"Yes, it's all my fault."

He straightened up, took half a step back, and gave her room to breathe.

"It has absolutely nothing to do with you."

Lisa punched him in the chest. The force was light, somewhere between punishment and playful teasing.

She turned her face away and reached out to tidy her disheveled hair, her movements much slower than usual, her fingers almost unresponsive.

Lynn leaned against the opposite wall and watched her.

The music in the square changed to a soothing string melody.

The noise from the crowd subsided a few notes, as if it were time for a slow dance.

After Lisa composed herself, she turned to face him. The redness on her face had mostly faded, and she had regained her indifferent expression.

The two stared at each other in silence for a few seconds.

The melodious strains of string music drifted over from afar, carrying a warm frequency.

Lisa spoke first.

"Your Highness Anna..." she paused, "do you know?"

Lynn didn't quite understand what she was asking.

“You often come to my room at night.”

“If she didn’t know,” Lynn said calmly, “there would be a ghost.”

Chapter 161 The King Arrives

“If she didn’t know,” Lynn said calmly, “there would be a ghost.”

The music outside the alley changed. Lisa leaned against the wall, uttered an "oh," and her tone was devoid of any emotion.

"Don't be afraid," Lynn said, looking at her. "Her Highness the Holy Maiden certainly won't have any objections."

Lisa moved slightly and immediately retorted.

"I'm not afraid."

"Then why were you shaking just now?"

"It's cold."

Lynn didn't call her out on it.

It was indeed chilly in the alley, but Lisa was a disciplinary nun who trained in the freezing cold year-round, so this temperature was nothing to her.

However, some things lose their meaning once they're said outright.

He turned and walked towards the alley entrance. "Going back."

Lisa followed, and the two walked out of the dark alley one after the other, rejoining the crowds of the market.

Lynn stopped at the street corner. "You go back first, I'll wander around some more."

Lisa nodded, asked no further questions, and turned to walk towards her residence.

Lynn stood alone in place. The bonfire in the center of the square was still burning, but the drummers had changed, and the rhythm had become chaotic and intense.

Some people were dancing, some were drinking, and several drunk men walked past him arm in arm, reeking of alcohol.

He looked up at the night sky; there were no stars, the clouds were thick, and the moon was completely obscured.

Tomorrow, the four-year-old king will stand on the high platform and receive the worship of thousands.

Nora would stand in the crowd, watching the order she had built be taken over by the royal family.

The nobles will return to their manors, while the commoners will continue to struggle in the slums.

But he couldn't do anything.

Lynn turned and walked slowly toward his lodgings, through the bustling market, through the crowds, and through the streets adorned with lanterns.

My mind is filled with many things, yet it feels like I'm not thinking about anything at all.

Back at his lodgings, he went straight up to the second floor, pushed open the door, and entered his room.

Lynn closed her eyes and began to meditate.

The power of the elements surged in from the air and flowed gently into his body.

This is something he has been doing every day for the past six months; it has become an instinct.

Even so, it took half a year to advance to the next level.

Anna said he was a genius.

Because leveling up from 60 onwards requires a significant amount of time for each level to be reached.

Lynn shook his head, stopped thinking about it, and went straight into a deep meditative state.

The next morning, Lynn went to the stronghold as soon as it was light.

Nora stood in the doorway, talking quietly to a young man.

She was wearing a dark coat, her hair was tied back, and her face was expressionless. When she saw Lynn, she nodded, gesturing for him to come over.

"How are the preparations going?" Lynn walked over to her.

Nora raised her chin and pointed towards the square. "The ceremony is ready. When the King arrives at noon, there will be a brief ceremony in the square first, and then he will go to the city hall to meet with representatives from all walks of life."

"town Hall?"

“It’s the original city lord’s mansion,” Nora said. “It’s been renovated and the sign has been changed.”

Lynn was silent for a moment, then asked, "And you?"

Nora turned to look at him; her eyes were calm, without anger or disappointment.

“Me?” She smiled. “I’m the hero who rebuilt Holy Song City. His Majesty the King will thank me in public and give me a nice title, maybe an honorary citizen or something.”

"And what about the actual management rights?"

“Hand it over to the newly appointed city lord.” Nora turned her gaze back to the square. “It will most likely be an official from a noble family, directly appointed by the royal family.”

Lynn looked at her profile. Six months ago, this woman led a group of refugees out of the ruins, took over the entire city, rebuilt the water supply system, and restored market order.

Now, everything is going to be taken away.

“There’s no need to worry about security.” Nora seemed to know what he was thinking. “The royal city has already sent guards, and there are posts all around the square. At most, we’ll be dismissed, but we won’t be purged.”

"you sure?"

“I’m sure.” Nora nodded. “Holy Song City needs a stable image. The king has just been crowned and needs to show benevolence and tolerance. Killing us will not do him any good.”

Lynn didn't speak. He looked at the busy workers in the square, at the ceremonial platform being built, and at the royal flags fluttering in the wind.

“Recently, those nobles have been making more and more noise,” Nora continued. “When the reconstruction first started, I could still order them to contribute manpower and money, but now they don’t listen to me anymore.”

"They probably feel they're about to regain power and won't need us anymore."

Lynn nodded.

Nobles never need to thank commoners.

Nora gave them a chance to rebuild the city, but once order is restored and power is redistributed, they will not hesitate to abandon her.

"I'll go check on how the ceremony preparations are going." Nora turned and walked towards the square. "I'm free this morning, you should go and rest."

Lynn stood there, watching her figure disappear into the crowd. He turned around and walked back, just in time to see Eve, dressed in a long black dress, walking out of the base.

“Eve,” Lynn called out to her.

Eve stopped and turned to look at him.

“The king is coming soon,” Lynn said. “What are your thoughts on the Fire you built with your own hands?”

Eve was silent for a few seconds. "I am the guardian of the kingdom."

“The guardians’ duty is to protect the kingdom, not to interfere in politics.” Eve paused for a moment. “The existence of the Burning Fire organization is legally considered treason, and I made the decision not to interfere when I left Burning Fire.”

“If the king finds out that I have connections with this organization that wants to subvert the class system, it will cause opposition from all sides and will not be good for the stability of the kingdom.”

Lynn looked at her. "And now?"

“Now?” Eve’s lips twitched slightly. “Let nature take its course.”

After saying this, Eve walked past him and headed to the square.

The morning went by quickly.

Lynn meditated in her room again, then went downstairs to eat something. More and more people gathered in the hall, and the members of Burning Fire changed into clean clothes, their faces showing a mixture of nervousness and anticipation.

At noon, bugle calls sounded in the square.

Lynn left the stronghold and blended into the crowd. The ceremonial platform in the center of the square had been set up, surrounded by royal guards in black uniforms, while civilians gathered in the square, whispering among themselves.

A troop of cavalry slowly approached from the distant street.

At the very front is a royal banner, with a gold background and white stripes, embroidered with the emblem of the Duchy of Toussaint.

The flags fluttered in the wind, making a rustling sound.

Behind the cavalry was a carriage.

To Lynn's surprise, the carriage was not the kind of war chariot he had seen before, but an ordinary four-wheeled carriage.

The carriage was dark brown with little decoration, except for a small royal emblem engraved on the roof.

The carriage stopped at the edge of the square.

The guard jumped down and opened the car door.

A little boy got out of the car.

He was wearing a white robe with a dark blue jacket over it.

His white hair shone brightly in the sunlight, and his skin was as white as porcelain. He stood on the ground, looking up at the crowd in the square, his eyes filled with curiosity.

His mother, Queen Mother Enochia, followed closely behind, stepping down from the carriage.

She was wearing a plain-colored long dress, her hair was tied up, and she had a gentle smile on her face.

She walked over to her son, bent down, and straightened his collar.

Then, she straightened up, took her son's hand, and walked towards the altar.

Chapter 162 Enoria

Enochia, holding her four-year-old son's hand, walked step by step onto the ceremony platform.

Her movements were elegant and composed, as if she were walking in the corridor of her own palace.

The eyes of tens of thousands of people in the square were focused on the mother and child, and the noisy discussions gradually subsided.

Lynn mingled in the crowd, his gaze fixed on the white-haired little boy.

Olivier, the new king of the kingdom.

He really is like a child, full of curiosity about everything around him.

He didn't look at the crowd below the stage, but instead looked down at the wooden plank beneath his feet, occasionally kicking it lightly with the tip of his shoe, seemingly more interested in the gaps between the planks.

Enoria led him to the very center of the altar, to a magnificent chair that had been prepared beforehand.

She didn't ask him to sit down, but instead made him stand there, then took two steps forward herself, facing the entire square.

She wore a gentle and charming smile, and her violet eyes swept over the crowd below the stage, carrying a calming power.

"Citizens of the City of Holy Songs."

Her voice wasn't loud, but it reached everyone's ears clearly, like a spring breeze brushing across a lake, carrying a captivating rhythm.

All kinds of styles.

The word inexplicably popped into Lynn's mind. This woman, with just the opening scene, had already captured everyone's hearts.

“I am I Enochia von Toussaint. Standing behind me is your King, His Majesty Olivier.”

A low murmur arose in the crowd, but it was quickly silenced by Eleanor's next words.
