"He knew we were here, didn't he?"

Fury's voice turned cold.

“He knows it’s me, Nick Fury, waiting for him here!”

Daredevil remained as calm and composed as ever.

"I have conveyed your purpose. The boss will contact you when he has time."

Fury was so angry he almost crushed the communicator in his hand.

He was the former director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now, the tiger has fallen into the plains, and has to be subservient to a street hero who doesn't even dare to show his face.

Are they waiting for the mysterious and unpredictable Lin Feng to "summon" them?

This is simply a shame!

But what can he do?

He now has no identity, no power, and his personal safety is not even guaranteed.

And this is Lin Feng's territory.

The men he brought, though all elite agents, would probably be no match for Lin Feng's superhuman strength.

"ASAP!"

Fury forced out two words through gritted teeth, suppressing his anger.

"Tell Lin Feng that I have something very important to discuss with him! It concerns the future of all of us!"

"I will pass on the message."

Daredevil nodded, saying nothing more, but simply gestured to Lin Feng's men beside him.

"Prepare some drinks for Mr. Fury and his men, and treat them well."

After saying that, Daredevil turned and left the office, leaving Fury and his group looking at each other in bewilderment.

The office door closed again, and a heavy silence enveloped the room.

"He was definitely keeping us waiting on purpose."

Agent Hill said in a low voice, his tone tinged with helplessness.

Coulson sighed.

"Lin Feng is a person who does things completely unpredictably. In his eyes, our coming to him now is probably a provocation."

"provocative?"

Fury whirled around, his single eye blazing with even more fury.

"He destroyed S.H.I.E.L.D.! He ruined years of my hard work! Shouldn't I demand an explanation from him now?"

"Sir, now is not the time to determine who is right and who is wrong."

Colson tried to persuade him.

“We need his help now, or at least… we need to figure out his position. If he is willing to grant us asylum, that would be the best outcome for us.”

.....

201: Nick Fury is furious!

"Hmph, expecting him to provide shelter?"

Fury sneered.

"He's probably just hoping we make a fool of ourselves! He's showing us who's in charge now!"

One of the agents couldn't help but mutter to himself:

"So what do we do now? Just wait here?"

"if not?"

Hill countered with a bitter tone.

"Do we have any other choice now? When you're under someone's roof, you have to bow your head."

Fury didn't say anything more, but simply turned around and looked out the window.

The sight of Hell's Kitchen became even more jarring to his eyes.

He knew Hill was telling the truth, and no matter how angry or resentful he was, reality was just that cruel.

They are now the ones asking for a favor, and it's from the person they least want to ask.

He must be patient.

For survival, for those who remained loyal to him, for…

Perhaps there is still a sliver of hope for reconstruction.

He had to suppress his anger and pride and wait for Lin Feng's "summons".

This feeling was more unbearable for him than any physical pain.

Nick Fury, a man who has spent his life controlling the destinies of others, is now about to hand over his own destiny to someone else.

Moreover, it was in the hands of a young man whom he could not see through at all, and who even had some apprehension about.

A long, oppressive silence fell over the office once again.

Only the ceaseless clamor of Hell's Kitchen outside their window reminded them of their predicament.

Lin Feng let time pass, while Ren Furui and the others continued to wait in that office.

This silent struggle expresses his attitude more effectively than any words.

Three hours passed.

Fury's patience was nearing its breaking point.

He paced back and forth in his office, every minute feeling like torture.

"Sir, perhaps we should come another day."

Hill suggested, her voice weary.

"No!"

Fury turned around abruptly, a resolute glint in his single eye.

“We’re at our wits’ end, Hill. If even this place can’t offer us refuge, where are we going next? To continue hiding in the shadows until we’re caught by Hydra’s minions or government agents?”

Coulson stared silently out the window, his expression complex.

He knew Fury was telling the truth. S.H.I.E.L.D. had collapsed; they had lost almost everything.

Now, this once all-powerful bureau chief is forced to wait outside a young man's door.

Just as Coulson's thoughts drifted away, the door was pushed open again.

"Mr. Lin is willing to see you."

Daredevil announced calmly, his face expressionless.

Fury took a deep breath, straightened his collar, and barely managed to suppress his anger.

"So, you've finally arrived?"

He said sarcastically, but still gestured for Coulson and Hill to follow, heading in the direction Night Demon (Wang Zhao) had indicated.

After walking through several corridors, they were led to a spacious conference room.

Lin Feng was already sitting there, leisurely sipping a cup of black tea.

"Nick Fury, it's been a long time."

Lin Feng put down his teacup, a faint smile appearing on his lips.

"I never expected to meet you again in this way."

Fury stared intently at Lin Feng with his single eye, his voice low and menacing.

....fly.

202: Lin Feng's Protection!

"Lin Feng, I think you know very well why I came here."

"of course."

Lin Feng gestured for the others to sit down.

"S.H.I.E.L.D. has collapsed, Hydra has been exposed, and you've become pariahs. You need a safe haven now, right?"

Coulson and Hill exchanged a tense glance, while Fury slowly walked to the seat opposite Lin Feng.

"More than just a safe haven."

After sitting down, Fury got straight to the point.

"I need your help, Lin Feng. To rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D."

Lin Feng raised an eyebrow, seemingly surprised by Fury's bluntness.

"Rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D."

He chuckled.

"An organization that has been proven to be corrupted by Hydra from within? An organization that is now equivalent to being wanted globally?"

"067 S.H.I.E.L.D. is more than just a name."

Fury's voice was firm.

"It represents an idea, a responsibility to protect the world."

Lin Feng shook his head, and the sound of him putting down his teacup was particularly clear in the quiet conference room.

“S.H.I.E.L.D. is dead, Fury. It’s not worth rebuilding.”

"what?"

Fury suddenly stood up and braced himself on the table.

"You don't understand the gravity of the situation. Without S.H.I.E.L.D., who will protect this world?"

Lin Feng maintained that infuriating calmness.

"The world has always been there, Fury. It will keep turning with or without S.H.I.E.L.D."

He paused for a moment, his eyes sharpening.

"And, to be honest, the existence of S.H.I.E.L.D. hasn't made the world any safer, has it?"

Fury's face was ashen.

Coulson coughed lightly, trying to ease the tension.

"Mr. Lin, perhaps we can discuss other possible ways of cooperation?"

Lin Feng nodded and gave Coulson an approving look.

"This is the pragmatic attitude."

He turned to Frey.

“I can offer you a suggestion: you can stay in Hell’s Kitchen for the time being. I can guarantee that no one will be able to find you here, and no one will dare to touch you.”

Hill's eyes lit up; the proposal far exceeded her expectations.

"You mean you're willing to offer us shelter?"

"Yes."

Lin Feng nodded.

“On my turf, I can make sure you won’t be wanted or harassed by the authorities.”
