Space equipment.
The image of the spatial ring on Anna's hand immediately flashed into Lynn's mind.
In this world, spatial equipment is extremely rare and expensive; it is a top-tier magical item that mages skilled in spatial magic can only create after a long period of time.
The catgirl who was almost eaten by several wild wolves was carrying a space backpack with an astonishingly large capacity.
This is so unreasonable!
Lynn re-examined the catgirl in front of her.
Why would a catgirl with top-tier spatial equipment end up being robbed by a few ordinary bandits?
If she were a hidden master, she wouldn't have needed to ask for help when facing the wolves.
If she were just an ordinary merchant, running around in the wilderness with such valuable equipment, she would be a walking treasure trove.
After stuffing the last bit of valuable iron ore in the stone chamber into his backpack, Mao Baibai clapped his hands in satisfaction.
She turned around, carrying the small canvas backpack, and walked up to Lynn.
The fear and grievance that had been in those emerald green cat eyes had completely vanished.
Cat Baibai straightened up, adjusted her skirt, and then extended her right hand.
"Let's get to know each other again. I'm the traveling merchant cat Bai Bai. You can buy lots of adorable things from me."
Chapter Thirty-Five: The Foolish Man
Lynn looked at the small hand outstretched in mid-air, but did not reach out to grasp it.
"Don't you have any clothes in this backpack?" Lynn pointed to her empty canvas backpack. "You're dressed so poorly, you don't even have shoes."
Cat Baibai looked down at her skirt, then at her bare feet.
Two fluffy cat ears stood up instantly.
"Oh right, I almost forgot to change my clothes, meow."
She immediately withdrew her hand, took off the small canvas backpack, held it to her chest, and began rummaging through it.
The stone chamber was quiet, except for the rustling sound of the fabric as the cat Bai Bai rummaged through its backpack.
Soon, she pulled out a brand new dress, and then a pair of small leather boots.
"Could you please turn your head?" White Cat, clutching her clothes, took two steps to the side and hid behind a protruding rock. "I need to change my clothes, meow."
Lynn turned around, his back to the rock.
I heard rustling sounds of clothes being taken off behind me.
The fabric slipped down, and the zipper was pulled.
"Okay, meow."
Lynn turned around.
The cat, Bai Bai, emerged from behind the rock.
She had changed out of the tattered coarse cloth dress and was now wearing a close-fitting white lace lining, over which was a finely tailored dark green vest, the hem of which just covered her waist.
Her lower body was covered by a khaki pleated mini skirt, the hem of which was so short that it barely covered the top of her thighs. Her long, thin cat tail peeked out from under the skirt and swept leisurely in the air, creating a gentle breeze.
She wore a pair of white over-the-knee stockings, with a bit of soft flesh showing at the edge of the stockings, and on her feet were the same pair of brown calfskin boots that had just been taken out.
The torchlight from the stone wall shone on her, and this outfit, combined with her flaxen short hair and two trembling cat ears on her head, amplified her natural cuteness to an extreme.
The absolute territory between the short skirt and the stockings exudes an unparalleled allure.
That's really great.
Lynn mentally gave this outfit a high score.
"With so many treasures you're carrying, aren't you afraid I'll just rob you like these bandits?"
The cat stopped adjusting her skirt.
She looked up and stared at Lynn for a while.
"I think you're a good person, meow." She shook her head, her cat ears twitching. "You just saved me, you definitely won't take my money."
Suddenly, the cat clapped its hands.
"Oh right, meow, you just saved me, I want to repay you, meow."
She reached her hand into the canvas backpack again, almost sticking half her body inside.
Lynn stood there, watching her rummage through the items.
This catgirl can casually pull out spatial equipment, so the things she uses to repay a life-saving debt must be of high quality.
A high-level spell scroll? A rare potion? Or some kind of functional equipment?
"Clang clang clang clang!"
Cat Baibai abruptly pulled her hand out of the backpack.
"Dried fish slices!"
A fish fillet, about half an arm's length long and grilled to a golden brown, appeared in her hand, emitting a rich, salty aroma.
Lynn was stunned.
That's it?
Where are the high-level spell scrolls? Where are the rare potions?
"This is my favorite food." White Cat held the fish slice in both hands, sniffing with delight. "I can share some with you."
Lynn was speechless.
"No need," he said decisively.
"Don't misunderstand." Cat White hugged the fish slice to its chest, its emerald eyes blinking. "This isn't for you. I'm just so hungry right now, and I want to eat a super big, super long fish slice that can fill my mouth completely, meow."
The atmosphere in the stone chamber froze for a moment.
As Lynn looked at the petite catgirl in front of him and listened to the words she uttered, the blood vessels in his brain throbbed.
Super big? Super long? Enough to fill your mouth?
Is this little thing really not a succubus in disguise?
The line, "In the middle of nowhere, a lone man and a lone woman," is extremely misleading. Paired with her innocent and naive appearance, its destructive power is doubled.
Lynn really wanted to tie her up and then teach her a lesson.
Cat Bai Bai was completely unaware of Lynn's inner turmoil.
She opened her small mouth and took a big bite of the dried fish slice.
"Click".
The crisp sound of chewing echoed in the stone chamber. The cat's white cheeks were bulging, making it look exactly like a squirrel hoarding food, and its two cat ears were comfortably pushed back.
While chewing on a slice of fish, she reached her hand into her backpack again.
"Hmm...Found it, meow."
Her voice was muffled because her mouth was full of fish.
Lynn looked at her hand.
This time, Mao Baibai took out a black cloak. The material looked very ordinary, similar to the black robe he was currently wearing to conceal his identity.
The cat swallowed the fish slice in its mouth with great effort and let out a long sigh of relief.
“This is an invisibility cloak.” She handed the black cloak to Lynn. “I bought it in the Kingdom of Verohem, meow.”
Invisibility cloak?
Lynn's gaze fell on the unremarkable cloak.
If it truly is a high-level magical item that can make someone invisible, its value is absolutely immeasurable.
"The seller said that stupid people can become invisible after wearing it," Cat Whitey added, its tail wagging happily behind it. "But I'm so smart, I'm definitely not stupid, so it doesn't work for me at all."
"I'm giving it to you now, meow."
Lynn's outstretched hand, ready to catch the cloak, froze in mid-air.
and many more.
Something doesn't sound right about that.
The seller said that it would make stupid people invisible when they wore it.
She thought she was smart enough to wear contact lenses without them.
Then she gave the cloak to herself.
So, all this back and forth, is it actually a self-inflicted insult?
"Do you think I'm stupid?" Lynn withdrew his hand and retorted directly.
The cat nodded confidently.
“Of course, meow.” She hugged her cloak and declared confidently, “After all, what smart person would venture into a bandit's cave for a catgirl in distress?”
Lynn opened his mouth.
I was speechless.
If a normal person encounters this kind of thing in the wild, they would run away as fast as they can, who would actively come up to fight robbers?
From Cat Bai Bai's perspective, she did indeed do something stupid.
Lynn sighed and reached out to take the black cloak.
The fabric felt rough to the touch, had no warmth, and I couldn't feel even the slightest bit of magic flowing through it.
This is absolutely just an ordinary piece of black cloth. That seller from the Kingdom of Vilohem is a complete fraud.
This kind of trope—"smart people can't see it" or "only fools are useful"—has been overused in fairy tales from the past.
This catgirl got swindled out of her money and is now making fun of herself with this tattered cloth.
"Try it on, meow." White Cat urged expectantly, clasping her paws together in front of her chest. "I've never seen it invisible before, meow."
Lynn unfurled his cloak.
Alright, let's just treat this as playing house with this catgirl with her quirky thought process.
If she doesn't react when I put it on, I'll take the opportunity to mock her intelligence and give her a good talking-to so she can produce something truly useful.
Lynn casually draped the black cloak over his shoulders and tied the collar.
Before he could even complain about how itchy the fabric was...
"It really did become invisible, meow! I knew the seller wasn't lying to me."
Chapter Thirty-Six: The Ominous Curse
Lynn lowered his head.
His own body, along with the black robe he wore to conceal his identity, had completely vanished.
He could feel the cloak, but when he looked down, he could only see the filthy ground beneath his feet.
Holy crap.
Lynn cursed inwardly.
This thing... is actually real?
He moved his arms, and there was no ripple in the air, as if he had truly become one with his surroundings.
This is practically an essential gadget for murder, robbery, and... well, for home and travel.
With this, his survival ability will be increased exponentially.
But what followed was an even more perplexing problem for him.
