the wooden house. “I’ll go and call His Highness.”
"Wait a minute," Lynn called out to her.
Lisa stopped and turned around.
Lynn turned to the side, revealing Vigo, who had been standing silently behind him.
Lisa's gaze fell on Vigo, her brows furrowing slightly.
"Who is this person?"
Lynn carefully considered her words, "You'll find out soon enough."
Lisa's eyes sharpened instantly, and her hand unconsciously gripped the hilt of her sword.
"What do you mean?"
"Save Anna first."
Lisa stared at Vigo for a few seconds, then finally looked away and turned to walk towards the cabin.
She stood in front of the door and knocked gently.
"Your Highness, it's me."
There was a moment of silence in the cabin.
Then, a weak voice came.
"Lisa, I told you, don't come near..."
“Lynn is back,” Lisa interrupted her.
The sounds inside the wooden house abruptly ceased.
Then, the door was slowly pushed open from the inside.
Lynn saw Anna.
She has lost a lot of weight.
Her long, golden hair had lost its luster and was now disheveled and draped over her shoulders.
The moment she saw Lynn, disbelief flashed in her beautiful eyes.
"You're back." Anna's voice was soft, and the faint, dark blue flames still swirled around her.
The flames were faint, but they were real, constantly burning her soul.
“I said I would come back.” Lynn held up the glass bottle in her hand. “And I brought something back with me.”
Anna's gaze fell on the bottle of golden liquid.
Her pupils contracted slightly.
"This is……"
“Holy water,” Lynn said, “can extinguish the fires of karma.”
"How do I use it?" Anna asked.
She didn't ask where the holy water came from, nor what Lynn had been through during this time, nor did she ask any other questions.
“Just pour it on,” Lynn said.
Anna nodded.
She pushed open the door and came out.
A faint blue flame flickered around her, and although it was weak, the scorching heat still made people instinctively want to back away.
Lisa instinctively took a step forward, but was stopped by a look from Anna.
“Don’t come any closer,” Anna said.
She walked to the open space in front of the cabin, stopped, and turned to face Lynn.
Just then, her gaze passed over Lynn's shoulder and landed on Vigo, who was standing in the distance.
Anna's expression changed slightly.
It wasn't surprise, nor anger, but a strange...familiarity.
"Who is that person?" Anna asked.
Lynn glanced back at Vigo.
Vigo stood a dozen meters away, his lips slightly parted as if he wanted to say something, but in the end he said nothing.
"We'll talk about it later." Lynn turned back. "Put out the fire first."
Anna looked away and didn't ask any further questions.
She looked at the holy water bottle in Lynn's hand and took a deep breath.
"bring it on."
Chapter Ninety-Six: The Extinction of Karmic Fire
Lynn unscrewed the bottle cap.
The pale golden liquid swayed gently at the bottle opening, emitting a warm and soft glow.
He walked toward Anna.
With each step closer, the scorching heat of the karmic fire intensified.
Although the layer of eerie blue flames looked weak, the destructive aura it emitted was chilling.
Lynn raised the bottle and slowly poured out the golden holy water.
The moment the liquid landed on Anna's head, a thick cloud of white smoke rose from her body, and the eerie blue flames, soaked in the holy water, danced wildly, emitting a piercing hiss, as if in their final, death throes.
Anna's body trembled violently.
"Your Highness!" Lisa's anxious voice came from behind.
"It's nothing," Anna said, forcing herself to speak despite the pain.
Golden holy water flowed down her hair, and wherever it passed, the dark blue flames melted and retreated as if frost and snow were being scorched by the blazing sun.
Lynn poured out all the holy water from the bottle, leaving not a single drop.
The white smoke grew thicker and thicker, almost engulfing Anna entirely.
Then the layer of dark blue karmic fire that had plagued Anna for dozens of days quietly disappeared.
The white smoke dissipated.
Anna stood there, soaked to the bone, her long golden hair clinging to her cheeks, water droplets dripping from her chin.
She slowly opened her eyes.
The shadow of pain was no longer in those golden eyes.
"It's destroyed," Anna said softly.
She looked down at her hands, which were no longer wreathed in flames, as if to confirm whether all of this was real.
Lisa could no longer hold back.
She strode forward and stopped in front of Anna.
"Your Highness, I can..."
Anna looked up at Lisa, then reached out and gently took Lisa's wrist.
Nothing happened.
Lisa gripped Anna's hand tightly, as if afraid that Anna would disappear if she let go.
Her face remained expressionless.
But Lynn saw a drop of water slide down her chin and land on the back of their clasped hands.
"Why are you crying?" Anna said softly, her tone filled with a hint of doting.
Lynn stood aside, watching this scene, and suddenly felt a lump in her throat.
He quickly turned his head away, pretending to be looking at the scenery.
Damn, I almost broke through their defenses.
Take a deep breath.
All right.
Lynn turned around and met Anna's gaze.
Those golden eyes were now filled with a tenderness that was almost scorching.
"Thank you," Anna said.
"It was a promise." Lynn smirked. "It's the duty of a servant."
Anna looked at him, a slight smile playing on her lips.
That was the first time Lynn had seen Anna smile so...relaxed.
She lacked the saintly grace, the fierceness of battle, and the usual subtle distance.
very nice.
Lynn mentally gave that smile a perfect score.
"Oh, right." Anna's smile faded, and her gaze once again passed over Lynn, looking into the distance.
Vigo was still standing there.
He didn't get any closer from beginning to end.
“That person’s expression…” Anna’s tone returned to calm, “Why did it seem like he knew me?”
Lynn glanced back at Vigo.
The man's expression was complicated. His gaze remained fixed on Anna, and his lips trembled slightly, as if he had a thousand words stuck in his throat but couldn't utter a single one.
"My name is Vigo."
Anna's brow twitched slightly.
She seemed to have heard this name in some distant corner of her memory.
But that memory was too blurry, so blurry that she wasn't even sure if it was real or a dream.
“Vigo,” Anna repeated the name, then shook her head. “I’m sorry, I don’t remember you.”
Vigo's expression remained unchanged.
Or rather, he had anticipated this answer.
“It’s okay,” he said softly. “You don’t need to remember me.”
He took a step back.
"I just... wanted to make sure you were safe."
Anna stared at him for a few seconds, her eyes filled with doubt.
She didn't ask any further questions.
