“Grandfather, you’ve lost,” Tendou Kisara said indifferently.
Kikunojo Tendo regained his senses and murmured, "Yes, I lost... If only I were a few years younger..." He then shook his head and continued, "No, the head of the Tendo family won't make excuses for his defeat. You are strong, Kisaragi. You have surpassed me. The future hope of the Tendo family rests on your shoulders. Let's fight!" Kikunojo Tendo's words revealed a resolute and relieved air, as if at this moment he had let go of all his obsessions and resentment. His eyes became clear and deep, as if they could see through all the illusions of the world.
Tendou Kisara's hand trembled slightly as she raised the Snow Shadow high, poised to strike.
Ah, no, you're serious! If this strike lands, it'll truly be a case of grandfather and daughter being filial. Jiu Xiao rushed over and grabbed the falling snow shadow of Tian Tong Musang, stopping it steadily in mid-air.
Jiuxiao's strength is now vastly different from what it used to be. After he completely took over Xiaoyuan, his strength has taken a giant leap forward.
Now, with his body enhanced by magic, ordinary swords and blades can hardly harm him. Moreover, Kyuuyou could clearly sense that Kisaragi had held back his power at the last moment. Therefore, it seems that even without his intervention, Kisaragi wouldn't have actually killed Kikunojo.
Tendou Kisara turned to look at Jiuxiao, a hint of surprise flashing in his eyes, but he quickly regained his coldness. "Jiuxiao, why are you stopping me?"
Jiu Xiao's lips twitched. This woman's acting was truly impressive. She clearly hadn't intended to kill him. Her current posture was obviously an attempt to save face. But didn't Yuan Jiu Xiao have any pride? After thinking for a moment, Jiu Xiao decided to give Tian Tong Mu Geng the face he deserved.
"Kisara-nee, calm down. Even if Kikunojo Tendo deserves to die, you can't do it yourself. I don't want you to bear the stigma of patricide, which would be bad for your future reputation and the reputation of the Tendo family." Kyusho said earnestly, making it seem as if Kikunojo Tendo was really going to kill her grandfather with a single blow.
Upon hearing this, Tendo Kisara's cold expression softened slightly. She gave Kyusho a deep look, as if assessing the truthfulness of his words. After a moment, she slowly put down the Snow Shadow in her hand, her tone carrying a hint of barely perceptible relief: "You're right, I can't let the Tendo family be disgraced because of me. Although the Tendo family's reputation has long been ruined." Tendo Kisara put away the Snow Shadow and smiled self-deprecatingly.
Seeing this, Kikunojo Tendo remained completely unfazed, as if he already knew the outcome. Finally, Kikunojo Tendo gave Kusho a subtle glance, the meaning of which was unclear.
After straightening his clothes, which had become disheveled from the battle, Tendo Kisara said to Kyuu, "I'm leaving. It seems this place is never right for me. And Grandpa, I'll spare your life for now. Remember to manage the Tendo family's assets for me; they now belong to me."
Kisara Tendo turned and left with a flourish, never stepping inside the Tendo family compound. The onlookers from the Tendo family breathed a sigh of relief; the sword of Damocles hanging over their heads had finally disappeared, and the tense atmosphere dissipated with Kisara's departure. Only Kikunojo Tendo's arm remained raised in the air, unable to utter a word.
After leaving Tian Tong's house, Jiu Xiao felt like he'd forgotten something, but he couldn't quite remember what it was. Oh well, he decided to stop thinking about it. Something that could be forgotten couldn't be important! Probably...
Meanwhile, after discovering that his men in Tokyo had completely lost contact, Ziyuan Xianyi felt a sense of foreboding. He abruptly stood up and paced back and forth, trying to calm himself down. Ziyuan Xianyi's intuition told him that all of this was inextricably linked to Jiuxiao. Moreover, he couldn't contact Jiuxiao at all and could only worry anxiously at home alone.
The capture of the Five Flying Society's members in Tokyo was carried out with great secrecy, and very few people knew about it. Even now, Zi Yuan Xian Yi is still unaware of what happened. Since Jiu Xiao and his dedicated communication device have been in the system space for a long time, Zi Yuan Xian Yi naturally cannot contact them.
The next day, the detailed inventory of the Tendo family's assets was gradually delivered to Jiuxiao's villa. Each item had undergone meticulous auditing and organization, clearly indicating that Tendo Kikunojo had no intention of going back on his word. Jiuxiao glanced at it and was utterly shocked. The Tendo family was truly wealthy—no, they were richer than a country.
The Tiantong family's industrial chain covers all aspects, from cutting-edge technology to traditional manufacturing, from financial services to real estate development. The Tiantong family's industrial network is intricate and complex, touching almost every economic artery of the country. Jiu Xiao couldn't help but sigh, no wonder the Tiantong family could control so many things in the shadows; such economic power was enough for them to wield considerable influence in Japan.
What surprised Jiuxiao even more was that the Tiantong family actually owned the world's largest ruthenium mine, a valuable commodity in the Black Bullet world. Its value far exceeded that of oil and gold in peacetime. To put it simply, in peacetime, without oil and gold, you might find yourself unable to move an inch. But in the Black Bullet world, without ruthenium, you would lose the weapon and shield against Gastrea, which could be fatal.
Hua is not only a key material for manufacturing anti-gut animal weapons, but also the core of strategic resources in the new era, and its importance is self-evident.
Jiu Xiao stared at the detailed information about the flower mine in his hand, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He realized that as long as he controlled this mine, wouldn't he have the funds to rebuild the army? Then, by placing some people in the military, wouldn't Tokyo be under his control, Yuan Jiu Xiao's?
Oh no, the Holy Emperor has become a puppet again!
That being said, Jiu Xiao had no intention of interfering with the Holy Emperor. As long as she did not harm his own interests, he was willing to let her do whatever she wanted.
Along with these industry details came the predicament the Tiantong family was currently facing. All these problems were bound into a booklet and placed before Jiuxiao. Jiuxiao flipped through the pages, his brow gradually furrowing. These problems were simple in some ways, and difficult in others. If one had to summarize them in a single sentence, it would be—"When the wall is falling, everyone pushes it down."
One whale falls, and all things spring to life. The downfall of the Tiantong family has stirred up inappropriate thoughts in many, who are now eager to seize a share of the family's assets from its ruins. Especially the flower mines—a strategic resource that the Tiantong family, in its current position, simply cannot hold onto. In any country, without connections in the political arena, wealth is like a tree without roots, unable to last. The Tiantong family's predicament stems precisely from their loss of power in the political arena. Those politicians who once fawned over them are now like sharks smelling blood, baring their fangs and preparing to carve up the Tiantong family's assets.
Recalling the look that Tendo Kikunojo had given him yesterday, Jiuxiao belatedly realized he might have been used. "Used" might be an exaggeration; Tendo Kikunojo wanted Jiuxiao to protect the Tendo family's legacy, so he orchestrated a scheme to have Tendo Kisara inherit the family business. After all, Tendo Kisara was his own granddaughter; with so many children, what difference did it make who inherited it?
Considering the current situation, there's a high chance that the family business wouldn't be preserved if it were passed on to someone else in the Tiantong family. So, it's better to just give it to Tiantong Mugeng. With Jiuxiao as his backer, preserving the family business shouldn't be a problem, and he might even be able to advance further. Jiuxiao can also gain tangible benefits; with the Tiantong family's help, he can do many things.
Sure enough, there's no such thing as a free lunch. Jiuxiao cursed the old fox inwardly, but couldn't help admiring Tendou Kikunojo's cunning and shrewdness. After going through such a long and complicated process, he was ultimately willing to risk his own life for the Tendou family's survival. His courage and control over people's hearts were simply amazing!
That night, after a long-awaited romantic encounter with Xiaoyuan, Jiuxiao fell into a state of deep meditation. His mind blank, he suddenly remembered that he hadn't dealt with that old man, Ziyuan Xianyi. No wonder Jiuxiao had been feeling uneasy lately; this was the problem. Without further ado, Jiuxiao took out his dedicated communication device from his system space. Although it was late at night, he was confident that old man Ziyuan Xianyi was still awake. With such a major incident, that old man was probably frantic with worry.
Sure enough, shortly after the call connected, Zi Yuanxian's furious voice came through the receiver: "Damn it, you actually dare to contact me! All the people I sent over there have gone missing, you must be the one behind this!"
Xiao Yuan, who was taking a nap nestled in Jiu Xiao's arms, was startled by the sudden roar. She opened her eyes groggily and asked curiously, "Jiu Xiao Jun, who is calling you so late and why are they so angry?"
Jiu Xiao gently patted her back to reassure her, then continued his call with Zi Yuanxian on the other end of the line, intending to play another trick on this old man.
"Mr. Ziyuan, don't get so angry. It's not what you think. I'm absolutely loyal to the organization. You didn't even ask me anything before you started criticizing me. That's really disheartening. I offered my heart to the bright moon, but the bright moon shone on the gutter. Alas, I've misplaced my trust in you." Jiuxiao said, feigning grievance, but his tone carried a hint of barely perceptible mockery.
Upon hearing this, Zi Yuanxian felt that Jiu Xiao's words seemed to make some sense; he had indeed acted impulsively. However, the thought of all his men losing contact still filled him with rage. He took a deep breath, trying to calm his tone, and said, "Mr. Yuan, don't rush to complain. Explain things to me clearly. Why have all my men lost contact? What exactly happened?"
Jiuxiao chuckled and said, "Mr. Ziyuan, are you doubting my loyalty? The people you sent are all alive and well, enjoying themselves as 'guests' at the Holy Emperor's place. It's perfectly normal that you can't contact them; perhaps they've forgotten all about home?" Jiuxiao deliberately emphasized the word "guests," the sarcasm in his words was self-evident.
Upon hearing this, Ziyuan Xian's face instantly turned ashen. He roared, "You brat, how dare you mock me like this! Do you know the consequences of your actions?"
Jiuxiao smiled nonchalantly and said, "Oh, consequences? What consequences? I've eaten so many fruits, but I don't know what the consequences taste like. Mr. Ziyuan, why don't you tell me, so that I, a frog in a well, can broaden my horizons?"
Zi Yuanxian, enraged, laughed coldly: "Fine, fine, since you're so reckless, I'll grant your wish. Just wait and experience the agony of being pierced by ten thousand insects. Let me tell you, the antidote I gave you every month wasn't an antidote at all, but a catalyst for another kind of slow-acting poison! It can temporarily suppress the toxins of the Heart-Eating Pill, but it can't last. The reason you're alive now is only because the toxins haven't accumulated to the point of triggering. But how long do you think you can hold out? In less than a year, both toxins will erupt together. Then, let's see how you still dare to be so stubborn!"
Jiuxiao narrowed his eyes and said in a chilling tone, "So, you Five Flying Society never intended to give me a way out from the start?"
Zi Yuanxian sneered, as if he could already see Jiu Xiao struggling in agony before finally dying. His tone was filled with pleasure and disdain: "Hmph, do you think we're as naive as you, truly believing in so-called loyalty? In the face of absolute self-interest, everything is nothing but fleeting clouds. You're nothing but a dog in our hands, a dog used to muddy the stagnant waters of Tokyo. Now that you, this dog, dare to bite your master, it's time for you to be discarded."
P.S.: The next dungeon is about to start, so please look forward to it (although not many people will be watching, sadly). By the way, please vote for me, it's almost the end of the month, and the monthly tickets will expire if I don't vote now.
Chapter 127 Xiaoyuan, help me have a baby.
Upon hearing this, Jiu Xiao's lips curled into a cold smile, his eyes flashing with a chilling light: "So that's how it is. It seems I really overestimated the moral bottom line of your Five Flying Societies. But, Zi Yuan bastard, are you so sure I took the antidote you provided?"
Zi Yuanxian's expression changed slightly, and he said incredulously, "No, impossible. If you hadn't taken the antidote we provided, you should have died from the poison of the Heart-Eating Pill long ago. It's impossible for you to still be alive and kicking after so long..." At this point, Zi Yuanxian began to speak incoherently. A worst-case scenario gradually formed in his mind, making him shudder.
Seeing this, Jiu Xiao's lips curled into an even deeper, cold smile, and he slowly said, "Are you so sure I swallowed the Heart-Eating Pill back then? I think it's you, old man! If I hadn't wanted to wipe you all out in one fell swoop and squeeze some benefits out of you, do you think you would still be alive today?"
Zi Yuan Xian Yi's face turned deathly pale instantly, and his body trembled slightly. He, who had spent his life hunting geese, was now being pecked by them; he, Zi Yuan Xian Yi, who had dominated his entire life, never imagined he would be defeated by a junior.
"What...what exactly do you want?" Ziyuan Xianyi asked in a trembling voice.
"How about that? Of course, I'm sending you to meet God!" Jiu Xiao said matter-of-factly. With that, Jiu Xiao detonated the fire demonic power within Zi Yuan Xian Yi remotely. A scream of agony instantly came from the other end of the phone: "Aaaaah, you bastard, what did you do to me...?"
Even Xiao Yuan could clearly hear the horrific screams coming from the other end of the phone. Her hands unconsciously wrapped around Jiu Xiao's waist as she asked anxiously, "What happened to him?"
After hanging up the phone, Jiu Xiao gently kissed Xiao Yuan's forehead and said without changing his expression, "It's nothing, I just crushed a bug. You should rest well, no one will bother us."
Xiao Yuan looked at Jiu Xiao's calm face, as if nothing had happened, and felt a slight unease in her heart. Although she didn't fully understand the content of the conversation on the phone just now, she could feel a murderous aura from Jiu Xiao's eyes and tone, a ruthlessness she had never seen in Jiu Xiao before.
"Nine Heavens Lord, if you have anything on your mind, you must tell me. Don't keep it to yourself. Although I may not be able to help you, talking about your troubles will make you feel much better." Xiao Yuan's tone was like a spring breeze, tolerant and serene. Her eyes were like a vast starry sky, making one unable to resist drawing in.
A warm feeling welled up in Jiu Xiao's heart. He gently embraced Xiao Yuan's soft, delicate body. The fierce glint in his eyes vanished in an instant, replaced by endless tenderness and doting: "Then... Xiao Yuan, have a child for me..."
The sudden change of topic made Xiaoyuan blush. She lowered her head shyly and said in a voice barely audible, "Jiuxiao Jun, what... what are you saying? Go to sleep, I... I have to go to school tomorrow."
Jiuxiao laughed and let her go. It was just a joke, and he wasn't ready to be a father yet. Besides, after these days of nurturing, Jiuxiao discovered that magical girls really can't get pregnant, at least not magical girls from the Kyubey system. He wondered if Madoka would be sad after discovering the truth, since Madoka's maternal instincts were quite strong.
The next day, Jiu Xiao immediately used his connections to resolve the Tian Tong family's troubles. Having connections makes things easier, a phenomenon present in every country. In particular, when Jiu Xiao proposed using a portion of the chromium mine's output as exchange for rebuilding the army, the previously hesitant officials immediately became enthusiastic, as if Jiu Xiao were their long-lost brother.
These officials weren't fools. Realizing they couldn't swallow the Tiantong family whole, they quickly changed tactics and began seeking cooperation with Jiuxiao. If they couldn't get the meat, a little soup was acceptable; better than nothing. Jiuxiao wasn't bothered by this. There are no permanent friends in this world, only permanent interests. He only cared about the result; the process was unimportant. Besides, the rebuilt army would be managed by people he trusted, so it wasn't a loss for him at all.
Of course, some people will definitely try to profit from this, but as long as they don't go too far, Jiu Xiao won't bother. If you want the horse to run, you have to feed it. After discussing it with Tian Tong Mu Geng, Jiu Xiao decided to offer 45% of the Hua Mine's shares in exchange for the government's full support for the Tian Tong family and resources for military reconstruction.
Under Jiu Xiao's manipulation, the Tian Tong family quickly returned to its former prosperity, and the criticism from major media outlets against the Tian Tong family weakened considerably. Gradually, the Tian Tong family's affairs seemed to have been quietly quelled by an invisible force, and people began to forget the storm, turning their attention to other, more novel topics.
Tendo Kisara has been spending significantly less time at home lately. Taking over the Tendo family is no easy task; she still has much to learn and needs to gradually build her own network of influence to ensure her foothold within the family. Jiuxiao understands her busy schedule and is happy to see her growth and transformation.
During this time, Jiuxiao wasn't idle either. After things settled down in the Black Bullet World, he began preparing to explore the seas of that other world. Jiuxiao purchased a frigate from the Holy Emperor. Since the Gastrea began ravaging this world, the navies of various countries had become practically useless. The Gastrea had become the new overlords of the ocean, roaming freely in this vast blue realm, greatly reducing humanity's ability to explore and control the ocean.
The Tokyo Navy had been almost completely wiped out in several Gastrea battles, and this military reconstruction didn't include the navy, since it wasn't really needed. Humanity was already struggling to defend the land, so how could they possibly care about the ocean? The frigate that Jiuxiao purchased was fortunate enough to avoid direct conflict with the Gastrea because it was launched late, and was thus preserved. Although this frigate wasn't the most advanced, it was sufficient for Jiuxiao's current needs and could support his exploration plans in the alien world's waters.
Jiu Xiao didn't need to worry about manpower either, as the system store had robots with the relevant technology. This frigate was highly automated; basic navigation and maintenance could be completed with just a small number of robots. Jiu Xiao purchased a batch of advanced intelligent robots from the system store. These robots were not only proficient in ship operation and maintenance but also possessed strong combat capabilities, enabling them to protect the frigate's safety when encountering maritime threats.
Meanwhile, the harbor in the other world was nearing completion. Originally a natural deep-water port, it underwent appropriate modifications and expansions, and with construction robots working day and night, it quickly reached operational standards. The harbor's construction not only considered ship berthing and resupply but also defensive capabilities, given the uncharted waters and the ever-present threat of various dangers. Jiuxiao specifically purchased suitable defensive facilities and weapon systems from the system shop and installed them around the harbor to ensure its safety.
The problem was that his Homestead Coins were almost gone. All the Homestead Coins he had painstakingly accumulated were almost completely wiped out in this big purchase. Jiu Xiao couldn't help but feel a pang of regret, but thinking about the upcoming exploration journey to another world, he felt that it was all worth it.
The newly built harbor is quite spacious, and Sanya's Striker Unit can finally be put to use. This is tantamount to fulfilling the promise made to Sanya—to help her build a runway. Although this runway eventually became part of the harbor, it doesn't affect its function as a striker unit for takeoff and landing.
Sania was very satisfied with this and couldn't wait to put on her Striker Unit. She flew around the sea a few times, feeling the sea breeze on her face and feeling free. A smile appeared on her cool face, and she seemed to have been reborn.
Standing on the deck, Jiu Xiao and the others gazed up at Sania's heroic figure, their hearts filled with joy. Indeed, Jiu Xiao had already commanded the robots to pilot the frigate slowly away from the harbor, officially embarking on their adventure in the otherworldly waters. A gentle sea breeze caressed the shimmering surface of the water, and the frigate, like a steel behemoth, cleaved through the waves.
Sania, acting as a "humanoid radar" and scout, provides the frigate with real-time intelligence on the waters ahead. Embarrassingly, the frigate's onboard radar system is not activated due to a shortage of personnel; such a system requires at least twenty or thirty people to operate. Although the system shop offers more advanced and simpler radar systems, unfortunately, resources are limited, so that will have to wait.
Jiuxiao stood alone on the bridge, hands behind his back, exuding confidence and gazing intently at the distant horizon, radiating an air of superiority. No man could resist the allure of piloting a warship across the vast ocean. Just as Jiuxiao was lost in his daydream, Xiaoyuan's anxious voice came from behind.
"Jiuxiao-kun, your hat! Your navy cap blew away in the wind!" Xiaoyuan shouted, pointing to a hat fluttering in the wind on the sea not far away. Jiuxiao had specially ordered it at a high price—not just the hat, but also a complete navy uniform. He dreamed of standing on the bridge like a real naval admiral, commanding with composure. At Jiuxiao's insistence, Xiaoyuan and the others also changed into specially prepared navy-style outfits, each one looking dashing and perfectly matching the atmosphere of the frigate.
Hearing Xiaoyuan's cry, Jiuxiao snapped out of his reverie and looked at his beloved navy hat, which was helplessly swaying in the sea breeze, feeling a pang of annoyance. Just then, a dark figure swept across the sea and swiftly rescued the hat from the water; it was Sania, returning from patrol.
Sania said to Jiuxiao through her earpiece, "Hands up."
Upon hearing this, Jiu Xiao instinctively raised his hands, looking bewildered, and asked, "What's wrong? Sania, what are you doing?"
Sania didn't reply. Instead, she quickly swept across the deck, scooped up Jiuxiao, and carried him in a princess carry like a chick. In the blink of an eye, she flew into the air. As Sania swept across the deck, the strong wind blew the women around, but they didn't bother to straighten themselves. They all stared at the scene in astonishment, completely bewildered.
"Ah, Lord Jiuxiao has been kidnapped," Xiaoyuan murmured, her eyes filled with envy.
Fate was very worried about Jiuxiao's safety and got up to chase after him, but was stopped by Xiaoyuan.
"Don't worry, Fate. Judging from Sania's expression, she probably has something to say to Jiuxiao alone. Let's not disturb them." Although Xiaoyuan said this, a hint of worry was still revealed in her eyes.
Jiuxiao was startled by Sania's sudden action, but he quickly recovered. After all, he had been carried around in the sky by Fate many times. He was used to princess carries and didn't feel ashamed at all.
After flying a distance with Jiuxiao, Sania gradually slowed down, and a clear, melodious voice came from beside her: "Jiuxiao, do you know, I've always wanted to soar through the sky like this again. After crossing over to this world, I thought I would never be able to experience that feeling of free flight again, but I never expected you to help me realize this wish. I can feel the wind whistling in my ears and the sea churning beneath my feet. It feels like those familiar people have returned to my side."
Listening to Sania's story, Jiuxiao felt a pang of self-reproach. He had long ago been able to help Sania realize her wish to fly, but he had repeatedly delayed due to various trivial matters (mainly, he had forgotten). He hugged Sania's neck tightly and said sincerely, "Sania, I'm sorry, I neglected your feelings. From now on, whenever you want to fly, I will be by your side, soaring through the sky with you."
A flicker of emotion crossed Sania's eyes. She gently nuzzled Jiu Xiao's forehead, her voice heavy with emotion, "Hmm... I believe you. Even though you're a womanizer, I still can't help but want to rely on you. I know this feeling is strange. When I was serving in the army, I had such a good relationship with Ella, but I never felt this way. Perhaps, this is what they call 'love'."
Upon hearing Sania's sudden confession, Jiu Xiao blushed deeply. Is this what a Nordic girl is like? He was smitten. At the same time, Jiu Xiao felt even more guilty; he desperately wanted to do something for Sania.
Just as Jiuxiao was struggling with his decision, the system, which hadn't been online for a long time, suddenly popped up.
[Host detected entering a specific sea area, meeting prerequisites. Time-limited mission triggered: Defeat the upcoming enemies within one hour. Reward: Unknown]
Jiu Xiao's eyes lit up, and he pondered to himself that the system wouldn't speak without reason; this mission was very likely related to Sania. Perhaps it could even open a passage to Sania's world. He quickly said to Sania, "Sania, do you want to return to your world and fight alongside your former comrades?"
PS1: Please, yuri fans, have mercy. This is a harem story, and it will definitely break up the original yuri couple.
PS2: The new year has arrived! On this auspicious occasion, I sincerely wish everyone academic success, career advancement, blissful love, and all your dreams come true in the new year. Happy New Year everyone!!!
Chapter 128 Who told you to hold my wife?
Sania thought for a moment and then said, "I...I don't know, but if I could travel freely between the two worlds, I would like to fight alongside my friends again. I don't want to give up easily on either side."
Jiuxiao cupped Sania's pretty face in his hands, smiling as he gazed into her eyes, and said firmly, "Don't worry, Sania, I will definitely find a way for you to travel freely between the two worlds. There's already a successful example. Everything is difficult at the beginning, but I think we still have a great chance. However, before that, we need to deal with our current enemy. Consider it 'rehabilitation' for you. I wonder if you have the confidence to defeat the unknown enemy with me, this 'burden'?"
Sania was taken aback. She immediately used her unique magic—Wide Area Detection—to scan the surrounding sea. After a moment, her brow furrowed and then relaxed. She exclaimed with delight, "Nine Heavens, I didn't find any enemies, but I discovered that the restrictions on my magic power have been lifted, just like back in Tokyo."
"The magic power restriction has been lifted?" Jiuxiao asked in return, while simultaneously sensing the state of his own magic power and showing a look of joy.
"Really? Is it because we've moved far away from that island?" Jiu Xiao guessed.
Sania carefully sensed their current distance from the island and said uncertainly, "Maybe. I can clearly feel that we are about 10 nautical miles away from that island. Is it possible that the magic restrictions within our bodies will automatically be lifted once we are more than 10 nautical miles away from that mysterious island?"
Jiu Xiao was only guessing, and the system didn't give any hints, so he could only shrug helplessly and say, "It seems we can only verify it through experiments. Let's ask Xiao Yuan and the others later."
Just as the two of them were discussing this issue, a thick fog suddenly enveloped the clear blue sea. This fog appeared abruptly, as if it had materialized out of thin air, and rapidly spread, swallowing everything in its path. Visibility plummeted to within a few meters, a truly eerie sight.
Jiuxiao and Sania's expressions simultaneously turned serious. They exchanged a glance; their long-standing camaraderie allowed them to understand each other's next move without needing many words. Jiuxiao immediately pushed his physical abilities to the limit, while Sania unleashed her wide-area detection magic at full power, attempting to pinpoint any trace of the enemy. Fortunately, the dense fog only obscured their vision and didn't significantly interfere with Sania's magical detection. Within the fog, Sania's magical energy surged like a lighthouse, piercing through the mist to pinpoint any potential threats.
After a long while, Sania opened her eyes, her expression a mixture of shock and joy. She hurriedly said to Jiuxiao, "Right in front of us, there are two targets moving this way at high speed. I recognize the magical aura of one of them. If I'm not mistaken, my friend may have been drawn into this world as well."
Upon hearing this, Jiu Xiao's heart skipped a beat, and he quickly asked, "Which friend of yours is it? Are you sure?"
Sania nodded, offering no further explanation, and flew at full speed in the direction she sensed. Suddenly, a beam of red light shot out from the thick fog. Before Jiuxiao could react, Sania had already activated her magical shield. The red beam struck the massive magical shield, erupting with dazzling light, but it failed to penetrate Sania's defenses.
Before Jiu Xiao could even catch his breath, a series of attacks followed, but fortunately, Sania defended against them all. Jiu Xiao wasn't one to sit idly by and wait to be killed; he immediately shot fireballs from his palms in the direction the enemy was attacking.
A series of fireballs exploded in the thick fog. Although the enemy could not be seen directly, the shockwaves and blasts generated by the explosions could disrupt their formation and relieve some of the pressure on Sanya.
While skillfully manipulating her magical shield to deflect the attacks, Sania gazed at the mist ahead and murmured, "That's it, this attack method is definitely from the Neuroi. But why... are those guys here too?" Sania's tone was full of doubt and confusion.
There was no time to think; the distance between them was closing rapidly. Sania shouted a warning, "Jiuxiao, be careful! The enemy is charging at us! They're expected to engage us in 10 seconds. Ten, nine,..."
Jiuxiao was overjoyed. Knowing the enemy's exact location and the timing of their encounter would make dealing with them much easier. His attack power was already quite high, but his range wasn't ideal. After receiving Sania's instructions, Jiuxiao began to accumulate magic power in his hands, preparing to unleash a powerful attack.
"Eight, seven, six..." Sania's countdown echoed through the thick fog, each note pounding on Jiuxiao's taut nerves. His eyes were fixed on the blurry outline ahead, silently counting in his mind, magic gathering in his palm, gradually forming a dazzling orange light.
"Five, four, three..." Jiuxiao took a deep breath, his muscles tensed to the extreme, like a beast poised to pounce. He could feel the surging magical power within him, like a volcano about to erupt.
"Two, one!" Before Sania could finish speaking, Jiuxiao suddenly shot out the fireball he had been holding for a long time.
With a deafening roar, Jiuxiao's attack struck the enemy, the violent explosion erupting in a blinding flash of light and sending up a towering wave of air. Sania, holding Jiuxiao, was caught off guard and thrown backward several meters. Finally regaining his footing, Jiuxiao immediately looked around and saw that half of the enemy he had struck in the thick fog had vanished into thin air. Only half of a dark, metallic-looking unidentified object remained, still steadily suspended in mid-air.
“Nine Heavens, this is the Alien Army. I told you before, the world I live in was mostly destroyed by these things.” Sania’s tone was filled with intense hatred, as if she wanted to tear the other person to pieces. This was the first time Nine Heavens had ever seen Sania like this.
At that moment, an unfamiliar voice came from the mist: "Thank you very much for helping me defeat the enemy. I am Lieutenant Ella Ilmata Yutilenan of the 501st Joint Fighter Wing. May I ask who you are?"
A familiar voice rang in Sania's ears, bringing tears to her eyes. Sania abruptly looked ahead, her eyes gleaming with disbelief. The familiar voice, like a call from across time, awakened deep-seated memories within her. Her voice trembled as she cried out, "Ella? Is that you? Is it really you? It's me, Sania."
In the mist, Ella's figure gradually became clear. She was dressed in a neat blue military uniform and white tights, with a short machine gun slung over her back, and she flew quickly toward Sania.
"Sanya? Is it really you? Am I dreaming?" Ella's voice was filled with disbelief. She stopped a short distance away, her hands trembling slightly as she covered her mouth, tears welling up in her eyes.
As the two drew closer and gradually saw each other clearly, Ella, like a fledgling returning to its nest, suddenly pounced on Sania and pulled her into a tight embrace. The two clung to each other, tears welling in their eyes, completely oblivious to the fact that Sania was holding Jiuxiao in her arms.
Jiu Xiao was completely dumbfounded. He was such a big guy, yet he felt like he was being ignored, as if he were air. Feeling a softness different from Sania's, Jiu Xiao's heart was racing. This unexpected treat left him somewhat bewildered. But, who gave you permission to hold my wife?
Just as Jiuxiao felt a little suffocated, Sania took the initiative to comfort her, saying, "Alright, Ella, don't cry. Aren't we reunited? Look, I even brought you a helper. This is Jiuxiao, he's very capable." Sania gently comforted her, while also introducing Jiuxiao to Ella.
