I want to become a Kamen Rider
Page 19
"I don't have time to listen to your wailing, Cupid!"
With a swift chop to the head of the suspicious white alien creature on his shoulder, Fan Kang's eyes flashed with malice. The motorcycle engine let out a final, deafening roar, and the crimson body, like an out-of-control meteorite, charged straight toward the center of the battlefield, toward the terrifying lightning strike that was about to engulf W.
Just as the motorcycle was about to crash into the lightning strike, less than five meters from the edge of the first strike, and the scorching blast wave had already begun to lick the motorcycle's exterior, Fan Kang released his grip.
It's not about slowing down, but about completely giving up control of the speed.
Immediately afterwards, the hand that released the accelerator opened and tightened its five fingers in an instant, gathering all the strength and will in its body, and with a resolute determination to crush everything, it slammed down like a warhammer onto the spirit stone that suddenly appeared at its waist.
Om-! ! !
The light exploded, and the blazing white light, like living vines, instantly wrapped around, covered, and solidified. The crimson knight replaced the motorcycle, standing perfectly between W and the several bolts of lightning.
He slightly raised his head, without saying a word, and slowly raised his right arm covered by armor, his five fingers spread, his palm facing the pale white lightning that was tearing through the sky.
Then, the mines were distributed.
The pale lightning split in two, the blinding light illuminating the entire riverbank as if it were daytime. The energy shockwave exploded in a ring, blowing away all the surrounding sand, stones, and broken reeds.
However, the seemingly slender outstretched right arm remained motionless, and the violent lightning energy was forcibly blocked and eliminated. If one did not know the principle behind it, from the perspective of an outsider, it would appear as if the crimson knight had... severed the lightning.
In mythology, it is the power ruled by great gods, a symbol of divine might, which is severed by mortals.
The light faded, and the crimson knight slowly lowered his arm, the lightning dissipating. He turned his head slightly, looking behind him at W, who had just struggled to his feet from the mud, his armor covered in scorch marks and scratches. From beneath the visor came Fan Kang's voice, which, though processed, still retained its steady quality:
"Sorry, I was discussing something with Kyubey on the way, so I'm a little late, W. That guy..."
He turned his gaze back to the uncertain weather contaminant, slowly clenching his right fist. The joints of his armor clanged as they rubbed together, and a burst of flame rose from his hand.
"Leave it to me."
Chapter Twenty-Five: The Black Savior and the Evil King's True Eye
After speaking, he threw out the crimson flame.
The flames wrapped around the Crimson Knight's right arm surged, and the flames were not the usual orange-red, but a deep, concentrated, almost incandescent golden color, radiating terrifying high temperature.
The uncertain weather contaminant seemed to sense a deadly threat, letting out a sharp screech and wildly waving its arms. In an instant, the howling wind condensed into a visible, swirling, pale vortex, like several roaring wind dragons. At the same time, the dark clouds above its head surged again, brewing even more violent lightning.
However, the Crimson Knight was much faster.
Without dodging or blocking, the man beneath the mask simply threw a seemingly ordinary punch—his right fist, burning with blazing golden flames—at the oncoming wind dragon and the impending thunderstorm's center. Without even a roar, he uttered two words:
"Burn to ashes."
Wherever the fist struck, crimson-gold flames spread, instantly piercing through the roaring wind dragon.
The pale cyclone, as fragile as thin paper, was vaporized the instant it touched the fire, before it could even utter a mournful cry. The common sense of wind fueling fire was overturned at this moment, and even the thunder was annihilated.
If you look at the Crimson Knight's battle from the perspective of other contracted knights, you'll find it absurd.
There's always a feeling that what the other party is using isn't fire. Who uses fire to burn away wind or electricity? Fire should be a byproduct of wind and electricity. What the other party is doing seems more like igniting, decomposing, and annihilating the phenomenon itself at the most microscopic level.
Just like before our eyes, the weather hybrid's body, covered in twisted metal, was like an ice block thrown into the core of the sun. Without even struggling, it quickly melted and vaporized in the blinding white light, leaving not a trace behind.
All that remained was a huge crater, melted instantly by the high temperature, with glass-like edges, and a strange, burnt smell permeating the air, like ozone being ionized.
The raging winds subsided, and the churning thunderclouds vanished as if wiped away by an invisible hand. Only the lingering energy ripples and the ravaged battlefield remained on the riverbank.
The crimson knight stands there, as if etched with the image of victory.
The reinforcements merely threw a punch, flames rose, and then the enemy vanished.
The crimson knight withdrew his fist, the blazing golden flames on it quietly extinguished. He stood silently at the edge of the molten crater, his crimson armor reflecting a cold, hard luster in the setting sun, as if the earth-shattering, sea-boiling blow he had just delivered was merely an illusion.
On the other side, the wounds on Kamen Rider W's body were slowly repaired by the power of the contract. The green and black armor glowed, and quickly faded and dissipated like pieces of a disassembled puzzle.
Two figures were revealed in the light.
On the left is a tall, composed young woman. She has long, flowing, dark purple hair tied in a simple ponytail. Her face is beautiful, and her eyes are calm with a hint of barely perceptible weariness. This is Takanashi Touka, whom Fan Kang knows.
On the right was a slightly shorter girl with purple hair, but her hairstyle was more disheveled. She had a pair of bright, energetic eyes, and was currently clutching her chest, panting heavily. Her face was flushed from the battle, and for some reason, she seemed somewhat resentful. She was dressed in slightly exaggerated gothic-style clothing, and wore a strangely shaped eyepatch over her right eye. This was Rikka Takanashi, whom Fan Kang knew.
Because Rikka Takanashi made a contract with Kyubey without permission, Fan Kang joined in out of concern for his sister's safety. The two fought together as the Twin Riders W. This is the Takanashi sisters that Fan Kang knew.
Putting aside Rikka Takanashi, Toka is still quite capable.
Fan Kang also had a good impression of the Takanashi sisters, because they were one of the few contract knights who were willing to do some work. That's why he rushed over so urgently after receiving their distress call.
No matter how powerful someone is, as long as they remain among humanity, no one can fight alone.
"Phew...phew...I'm saved."
Shi Hua let out a long sigh of relief, rubbed her slightly sore shoulders, and turned her gaze to Fan Kang, her tone sincere and solemn:
"Thank you so much for your timely help, senior. If it weren't for you, my sisters and I would probably..."
She bowed slightly in thanks, her movements meticulous.
However, before she could finish speaking, Liu Hua suddenly jumped up, pointing at Fan Kang. To be honest, she was quite envious of how this guy could be so full of energy after just getting a beating.
"Kukuku! This time, Toka and I were careless and got ambushed by that wretched gas bastard! I, Takanashi Rikka, the Evil King's True Eye, will remember this favor! But next time! Next time we meet, I will definitely turn the tables and save you! Just wait, Black Savior!"
Why do I even need to spell out the English words...? What is this "black savior" thing? Is it talking about me...?
Fan Kang was inwardly complaining.
"Boom!"
There was a muffled sound.
With a blank expression, Toka's right hand transformed into a swift chop, precisely and skillfully striking Rikka on the head. The force was just right, causing Rikka to crouch down and clutch her head in pain, letting out a "Ouch!"
Speaking of which, the chop he used to strike Mizutani Migen was something he learned from Toka after meeting the Takanashi sisters.
"Ouch! What are you doing, Touka?!" Rikka protested, her eyes brimming with tears.
"Give me a proper thank you, you silly little sister!" Toka's voice carried an unquestionable authority. She pressed down on Rikka's head with one hand and her sister's back with the other, forcing her to bow in Fan Kang's direction.
"I'm so sorry, senior, my sister was rude. Thank you again for saving my life!"
Rikka, pinned down by her older sister, could only pout resentfully and mumble indistinctly, "...Thank...thank you...Black Savior..."
"You're welcome."
Fan Kang nodded to Shika in a calm tone, his gaze sweeping over Rikka, who was still squatting on the ground rubbing her head. "As for saving me... let's talk about that after you've mastered using your 'Evil King's True Eye'."
It was impossible to tell whether he was joking or serious when he said that; in fact, he himself didn't know. He just wanted to vent.
At the opportune moment, Kyubey jumped back onto Fan Kang's shoulder, looked at Touka with his ruby-like eyes, then at Rikka who was still complaining softly, and finally leaned close to Fan Kang's ear, whispering something in a slightly seductive voice that only he could hear.
This guy could just express his true feelings directly, but he deliberately does this out of a twisted sense of humor...
'Kang-kun, look, the Takanashi sisters are also good potential stocks. Toka is mature and reliable, Rokka is full of energy... Of course, yours is more special and more likely to produce huge energy...'
Fan Kang completely ignored Qiu Bi's rambling.
He flipped himself onto the motorcycle, and the engine let out a low growl.
"gone."
He simply told the two sisters and twisted the accelerator.
"Please take care, senior." Shihua bowed slightly again.
"Hey! Black Savior! Next time I'll make you look at me in a whole new light!"
Rikka covered her head and jumped up, shouting.
Fan Kang rubbed his forehead, then, as if remembering something, turned around casually and asked:
"By the way, why do you call me the Black Savior instead of the Red Savior? I usually fight in red in front of you, right?"
"Because black sounds cooler!"
Liu Hua spoke with absolute certainty.
"..."
As expected, the fear that someone with chuunibyou (middle school syndrome) would see through something is just asking for trouble.
The crimson motorcycle, carrying the boy and the suspicious white alien creature on his shoulder, sped away, quickly disappearing at the end of the riverside road, leaving behind only the molten crater, the ravaged riverbank, and the two sisters who had survived the ordeal.
Shi Hua looked in the direction where Fan Kang had disappeared, her eyes filled with gratitude and a hint of deep thought about the question her senior had specifically asked before leaving.
Rikka, however, didn't think much of it. She clenched her little fist and waved it at the air: "Just you wait! The power of the Evil Eye is limitless! Next time, I'll definitely protect Toka... and that arrogant black savior!"
The river breeze carried the smell of gunpowder and burnt fumes, and also stirred the girls' purple hair.
Takanashi Touka glanced at her younger sister, who was still squatting on the ground.
"Arise, Rikka."
Toka's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable calmness. She reached out, not to help, but to precisely pinch the edge of Rikka's crooked eye patch and skillfully straighten it.
"It's over. Let's go get something to eat."
Rikka blinked her teary, blurry eyes, not quite understanding at first: "Huh? Eat...eat what?"
"Ice cream," Shihua said succinctly.
It was as if some magical switch had been flipped.
Just a second ago, Rikka Takanashi was immersed in the script of "heroine's dignity being thwarted" and "the next time she'll save the hero," but suddenly her left blue eye lit up like a light bulb, and the tears that were welling up in it magically disappeared.
"ice cream!"
The guy suddenly sprang up from the ground, his movement so fast it created a gust of wind, almost bumping into the older sister next to him.
She raised her arms high, as if to embrace the entire sunset sky, and her innocent cheers instantly pierced the tranquility of the riverbank:
"Yay—!!!!!"
The sound was so loud that even Fan Kang, who was far away, heard it.
Kewpie complained:
'That girl is really troublesome. Whoever marries her will never have a peaceful day. I finally understand why Kang-kun still seems so interested in Yukinoshita; I've known them for so long and he has absolutely no interest in them.'
Fan Kang, who was driving the locomotive, remained noncommittal.
The man who slept under the bridge, died from overwork, and took on 70% of the contracted knight's workload simply said:
"This is what I want to protect."

Mizutani Migoko's Diary
[Date: 2011, Cloudy]
"Tomorrow is the day I challenge the strongest Kamen Rider in the Tokyo area, Kuuga. I heard that guy is very strong, sweeping through the surrounding area with unstoppable momentum."
"But it doesn't matter, I will be stronger than him."
"Most contract knights are just ordinary people without any fighting spirit, moved by Kyubey's words and thrown into battle. But I'm different. I'm a martial artist, a martial artist who pursues the strongest."
"No matter the cost, no matter the consequences, I will become the strongest."

"We lost."
"There's nothing shameful about it. In martial arts, those who have mastered it are the teachers."
"Once you've seen that punch, you can understand that your opponent actually put in far more effort and honed their skills more than I have."
"That man named Fan Kang was different from his peers, and even from many masters I knew. He had absolutely no interest in flashy and elegant moves; he only cared about how to 'hit' and 'kill' the enemy, regardless of the means or methods."
"More than a martial artist, he was like... a soldier who fought bloody battles just to survive."
"That's amazing, absolutely amazing."
