"Then how did you know he was Relian?"
"Guess."
"Was his death related to you?"
"No."
Every time Samif asked a question, Wiener would involuntarily blurt out an answer.
At this moment, Wiener finally understood what the other party wanted to know.
But he didn't understand why he would be suspected in such a matter.
"Wait, you suspect that Relian's death is related to me?"
Before Samif could speak, Wiener raised his own question.
“Yes,” Samif replied without hesitation.
“I spent the entire Saturday in the dungeon with Felix and Listy, and I spent almost the entire Sunday in the workshop. What makes you conclude that I had time to kill?” Venere argued. “I had no motive whatsoever.”
“You don’t necessarily have to be there.” Samif opened Vina’s weapon case and picked out the snake’s beak.
"Rélian's death was very suspicious. Although he had wounds, they weren't fatal. Having ruled out poison and magic, that leaves only—"
Samif plunged the gun into Vina's face.
"Thanks to your inspiration, I realized a possibility that I had previously overlooked."
Have you given this weapon to anyone else?
After witnessing the petrifying ability of the snake's beak, Samif suspected that it was a trick done to the weapon.
"No. If I may ask, when was Relian's confirmed time of death?"
"Are you trying to trick me into telling me something?"
"Yes, but you don't have to answer. What I'm saying is that the forging of this snake beak was completed on Sunday morning. If this student died earlier than that, then..."
Although he didn't say everything, Wiener's meaning was quite clear.
If the time of Relian's death does not correspond to the time of the Serpent's Beak's forging, then not only Vina, but also the Serpent's Beak itself will have an alibi.
"This matter really has nothing to do with you?"
“Absolutely no connection. If the academy needs my cooperation, I am fully willing to assist. There is no need to resort to such methods of interrogation.”
If some of the candidates wished for a diplomatic approach followed by force, rather than being suddenly abducted halfway through their journey like this.
"I'll assume for now that Relian's death has nothing to do with you. So, the next question is, who exactly are you, and what was your purpose in entering the academy?"
Samif checked Wiener's resume and found that he was overly innocent.
How could a blacksmith in a small village who has been forging iron for seven or eight years possibly possess skills in multiple weapons that are beyond his years?
Even if these could be explained by innate talent, Samif's unpredictable fighting style and mature, cautious nature made her feel that the person in front of her was not a seventeen or eighteen-year-old boy, but a person with ulterior motives disguised as someone else.
The student's death in the dungeon and the infiltration of the academy by someone with ulterior motives are two separate events.
"I am Vena, and I entered the academy to destroy the demon god."
Wiener's mouth once again answered uncontrollably.
This time, however, both the person asking the question and the person answering were stunned.
Samif's question actually brought up the main quest that Viner had been avoiding.
Wiener didn't actually have much awareness.
If he could live freely and unaffected by the resurrection of the demon god, he would not care about the love and hatred between the demon god and the hero.
If the demon god doesn't let him have an easy time, then Venus, driven to desperation, is capable of anything.
“...Your ambitions are quite lofty.” Samif’s lips twitched slightly.
Under the influence of the Truth Word spell, no one can lie; they can only reveal their deepest thoughts.
Wiener's answer was clearly sarcastic about the blunder she had made.
"Ha, ha." Viner chuckled dryly.
Just as the two were pondering whether to continue their conversation, a bright light suddenly flashed from the door behind Samif, and then it was cleaved open from the outside.
"Samif, what's wrong with you! Arresting people without any basis and abusing your power, what do you think the academy is!"
Ada stormed in, pushing open the door with one hand and holding a scalpel in the other, her eyes flashing as she berated Samif.
Doctors also use knives, so it's perfectly normal for them to have some skill.
"Tsk." Faced with Ada's rebuke, Samif simply clicked her tongue lightly without offering any explanation.
"Dr. Ida?"
When Viner saw Ida suddenly barge in, she first stared in surprise, then gradually relaxed her tense nerves.
At this moment, Dr. Ada appeared like a savior.
"Sorry, I'll untie it for you."
Ada glared at Samif with a fierce look in her eyes, her gaze full of warning, implying that she would settle the score with her later.
The scalpel in her hand danced like lightning, so fast it was dazzling. A series of silver flashes appeared, and the ropes that had been tightly binding Vena were severed as if by magic, scattering across the ground.
Vina finally understood that the faculty and staff of St. Freya Academy were all incredibly talented individuals.
So what's the situation now?
Having regained his freedom, Wiener did not rush to stand up from his seat, but waited for an explanation.
“Vina, she’s Samif, a knight of the St. Freya Knights. I think there’s been some misunderstanding in this situation…” Ada wanted to try and smooth things over for her friend.
“It has nothing to do with the Knights or the Academy; it was all my personal action.” Samif, however, showed no appreciation and looked at Vena, saying, “I have doubts about your experience, purpose, and motives for joining the Academy, so I conducted an investigation.”
"There is indeed a blacksmith named Viner in Lumiel Village who is extremely skilled in forging. But other than that, he is just an ordinary person who has never received any warrior training before leaving Lumiel Village."
“This is completely inconsistent with what I know about your performance at the academy. Therefore, I certainly have reason to suspect that this blacksmith named Viner was switched on his way to the academy.”
Chapter 98: A Profile of Venere's Battle
"So, I've now proven my innocence?"
"I asked, resting my chin on my hand."
Although the process wasn't pleasant, this interrogation actually served as a confirmation of my identity, so it was acceptable.
"It's possible you're just hiding it well. I'll keep an eye on you."
Samif was not as easily fooled as Vina had imagined.
“You’ve gone too far, Samif.” Ida walked up to Samif, placed her hands on the table, and accused her.
“Even without this incident, every student who joins the Silver Wolf House must undergo background checks and vetting.”
Rather, it is precisely because Wiener was an openly selected candidate that Samif was even more intolerant of any flaws.
“It seems this lady still doesn’t believe me,” Viner sighed, getting up from her chair.
Such stubborn people will never change their minds unless presented with solid evidence.
However, it's time to prove our loyalty to the academy.
“Then I’ll demonstrate for this lady. Dr. Ada, may I borrow your scalpel?”
“You don’t really need to prove anything anymore. I’ll tell her not to let her continue to act recklessly,” Ada assured Vina.
Seeing the determination in Viner's eyes, even though he didn't know what Viner was up to, he still handed the scalpel to him.
“Before I awakened my emblem, I was indeed just an ordinary blacksmith. This lady’s suspicions are understandable.”
"But what if I said this is the emblem of my awakened power—the power of Gondorav?"
Wiener walked over and took the scalpel from Dr. Ida with his left hand.
The gloves had already been removed during the search of Samif, and the unique and dazzling luster of the gloves shone brightly in the air.
Then Wiener turned around and waved his hand.
A burst of silver light appeared, and the chair he had just been sitting on was instantly cut into several pieces, with broken pieces of wood scattered all over the ground.
"This isn't mine..."
Dr. Ada watched in shock. This was clearly her specialty, yet it had been perfectly replicated by an outsider.
"Yes."
After the demonstration, Wiener handed the scalpel back to Ida.
"This is my emblem ability. When I use a weapon, I can access and master a segment of its original owner's memories. This is why I can master multiple weapons in a short period of time."
"I wonder if this will clear up your doubts?"
Wiener looked at the silent Samif.
"Why are you mute?" Ada nudged her friend, who knew she was in the wrong.
"That's enough, you can go now." Samif closed her eyes, seemingly lost in thought. "I will make amends for this misunderstanding."
"There's no rush yet."
They kidnapped him without a word, based solely on suspicion. Now, with the matter unresolved, they think they can just dismiss him with a single sentence?
Vina will teach her a lesson about how easy it is to invite a god but difficult to send him away.
"Among Relian's belongings, are there any weapons he used?" Viner nodded slightly, then turned to ask about other things.
“Yes, among Relian’s belongings is a spear he used,” Ada interjected.
"What do you mean?" Samif opened her eyes and looked at Vina, seemingly guessing his intentions.
“I might be able to get some clues from this.” Viner raised his left hand.
The other two people present immediately recalled the scene where Wiener had previously used a scalpel to recreate Ada's knife technique.
“I’ll go get it right away,” Ada said.
“Let’s go together.” Vina didn’t want to be alone with Samif.
The three of them were not in a typical interrogation room, but in the morgue located beneath the medical room.
Using a morgue as an interrogation room—only someone like Samie could pull that off.
"Then let's do as he says."
Samif grabbed the weapon case from the table, tossed it to Viner, and then walked out of the room first, followed closely by Ada.
Wiener then lagged a few steps behind, tidying up the rest of his things.
When the three arrived at the room where the relics were stored, Ada quickly found a long spear among a pile of miscellaneous items.
“Once the matter is investigated thoroughly, the academy will arrange for these relics to be sent back to Relian’s hometown,” Ada explained as she handed the spear to Viner.
This gun looked familiar to Viner, and it looked incredibly familiar no matter how she looked at it.
What's going on?
Oh, so it's the same white wax steel gun that was handcrafted by Wiener and endorsed by Felix.
“This gun was found when we discovered Relian’s body. I’ve investigated, and you’re the blacksmith,” Samif said coldly.
"Uh."
This is really hard to explain for Wiener.
How could he possibly guess that this Lerian was actually a fan of celebrities?
“I’ve given you the item. Let’s see what you find,” Samif continued.
"Let me try."
Wiener picked up his steel gun and activated Gondorav. He immediately sensed something was wrong and looked up at Samif.
"How is Raylian usually doing?"
“Unremarkable,” Samif summarized. “While not exactly reclusive, I’ve never heard of any close friends either. In terms of strength, I’m about average.”
"That's strange." Viner lowered his gun to the ground, quite puzzled. "Why would he hide his true abilities?"
