To Artoria's surprise, the usually unremarkable Kai was unusually quiet this time, as if his voice had been pulled out of control.

The handsome, short-haired knight with scars on his face remained silent, then took a deep breath: "Because today is not only a celebration, but also the day Merlin prophesied."

"That person said that the king would appear today, as long as the sword in the stone, which is the symbol of the king, is pulled out."

At this point, a complex emotion flashed in Kai's eyes. He closed his eyes and continued, "And coincidentally, the sword in the stone is located in this very town."

“…”

"So that's it."

Artoria spoke calmly, she understood, so everything was for this moment.

On a grander scale, over a decade of training and mastering state affairs, all while appearing in public as a man, was all for this day.

On a smaller scale, the reason Kai didn't bring his knightly gear to today's celebration was so that she could come here, so that this moment could happen.

"Lia, I think you can go back. After all, there are too many strangers here, and I still have to patrol later."

As Kai began to speak, he, who had lived with him for over a decade like an older brother, had his own selfish motives.

He wanted her to live like a normal girl...

However, reality was destined not to be as he wished.

"It's alright, Brother Kai, I know what I'm doing."

The blonde girl flashed a bright smile and turned to walk towards the most crowded area.

"..."

Kai raised his hand as if to stop him, but the words wouldn't come out, and in the end he could only watch helplessly as the figure disappeared.

"Oh!!!! Someone else has gone up!"

"Damn it! It was just a little bit close!"

The legendary sword in the stone stands on the earth, and knights have tried to pull it out, but all have failed.

The defeated knights did not leave, but gathered around, for they knew that today was the day when the 'King' would surely appear.

Merlin once said that today is that time.

So even if they don't show up today, these people will stay here all day.

"What kind of event is this? Drawing swords?"

At the outermost edge of the crowd, Merlin, now an older brother with white hair, stood there with Shirou Emiya. The latter looked at the ancient Western knight equipment around him, and then at the sword-drawing activity in the middle. He felt that this scene was very familiar, and scratched his head, feeling a little itchy.

"Hmm, a sword-drawing event~ There are rewards for successfully drawing the sword~ Want to give it a try?"

Beside her, Melly seemed to think things weren't exciting enough, and her words were a mix of enticement and nagging.

Emiya Shirou scratched his head. "Is it okay? There won't be any traps, will there?"

To be honest, he was really worried about this guy who could change size at will; people like that were dangerous!

"It's okay, it's okay. Look at all the people who have tried it and they're all fine. Besides, we're on the same side now, why would I harm you?"

Meili patted her chest to assure them, her bright, sparkling eyes blinking rapidly; if she were a woman, she might be quite pleasing to the eye.

But she looks like a man now!

Emiya Shirou shuddered violently. "Don't do this, don't do this! Using this appearance to do this is a form of psychological attack."

"But I am indeed interested, I'll give it a try."

Emiya Shirou genuinely had no other thoughts, after all, he didn't even know where he was, and his reason for wanting to draw his sword was simple: because of the forging techniques he had been learning from the old man Senji Muramasa.

The forging process enhances the forger's understanding of the weapon. A master forger can immediately tell the weapon's maximum power and lifespan just by touching it. However, such forgers have a quirk: they want to touch all kinds of weapons and feel their patterns and life force.

This is Shirou Emiya's current state.

"Then I'll go."

Stepping out of the range of Meryl's aura-eliminating magic, Shirou Emiya walked towards the Sword in the Stone, passing knights who all looked at him with a hint of doubt.

When did this person arrive? Why did they walk out from behind me?

It should be noted that those who have the courage to draw their swords are either the best of the best among knights, or those who are very confident in their own strength.

Normally, someone like Emiya Shirou, with short hair and strange clothes but no armor, would definitely be remembered if he appeared.

But seeing the figure appear from behind, yet having no memory of it, the knight couldn't help but wonder, "Am I a noob?"

This knight's confusion wasn't unique; everyone who saw Shirou Emiya shared the same thought.

"Who is this conspicuous redhead? Why did he suddenly appear?"

"Beautiful patterns, this is a fine sword!"

As Shirou Emiya carefully observed the patterns on the sword, he thought to himself, "Humans can forge such a beautiful sword, but its inner meaning is something else entirely."

Even without touching it, Shirou Emiya could feel the heartbeat emanating from the hilt of the sword. The sword possessed a life of its own; this was the highest level of forging. Such skill was truly astonishing.

"If Mr. Senko Muramasa were here, he would be very excited."

Thinking of something, Shirou Emiya chuckled softly and reached out to grasp the hilt of his sword.

Hold it tight, and whisper, "Analyze!"

As the most proficient magic and a necessary action upon encountering an object, Shirou Emiya immediately began analyzing the magic. Then, he realized that random analysis was a bad thing to do.

As we all know, the purpose of analysis is to understand the object. Although the Sword in the Stone is not as mysterious as the later Sword in the Lake, it is still the Sword of Kings. From another perspective, it can be said to be an inevitable thing of the times.

As something inevitable of the times, the magical energy required to analyze it is astonishing. Shirou Emiya felt his magical energy being consumed rapidly, but the process did not progress much.

Immediately stopping the analysis, Shirou Emiya released his grip with lingering fear.

That was close! I was almost drained dry!

Luckily, we left in time!

"So, this guy failed too?"

"Of course, we all failed. What makes this guy think he can succeed? Does he think he's completely lacking in knightly qualities?"

"Haha, you still love to joke around as much as ever."

Seeing Shirou Emiya release his grip, the people around him breathed a sigh of relief. As expected, none of them were the chosen ones. What was this guy supposed to be?

At the very back of the crowd, Merlin narrowed his eyes, his gaze fixed intently on the area beneath the sword in the stone.

At the spot where the stone was stuck, a wisp of fresh, invisible limestone emerged, and Merlin was quite certain that the guy hadn't used any force.

"So, this guy has the potential to become king?"

The nightmare remains unresolved, and the newly added confusion, combined with the previous bewilderment, brings back the unresolved question in my mind.

"Why is this guy here? And who is he?"

Doubts lingered in his mind, and this feeling of being out of control was quite unpleasant. However, Merlin didn't need to think about it for long, or rather, he didn't need to think about it for the time being, because that man (woman) had arrived.

She has beautiful long hair, an immeasurable amount of magic within her body, and an exquisite appearance that is impossible to ignore. Her dazzling golden hair shines even brighter in the sunlight.

"Who...is this person?"

In the crowd, someone whispered in disbelief, "How could there be such a beauty in such a remote place?"

"Don't even think about it. I've looked into it. That guy is Artoria, Sir Hector's adopted son, and he's male."

Someone nearby was explaining things, but by the time they finished, that person was practically glowing with excitement.

wc, same here!

Merlin muttered something harshly behind him, and after deciding that this guy couldn't join the group, he turned his gaze to the dazzling figure in the stone.

Artoria had already reached the sword and was staring at Shirou Emiya, who was still standing there.

I don't know why, but after seeing this stranger, my body started acting strangely. My mouth was drooling, and I felt a little hungry... But didn't I just eat more than ten large loaves of bread this morning?

Artoria was a little troubled. Had her appetite increased recently?

"Sorry, I'm done. Please leave."

Emiya Shirou belatedly bowed and left, only to be stunned when the other person reappeared, because the other person looked so much like his friend Mordred.

Their height and build were exactly the same. If it weren't for the fact that the other person was a boy, and their temperaments were completely different, Shirou Emiya might have really mistaken him for Mordred.

"Ah, okay."

Artoria snapped out of her reverie, stepped forward to the sword, gazed at the legendary holy sword, took a deep breath, and prepared to raise her hand to grasp it.

Just as I was about to touch it, the flower floated past my eyes, and a familiar voice appeared:

Are you sure you want to pick up that sword? The outcome might not be as pleasant as you imagine.

The familiar figure didn't appear last night, but has appeared now. Has it been waiting all along?

The girl was puzzled, but before she could ask Merlin, he continued, "Becoming a king comes at a price."

Projection magic revealed a ravaged battlefield littered with fallen knights. Artoria saw her own reflection there, lying alone...

"This is your end, your inevitable end. So why do you still want to draw this sword?"

This behavior wasn't part of the communication between Melisandre and King Uther, and she didn't know why she did it. Nightmares, who don't understand human nature, don't understand these things. Perhaps she felt that the other party might back down if they saw the ending. This behavior is quite interesting.

"Merlin..."

Artoria whispered, knowing that what she had just seen must be real.

But so what? She will lead Britain to rise and make the people no longer suffer!

"I will not back down! I will become king! A worthy king!"

He reached out and covered the hilt of the sword, as if it had been made specifically for her, and his hands could hold it perfectly.

Mary didn't stop it, and her expression didn't even change, because she knew that this was an inevitable beginning.

Magic surged and flowed through Artoria's entire body. This was a gift of becoming a king; her body would never age again, for it was the exclusive domain of a king.

"Strange, I had a feeling that something had just brushed against me with disdain?"

Artoria held up her sword, a hint of doubt in her expression.

It's probably a perception error...

The girl didn't pay any attention to it, because the surroundings had already started to get noisy.

Volume 1: 4. Meryl: This guy is your brother

"Open! Are you kidding me! It's been pulled up!"

"How is that possible? This skinny guy is a king? What makes him so?!"

The surrounding knights murmured amongst themselves, many knowing that the blond boy was the chosen one. Yet, some remained unconvinced, for not every knight could be called a knight.

"No, this is the king."

Petals fell and brushed past everyone's eyes, silencing those who wanted to speak.

Because everyone knows that Merlin, the magician who once served as the king's advisor, has arrived.

"Lord Merlin."

"Lord Merlin."

"Lord Merlin."

The crowd parted to make way, and the knights on both sides bowed their heads respectfully.

"Merlin..."

Artoria whispered, and the knights around her exchanged glances. Did they know each other before, judging from that tone?

"Yes, Your Highness Artoria Pendragon, Merlin the Magician reporting for duty."

Merlin bowed, his words freezing everything in time.

The knights, who had initially intended to be aggressive, were suddenly speechless, sweat beading on their foreheads. This was bad.

Merlin arrived and bowed directly without any introduction, which means that they already knew each other before, or rather, that Merlin had been secretly cultivating them over the past ten years.
