"Wow—!!!" Paimon was the first to exclaim, flying in like a white lightning bolt, his eyes turning into stars.

Yi Chen was also stunned. He blinked, wondering if he had opened the wrong door. He took two steps back, checked the door number, and then peeked inside.

He muttered to himself, "That guy Kaiya... he even has furniture..."

Before he could finish speaking, his body had already reacted!

With a cheer, he took a running start and leaped, launching himself with pinpoint accuracy onto the largest sofa, sinking into the incredibly soft foam cushions and letting out a satisfied, almost groaning sigh.

"Ah—!!! I'm saved!!! Kaeya! You're my god—!!!"

Seeing this, Paimon followed suit, shouting, "Paimon's here too!" and pounced on the nearby single sofa like a little cannonball. Although he was small and didn't make much noise, he happily rolled around on the soft fabric.

"So soft! So comfortable! It's amazing!"

Paimon buried his face in the sofa, his voice muffled, filled with a happy sigh.

She raised her little head, looked at Yichen who was sprawled out on his back, and sincerely praised him.

"The mysterious man who crashed his plane! Your friend... he's such a good person! He even prepared all of this! That's amazing!"

Ying followed behind and was also amazed by the unexpected level of completeness.

She gently touched the high-end-looking wooden dining table next to her, then looked at the gleaming, seemingly unused kitchen utensils, her eyes filled with disbelief.

Yi Chen slumped on the sofa and waved his hand weakly.

"Right, right! That guy is actually pretty reliable when it matters! It's worth all the times I've been tricked by him!"

He struggled to turn over, looking around at his brand-new, comfortable, and even somewhat luxurious "new home," feeling that the recent ups and downs he had experienced had finally come to a perfect end.

"Decided!"

He sat up abruptly and slammed his hand on the sofa armrest.

"We have to have a big feast tonight to celebrate our housewarming! Paimon! Just tell me what you want to eat! I'm in a good mood today, so there's plenty!"

Paimon immediately jumped up from the sofa.

"Paimon wants honey-glazed carrot and pork stir-fry! Sweet flower-stuffed chicken! And..."

Seeing Yichen and Paimon start making a ruckus again in an instant, Ying couldn't help but smile, and the last bit of unease she felt about staying there vanished.

It seems like my time in Mondstadt is going to be very interesting.

Chapter 13 Barbara

The next morning, Yi Chen was immersed in the ultimate comfort brought by the soft pillows and bedding when a continuous, somewhat noisy commotion came from outside the window, like a swarm of bees buzzing, stubbornly trying to dredge him from his sleep.

He impatiently covered his head with the pillow, rolled over, and tried to ignore the annoying noise.

However, the sound did not weaken; instead, it seemed to grow louder. It also seemed to include a female voice that he recognized somewhat. Although he couldn't make out the specific content, the tone seemed to carry a sense of helplessness and exhaustion.

Yi Chen's brows furrowed deeper and deeper, until finally he couldn't bear it any longer. He threw off the covers, walked barefoot to the window, and muttered to himself.

"Who is it so early in the morning...?"

He opened the window, and the slightly cool morning air and the increasingly clear noise rushed in.

Not far downstairs, a group of residents who looked like enthusiastic fans or just there for the fun were surrounding a petite figure in layers—it was Barbara, the prayer priest of the Church of the West Wind.

The crowd chattered amongst themselves; some held notebooks wanting autographs, some excitedly expressed their admiration, and others seemed to be simply asking questions.

Barbara, surrounded in the center, tried hard to maintain a smile, but the edges of that smile were clearly stiff, and her eyes revealed an undisguised fatigue and a sense of helplessness.

She seemed to be trying to calm everyone down, but her voice was quickly drowned out by the louder noise.

Looking at the scene downstairs, and then at Barbara's forced, barely-holding smile, Yi Chen's brows furrowed tightly.

A mixture of emotions welled up inside me: "I can't stand seeing honest people being bullied" and "I will punish anyone who disturbs my sleep, no matter how far away they are."

He lazily raised his hand, and a wisp of pale blue wind elemental energy gathered and swirled at his fingertips like an obedient little snake.

He spoke softly to the breeze, with a hint of mischief in his voice.

“Attack their demonic orbs and bring them to their senses.”

The wisp of wind obediently whooshed out of the window and flew precisely toward the magic orb of the group of people downstairs.

However, just a second before it was about to reach those enthusiastic fans, it seemed to encounter some invisible barrier, or perhaps out of some kind of "disdain," it suddenly made a sharp turn and flew back to Yi Chen's fingertips, trembling slightly, as if expressing its dissatisfaction.

Yi Chen: "???"

He stared blankly at the wisp of wind elemental power at his fingertips that seemed to be "acting up," and blinked in confusion.

"Hmm... Don't you want to touch those demon orbs? Do you think they're dirty?"

He touched his chin thoughtfully.

"A germaphobe? That's something new..."

Just then, out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of several unidentified small beetles crawling through the crack in the windowsill, and his eyes lit up immediately.

He snapped his fingers, and the wisp of wind flew out from his fingertip again. This time, it did not attack the crowd, but instead skillfully swept up the few bewildered little beetles, like the most skillful concealed weapon technique, silently and accurately throwing them into the back collars of the male fans who were the most tightly packed and the loudest.

"Huh? What?"

"Ouch...it's so itchy!"

"Wow! A bug has crawled into my clothes!"

"Ah! Where?!"

Almost immediately, several screams and commotion erupted from the crowd downstairs.

The male fans who were "precisely targeted" for autographs forgot about getting autographs and started jumping and hopping around in a flurry, trying to get the uninvited guests off their backs. The scene became somewhat comical and chaotic.

Taking advantage of the sudden chaos, Barbara finally found a chance to escape.

She quickly apologized to the crowd, saying things like "I'm sorry" and "I have other things to do at the church," then lifted her skirt and hurried through the gaps in the crowd, running towards the West Wind Cathedral.

However, just before she was about to run into the church, she suddenly stopped, turned around, and stared intently at the window where Yi Chen was.

In the sunlight, she saw the dark-haired youth leaning against the window, a lingering smirk of triumph on his face.

Barbara paused for a moment, and then, a genuinely relaxed and grateful smile involuntarily bloomed on her face, which had been slightly tired from being troubled.

She nodded slightly but clearly towards the window, and mouthed a silent sentence:

After saying that, she turned around quickly and slipped into the church, disappearing into the light and shadow, like a frightened fawn that had finally found safety.

Yi Chen stood by the window, watching Barbara's disappearing figure, then looked down at his "meritorious" fingertips and whistled triumphantly.

"Hey, all done. Keep your achievements hidden."

Afterwards, Yichen took a comfortable nap until the sun was high in the sky before he got up feeling refreshed.

The Traveler and Paimon went out early in the morning, full of energy, to do quests and earn Mora. He himself also had important business to attend to—he needed to go to Jean to give a detailed report on the situation of Stormterror and the Abyss Order.

He strolled leisurely toward the Knights' headquarters.

Just as he was about to pass through the solemn doors of the church, an extremely soft voice, as if afraid of being overheard, quietly came from the side:

"Mr. Yichen...?"

Yi Chen paused, turning his head in confusion.

The heavy doors of Mondstadt Cathedral were pushed open a crack, and Barbara was peeking half of herself out through the gap.

She quickly glanced around, making sure no one else was paying attention, before giving Yi Chen a quick, small wave and urging him in a whisper:

"Mr. Yichen! Please, please come in quickly!"

She didn't look as composed and proper as usual; instead, she seemed like a child who had secretly done something she didn't want to be discovered.

Although Yi Chen was a little confused, he still went over.

As soon as they approached the door, Barbara eagerly reached out, grabbed his wrist, and gently but quickly pulled him into the church, then immediately and quietly closed the door behind her.

The interior of the church was slightly dimmer than the exterior, and the air was filled with a faint scent of incense and a tranquil atmosphere.

In the empty hall, only a few nuns were bowing their heads in prayer in the distance, unaware of the small commotion at the door.

"What's wrong, Miss Barbara?"

Yi Chen looked at the priest and Mondstadt idol in front of him, who seemed to have breathed a sigh of relief but whose cheeks were slightly flushed, and asked in a low voice.

"You're being so mysterious... Is someone pursuing you? Should I help you 'deter' them?"

As he spoke, he jokingly wagged his finger.

Chapter 14 Reminiscing about the past

"No, no!"

Barbara quickly waved her hand, realizing she was still holding Yi Chen's wrist. She released it as if burned, her hands awkwardly clasped in front of her, her head slightly lowered, her voice barely audible.

"Um... thank you so much for what happened this morning!"

She looked up, glanced quickly at Yichen, and then immediately lowered her head, her ears turning bright red.

"I saw it...it was you who used the wind...to get me out of that situation...right? Thank you...otherwise I really don't know how much longer I would have been surrounded..."

It turns out it was to thank him for the prank he played this morning.

Yi Chen suddenly realized, then smiled nonchalantly.

"I thought it was something serious. It was just a small favor. We couldn't just watch our Mondstadt superstar get surrounded and unable to move, could we? And the method was a bit... um... unusual. I hope it didn't scare you."

"No, no!"

Barbara quickly shook her head, a genuine smile appearing on her face.

"On the contrary, I think it's... amazing, and also... interesting."

She hesitated for a moment, then took out a small, exquisite item wrapped in a clean handkerchief from behind her back and handed it to Yichen with both hands.

"This... is some cookies I baked myself. It's nothing expensive... but it's a token of my appreciation! Please accept it as a thank you for this morning!"

Yi Chen looked down at the bag of handmade cookies, which still emitted a faint aroma of butter and sweetness, then glanced at Barbara's expectant and shy eyes. He paused for a moment, then laughed and readily accepted the package.

"Haha, then I won't be polite! I haven't had breakfast yet! Thank you, Miss Barbara's cooking is definitely top-notch!"

He immediately opened his handkerchief, picked up a cookie shaped like a little rabbit, stuffed it into his mouth, and crunched away. His eyes lit up: "Mmm! Delicious!"

Seeing that Yichen liked it, Barbara's smile became even brighter, as if all her shyness had turned into joy.

"As long as you like it!"

She said happily in a low voice, then, as if remembering something, reminded him...

"Um... please don't tell anyone that I gave it to you..."

"No problem! This is our secret!"

Yi Chen made a sealing gesture and picked up another cookie.

"Absolutely keep quiet!"

After finishing the cookies with great satisfaction, Yi Chen bid farewell to Barbara and continued walking towards the Knights' headquarters, feeling that the sunshine was particularly bright today.

Yi Chen gently knocked on the door of the regimental commander's office, and after hearing Qin's familiar "Come in," he pushed the door open and entered.

Inside the office, Qin was sitting behind a desk piled high with documents, her brows furrowed with weariness. But when she saw that the person who had come in was Yi Chen, her previously listless eyes instantly lit up.

"Yichen! You've come!"

She immediately stood up, walked quickly around the table, and came over.

"Is everything settled? Are you alright again, Dvalin...?"

"Don't worry, everything will be fine!"

Yi Chen interrupted her rapid-fire questions with a smile, and habitually patted his chest.

"Dvalin has regained consciousness, and I've also wiped out the Abyss Order's stronghold in the Wind Dragon Ruins. I'll give you a detailed report later..."

He briefly recounted to Jyn the events at the Wind Dragon Ruins, his communication with Dvalin, and its promises, omitting only the details of how he himself had excavated the Wind Dragon Ruins.

As Qin listened to Yichen's narration, her tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed, and the worried look on her face was replaced by unbelievable joy and relief.

Mondstadt's greatest crisis was actually... resolved by this guy who always brings "surprises"!

Overwhelmed by immense joy and a sense of relief.
