He only knows how to use it; if you asked him to create an Originium, he probably wouldn't know where to begin.
Knowing how to use electricity doesn't necessarily mean you can discharge it, and knowing how to drive doesn't guarantee you can build a car. The post-apocalyptic technology of pre-civilizations, perhaps for well-known reasons, significantly lowered the learning curve, even allowing it to be used directly as fuel. However, its technological sophistication is undeniable.
Similarly, the technological creations of Agor, which draw on the technology of ancient civilizations and combine it with the Agor people's own ideas, are like a bunch of new things programmed on top of a very powerful code that serves as the underlying logic. Although they are inherently a level lower than ancient civilizations in terms of status and technological content, in some ways, the complexity of their analysis is actually increased.
Are you interested?
Ernst asked.
Levy nodded seriously:
"Can I go up and take a look?"
He rarely made any requests to Ernst, but he really wanted to try and see if Ernst could come up with a solution.
The allure of science and technology is immense for scientists, especially for someone like Levy. Nothing is more appealing to him than the chance to witness firsthand the amazing technologies he only ever saw in science fiction novels.
As you hear the news, you can die in the evening.
Ernst paused for a moment. He had indeed not reached any verbal agreement with Clementa beforehand regarding this matter.
But since Levy said so, Ernst has always been devoted to his own people.
"I'll try to think of a solution."
Having made a promise, Ernst went to greet the slowly opening warship gates.
The delegation that officially visited Agor was actually not very large.
The group consists of Clementa, the governor of Miliarum and the authorized plenipotentiary ambassador of Agor; Sikunda, the captain of the coast guard responsible for Clementa's security and also in charge of security technology exchanges with terrestrial civilizations; and Brandus, an Agorian biologist.
Brandos was a new addition. He wasn't originally on the visitor list, but after Clementa relayed the information, Ernst quickly agreed to let the scientist accompany them.
The reason is simple—Brandos is the technical advisor for the Deepsea Hunter program and the person in charge of the Deepsea Hunter modification surgery.
Ernst now has four deep-sea hunters by his side. Apart from Ulpian, who for some reason refuses to show himself, the other three—Skadi, Laurentina, and Gretia—all need the advisor's help.
Their condition is not good.
Aside from the fact that they haven't had any physical checkups or maintenance for years, Skadi appears to have contracted a newborn infection, Laurentina's brain has been injected with a high concentration of Originium concentrate and she's connected to Prismes, and Grandia claims to be in a state of severe "dehydration." Each of them has their own troubles.
Ernst tried to contact doctors on land, but at least the doctors in Iberia couldn't solve the problems. Not only were they helpless, but some of them also harbored ill will towards Skadi and her companions.
After all, they are all Agorians.
Carmen could forcefully reverse the general trend, but he was not Yuri. Generations of hatred had instilled the seeds of hostility towards Agor in the hearts of Iberians, and such thoughts were not so easy to eradicate.
Now that Brandos, a professional, has taken over, the problem may not be completely solved, but it should be alleviated to some extent.
This is good for the hunters.
Moreover, Ernst felt that he and Levy might have something to talk about.
After all, someone who single-handedly created "sea superheroes" like Deepsea Hunter and Ocean Rangers must be quite capable. Both are biologists, so who knows, they might have some interesting conversations?
Of course, Ernst was unfamiliar with this field; he had only made a guess and acted as a go-between. As for whether the two of them could spark any ideas, Ernst couldn't say for sure.
Ernst was talking to Clementa ahead. In front of the public and cameras, the two acted unusually familiar, like old friends who had known each other for decades, exchanging meaningless compliments. They even brought along the deep-sea hunters, who had somehow been appointed as "ambassadors for sea-land exchange" by both sides, and chatted about everything under the sun, making it look quite lively.
Those things that are truly valuable all require negotiation, and negotiation inevitably involves bargaining and using both soft and hard tactics. For the sake of maintaining a friendly image, no one would do such a thing in public.
Those who could attend this invitational event were all shrewd and intelligent people, so not many paid much attention to this detail. Everything seemed to be proceeding smoothly.
Only Goredia suddenly snapped out of her daze and looked around with some curiosity:
Where did the shark go?
Outside the crowd, Laurentina was sitting on a rock.
All eyes were on the welcoming ceremony, and few noticed that an Agorian was sitting in this inconspicuous corner.
Even if people notice, they rarely bother to provoke this trouble—Carmen has now banned the persecution of the Agors, so they can't be beaten or scolded. There's even a welcoming ceremony for the Agors being held nearby. Why would anyone bother these Agors who are just sitting and enjoying the scenery?
Laurentina didn't seem to care.
She was waiting for someone.
To be precise, she was waiting for an old friend.
The sea breeze ruffled her hair, and the radiance of Miriam was still dazzling in the daylight, but Laurentina's eyes remained dark and deep, as if reflecting a sea of stars.
The mysterious, tranquil, and seemingly naturally beautiful rhombus shape flickered in and out of focus, and at one moment it trembled, causing Laurentina to raise her head and a smile to appear on her face.
She looked up at the sky not far away.
A small drone hovers on the sea surface, in the shadow of Mirialium.
Its design is nothing special, except for the Columbia logo on it. With its thick outer shell, which is clearly made of power armor, it is not hard to guess that this should be a military drone from the "Preserver".
However, the Preservator is currently on the distant sea, serving as a backdrop for the welcoming ceremony alongside the Stutifaira. Why would it send a drone over?
Seemingly aware of this, Laurentina called out softly without any hesitation:
"Friston?"
The drone's camera flashed red and replied:
"Precyth, it's been a long time."
"I never expected to see you again."
"Lauren Tina" said.
"The [Preserver] Project failed, didn't it?"
As if touched on a sore spot, the drone didn't answer, but instead directly avoided the sensitive topic, and instead said,
“Prismus, I’m here to get an explanation.”
"What explanation?" Laurentina tilted her head in confusion.
"You hacked into my debate back then." The drone gave her no chance to play dumb, going straight to the point. "That's against the rules, Precys. You and I both know the sanctity of debate, not to mention, it was a debate I personally conducted!"
"Do you want the prophet to know about this?"
This time, it was Laurentina who remained silent.
However, compared to the drone's camera, which is inherently unable to express emotions, "Lauren Tina's" face clearly showed a hint of embarrassment and dejection.
"Prophet"
She choked up and didn't continue.
"Speak, what do you want?"
The drone seemed to realize something and asked again:
"What's wrong with the prophet?"
"You don't want to know the answer. I don't want to bring it up again."
Laurentina's voice turned colder, and the drone's sound paused.
This drone is also a creation of Originium Technologies, and theoretically, Precyth has the ability to destroy it directly.
But even if Precys says nothing, that's already an answer.
What happened to the prophet?
Friston was puzzled, but he didn't bring up the matter again to provoke Precys. Instead, he said:
"Two things."
"First, protect the treasure."
"You don't need to tell me that." Laurentina snorted coldly.
The drone didn't stop, it continued:
"Second, protect Ernst."
This time, "Lauren Tina" paused, looked deeply at the drone, and then nodded:
"You don't need to tell me that."
“However, Friston, you’ve changed a lot. What has influenced you?”
"By Terrans".
Low-frequency audio from drones.
"That's all for now. Hopefully, there will be a chance, and we can meet again in a better light."
"It will happen. You can come from Shili."
Laurentina extended a sincere invitation.
But the drone had fallen silent; the red light went out, and it crashed into the ocean.
Chapter 771 Ernst used the skill "Call My Father," and Clementine was terrified.
Nine Iberia, Granfalo, the International Summit Anti-Terrorism Base, the Meeting Room.
Siquinda helped close the door from the outside, leaving only Ernst and Clementa in the room.
Clementine sat on the sofa, a meaningful smile appearing on her serene and elegant face, and said softly:
“The deep-sea hunters have Brandos’ help with physical examinations and adjustments.”
"The West Kunda Association is responsible for exchanging data with personnel on land."
“Mr. Ernst, there is no one else here now.”
"Let's have an open and honest talk."
Sienster smiled and nodded, but the smile seemed a little forced.
What do you mean by that? What are you trying to do? What do you mean there's no one else here?
We can have an open and honest talk, but you have to be careful. I, Ernst, am someone who responds better to gentle persuasion than force. If you try to coerce or bribe me, I will absolutely not comply!
“Ms. Clementa, please feel free to speak your mind. We can talk about anything.”
Ahem, it's not that I'm cowardly, it's just basic politeness.
Clementine glanced at Ernst's reaction with interest, then lifted her leg and crossed it in front of Ernst.
Hmm, a feint.
This woman knows what she's worried about; she's clearly doing this on purpose!
However, she was simply underestimating Ernst.
Ernst had long since become desensitized to this method. Why? Because he had a wonderful secretary who provided him with daily desensitization training.
Compared to Khorhaiya, Clementa was inferior in every way, except for Haiboping. Aside from being an Agorian, which gave her a slightly higher status, she had no advantages whatsoever.
Her actions calmed Ernst down, and he watched her "crazy behavior" with a cold eye.
After staring at Ernst, the top land-based fighter, for ten seconds, Clementine's smile gradually turned awkward. She coughed lightly, crossed her arms, and broke the almost counterproductive silence:
"Mr. Ernst, I wonder how much you know about the ocean?"
"Is it the ocean, or Argonaut?" Ernst scoffed dismissively and asked in return.
Clementine clenched her fists as she crossed her arms.
Be rational, be rational. He absolutely is not looking down on you, and he absolutely is not looking down on you in that way.
She took a deep breath and replied: [Unintelligible characters]
"Of course it's the ocean. Agor is also part of the ocean, and Agor's desire to cooperate with the land is not due to any reason on his part."
"Frankly speaking, if it were just Agor himself, we would have no interest in the land. The reason Agor wants to communicate with the land is to better protect all mankind, including our fellow human beings on land, from the threats in the deep ocean."
A show of force, and the standard "I'm doing this for your own good" negotiation rhetoric.
The passage begins by subtly pointing out Agor's advanced and powerful nature through the statement that Agor has no interest in the land. It also implicitly places Agor in a position superior to the land, suggesting that Agor's interest in the land is of a higher order rather than an equal exchange.
Then, by using the rhetoric of "I'm doing this for your own good," they weakened the threat posed by the Sealings to Agor and amplified the threat posed by the Sealings to the Land, placing themselves on the moral high ground. Combined with the previously established image of Agor, this made the Land feel inferior.
After all, we all know what kind of person usually says, "I'm doing this for your own good."
If Ernst hadn't known about Haisi, the best strategy he could have used in the face of such rhetoric would probably have been to "go with the flow."
In other words, one should not give a specific response or comment on the implied meaning of the words, but rather play dumb and let Clementsa continue speaking, making a decision only after obtaining more information.
But coincidentally, Ernst doesn't need to play that game anymore.
