Volume 1: Chapter 56 Execution
As dusk fell, a convoy bearing the Texas family crest slowly drove into the estate.
Shortly after, Giuseppe, dressed in a suit and tie, stepped out of the armored vehicle in the middle with a gloomy expression.
The loyal old butler stood guard at the door as usual, waiting for his master's return. He stepped forward and greeted Giuseppe.
Before the old butler could speak, Giuseppe asked first, "Has Cellina returned?"
"Master, Miss returned around noon."
The old butler bowed slightly, seemingly wanting to say something but holding back.
As an elder who had served three generations of the Texas family, he could tell that Cherlinina's emotions were very strange at the time.
Don't be fooled by the young lady's expressionless face at the time; it was merely the calm before the volcano erupted.
The old butler's loyalty was beyond question. After hesitating for a long time, he still spoke up to remind her, "Miss seemed a little off when she came back."
"I see."
Giuseppe waved his hand dismissively. He knew perfectly well what he had done, and it was perfectly normal for Cellina to be angry.
But Giuseppe wasn't worried about that. As the head of the Texas family, his control over the family was beyond question. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to declare his intention to completely break away from Syracuse immediately after killing his father.
If he couldn't even unite his family, how could he dare to challenge Madame Sicily's authority?
"Where is she now?"
Despite not being worried, Giuseppe felt it was necessary to reassure his daughter, given the family's current crisis. After all, Cellina was not weak and was a valuable asset.
"She is waiting for you in the study," the old butler replied truthfully, "along with that foreigner."
"Ah."
Giuseppe made a nasal sound and said, "I'll go see her."
Giuseppe's leather shoes rolled across the concrete pavement, the smoke from his cigar leaving a gray trail behind him.
The afterglow of the setting sun slanted across his sharply defined profile, gilding his face with a dark gold hue. His lips were taut into a sharp line, and his grey-blue eyes gleamed coldly in the shadows of his brow bone.
Four ruthless gang leaders, along with their guards, surrounded him like shadows. Their dark suits formed a moving mass of shadows in the twilight, like a silent pack of wolves protecting their alpha.
The crowd walked through the long corridor, their footsteps swallowed up by the heavy carpet.
The moment the iron-fisted hornman pushed open the oak door to the study, the sunlight, like blood, poured in, casting a dark golden halo over Cellina's silhouette.
She was sitting upright behind that mahogany desk.
Behind her, Han Fei leaned against the metal frame of the floor-to-ceiling window. The afterglow of the setting sun gilded his silhouette, but completely obscured his face in shadow.
Giuseppe's leather shoes left a deep dent in the carpet. His gaze swept over the armchair that should have belonged to the head of the family—his seat—but now, his daughter occupied it expressionlessly.
“Celinina, my daughter.”
Giuseppe said in a deep voice, "When you see me return, won't you get up to greet me?"
Cellina stood up, about to speak, when she heard a commotion coming from the courtyard.
Giuseppe frowned, somewhat displeased, and turned to his subordinate, ordering, "Go and see what's going on."
"Yes."
The man in the black suit agreed and turned to leave the study.
Giuseppe withdrew his gaze and walked step by step toward his designated spot.
Cellina stepped aside expressionlessly. She had no interest in sitting there; she was simply waiting for Giuseppe to return and had casually found a place to sit.
Giuseppe was quite pleased with the gesture of rising to offer his seat. He sat upright in the armchair, his expression softening slightly, and said, "From now on, this seat will belong to you, but for now, you..."
Before he could finish speaking, the subordinate who had gone out to scout the situation rushed back and shouted, "Master, something terrible has happened! The Syracuses have blown up the east wall and are already breaking in!"
At that moment, Giuseppe perfectly demonstrated what it means to change one's expression.
One second he was frowning because he'd been interrupted, the next, after hearing his subordinate's report, Giuseppe's pupils contracted sharply. Ignoring the minor details, he jumped to his feet and shouted:
"What are the sentries doing?! They let those Syracuses break in! Summon everyone back immediately! I'll show those Syracuses what the price is for trespassing on Texas territory!"
"Yes, my lord."
The subordinate obeyed the order and hurriedly ran out again.
Giuseppe, still furious, glanced at Cellina beside him and said with displeasure, "What are you still standing here for? Get out of here! The family's enemies have come knocking. Now it's your turn to serve the family."
"Feel sorry."
Cellina raised her hand and silently placed it on the hilt of her sword. She stared at Giuseppe expressionlessly and said, word by word, "You, and everything about this family, disgusts me."
"What do you mean."
Giuseppe's expression darkened, and he silently stepped back.
Behind him, the head of the family's guards reached inside their suits and gripped their weapons, ready to deal with any emergencies.
"literal meaning."
Cellina gripped the hilt of her sword tightly. "Ever since the day I witnessed you kill my grandfather, I've been utterly fed up with all of this. Syracuse, Colombia, it's all dirty scheming. All you see is profit. Even your closest relatives are just pawns to be sold."
The exposure of the scars of patricide by his own daughter made the already extremely depressed man's expression even more ferocious.
Giuseppe clenched his fists instinctively. His remaining rationality told him that it was not the right time to fight amongst themselves. Even if he wanted to teach Cellina a lesson, he should wait until after this crisis was over.
So Giuseppe suppressed his anger and said in a deep voice;
“Celinina, you should know that I also have my reasons. Your grandfather…”
"I do not care."
Cellina drew her longsword, its blade pointed directly at Giuseppe, and said coldly, "I don't care what your reasons are. All I know is that you and your family disgust me."
Seeing that negotiations were failing, Giuseppe completely lost his patience and roared, "What are you all standing there for? Take her down!"
Before Giuseppe's guards could make a move, the man who looked like a golden sculpture by the French windows suddenly "came to life".
His combat boots pounded across the carpet, each step causing the metal fittings on his tactical vest to make a soft clinking sound. Han Fei silently walked across the boundary between sunlight and shadow, finally stopping beside Cherlinina. A cold light refracted from the glass window of the riot shield, perfectly positioned between father and daughter.
He looked up at Giuseppe, this pathetic man, and sighed, "If you had told us beforehand, everything could have been discussed. But now, not only your daughter, but even I, want you dead."
"Where do you think this is?"
Giuseppe completely lost his composure, and in a fit of rage, he laughed and said, "This is my territory, and it's not up to you juniors to run wild!"
Sensing the patriarch's anger, Giuseppe's black-suited guards drew their weapons.
Long swords and crossbows, standard equipment for family members, these weapons that were once only pointed at enemies, are now pointed at their own young lady.
This contrast made the guards, who were loyal to Giuseppe, hesitate – could they really lay a hand on the young lady?
Cellinina was, after all, Giuseppe's own daughter, and this blood bond made the guards even more loyal, making it harder for them to harm Cellinina at this moment.
Noticing his men's hesitation, Giuseppe shouted, "She has betrayed the family and is no longer my daughter. As the head of the family, I order you to kill her!"
Having said all that, the guard finally stopped hesitating and immediately responded:
"Yes, my lord."
The man in the black suit, holding a long knife, silently walked towards Cellina.
It's not hard to see that Giuseppe's guards showed mercy; despite having crossbows, none of them used them.
Perhaps they still harbored the idea of capturing Celinina alive.
But they clearly underestimated Celinina's determination to sever ties with her family.
Two longswords bearing the wolf's head emblem appeared in Cellina's hands, their blades gleaming like frost, crossing in the air to form a deadly cross.
In an instant, two heads flew high into the air, and blood gushed from the headless bodies, splashing a hideous red stain on the expensive carpet.
"Miss..."
One of the iron-fisted gang leaders looked at Cherlinina with some astonishment, his voice full of disbelief.
Cellina said coldly, "Don't call me Miss."
The air in the study suddenly froze.
At this moment, Giuseppe's guards finally understood Cellina's feelings; they all realized that the girl before them had completely betrayed her family.
Suddenly, the trembling hum of the crossbow string tore through the silence.
call out!
Three poisoned crossbow bolts pierced the air, their arrowheads gleaming with a cold, eerie blue light in the setting sun.
However, almost the instant the humming sound began, the sound of the jet engine's airflow drowned out everything else.
The next second, Han Fei, accompanied by a white wave of air, flew to Cherlinina's front while holding a large shield.
The fully deployed full-body blast shield blocked everything for Cellina, and with a series of clanging metallic sounds, all the crossbow bolts fell limply to the ground.
"Sneak attacks are not a good habit."
As Han Fei spoke, his gaze passed over the guards in front of him and landed behind them—Giuseppe Texas was being escorted away by five guards, the rhythm of his expensive leather shoes on the ground betraying the panic he was trying to hide.
"Giuseppe, we haven't settled our score yet. Where are you going?"
"Humph."
Giuseppe snorted coldly and glared angrily at Han Fei.
He had no intention of communicating with Han Fei; he kept walking, only thinking about leaving this dangerous place as soon as possible.
Seeing Giuseppe quicken his pace, Han Fei almost laughed. He mimicked Giuseppe's cold snort and said:
"Hmph! Want to escape?"
The next second, Han Fei suddenly pulled out the Tiger Crouching Cannon and fired a Tiger Crouching Cannon at Giuseppe's front.
Giuseppe's guards had never seen anything like this before.
They thought it was a bomb attack, so they instinctively pulled Giuseppe down to lie down, while using their own bodies to form a human shield for Giuseppe, protecting him from the impact and damage of the explosion.
If the Tiger Crouching Cannon was indeed an ordinary bomb, then their reaction was naturally correct.
Unfortunately, they didn't know what a "tiger crouching cannon" was.
The moment the Tiger Crouching Cannon exploded, the massive impact knocked over the guards who were pinning Giuseppe down, and Giuseppe himself rolled on the ground from the force of the impact.
The noise from behind drew the attention of the guards who were blocking Han Fei's way.
Taking advantage of the enemy's distraction, Han Fei struck again.
The heavy riot shield slammed into the two bodyguards in front of Han Fei, knocking them to the ground with its elbows.
With these two men down, there were no longer any obstacles between Han Fei and Giuseppe.
"Found you."
Han Fei's right hand had somehow been replaced by a grappling hook gun. A single grappling hook shot accurately hit Giuseppe, dragging the unfortunate man who had been knocked over by the tiger crouching cannon in front of Han Fei.
From the moment the tiger crouching cannon hit the target to the hook grappling Giuseppe, the situation had completely changed in just a few seconds.
A muffled explosion echoed in the distance. Flames from the courtyard pierced through the French windows, turning the study a blood-red hue. The setting sun and the raging flames mingled on the expensive carpet. The shouts of the Syracuseans surged over the walls like a tide, growing ever closer.
Giuseppe staggered to his feet, but before he could even stand properly, the muzzle of a Bison submachine gun was already pressed against his forehead.
"Lord Giuseppe!"
The guards were horrified, but because Giuseppe was under someone else's control, they dared not act rashly.
"Leave him to me, let me handle it."
The wolf-headed longsword was held against Giuseppe's neck, and a thin red line was instantly drawn from the sharp blade. Cellina looked coldly at Giuseppe, and there was no warmth of kinship in her beautiful eyes, only icy killing intent.
At that moment, Cellina was filled with murderous intent; she wanted to personally execute Giuseppe, her biological father.
Just like what Giuseppe once did to her grandfather.
"Let me do it."
Han Fei put away his joking tone and said seriously, "Haven't you always wanted to get rid of all this? But if you become like your father, how can you get rid of it?"
The daughter of the patricide becomes the patricide; it's just another cycle.
Moreover, Cellina was a girl with a cold exterior but a sensitive heart. It is foreseeable that the fact that she killed her father will affect her state of mind for a long time to come.
