Chapter 796 Quesatushta Bombards the Sea
Today is the most tiring day Ernst has had since he started his journey.
The platform that was painstakingly built is about to be torn down, and the consensus that was painstakingly established is worthless to them. The only thing that can deter Agor is the Paradise Pivot, which is a weapon made for the Lumberjacks. Whether it has secondary cannons or not, no one knows.
This is not a challenge that one person or one country can handle.4 The difficulty of uniting the nations of the land may even be greater than getting Agor to voluntarily withdraw.
After closing the door to his room, Ernst turned on the desk lamp, sat down at his desk, and took out some of the manuscripts of "The Chronicles of Erzley" that had been reviewed and sent along with the music concert. He began to review them for the second time while thinking about them.
The room was quiet, but it was anything but peaceful. The oppressive atmosphere was like a volcano about to erupt, with scalding lava constantly testing Ernst's limits of endurance.
Normally, he would relieve stress by punching a pillow or doing something similar at this time, but today, he gave up on that.
It's pointless. Instead of wasting that time, we should focus our energy on coming up with solutions.
Besides the Heavenly Pivot, Terra may have other weapons that could serve as a strategic deterrent against Agor.
If we have no choice but to use the [Heavenly Pivot], how do we persuade Laterano?
He was indeed a "saint" and did have the recording and the necessary authority. Theoretically, if he insisted on making the "Heavenly Pivot" public, neither Ivangelist XI nor anyone else had the power to stop him.
But that meant the exposure of Laterano's greatest secret, the change in the nature of the Sarkaz race, and the instant bankruptcy of Laterano's centuries-old reputation.
Of course, the same applies to Ernst's side. With such a weapon, the saying "a common man is innocent, but possessing a treasure is a crime" applies. Lateran cannot abandon the law, otherwise the future will instantly spiral out of control.
Is it worth exchanging one future that is out of our control for another that is out of our control?
Ernst rubbed his temples, closed his eyes, and waited for his dry eyes to feel a little better. But the instant he closed his eyes, a gentle voice suddenly reached his ears:
"You look very tired. 200435! 6 Search QUn: Treasure."
Ernst's hair stood on end instantly, and he sprang to his feet, scanning the room before finally spotting the elusive figure by the window.
Precys appeared to be nothing more than a harmless phantom. Her appearance was exactly the same as when Ernst had seen her during the "debate": long, flowing black hair adorned with a glossy headband, and pale purple eyes as beautiful and lively as violets. A faint smile always graced her face. The combination of a turtleneck sweater and a researcher's white lab coat gave her a scholarly air, while the short skirt and black stockings made her resemble a sophisticated urban woman.
If we only consider our first impressions, then Precys does not seem like the legendary "creator who created everything" or "cold and ruthless priestess," but rather like a gentle, kind, well-educated, and harmless lady from a respectable family.
But no one who knows her identity can look down on her.
Her gaze met Ernst's. She pushed herself up from the edge of the bed, her smile revealing undisguised concern and worry.
"Did my sudden visit startle you?"
"I'm sorry, I just wanted to see you more."
Ernst swallowed hard, wanting to say something, but for a moment he didn't know how to start.
Precys was someone who never played the political card, or rather, every pre-civilized human he had ever met would never talk to Ernst about politics.
They only ever talk about feelings.
You can't hit someone who's smiling. There wasn't actually any direct conflict between Ernst and Precyth. All the grudges from their past lives, whether he did it willingly or was forced into it, led him to make that choice in the end, sacrificing himself for a sliver of hope.
Precys did indeed respond to Ernst's efforts; she did not fail, and the Originium—[Artificial Amber]—was indeed a success. She had done nothing to wrong Ernst.
As for this life, that one meeting meant nothing. Precyth only made the request for the "soul," without forcing it. In a way, she was like Agor—she had the ability to do it. Even if Ernst disagreed, she could lock him up in a secluded place where no one could find him and slowly demand it.
After all, Ernst lived in a society filled with Originium. As the creator of Originium, Precyth could be even more carefree than the Agorians. She could completely disregard what the Terran nations would think of Ernst's disappearance; in her eyes, these were just experimental data.
If you grow a couple more Originium stones on your body, you'll behave yourself.
And she didn't.
Ernst did have some reservations, but they weren't as deep as fire and water.
After a moment of silence, Ernst sighed softly, sat back down at his desk, and asked Priscilla with his back to him:
"Why are you contacting me all of a sudden? Is there something you need?"
He did not expel Priscilla, but he also did not believe that Priscilla had really come just to "see him".
Precys ignored Ernst's somewhat harsh tone, stepped forward, and said softly:
"I'll help you."
“The little fish in the sea are so rude. They pick up what Luo left behind, call themselves our children, but show no respect for their father at all.”
The eldest son of what ancient civilization?
In truth, the Terra civilization was shaped by the information released from the original Originium. And the original Originium was modeled after Ernst. In other words, Ernst is their father.
Taking advantage of his father's old age and frailty, he dares to act arrogantly; this is a bit too "filial".
Those seafood dishes were absolutely mind-blowing!
Not only was Priscilla unable to stand it, but even the Preservator was somewhat angry. If his true form weren't so much free as Priscilla's, Trevor Friston would be standing here right now.
Even so, the Preservator, unable to bear it any longer, found Preses in Iberia.
"Treasure," protect "Ernst," this is the agreement reached between the Preservator and Precys.
Precys agreed.
Upon hearing Precys's words, Ernst subconsciously frowned and turned his head to try to stop him:
"They are actually still within the rules."
But Precious shook his head.
"Their civilization depended on us for its growth, and from that moment on, there were no rules. Besides, why bother with so many rules when it comes to treasure? Rules are made by people."
"I've told you our story before. Our civilization is spread across the stars. If we wanted, plucking stars from the sky and scooping up the moon would be a piece of cake. If we wanted, we could locate and retrieve even a speck of dust in the universe. That wasn't achieved through peaceful negotiations. Back then, we defined what 'rules' meant with our hands, our technology, and our force."
She paused slightly, a playful smile on her face, and winked her right eye at Ernst, as if she had found a loophole in the school rules and could skip class, and chuckled:
"And besides, Treasure, you're within the rules, but I'm not."
"They're just taking advantage of the fact that you have no friends. They're using the weight of a civilization to pressure you, and because you're kind-hearted, you can't bring yourself to say anything harsh. This is inextricably linked to your origins, the peaceful civilization you live in, and your past experiences. You've never resorted to violence when things got extreme. That's why you've always had a bad relationship with Ed."
"He just liked to shout about using the 'Heavenly Pivot' to destroy the lumberjacks."
Nine Precyth laughed heartily, then casually remarked as if it were a trivial matter:
"But I can tell them that your civilization is worthless."
Ernst gasped.
In a very light and cheerful tone, Shi said something truly remarkable.
“Treasure, you are our best friend. Don’t panic, we’ve got your back. Be bold and reassured.”
"As for those small fish, they will pay the price soon."
3. Victoria, Londinim, below The Shard.
A thick layer of dark clouds always shrouded the top of the Shard, which had been completed in Ling, with scarlet lightning occasionally streaking through the clouds. The ominous aura was enough to make any living creature on this land feel a deep-seated fear.
That's the aura of a natural disaster!
Throughout history, natural disasters have been an eternal terror hanging over the land of Terra. From Victoria to Ursus, no country has ever escaped natural disasters, and no land has ever been spared their ravages.
Sherag was no exception. In ancient times, even before the birth of Jeragand, world-destroying lightning also struck that land, and black crystals rose and grew there as well.
Because this terror is indiscriminate, the Terran civilization ultimately named it the "Cataclysm." It is a calamity sent down by the heavens, the wrath of the creator, and a "judgment" that cannot be manipulated by mortals and will destroy them!
"But today, this stereotype will be broken."
Standing beneath the Shard, Therese whispered to her sister beside her.
The prophecy that "when natural disasters sweep across the land, demon kings rise to power" is widely circulated among the Sarkaz. But now, even without demon kings, the Sarkaz still wield the power of natural disasters.
The lightning atop Shard will clear Sarkaz of his enemies.
"Therese said the Shard still needs a test launch to verify its usability."
Theresa reminded her.
Therese nodded.
There's nothing wrong with this approach. The newly repaired superweapon does indeed need a test to prove its controllability and demonstrate its power to the land.
"Then let's fire a shot at Victoria's army."
he replied.
But Quesatushta, who was walking over from the side, shook his head:
"Your Highness, this will not do."
"If there is some unknown problem with The Shard, then using it against the Victorian army will put them on their guard. If the Shard fails to activate then, it will be difficult for us to catch them off guard next time."
Therese frowned slightly and glanced at Quesatushta.
What he said made no problem, but Theresis always felt that Quesatushta had ulterior motives. 6)
So he asked, "Where do you think we should use as the testing ground?"
Quesatushta smiled slightly, a diamond shape flashing in his pale golden eyes.
"This place must be far enough away from the Allied forces that the nations of the land cannot observe it immediately, and it must be guaranteed that even if the Shard goes out of control, it will not affect our plans in any way."
"There are really not many places to choose from. Even the mines of Rembiton are being watched by greedy Carter merchants all the time. The yellow sands of Sargon and the ice fields of Sami are also being watched by countless eyes."
"This is really difficult."
Therese frowned: "Stop keeping me in suspense, just tell me."
Quesatushta chuckled, ending his earnest contemplation, and held up one finger:
"ocean."
Chapter 797: Painting with Stars, Warning with Stars
Today is a peaceful day for the Agor people.
The sea was calm and peaceful, and the sea monsters were unusually refrain from causing any disturbances. Communication between the underwater cities was smooth, and the mainland remained safe and secure.
Agor's surveillance equipment observes the entire land, which is almost completely obscured before them. Because of this, they can obtain countless pieces of intelligence that should be classified, and then put this intelligence on the negotiating table to exert greater pressure in exchange for greater rewards.
They firmly believed that the land was powerless against them.
Agor possesses an overwhelming advantage in strength. Having inherited a vast amount of legacy from their ancient civilization, they have no fear of the land dwellers overturning the table. The highest rulers of this realm have already reached a consensus: to put it bluntly, as long as they set up their cannons on the coastline, the land dwellers will have no choice but to return to the negotiating table and make concessions to them time and time again.
Regarding this cooperation between the sea and the land, their most desired negotiation outcome is quite simple; they have even prepared a joint statement:
[Agor declares to all land-based civilizations: We invite all humanity to set aside prejudice and hatred and join Agor in building a defensive line.]
The crisis facing the sea is urgent; the nascent threat is about to cross the sea, and essential information and calculations will reach the land.
The challenges we face far outweigh those of each other or natural disasters; we must form a community.
Under Agor's leadership, we will surely overcome this challenge together.
A very arrogant statement.
Agor made a declaration, Agor sent a message, Agor invited them to form a community, and finally, Agor took the lead.
The name "Community" refers to the international organization that Agor planned to establish outside of the World Summit.
From this perspective, Clementa did not lie to Ernst. Her final words to Ernst did transcend her identity as an Agorian and offer him a piece of advice.
Agor has long intended to completely seize the discourse power, and there is only one reason why they have not done so yet, and why the "community" has not been formally established.
Some of them respected Ernst's existence.
These people were none other than Clementa herself and Heratia.
But Clementa was not the supreme ruler of this realm, and Heratia could not refute all the rulers on her own. All they could do was try to persuade Ernst to make the acceptance of Agor at the World Summit a certainty and dispel Agor's idea of starting his own independent organization.
But frankly, it's pointless. It serves no purpose other than giving Ernst and Scherrag a semblance of being "initiators" and granting them some "follower privileges."
If a one-man show continues, the World Summit will be effectively defunct.
Clementa's mediation had very limited effect. As the governor of Agor and the plenipotentiary ambassador for maritime and land-sea exchanges, she now hated the position and the power she wielded more than ever before.
Because everything she did also contradicted Agor's own creed.
In the past, she had always believed that Agor's superiority over land civilizations lay not only in its "weapons," "technology," and "social systems," but also in its "humanistic consciousness."
Agor feels guilty for transforming his fellow humans into deep-sea hunters, is conflicted about having to sacrifice some people to fight against the Sealings, and shows the utmost "human care" for every individual.
But what is Agor doing now? He is putting endless pressure on an ordinary person. Ernst is not a god. Does Agor think that humans on land are not human?
She felt torn, especially after each conversation with Ernst, seeing his exhausted appearance caused Clementine a pang of pain.
She was too humane, while she thought Agor, who was also humane, was a bit too inhuman.
