Denise looked at him with her beautiful silver eyes.
"According to your logic, the world you live in doesn't even have a unified country; people live in towns and villages. Cultural transmission is also very difficult. Under such circumstances, it's possible for an organization to deliberately tamper with documents and fabricate history."
Jamila is, after all, a former astronaut, so she has some experience.
“Normally, when a power develops to a certain extent, it will definitely seek to expand outward. But your world only has city-states and no countries, which is very abnormal. But if the organization deliberately prevented all of this in order to make it easier to tamper with history and control the world, then it makes sense.”
Denise, who had been smiling the whole time, stopped smiling.
Is this really the truth about the world they live in?
She thought of her family, Claire's family, and many other people she had met on her journey.
On the mainland, far too many people have had their families harmed by demons. If these demons are truly created by an organization, doesn't that mean all these tragedies are the work of that organization?
"Tsk!"
Just then, Murphy returned carrying steaming hot dishes.
"What do these guys think their lives are?!" As an alien, his hearing was sharp enough to detect sounds from kilometers away, so he had overheard their entire conversation while cooking. Now, walking over, he couldn't help but vent his frustration.
Murphy's righteous words won over Denise.
But the next second, all that goodwill vanished.
"Life is the most precious asset in the universe! Not to mention that humans are exceptionally gifted, providing not only a large amount of emotional energy but also excellent raw materials for biological weapons!"
Denise's expression grew increasingly frantic. What kind of place was this bar?! These words sounded far more sinister than the organization itself.
"Ah, sorry, I just started working at a bar, and I haven't fully adjusted to some of my old habits yet. It's an old occupational hazard!"
Murphy put the dishes down.
"Authentic Chinese cuisine, please enjoy your meal!"
Denise couldn't understand what kind of profession could leave behind such an occupational hazard.
Meanwhile, Claire, standing to the side, was already drooling as she looked at the steaming dishes.
Although Denise had taken good care of her, she was really craving food after eating dry rations for many days in the wilderness.
Denise patted Claire's head affectionately: "Eat!"
Denessa stopped thinking about Murphy's identity. They weren't from the same world, so why should she care? At least Murphy wasn't showing any hostility, was he?
Denise and Claire began to enjoy their meal.
"Mmm, delicious!" Denise and Claire exclaimed.
Murphy's last-minute cooking skills were only average. But for the two of them, who lived in a medieval-like environment and had been eating dry rations for many days, this meal, rich in oil and spices and made with top-quality ingredients, was nothing short of a state banquet.
"Gurgle..." Homura Akemi's stomach rumbled at an inopportune moment.
Her face flushed slightly as she hugged her stomach.
She got into a fight as soon as she entered the bar, and then transformed into Gatsu-niang, which she has maintained until now. Her stamina is almost completely depleted.
"Come on, dinner's ready."
As if by magic, Murphy brought out several more plates.
Homura Akemi deactivated her transformation, awkwardly went over, and sat down with Murphy and Jamila.
Unlike the Chinese food at Teresa's place, Murphy is cooking Japanese food here to take care of Homura Akemi.
Homura Akemi enjoyed her meal, but Jamila found it tasteless.
Murphy's cooking skills were mediocre to begin with, and Japanese food tends to be bland, which made it even less to his liking as a white man.
Jamila glanced at the happy Denise and Claire and couldn't help but feel envious: He wanted to eat Chinese food too!
Having filled her stomach, Homura Akemi dutifully offered to wash the dishes. Murphy, however, waved her hand.
"You must have been waiting impatiently for a while, right? Go back and take care of your own business first! Come back to work after you've sorted out your personal matters!"
Murphy's understanding moved Homura Akemi even more. Now that things had come to this, she had only one choice: after completely saving Madoka, she would solemnly swear her allegiance to Murphy!
"But manager, how am I supposed to get back?"
Homura Akemi was a little worried. What if her desire wasn't strong enough in the future? Would she be unable to come here again?
"Once you've been here once, you'll be marked by the bar. Then, whenever you want to come back, the bar's doors will automatically appear in front of you."
Homura Akemi then left with the newly acquired belt and Guts' soul, feeling relieved.
'Kyubey, Witch's Night, here I come!'
After Homura Akemi left, Teresa gracefully walked over, took out a few metal coins and placed them on the table, smiling sweetly.
"Manager, do you know if we can pay with our world's currency? If not, I wouldn't mind staying here and working like that kid!"
Chapter Thirteen: The Demon Triangular Trade
Murphy sighed.
The guests come from all different dimensions, which certainly makes for a lot of fun. Putting everything else aside, he enjoyed listening to the stories alone.
But then, payment became a problem.
Murphy also has to pay for his supplies. But most of these extraterrestrial currencies are unspendable.
We can't really expect all the guests to stay and work to pay off our debts, can we? That would just leave us still unable to make ends meet.
Murphy glanced at Denise, whose face was full of anticipation. It was all too obvious that this woman wanted to stay and work here.
"This isn't a shelter," Murphy retorted. "It's the Land of Light's responsibility to take in space refugees!"
Denise's eyes lit up: "Then send us to the Land of Light."
"I'm telling you, don't you have any sense of responsibility? Don't you want to save your world?"
Denise shook her head: "I'll be content as long as I can live a good life with Claire!"
Murphy reluctantly picked up a gold coin from the table and handed Denise some change: "This will do."
Gold is a universally used precious metal. Although it is not as valuable as it is on Earth, it is still more than enough to pay for bills.
Teresa was disappointed, but she didn't persist. She was the smiling Teresa, incapable of being clingy or persistent.
"Do you have any way to completely eliminate the demons and the organization? I can pay for it."
“This is a bar, not a jack-of-all-trades shop,” Murphy said, even more exasperated.
“But didn’t you say that as long as you can do it, even if it’s not on the menu, you can order it?” Denise said with a smile.
Murphy crossed his arms; he really had said that before. But he was clearly referring to the menu.
"When you said it, you didn't specify that it had to be a menu."
Denise smiled slyly.
Murphy laughed: "Okay, you're right! I'll take this job."
He started the bar to have fun, and Teresa's request certainly seemed like something that would be fun.
"However, my asking price is quite high!"
"As long as it completely eliminates the organization and the demons, you can have as much as you want," Denise said nonchalantly. After all, she wouldn't have to pay for it herself.
The organization has been operating on the mainland for who knows how long; heaven knows how much money they've amassed. They can just hand over all their savings to Murphy when the time comes.
Murphy shook his head: "I'm not very interested in your currency."
Although gold can be exchanged for a universal currency, the exchange rate is too disproportionate.
"You can capture some demons and awakened beings and sell them to me."
"This thing can be sold?" Denise was shocked.
“Of course!” Murphy nodded. “These unique creatures are far more valuable in the universe than gold. Take the Awakened, for example. If you encounter the Yapools, you might be able to rent or buy enough super-beasts to wage a small-scale interstellar war!”
“Compared to those unattainable dreams, I’d rather seize the present.” Denise shrugged. “Then it’s settled. I’ll capture the demons and awakened ones, and you’ll have to give me a way to completely eliminate the demons and the organization.”
“No problem.” Murphy extended his hand to Denise. “You can always trust the reputation of the Mefilas aliens!”
The Mefilas aliens are evil and cunning, but they are unquestionable when it comes to keeping their promises.
Denise grasped Murphy's hand: "Then, it'll be a pleasure working with you!"
"Oh, and remember, it's best to catch them alive," Murphy reminded Denise after releasing her.
"What's the difference?" Denise asked, perplexed.
With her strength, defeating demons and awakened beings wouldn't be difficult, but capturing them alive would be much more troublesome. Those guys were all incredibly arrogant and vicious, and it would be hard to make them behave using ordinary methods.
"I might be able to figure out a way to restore the Greatsword and Awakened to normal people from them."
Denise felt a warmth in her heart upon hearing this.
Almost everyone who becomes a Claymore longs to return to being a normal human. Even she, the undisputed strongest Claymore, is no exception.
However, Denise was also worried that if she returned to normal, would she lose her powers as well?
In that dangerous world, being powerless often meant being at the mercy of others.
"You don't need to worry about that. Restoring the greatsword to normal while preserving its power is just basic stuff."
Murphy said she underestimated her technical skills.
"My technical skills are definitely no less than those of Hikari from the Land of Light!"
Although she didn't know who Hikari was, Teresa decided to believe him after seeing how confident Murphy was.
At worst, I can go back to being a normal person after I've completely dealt with the organization and the demons!
"Oh, right, this is for you."
Murphy tossed her a few red and white spheres and a strange little gun.
"What are these? Toys?" Denise fiddled with them for a while, but couldn't figure out what they were for.
"That's a monster ball. I made it based on Ultraman Seven's capsule monster. If you defeat the demons and awakened beings, you can use them to capture them."
Looking at the red and white ball, Murphy felt a pang of nostalgia.
This thing comes from one of the few memories he hasn't forgotten—Pokémon.
To achieve the effect he remembered, he even made a special trip to Hikari's laboratory. It wasn't that he couldn't figure it out on his own, but referring to Hikari's materials would save him more time.
"That gun is a little toy I developed before. The red button is the protection mode, which can fire a light shield to protect yourself or restrain enemies. The white button is the healing mode. As long as you don't die on the spot, pressing the white button and spraying it can basically revive you."
Murphy demonstrated it to Denise.
"You're so strong, you don't look like the protagonist at all. You might be one of those old men who's about to be sacrificed. So you'd better bring some self-defense items!"
Denise found Murphy's words difficult to understand, but she still grasped his good intentions.
"Thank you!"
After thinking for a moment, Teresa decided to hand the gun over to Claire.
The organization assigns numbers to the Claymores based on their strength. Generally, there are 47 Claymores per generation. The lower the number, the stronger the Claymore.
Before her defection, Teresa was the organization's No. 1, and widely recognized as the strongest No. 1 in history, so she didn't feel she would encounter any danger. Claire, on the other hand, was just an ordinary human girl who needed this thing's protection more.
Claire hugged the little pistol to her chest like a precious treasure and kept Murphy's words firmly in mind.
"Goodbye, manager!"
Although she had considered staying in this world before, when it came time for Teresa to leave, she did so decisively and without any hesitation.
If she arrived full of worries, she left brimming with energy and anticipation.
After all, if given the choice, who would truly want to leave the hometown that gave them birth and raised them?
Chapter Fourteen Jamila's Transformation Project
Before leaving the store, Claire turned back and waved to Murphy and Jamila.
"What a lovely child!"
Claire's well-behaved appearance made Jamila miss her family and daughter even more.
"However, I never expected that a world filled with man-eating monsters would exist. Indeed, the world is diverse!"
Jamila felt sorry for Denise and Claire.
Murphy looked at him strangely: "You actually have the energy to sympathize with them? Compared to their world, the Earth you live on is infinitely more dangerous!"
