"This is Monster Tavern."
"Monster?" The three greatswordsmen looked at each other, the word sounding anything but good.
"Yes. The manager here is an alien, and his employees are all monsters."
What is an alien?
Similar questions arose again at the drinking party.
Denise pointed to the sky above her head: "The stars above us are actually planets just like the world beneath our feet. And on some of those planets live races that are completely different from humans. They are aliens."
The three greatswords instinctively looked up following her finger, only to see the ceiling of the bar.
They lowered their heads and looked at Denise, their six eyes as innocent and bewildered as those of newborn babies.
Teresa's words left the three greatswords speechless.
The organization did teach them academic subjects when training the greatswords, but that was all to make it easier for them to slay demons.
They don't even understand the concept of the universe, let alone the geocentric model.
"You mean those people actually came from the stars?" Sofia's eyes were already darting around.
"So there's actually a ball under our feet?" Royal looked incredulous. "How could that be! If the world were a ball, wouldn't we have fallen off long ago?"
"Just think of it as another world." She wasn't good at explaining these things to begin with. Besides, when Jamila explained it to her, she only had a vague understanding. It was really asking too much of her to explain it to someone else now.
"This is a tavern that connects countless worlds, and the world we live in is just one of them."
"So, you learned about the organization's darkness here?" Ineli was the only one of the three Claymores who could still maintain a semblance of composure. Although she couldn't understand, after observing carefully for so long, she noticed that the other guests' appearances and attire were indeed different from those in their world. She didn't think that Teresa, with her strength, would need to go to such lengths to deceive her. Nor did she think she had the ability and resources to organize such a large-scale deception.
“You could say that,” Denise agreed with her guess. After all, if it weren’t for Jamila and Murphy’s analysis, she probably wouldn’t have doubted the organization’s intentions at all.
This isn't a matter of intelligence, but rather a difference in cognition. Having grown up within an organization, they simply don't think about abstract issues like the past and history.
“I went to some places to investigate the history of this world. However, without exception, including that small town just now, there are no written records about the past. All that has been passed down are some vague rumors passed down orally.”
Ineli frowned. She had never cared about history before, but at this moment, she instinctively sensed that something was wrong. "Only the organization could do something like this. But why would they do it?"
A strong sense of unease washed over her. Ineli realized that the darkness Teresa spoke of might not be untrue.
“Who knows?” Denise didn’t directly voice her doubts.
Ineli and the others are still loyal to the organization. They've come with me now only because of their doubts, not because they've truly decided to betray it. If I were to rashly tell them that the organization might be related to the origins of the demons, it might backfire.
Chapter 77 Have you betrayed us too?
A silence spread between Teresa and Irene.
Royal felt extremely uncomfortable: "What kind of riddles are you two talking about? And where's Fisna? Teresa, didn't you just hand Fisna over to that strange guy?"
Claymore's eyesight far surpasses that of ordinary people, so when Teresa handed the monster ball containing Fissna to Murphy, they both saw it.
Denise nodded: "That's the manager of this tavern. He might be able to turn Fissna back."
"Turn back? Does that mean repairing Fissna's limbs?" Sofia rested her chin on her hand. Compared to difficult topics like stars and the universe, she preferred to talk about this. At least she knew what Denise was talking about.
“That’s not all.” Denise winked slyly. “The shopkeeper might have a way to turn Fissna back into a human.”
"You must be joking!"
Sophia, who had been smiling, stared at her in astonishment: "This kind of joke is not funny at all."
"You haven't been lying to us all along, have you?" Luo Yalu couldn't help but question.
The atmosphere at the table became tense again, and Claire, who had been silent, nervously clutched the hem of Denise's clothes.
Denise gently patted Claire's head, signaling her not to be afraid. Then she swept her indifferent gaze over Sofia and Royal.
“I have no reason to lie to you, do I?” Although there was no murderous intent about her, what Teresa said next still sent chills down their spines: “If I wanted to kill you, it wouldn’t even take a minute.”
At that moment, Jamila came over carrying a tray.
"Four beers, a glass of orange juice, and a kids' meal. And here's a complimentary hot towel." He arranged the drinks one by one, his movements steady and efficient. The orange juice and kids' meal were placed in front of Claire.
The once outstanding astronaut has now become a respectable waiter.
This interruption eased the tense atmosphere.
"So what's the price? No matter where this is, a pub or anywhere else. If you want to become human again, you have to pay something, right?"
Ineli remained calm.
Compared to Sofia and Royal, she was actually more inclined to believe Teresa.
Whether it's the seemingly magical door that appeared out of nowhere when you entered, or the magical lighting fixtures and luxurious decor that you could never see outside the bar, it all proves that this place is indeed extraordinary.
This might not be the divine realm they had previously guessed. But if it allows free connection to countless worlds, then it's no different from the divine realm.
"Demons and Awakeners".
"Huh?" X3.
"This is my agreement with the shopkeeper. I help him capture demons and awakened beings, and he will give me a way to deal with demons and organizations, and incidentally help me find a way to restore humans and awakened beings to human form."
"What? These are the only conditions?"
Luo Yalu picked up his wine glass and took a big gulp.
"Pah, this tastes awful!" To avoid awakening as much as possible, these greatswords were extremely restrained in their material desires. So this was Royal's first time drinking alcohol.
"Idiot!" Sofia first mocked her arch-rival, then quietly put down the wine glass she was halfway up and asked Denise, "Is this all you need?"
These greatswords were originally meant to slay demons and awakened beings, so this condition was just a side benefit.
“The shopkeeper said that unique creatures like demons and awakened beings are hard currency in the universe,” Denise said, shrugging.
To be honest, she doesn't actually know much more about drinking than these people.
"I've only been here once before. If I hadn't met you guys this time, I was planning to capture a few Awakened Ones first before coming here."
"Is it necessary to use that red and white ball to capture demons and awakened beings?" Inelli asked in more detail.
“If you’re confident you can keep them from resisting, you probably don’t need to.” Teresa finished speaking, then looked at Ineli with amusement: “What, have you already decided to betray the organization?”
Upon hearing the words "betrayed the organization," Sophia and Royal, who had been laughing and joking, fell silent.
Irene looked directly into Teresa's eyes, and their gazes met.
“Denesha.” Her voice sounded calm. “The information about the organization’s darkness is only your side of the story. I won’t betray the organization so easily.”
Denise smiled faintly. She wasn't surprised at all that Irene would say that.
This person has always been very opinionated, and persuading her is no easy task.
“But,” Inellie continued, “what you’ve said…whether it’s the destroyed historical records or the restoration of the greatsword to human form…it doesn’t seem like a lie.”
She paused, carefully considering her words.
"So, I will investigate on my own. I will use my own eyes to see what the organization's darkness is and what the truth of the world is."
Teresa still wore that same smiling expression, but her eyes held a deeper depth: "This kind of behavior is tantamount to betrayal for the organization!"
"As long as I have a clear conscience, that's enough for me." Ineli maintained her indifferent expression.
"And what about you two?" Denise asked Sofia and Royal.
"You two were speaking in riddles the whole time, we didn't understand a word you said!" Luo Yalu complained first.
"But now that we're here, it's impossible to just blindly follow the organization like before! Hey, Inellie, would you mind having another companion?"
“Me too!” Sofia raised her hand as well.
"Wow, don't copy me!" Luo Yalu complained.
"I didn't copy you. I just wanted to act with Inelli!"
Looking at the two arguing, Ineli's lips curled up slightly: "Aren't you afraid of being hunted down by the organization?"
Luo Yalu held the back of his head with both hands and pouted, "What's there to be afraid of when the few of us are together? Unless the organization has another Fissna!"
Sofia nodded.
“Alright, let’s work together from now on.” Ineli also felt that working together was the best option. After all, they didn’t have the strength of Teresa to ignore the organization’s pursuit.
Denise was in a good mood. Although the three of them said they didn't intend to betray them, the organization certainly didn't think so. If she continued to poach their members like this, she might be able to hollow out the organization without even needing the store manager's help.
"It's so bitter!" Sofia finally couldn't resist and took a sip of beer, then her whole face scrunched up.
"Hahaha!" Royal laughed wildly, then took a big gulp of his drink triumphantly: "You're still too green!"
"By the way, Teresa, can we come here again in the future?"
Unlike the other two childish girls who were obsessed with bickering, Ineli was seriously thinking about her next steps.
If they can freely enter and leave bars, then the convenience and security of subsequent actions will be greatly improved.
Chapter Seventy-Eight: The Rolling Tanuki (Happy Children's Day!)
"Perhaps," Denise wasn't entirely sure either. Just then, Murphy finished and returned to the bar, so Denise simply raised her hand and asked, "Manager, can these girls come to the bar on their own from now on?"
Murphy nodded: "Any guest who has been here once can open the bar door on their own anytime, anywhere."
"Great!"
Ineli and the others cheered immediately. It would be a lie to say they didn't want to come to such a magical place. Moreover, they were all well-trained warriors, and after a little thought, they, like Teresa, immediately grasped its strategic significance.
“No wonder you were so confident before.” Royal looked at Denise: “So you can come to the bar anytime.”
“Idiot, even if you didn’t come to the bar, Teresa could easily take care of us.” Sofia complained, “Even with Fiesna who was about to awaken, Teresa only unleashed 10% of her demonic power.”
Even Ineli couldn't help but exclaim, "No wonder the organization considers you the strongest No. 1 in history. You're a monster!"
Just moments ago, these people were at loggerheads, ready to fight to the death, but now they're chatting and laughing without any awkwardness.
Claire, who was eating a children's meal, looked at the adults with a puzzled expression. She felt the adult world was so complicated. But when she glanced at Teresa's profile and noticed her smile was gentler than usual, she realized that complexity didn't matter; as long as Teresa was happy, that was all that mattered.
Despite ordering only the cheapest beer and not even having any snacks, the four greatswordsmen chatted more and more happily.
They talked about everything under the sun: from the pain of transplanting demon flesh and blood, to the hardships of training, and the combat experience after becoming greatswords... This carefree and joyful conversation with friends was something they had never experienced before.
Just as they were enjoying this rare and pleasant time, new guests arrived at the bar.
……
"My destiny has come to an end!"
Sitting on the railing, Sakurai Keikazu made a remarkable declaration.
"I failed the interview, I'm so miserable, sister!" he complained to his sister on the other end of the phone.
Despite his intimidating statement, he actually failed the interview simply because he told the interviewer that his life goal was world peace.
Don't be so gloomy!
Sakurai Sara, the older sister, is an ordinary office worker. She went to the hallway after receiving a call from her younger brother. Hearing his tearful complaints, she felt both amused and heartbroken.
"Let me treat you to something nice to eat!"
His sister's comforting words made Jinghe feel a little better. Looking at the lottery station by the roadside, he couldn't help but sigh, "If only God could let me win the lottery, and I could live a carefree life forever!"
Sakurai Sara teased her younger brother, "Stop dreaming unrealistically. If you had money for lottery tickets, wouldn't you have donated it to animals in need by now?"
"I'm pursuing inner happiness!"
Sakurai Kagekazu is 22 years old. He is a third-year student at Horizuka University, currently on summer vacation. His hobbies include volunteering, and his special skill is cooking. His life's dream is world peace and for everyone to achieve happiness.
He could be described as a rare, genuinely kind person in this day and age. However, this trait did not help him in his job search; in fact, it became an obstacle.
After sighing again, Sakurai Kagekazu decided to put this worry aside for the time being. He asked into the phone, "By the way, what are you planning to treat me to?"
Sakurai Sara pouted cutely: "If our world were to be destroyed today, what would you want to eat?"
Sakurai Kagekazu laughed: "You need to ask me about something like this!"
From the very beginning, there couldn't have been any other answer for him.
"That must be Tanuki Soba!"
Sakurai Sara wasn't surprised, but she was still a little helpless: "Alright then. Let's go eat together during my lunch break!"
"Hmm!" Jinghe, feeling better, hung up the phone and then lowered her head in a daze again.
"The lottery... If I won the lottery, I could eat as much Tanuki Soba as I wanted... And I could use the rest of the money to help people in need... But there are so many people in need in this world, the lottery winnings probably wouldn't be enough..."
As he was thinking, Sakurai Keikazu suddenly noticed that the surroundings had become noisy.
"What happened?" Sakurai Keikazu looked up in surprise and found that a crowd of passersby had formed around them, their faces showing a mixture of shock and curiosity. Some people had even taken out their phones to take pictures...
