[Author's Note on Launch]
It was released early this morning.
Thank you so much to all the brothers who have supported me all this way.
I've been writing this book for over a month now.
Another idea I had before starting the book was rejected by the editor after a long period of preparation. Then I dug out this opening that I had written several years ago.
When I first came up with this idea, I wanted to write an ensemble piece where the main character never appears in the story, indirectly depicting the various changes a mythical creature brings to the world. However, I found that I lacked the writing skills, so I shelved it. After some revisions, this book came to be.
The book performed much better than I expected in the early stages. My previous book only garnered 10,000 views after four rounds of sales, and I used to deeply resent Qidian's system of giving high sales based on the beginning. I never thought that I would become a beneficiary this time. (Laughing and crying)
Of course, this also attracted a lot of controversy o(╥﹏╥)o
I've been trying my best to write this book, and I'm writing it seriously. If you think it's good, please subscribe if you can. This is very, very important for a new book.
I have five chapters and over 10,000 words in my draft, and I'll release them all at once when it goes on sale at midnight.
I estimate I can write one or two more chapters after get off work.
Please subscribe.
I'm begging you! Orz
Thank you so much! (≧▽≦)
Chapter 83 Ancient Jade [Seeking First Subscription]
Liu Sheng remembered that he had seen the style of the characters in the mural on an ancient jade artifact.
It is an artifact from the Liangzhu culture site. The three symbols carved on it are very similar in style to the mural characters, or rather, they are from the same source.
There is also a special symbol on the top of that jade artifact.
That symbol was exceptionally magical; everyone who saw it for the first time could feel an unusual sense of awe, as if their very soul was trembling.
He was fortunate enough to meet it and was deeply impressed by it.
The symbol was very similar to several of the ninety-one symbols in the current documents, and he was certain it was one of them.
That ancient jade artifact is now housed in the Daying Museum.
Back when he was on an exchange trip abroad, the Ying expert proudly showed them the hidden collection, claiming it was the true crown jewel of their Great Ying Museum.
It was lost from Bactria more than a hundred years ago.
Liu Sheng stared intently at the symbols, finding them increasingly mysterious.
These symbols are all very complex, and they are full of a special charm.
He could see them clearly, but when he closed his eyes, they would always slowly disappear from his mind.
"These things must have been taken out by Bai Long!" Liu Sheng thought to himself.
He thought of Bai Long speaking fluently in a script that had never been recorded in history thousands of years ago, and guessed that such symbols might also be some kind of mysterious script from ancient times.
With that in mind, he turned on his computer and began modifying the prepared document.
This is the information he prepared for Bailong, which details the relevant research on Longshan culture and specifically notes those ancient sites with similar inscriptions.
Thinking of that ancient jade artifact, he added its existence to the list, and also supplemented some research on the Liangzhu culture period in which it was located, as well as the location of the ancient site.
Finally, he thought of the Dawenkou culture, which was relatively close to both periods.
To avoid missing anything, he contacted his former colleagues.
He was determined to please Bai Long and demonstrate his worth.
……
Lu Mengdi has already demonstrated her value.
At this moment, she was inside the Dragon Palace, patiently explaining to Lei Yao how to write the various runes.
A few days ago, Bai Lin wrote down those ninety-one runes and then left.
Without his permission, even Guan Mi did not take the liberty of photographing it.
Lu Mengdi seized the time and memorized it in the shortest possible time.
After repeatedly testing to ensure that no stroke was missed, she copied it down and delivered it to Liu Chongyu in Guan Mi's name.
Upon learning the significance of the runes, Liu Chongyu was overjoyed.
He guessed that this was Bai Long's "reward" in return for Bai Long's kindness.
At Director Zhao's instruction, the ninety-one runes were passed on to some core members of Yatou Mountain.
Lei Yao naturally received it as well.
He originally thought he wouldn't need it.
After all, he had no interest in making talismans or setting up formations; he only wanted to unlock his body's potential as quickly as possible.
However, Bai Lin insisted that he must write everything down.
Lei Yao had no choice but to bite the bullet and learn.
Seeing that he was making too little progress, Lu Mengdi volunteered to help.
She was already aware that she was forgetting these runes too quickly and had to memorize them repeatedly every day.
But she seemed to have made things worse.
Captain Lei's strokes became crooked and distorted.
Bai Lin glanced at it from afar, feeling rather speechless.
He then looked at Guan Mi and saw her silently writing the runes on a blank sheet of paper.
From beginning to end, there was nothing wrong with any of them.
Bai Lin nodded secretly.
This knowledge could actually be stored in jade slips, making it easier to learn, but unfortunately, suitable materials are lacking on Earth.
Runes are different from others; directly imparting them through divine sense has a small chance of causing accidents.
"Mr. Bai, am I alright this time?" Guan Mi picked up the paper in his hand and showed it to Bai Lin.
"Not bad," Bai Lin praised.
"Can you teach me how to make talismans now?" Guan Mi asked expectantly.
She had asked about it the day before, but Bai Lin pointed out many problems with the runes.
Bai Lin's requirements are very strict.
In fact, subtle differences in strokes can also demonstrate extraordinary effects, although the power will be reduced.
Back then, Bai Lin was corrected by his master again and again, and it took him almost half a day to finally satisfy the old man.
He said, "Making talismans requires not only knowing the combination and arrangement of runes in different talismans, but also talisman paper, talisman brush, and talisman ink."
All three require an object possessing spiritual energy.
Guan Mi's face immediately fell.
Am I doing something useless?
“The talisman paper can be made from the branches of those trees outside the door,” Bai Lin suddenly said. “As for the talisman ink, I’ll teach you how to mix it.”
Using one's own spiritual energy as a guide, one can indeed create talisman ink, but it is more extravagant than directly using the blood of a spirit chicken or spirit dog.
"As for the talisman brush..." Bai Lin paused, then looked at Guan Mi and said, "Have someone bring me the dragon skeleton from last time."
Lei Yao and Lu Mengdi both pricked up their ears to listen.
He glanced at the two of them and then said, "It's perfect timing; I'll keep my promise and reward them!"
Guan Mi had guessed that he might need to use the bones of a dragon to make a talisman brush for himself, and he was already looking forward to it.
She immediately nodded and said, "I'll go and inform Director Zhao right now."
Making a phone call was too slow, so she decided to make a trip.
Bai Lin glanced at the two of them, then flashed and disappeared into the lake.
……
That evening, an extended military transport vehicle arrived at the foot of Yatou Mountain.
The dragon skeleton, which was originally kept in Yancheng, was rushed to the Dragon Palace.
When Director Zhao arrived and saw Bai Lin's satisfied expression, he breathed a sigh of relief.
The skeleton is the one at the bottom of Qinglong Lake.
Because of the sealing technique, it was preserved in a much better condition.
This dragon is also much stronger.
After informing Guan Mi that he was going into seclusion and ordering everyone not to approach, Bai Lin sealed himself inside the Dragon Palace.
Actually, it was his master who suggested that he learn weapon crafting.
Dragon energy is the finest form of flame.
The dragon's aura belongs to "cold fire".
According to the old man, if you transform into a white dragon but don't learn some weapon crafting skills, wouldn't you really be just like those big beasts?
A layer of frost gradually formed on the walls outside the Dragon Palace.
Liu Sheng, with red eyes, approached Zhang Yu.
Three days had passed since Bai Lin went into seclusion to refine weapons.
Liu Sheng has been extremely busy these past few days.
He compiled all the collected materials into a book and specially drew a map, marking the various archaeological excavation sites and making special notes on some locations where special characters appeared.
To accomplish these things, he used a lot of his connections.
Zhang Yu carefully flipped through the pages, nodding occasionally.
It took him about twenty minutes to finish browsing through it.
"It's very well organized; Mr. Bai should be satisfied," he concluded.
Liu Sheng's face lit up with joy.
"Just leave the things here. Mr. Bai is currently in seclusion. I'll take them upstairs when he's finished," Zhang Yu said.
Liu Sheng's expression immediately changed.
He painstakingly organized all of this, wasn't it all so that he could present it to Bai Long in person?
Is this guy trying to claim credit for himself?
Seeing his pale and bluish complexion, as well as the dark circles under his eyes and the bloodshot eyes, Zhang Yu laughed and said, "Just kidding. I'll take Professor Liu over when Mr. Bai is done with his work."
He had already mentioned Liu Sheng's matter to Liu Chongyu and consulted with Director Zhao.
I was fortunate enough to see the White Dragon's true face and even had a private conversation with him. The higher-ups took this very seriously and granted him a lot more authority.
Liu Sheng is now qualified to enter Yatou Mountain and meet Bai Long.
Thinking about this, Dr. Zhang couldn't help but feel a little wistful.
He considered himself the second-ranking close advisor to Bai Long, but Lei Yao became a Dragon Guard before him, and now he has two formidable enemies: Lu Mengdi and Liu Sheng.
"Dragon energy! Dragon energy!" Dr. Zhang grabbed a handful of hair, feeling a little impatient.
He originally thought that the "Dragon Qi Detector" would not be too difficult, but when he actually implemented it, he found that it was much more difficult than he had expected.
Even after they found a microorganism that was exceptionally sensitive to dragon energy through numerous experiments, they still couldn't detect any dragon energy fluctuations on Lei Yao as Bai Long had suggested.
This is simply an impossible task!
"How about we try it today?" Liu Sheng asked tentatively.
He was still a little unsure, worried that this guy would steal his achievements.
