And that expert was Vina!

This woman, who had always been taciturn, was actually the most terrifying one. With just a small suggestion, she instantly suppressed the rising star, Lola. Hinterlea could imagine that once Lola became the head of the engineering department, away from Ernst's office and with her busy daily work, she would never have the opportunity to appear so frequently in front of Ernst as she did now.

At that time, what ability will a civil engineering senior, who carries a red bucket and braves wind and snow, have to join this competition?

Without lifting a finger or causing any resentment, she rightfully eliminated a competitor's threat. Vina is a woman with a meticulous and terrifying mind!

Hinterlea gasped, realizing that office politics was indeed a miniature version of court politics. A political novice like herself, with nothing to her name, could be utterly destroyed if she wasn't careful!

But where did Vina learn such amazing skills?

This lady must be someone important!

Did Victoria have any nobles with the surname Victoria?

Hinterlaya didn't recall much and decided to check again using the intercity network after arriving in Colombia.

Now, she is more concerned about another issue.

“Boss Ernst, what about me?” Hinterlea asked expectantly. “What’s my position? I’m good with a bow, so will I be a bodyguard?”

She pictured herself in a smart women's suit, her hair in a ponytail, wearing cool black sunglasses, opening the car door for Ernst, and then standing guard with her hands on her hips.

But Ernst shook his head.

After this trip, she wouldn't be leaving Kjerag for a while, and with the protection of the great god Yeragand in Kjerag, Ernst didn't need to worry about his safety at all.

Who dares to touch the son chosen by Mother Jeragand (the Holy Son of Kalan)? Is it like an old man hanging himself—tired of living and wanting to experience the horrors and tortures of a religious society?

Seeing Ernst shake his head, Hinterlea asked somewhat nervously, "Then what should I do?"

"Hinterlea, don't you think you're very beautiful?"

Ernst straight lane. Hinterlea blushed slightly, turned her head slightly, and said somewhat shyly and modestly, "Actually, not really. I feel that Miss Vina and Miss Lola are about the same as me."

"It's okay, they have jobs."

Ernst laughed,

“Our Sherag government also needs a dedicated receptionist to receive members of the public who come to inquire about problems and potential investors. I think this job would be perfect for a young and beautiful lady like you!”

Hintelia blushed slightly at the compliment and nodded shyly, "I will completely obey all of the boss's arrangements."

After she finished speaking, she suddenly realized that something was wrong.

Dedicated reception staff? For receiving the public and investors?

Suddenly, the conspicuous information desks in the lobbies of banks and companies flashed through her mind. In an instant, she gradually understood everything.

That sounds so nice, but she's just a receptionist!

Chapter Thirty-Five: They still have to be college students!

Colombia is the most unique country in Terra.

There are no kings, no emperors, not even nobles or landowners; there is only capital and oligarchs developing to their extremes, and science that expands infinitely but is firmly restricted and guided towards an unknowable purpose by some external force.

This made Colombia a true rebel against Terra, and their former overlord, Victoria, once described the country as: "Our ugly, rebellious son."

Incidentally, just as there are rebellious sons, there are also filial sons. In Victoria's eyes, Columbia is a rebellious son, while Tara is a filial son.

Back in the Battle of the Four Emperors, King Frederick III of Victoria once proclaimed, "Victoria will never surrender until the last drop of blood of the Tara people is shed!"

As it turns out, Tara, as Victoria's recruitment ground at that time, indeed shed the blood of a whole generation for Victoria's later victory over Gaul and the establishment of her core hegemony.

However, under Victoria's tyrannical rule, Tara not only failed to receive compensation for her enormous contributions and losses after the Four Emperors War, but was instead subjected to even more severe oppression and exploitation by the Victorian nobles, who believed in the principle of "use her to the death if she's useful."

This dutiful son, who never retaliated in Victoria's eyes, now looked at Colombia with envy. With the king hanged and the country undergoing dramatic changes, he began to make elaborate preparations to give Victoria, who was known for her lack of humanity, a huge reward!

Of course, these are all Victoria's domestic affairs. For Colombia today, under the wise, powerful, healthy and long-lived President Kaká, they have already broadened their horizons and abandoned the plan to simply compete with Victoria in the inner circle. They have started a vigorous pioneering movement, determined to become a new pole of Terra, independent of the old world of the inner circle, under the guidance of Manifest Destiny!

The inspiring rhetoric alone is what motivates generations of researchers and businesspeople to come to Colombia.

Well, they're just scientists and businessmen.

Don't get me wrong, Colombia also welcomes immigrants who lack specific skills but are still interested in the country and its mission. However, for ordinary people, whether you come here to ignite a flame of your own dreams or become fuel for someone else's dreams depends entirely on your luck and the conscience of the immigration company.

Magnus Bank has a business of "adding fuel to the fire of others' dreams".

As a bank director and the first Colombian businessman to make contact with the official authorities in Sheraq, Luther Magnus took it upon himself to handle all the arrangements for Ernst Siwaeche and his party after their arrival in Colombia.

This is a very worthwhile thing for him.

Kjerag, a pristine land with a unique geographical environment and a miraculous ecosystem that has never been ravaged by natural disasters, can be described as an excellent cradle for building resorts, retirement homes, and developing various tertiary industries!

As the first person to make contact with Ernst, Luther undoubtedly possessed a significant first-mover advantage. He predicted that as long as Ernst Siwaësh's government maintained its rule over Sherragúa, Sherragúa would usher in a golden age of development for at least the next fifty years! And as a Colombian financial investment company, Magnus Bank would seize this new opportunity and rise to a new level!

In order to delay other Colombian companies from sniffing out this huge business opportunity—which, in fact, was almost impossible to stop—he was very willing to maintain a close working relationship with Ernst.

Coming to Colombia? Come on over! I'll arrange for a private car to pick you up, with security and a guide provided!

Need a venue for recruitment? No problem! Magnus Bank's businesses span the entire Colombian peninsula, from the political center of District of Columbia to the scientific heart of Trimont, from Florida, which doesn't tolerate idlers, to the dilapidated old industrial base of the Great Lakes. Whether it's highbrow or lowbrow, as long as Ernst needs it, there's no place he can't spare for an office!

What? You're unfamiliar with the area and can't get your job postings going?

"Wait a minute? I clearly remember that Sherag's job postings were everywhere just two days ago?"

Luther shook the ashes off his imported Bolivar cigar, looking utterly bewildered.

The secretary standing beside him pursed her lips, hesitating as if she wanted to speak, then, after gathering her thoughts, she said in a less direct and tactful way:

"The charity you sponsored a couple of days ago organized a volunteer activity, and the volunteers' work was very successful."

"What do you mean?" Luther was taken aback.

The secretary smiled awkwardly, opened the tablet in her arms, searched for the charity's page, and handed it to Luther.

Luther took the tablet with suspicion and saw a line of eye-catching words.

"The Magnus Charitable Foundation recently organized a street cleanup, which was a great success. Residents cheered: the ridiculous and outrageous fraudulent advertisements that suddenly appeared, like a stubborn skin disease, have finally been swept away!"

The accompanying image is a crumpled job posting.

[Sherragh Government Civil Service Positions Available!]

Luther pursed his lips, put down the tablet, and awkwardly put his hand to his mouth, using a cough to cover up his inner turmoil.

"As you can see, their ads are indeed not getting placed."

The secretary adjusted her glasses, unsure how to describe it, and simply stated the truth.

"If the state government hadn't refrained from intervening out of consideration for you, the advertising company that distributed and posted these flyers would have suffered far more than just a financial loss."

Luther finally couldn't help but cover his mouth, forcibly suppressing his laughter for a while.

Well, how should I put it.

In Colombia, the government and capital mostly work together. Only in very rare cases—almost always when there is an irreconcilable conflict of interest (unequal distribution of spoils) or when the impact of public opinion is too severe (the mess hasn't been cleaned up)—will the government impose penalties such as fines or seizures on companies.

The fact that the advertising company posted a job ad for Sherag could not possibly affect the Colombian government's recruitment of civil servants. So the fact that the government fined them can only mean one thing—those graffiti-like advertisements are indeed deeply hated!

Ernst found this very strange. He had done the same thing in Victoria and Casimir, so why hadn't this happened elsewhere?

But then he thought about it again and understood.

It's not that Victoria and Kazimierz didn't have problems, it's just that the problems weren't as severe.

Just look at the two young ladies I recruited. One was a supposedly aristocratic young lady who had fallen on hard times and was hiding her identity, whom I tricked and lured into joining. The other was someone who was being hunted by the Wuzha Alliance and had nowhere to go, whom I happened to rescue and recruit. Not a single one of them was properly recruited!

While there's no intention to discriminate against Vina and Cintraya, in a way, it's quite remarkable that Sherag's bizarre ad was able to attract such a hardcore and ruthless person. It's like meeting a worthy opponent and a talented individual – a real gem, a stroke of luck!

Therefore, Ernst made this request to Luther out of necessity in order to properly recruit some qualified, or at least legitimate, talent.

To put it in simpler terms, Ernst doesn't want to waste his lifespan gambling on getting an SSR anymore; he wants to reliably get the guaranteed SSR.

"Hey, I've never heard of such a thing."

Having barely managed to suppress a laugh, Luther shook his head and gave the order.

"Okay, go and send out commissions to a few headhunting firms on behalf of Magnus Bank and the Shelag government. Also, prepare for a small-scale job fair."

"As for the location... let's choose Trimont."

The secretary nodded: "Is it because there are many highly skilled people there?"

Luther shook his head: "Of course not."

He smiled and said, "It's because there are many universities there."

After saying that, he and his secretary exchanged a knowing smile and said in unison, "They still have to be college students!"

P.S.: Happy Mid-Autumn Festival everyone!

I'm going home today, so there will be fewer updates. Updates will resume tomorrow.

Chapter Thirty-Six: Bringing Talent to Sherag

Tremont, Columbia.

A city of science and a capital of innovation, it is also known as the "Academy City" because it has the most higher education institutions and research enterprises in all of Colombia and even in all of Terra.

Unfortunately, there is no level division in this Academy City, and there is no Railgun lady from the East that can catch Chen Rui's eye.

Here, you'll find an abundance of university graduates whose growth rate rivals, or even surpasses, that of leeks.

Joyce Moore is one of this year's graduates.

Typically, as a senior talent in the IT data industry, Joyce's career path usually presents two choices.

First, one could be down-to-earth, join a small tech company, hone their skills as a programmer for three to five years, and then, riddled with neck, shoulder, back, and leg ailments, be unscrupulous capitalists find a pretext to send them out into the workforce. They would then watch helplessly as their positions are taken over by a new generation of "ripe leeks" (victims of exploitation).

Secondly, harboring dreams, one could strive for a place in one of the few well-known large companies in Tremont, fighting in a fiercely competitive arena comparable to the imperial examinations of the Great Yan Dynasty, and becoming a proud employee of a major company. After working peacefully for a few years, one could start planning projects led by oneself, bearing the marks of injuries, and decide whether one's life would reach its peak or plummet to its lowest point.

Anyone with eyes can probably tell which one to choose, right?

That's the right way to think! As soon as college students start studying, large companies can make a real profit. On the contrary, if they don't think this way, large companies won't be able to easily lower prices!

It's not that no one saw through this scheme, but no one could do anything about it. This is the reality of society, and the status quo won't change just because one person wakes up. While you and your bunkmate are saying you won't get involved and you'll all go to small companies to coast along, your bunkmate might be secretly laughing.

You idiot, if you don't participate, plenty of others will. I'll just take your spot!

He might even treat you to a nice meal, showcasing the pure yet cheap morality of a college student whose heart is still unpolluted by society.

Joyce was no exception, and when she graduated, she received an unusually large number of invitations from her classmates. Almost every graduating student in the entire computer science department sent Joyce an invitation.

This wasn't because Joyce and every classmate were her best buddies, sharing a bunk bed.

Instead, it was because Joyce, who was among the top students in her grade, fell ill.

The most incurable and terrifying disease is Ore-borne disease.

There is no cure; the only treatment is to slow the spread of the lesions using modern medical methods. It is highly contagious; if the bodies of ore-infested patients are not disposed of promptly after death, they can explode, turning the surrounding area into a highly contaminated zone. The onset of the disease is extremely painful and accompanied by a variety of unpredictable complications—such as those experienced by Joyce Moore.

This illness nearly rendered Joyce uncompetitive in the job market.

In addition to the usual symptoms of Oripathy such as drowsiness, intermittent lethargy, and fever, the disease severely damaged her brainstem, resulting in Joyce Moore occasionally being slow to react, sluggish, and suddenly losing focus during conversations.

Cough cough, don't think about it. The reason you're experiencing this during class is definitely not due to Oripathy!

In short, these complex conditions, so intricate that they were named after Joyce Moore, became the biggest obstacle in her job search, almost depriving her of her right to choose.

The reason is simple: even in Colombia, where policies regarding people with Oripathy are relatively lenient, few reputable large tech companies are willing to hire people with Oripathy as employees. And certainly no tech company would hire a scholar with a functional impairment in their brain.

Joyce Moore sent her resume to many companies, including Beach Umbrella, Weyland, and Arasaka, but without exception, her resume either disappeared without a trace or was explicitly returned with a cold, feigned well-wishing message.

"We are delighted that you have chosen our company. However, after our assessment, you do not currently meet our hiring standards. We have added you to our talent pool and will contact you if a suitable position becomes available in the future. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors."

Joyce Moore silently recited the words in her mind, and the HR person in front of her repeated them exactly as if Joyce, the teacher, was supervising a student's recitation of a text.

I memorized it very well, without any problems.

Joyce thought to herself, and since there was no reason to criticize or reject her, she could only purse her lips, a hint of helpless disappointment appearing in her pale golden eyes. She nodded slightly and walked out of the interview room.

Stepping out of the building, Joyce skillfully deleted another company from her phone's notes app. Staring at the last company on the list, Rhine Life, she fell into a long silence.

Even in the constellation of stars in Trimont, Rhine Lab can be considered the most dazzling among the countless rising stars.

Founded in 1085, this company, with its outstanding founding team's exceptional talent and impressive background, has attracted the attention of numerous super-capital firms in Colombia, including the Melander Foundation. In just a few years, it has grown into a giant enterprise with nine departments, covering research fields from bioengineering to construction.

Despite Joyce Moore's optimism and courage, and her refusal to underestimate herself, she had to admit that even without her illness, entering Rhine Lab was a luxury she could only dream of.

Not to mention, she is currently a patient.
