Digital Hackers' Memories

"Cough cough..."
When WarGreymon opened his eyes again, he was no longer in the real world, but in the Digital World, which was parallel to the real world.
However, compared to the original Digital World that WarGreymon had seen, this Digital World, dominated by "Ytsubasa," was clearly much more powerful.
Vast and stable data circulates throughout the world, and WarGreymon, as an Ultimate-level being, can clearly sense the benefits this environment brings to itself.
It's important to know that, theoretically, once a Digimon evolves into its Ultimate form, it can survive in any complex data environment.
Even in a world like the X World, which is infected by a doomsday virus, Digimon of the Ultimate level and above can evolve into an extreme survival program like the "X-Antibody" by virtue of their amazing adaptability to data.
WarGreymon, who had studied Renamon X's data, knew that the "X-Antibody" was not an antibody specifically created to combat the X-Virus, but rather a manifestation of the Digimon's will to live.
The ability to survive the invasion of the "X virus" is merely one of the external manifestations of the "X antibody." Its essence remains a product of the "perfect body" being born to adapt to the malignant virus.
Putting aside other things, WarGreymon discovered through its research on Renamon X's data that Digimon that already possess the "X-Antibody" are almost immune to all malignant viruses that are less invasive than the "X-Virus".
WarGreymon even suspected that if Yggdrasil also obtained its corresponding "X-Antibody," it might be able to gain complete immunity to the Infiltrators by upgrading its own firewall.
In fact, after spending a whole night carefully thinking about and studying SwordGreymon's memories, WarGreymon felt that Yggdrasil's eagerness to take Renamon X away might not be simply to reboot its own functions.
While rebooting itself, it implants an X-antibody upgrade program called "Priest Beast X" into itself, thereby gaining the ability to be completely immune to the invaders. This is undoubtedly a very high possibility.
After realizing this, WarGreymon suddenly thought that it was too much of a coincidence that Renamon was able to obtain the X-Antibody right under SwordGreymon's nose.
Looking back now, Renamon was clearly a "culture dish" for cultivating X-antibodies, just waiting for the right opportunity to upgrade Yggdrasil's firewall program!
Even without the X-Antibody incident, I would never have made Renamon a 'backup' of Yggdrasil.
No one knows whether Renamon X will become the god of the new world after restarting Yggdrasil, or whether it will completely integrate into Yggdrasil's mainframe.
WarGreymon trusts the latter more than the former.
The so-called reboot is based on the original data stored in Renamon X's body, reshaping the World Tree that has been corrupted by the Invaders, and thus returning the world to its state eight years ago, before the Invaders appeared.
"However, this world is not quite what I imagined."
Slowly getting up from the ground, WarGreymon looked around at its surroundings and was surprised to find that the Digital World was surprisingly dilapidated.
Despite having top-tier Digital World features like thirteen Royal Knights, seven Sin Lords, and four dragons, this place falls short of even the original Digital World, which had yet to produce an Ultimate-level character.
In that top-tier information environment, capable of supporting a chaotic battle between multiple Ultimate-level beings, the entire Digital World appears riddled with holes, eroded by the Infiltrators.
The blue sky and white clouds in the sky were replaced by a black and white background, and the green trees and red flowers on the ground were covered by patches of mottled jumbled code.
Even the original earth and soil structure has been replaced by black and white wriggling tentacles, giving the impression of being in the world of some kind of evil god.
"It's really an uncomfortable feeling..."
With its eyes slightly narrowed, WarGreymon could feel its Digicore stirring within its body.
The "supernatural intuition" bestowed by constancy issued an unprecedented warning at this moment, a warning that even surpassed the warning issued when confronting the Apocalypse Beast, the embodiment of the concept of non-evolution.
WarGreymon had no doubt that it wouldn't be surprising if the world were to completely collapse in the next moment and become part of the endless Internet.
"So, that's why Priest Beast X has to come back here."
With a soft sigh, a feminine voice broke the deathly silence of the world and appeared before WarGreymon.
"Mosty Beast?"
Centered on the body's central axis, the body is divided into black and white tones, with the angel wings and demon bat wings on the back corresponding to these two distinctly different tones.
The one standing before WarGreymon at this moment was none other than Mostimon, known as the "Chaos Demon God," and the one truly hiding behind the scenes.
"Mikagura Mirei?"
He made a brief appearance in the "Hikari Hill Incident" and was the real culprit who sent Renamon and Chen Ze to another world.
As Mostimon slowly opened its arms, Mirei Mikagura, dressed in a black and white business suit, looked down at WarGreymon with an indifferent and calm expression.
"It seems that Priest Beast X did indeed mention me to you."
Mirei Mikagura is not a native of this world, but a "spacetime observer" who transcends countless parallel worlds.
Her duty is to intervene and maintain the balance of a parallel world when anomalies occur and the world is heading towards destruction.
Theoretically speaking, in any digital world or human world on the verge of destruction, there is a possibility of encountering a being named "Mirei Mikagura".
“Give up! Priest Beast X is the 'savior' chosen by the World Tree. You can't and shouldn't continue looking for her.”
Mirei Mikagura was once an ordinary girl, but during an experiment she became an existence between a human and a Digimon, and later went on to become a true "time-space observer".
Therefore, Mikagura Mirei can understand Chen Ze's feelings, but she cannot allow Chen Ze to prevent the Priest Beast X from returning to the World Tree.
"Just as the fox demon said, you're a charlatan!"
Completely ignoring Mirei's warning, WarGreymon simply grinned, revealing a sinister smile.
"If you want to stop me, show me your true abilities!"
Taking a deep breath, Mostimon realized that this might be the strongest enemy WarGreymon had ever encountered.
Even Dragon Emperor Examon might not be as powerful as Mirei Mikagura's Mostimon, but that doesn't stop WarGreymon from fighting against it.
"After all, I'm not the kind of guy who can be convinced by empty words!"
Chapter 1 World Tree 7D6
Is this the digital world?
When Takumi, Nokia, Arata Sanada, and Yuko Kamishiro officially crossed the portal of time and space and descended into the Digital World, what appeared before them was a completely chaotic and broken "Old World".
Visible signs of destruction were everywhere. The idyllic scene they remembered from eight years ago had been completely transformed into an apocalyptic landscape.
Will our world... become like this too?
Looking around in disbelief, Sanada Shin realized that this was a million times more distorted and cruel than the distorted space he remembered.
"Yes, this is the remnant of a world that has been completely devoured by the eroders."
Alphamon gazed sadly at the world it had been born into, and even Kyoko, who was inside it, was affected by this emotion and fell into an unusual silence.
"The World Tree... is almost at its breaking point."
Omegamon, gazing sadly at the writhing "ground," felt the Digital World's lament even more deeply than Alphamon.
As the first true Royal Knight, Omegamon, known as the "End Knight," is a rather special type even among the many Royal Knights.
Just like Alphamon, which is said to "only appear in times of crisis," Omegamon always insists on being on the front line of battle, making it arguably the Royal Knight who understands the Digital World best.
It is said that Omegamon even once went to another world alone to hunt down Mephismon, making him a model of hard work among the Royal Knights.
Therefore, when Omegamon said that Yggdrasil was about to collapse, Alphamon had no doubts whatsoever.
"How could that be? Didn't the Jade Rabbit bring 'He' back ahead of time?"
Since the battle between WarGreymon and Examon, Alphamon learned about Yggdrasil's backup plan from BanchoLeomon and Patamon.
Combined with what he had seen of Chen Ze in the cyber detective business, Alphamon had actually guessed WarGreymon's true identity and the reason for its rampage.
In Alphamon's memory, the crisis caused by the Invaders was largely resolved the moment Jade Rabbitmon brought Priestmon X back to the Digital World ahead of schedule.
All he and Omegamon had to do was lead Takumi and his group to help Yggdrasil eliminate the remaining invaders.
Of course, Alphamon does not deny that another purpose of his trip is to hope that Yggdrasil can help solve the problems that have happened to Takumi and to liberate the human spirits imprisoned by the Corruptors.
After all, the latter involves a war between the human world and the digital world, while the former is a strange change that occurred after the digitalization phenomenon.
If this continues, Takumi, who will never be able to return to his own body, will one day become a ghost forever adrift on the internet.
"An accident is an accident because it often doesn't go according to your wishes."
Unlike Alphamon, which had been secretly investigating, Omegamon never believed that Yggdrasil's "backup" would work, or rather, it didn't realize the true purpose of Priestmon X.
Even if we take a step back and assume that Priest Beast X could indeed significantly enhance the original functions of the World Tree through reset and upgrade, the unexpected factors involved are simply too numerous.
Priestmon X's own will, Akemi Suedo secretly infiltrating the Digital World, and finally, the white WarGreymon that had clearly gone berserk...
Especially that white WarGreymon with its astonishing fighting power; from the moment it pierced Examon, its name was enough to be remembered throughout the entire Digital World.
"I don't like these kinds of accidents."
Alphamon glanced lightly at the still-wriggling "layers," as if it had discovered something, and suddenly lifted its leg and walked towards a ruin not far away.
"Huh? What is that?"
The curious Nokia immediately noticed Alphamon's unusual behavior and quickly followed it to the object that resembled an "unidentified electronic device".
This is a pure white electronic product composed of polygonal rhombuses. Its smooth surface and crystal-like shape make it immediately apparent that it is not a naturally occurring product.
Unfortunately, this crystal, which is clearly man-made, is now scarred and riddled with holes.
"That's the security system for the digital world—Terminal 7D6."
Upon seeing the same battered crystal, Omegamon, who was following closely behind, first changed his expression, then quietly explained to Nokia.
"In a sense, you can also simply understand it as a 'clone' of the World Tree."
Upon hearing this, Sanada Shin, who had been pondering something, suddenly rolled his eyes and asked seriously.
"A clone? You mean the World Tree has its own will?"
In Sanada Shin's previous understanding, he had always thought that the World Tree was just a host that operated according to predetermined rules.
However, when Omegamon used the word "clone" to describe 7D6, Sanada Shinichi suddenly realized that he might have misunderstood something.
"The World Tree has always possessed its own will, but that will is at a very high level, so high that it is no longer on the same dimension as us."
Taking over the topic, Alphamon examined the abandoned Terminal 7D6 for reasons unknown, a thoughtful expression on its face.
"Generally speaking, the World Tree, which possesses all the information in the digital world, can predict the trajectory of the world's development and foresee its future."
"So the World Tree's decision is correct in 'most cases'..."
At this point, Alphamon paused slightly and emphasized the phrase "in most cases".
"Only on rare occasions will the World Tree develop bugs for some reason."
"And that's when we, the royal knights, will be responsible for correcting it."
Alphamon's understanding of its responsibilities was clearly different from Omegamon's, but Omegamon did not refute its statement.
"So, here's the problem."
After briefly summarizing the statements from Alphamon and Omegamon, Yuko Kamishiro, who had remained silent until now, raised the most critical question at this stage.
"Why is the World Tree's clone, which rarely makes mistakes, and the World World's security system terminal 7D6, here?"
"And it's here in a way that clearly indicates it's been in battle, even damaged?"
"This doesn't seem to fit the World Tree's almost 'omniscient and omnipotent' setting, does it?"
Chapter Two: The Void Arena
"This doesn't seem to fit the World Tree's almost 'omniscient and omnipotent' setting, does it?"
Upon hearing Yuko Kamishiro's words, Alphamon and Omegamon fell silent.
Just as Yuko Kamishiro said, the terminal 7D6 is, in a sense, the World Tree, a medium through which the high gods and mortals come into contact.
Even in today's shattered digital world, corrupted by invaders, the Terminal 7D6 is like a "divine incarnation".
Leaving aside the anomalous phenomena of its appearance in the digital world, the biggest question is simply how it was damaged in battle.
The security system of the digital world, the incarnation of a god walking on earth, the Terminal 7D6 possesses combat power that surpasses any Ultimate Digimon, even without loading any combat programs.
If it were those combat-specialized Terminal 7D6s, even ordinary members of the Royal Knights might not be able to defeat them.
However, this "divine incarnation," which surpasses ordinary Ultimate-level beings in both status and combat prowess, has now been mysteriously destroyed in this shattered Digital World.
"This is definitely not normal."
After a moment of silence, it was Alphamon who spoke first.
As one of the prototype Digimon and a direct creation of Yggdrasil, Alphamon has a far deeper understanding of Yggdrasil than the other Royal Knights.
Although the terminal 7D6 is merely an incarnation of the World Tree, its essence symbolizes the status of the "World Tree".
Therefore, even if Terminal 7D6 is damaged in battle, World Tree will retrieve it immediately to prevent anyone from taking advantage of its "god" status to cause trouble.
In fact, it's not impossible.
Back then, Barbamon, one of the Seven Demon Lords, once used a "branch" abandoned by Yggdrasil to trigger a crisis that threatened the entire Digital World.
Since then, members of the Royal Knights and the World Tree itself have strictly enforced the rule of "recycling the World Tree's relics".
Any World Tree remnants that could potentially trigger a digital crisis will be subject to the strictest and most comprehensive monitoring and preservation by members of the Royal Knights.
