Most importantly, this catgirl seems very approachable.

Moreover, although the items she sells are not top-of-the-line, upon closer inspection, the quality is acceptable, and the prices are at least 30% cheaper than those in city stores.

Everyone understood that this outsider catgirl would most likely be taught a lesson by the shop owners.

But that happened later.

Now, buying low-priced goods is like making a profit.

In no time, the entire stall was surrounded by a huge crowd.

"Little Cat Girl, how much is this leather armor?" a burly dwarf asked.

“My strong sir, you have a good eye, meow!” Cat White immediately smiled broadly. “This is made of the finest bison hide, perfect for a true warrior like you, meow! Since you’re the first customer to inquire about weapons, I’ll give you a 20% discount, only thirty silver coins, meow!”

“Little sister, I want that blue ribbon!” A young girl shyly squeezed forward.

"Okay, meow! This sky-blue ribbon is perfect for a cute girl like you. Wear it, and you'll be the most beautiful sight in Chaos City, meow! It's only five copper coins!"

Cat Bai Bai is like a tireless spinning top, busy in front of the small stall.

She always knows how to use the most appropriate language to praise every customer to the point of satisfaction, maximizing their emotional value.

In less than half an hour, the packages she brought were all gone.

Cat Bai clapped his hands, looking contentedly at his bulging money bag.

Thank you everyone for your support!

Just then, an untimely voice rang out behind her.

A fat man dressed in gorgeous silk clothes walked slowly over, accompanied by his attendants.

"What a shrewd businessman."

The fat man stopped in front of Cat Whitey's stall, a smile on his face.

"But did you ask me before you started selling things here?"

Chapter Forty-Four: Twenty-Sided Dice

The cat tilted its head slightly, its short, flaxen hair swaying with it.

"Meow, why should I ask you in a public area?"

The fat man's face scrunched up, and he burst into laughter.

"Haha, I just can't do anything with you."

He stuck out his belly and pointed to the ragged vendors around him.

"Listen up, I am Simon, the greatest tax collector in Chaos City."

"It is because of me that this city is developing steadily, and everyone is working hard."

Simon pointed to the empty cloth on the cat's white body.

“You have violated the tax laws of Chaos City by openly selling these goods, but since this is your first offense, you will only need to pay half of your illegal gains.”

The cat, Bai Bai, is a bit silly.

She raised her hand and scratched the cat ears on her head.

"Meow? But I remember the tax laws of the Kingdom of Orentia are not like this."

Simon burst into laughter again when he heard the cat say that.

"Orentia's tax laws don't apply to our Chaotic City."

He waved his hand dismissively.

"That useless king doesn't even have the courage to send troops to Chaos City, so why should we obey his laws?"

The crowd of onlookers quieted down.

Several homeless people who had originally hoped to find a bargain quickly retreated into the shadows.

At the edge of the square, several old mercenaries leaned against the corner of the wall, watching coldly.

Simon was infamous in Chaos City. His henchmen specifically targeted foreign merchants, and their so-called tax collection was nothing more than blatant robbery.

Those who refuse to pay will usually appear in the stinking ditch outside the city the next day, and their clothes will be stripped off.

Simon stopped laughing and took a step closer.

"I'll ask one last time, are you going to pay taxes or not?"

His attendant stepped forward, fixing his gaze on Mao Baibai's neck, ready to draw his sword at any moment.

The cat looked dejected, its tail drooping limply behind it.

"Meow, it seems I have no choice."

She reached out her little hand and touched the bag at her waist that had just been filled with coins.

Simon nodded in satisfaction and reached out to take the money bag.

Just as the cat's white fingers touched the money bag.

The money bag vanished into thin air.

A twenty-sided die appeared out of thin air and fell onto the muddy ground.

"Luck Dice".

The cat muttered softly.

The dice rolled on the ground, hit a small pebble, bounced up, and fell again.

Stop.

The upward-facing side clearly shows thirteen o'clock.

"Wow, you're so idiot, it looks like your plans are going to fall through."

Simon and his servants were completely bewildered by this sudden turn of events.

Before they could figure out what was happening, a cloud of black mist spread out from under Cat White's feet.

In the blink of an eye, the cat's small, white body completely disappeared into the air.

The muddy ground was empty, with only a gentle breeze blowing by.

"Invisibility spell!" Simon screamed. "Quick, drink the potion to detect invisibility, don't let her get away!"

We absolutely cannot let such a shrewd businesswoman go.

The servant next to him frantically searched his body for a long time.

A layer of cold sweat broke out on my forehead.

"My lord, I was in such a hurry that I forgot to bring the medicine."

Simon slapped the servant across the face.

"waste!"

Simon launched into a tirade of profanities.

He had only been in a good mood and wanted to collect taxes in the area himself, but he never expected to run into such a talkative catgirl.

This surprised and delighted him.

Such a shrewd salesman slipped away right under his nose, a cruel mockery of him.

Just then, a thief wearing gray-brown leather armor pushed his way out of the crowd.

He walked quickly to Simon's side and whispered a few words in his ear.

Simon's previously ashen face gradually softened.

"Hmph, little cat girl, you can't escape."

He turned to look at the attendant beside him.

"Send a few guards to the Violet Inn."

……

Violet Inn.

Second floor guest rooms.

Lynn sat cross-legged on the bed.

Elemental power flowed smoothly within his body, repairing the fatigue from his long journey. After reaching level ten, his affinity for fire and wind elements significantly improved.

Sudden.

A loud crashing sound came from downstairs.

The heavy wooden door was violently slammed open by something, followed by loud shouting and the sound of tables and chairs being overturned.

Lynn was forced to interrupt her meditation.

He opened his eyes and got out of bed.

What happened?

Was it the city lord of the City of Order who sent people to chase after us? Impossible. Even if they rode through the night, they couldn't possibly reach Chaos City in a day unless they had a high-level teleportation array.

Was someone planning to rob this hotel? No, that doesn't make sense. If it were a robbery, they would have launched a sneak attack in the middle of the night, not made such a commotion in broad daylight.

Lynn walked to the window and looked out through the crack in the wooden window.

Outside the hotel, a dozen guards armed with sharp blades stood on the street, completely blocking the front and back exits.

Lynn turned and walked toward the door. He didn't open it immediately, but pressed himself against the door and listened to the sounds downstairs.

First floor lobby.

Simon kicked over the wooden table in front of him, spilling the wine all over the floor.

His obese body almost blocked the entire counter.

“The inn is under siege.” Simon stared at the fat woman hiding behind the counter. “Give me the room numbers of the catgirl and her companion who are checking in today.”

The fat woman trembled all over. She took out a handkerchief and frantically wiped the cold sweat from her forehead.

“Lord Simon, this…this is not in accordance with the rules. Our Violet Inn has always paid its taxes on time, not a single copper coin has been short. You cannot do this.”

The fat woman took out two gold coins from her bosom and quietly pushed them to Simon's side.

"Please take this small token of my appreciation and have some tea. Consider it my apology on behalf of the guests upstairs..."

Simon chuckled.

He drew a longsword from the waist of the attendant beside him and slammed it heavily against the wooden counter, sending gold coins flying to the ground.

"So I didn't smash your things. These tables were just knocked over by my men."

He lunged forward and stared into the fat woman's eyes.

"If it were someone dishonest, I'd tear down their shop and throw them into the moat to feed the fish. Which would you choose?"

A naked threat.

The fat woman shrank back in fear. She knew Simon's methods all too well. In this lawless and chaotic city, Simon kept a group of the most brutal outlaws under his command.

The fat woman swallowed.

"The catgirl hasn't returned yet. But... her companions are still upstairs."

She stretched out a trembling finger and pointed to the stairs leading to the second floor.

"The two rooms at the end of the left corridor on the second floor."

Simon sheathed his sword.

He waved.

The five guards behind him immediately drew their long swords and strode towards the second floor.
