Aozawa's sudden remark stunned Ran Mouri.

She glanced back at the blonde clerk at Poirot Cafe, who was working diligently, and wondered why Qingze had given her that reminder.

In her memory, Amuro Tooru was a very warm-hearted and righteous person.

"Are you referring to Mr. Amuro? Can you tell me why?"

A laugh came from the other end of the phone, tinged with sarcasm and mockery.

"Innocent girl, would you like to guess what his code name is?"

Aozawa made no attempt to hide his pity for Ran Mouri, who was unaware of the danger she was in.

"And by the way, guess what his purpose is in standing downstairs at your house."

Qingze's words hit Ran Mouri like a heavy hammer, leaving her dizzy and disoriented.

Is Mr. Amuro also a member of that organization?

how come!

He even became his father's apprentice...

They came for Dad?!

Ran Mouri was startled, and a fine layer of cold sweat crept up her back.

She recalled Qingze's story about how her father was almost sniped.

Were there so many dangers lurking around her without her even realizing it?

Pay close attention to your surroundings. Don't wait until it's too late to realize what's happening.

After saying that, Qingze hung up the phone.

He closed his phone and continued walking slowly forward.

He is currently in Beika Town and is looking for a house there, as his current residence is too far from the Mori Detective Agency.

It's really inconvenient and time-consuming to cross two or three towns every time I go from the Mori office.

The screen in her hand went black, and Ran Mouri lowered her hand that was holding the phone.

When exactly did so many dangers appear around her?

She was completely unaware.

Why has Amuro Tooru been here for so long? What is he trying to do?

And...Conan...

She could no longer hide her eyes; she had to face the facts that she had sensed were different but didn't want to or dare to believe.

"Sister Xiaolan, why aren't you upstairs yet?"

Conan scurried down the stairs. He had been watching Ran on the phone for over half an hour, and now it was getting dark. Why wasn't he coming upstairs?

"Well, here we come."

Ran Mouri pulled herself together from her chaotic thoughts, glanced at Poirot Cafe, and went upstairs.

"Ran-neechan, who were you talking to on the phone just now?" Conan couldn't help but ask, a pang of sadness welling up inside him.

She can't even talk to herself for that long on the phone, and recently she's only been able to exchange a few words on the phone.

“A friend.” Ran Mouri patted his head, not intending to explain.

She went inside to change her shoes and put down her schoolbag.

She looked around and saw that the restaurant was empty. Her father was sitting on the sofa, drunk, with a pile of empty wine cans scattered around him.

She suddenly became angry and vented her pent-up emotions by punching the table in front of the sofa.

The table cracked open with a loud crack, startling the drunken Kogoro Mori awake.

"What happened? What happened? Was there an earthquake?"

"father!"

Ran Mouri rubbed her hands together, her smile unusually terrifying.

I haven't seen my dad for a few days, and I should be missing him terribly, but seeing him so drunk, it's hard not to be angry.

"Are you sober?"

"Wake up... I'm awake..." Kogoro Mouri shrank his neck, his mind already foggy, but he was startled awake.

What's wrong with Xiaolan today? Why is she so temperamental?

"Clean up the bottles on the ground right now!"

"Yes!" Kogoro Mori quickly got up and started working.

"Conan, call and order three beef bowls. I'm tired and don't want to cook."

"Okay, Ran-neechan." Conan quickly followed the instructions and called to order takeout.

At the same time, he also had some doubts.

What happened to Xiaolan today? Why is she so short-tempered?

Ran Mouri pinched the bridge of her nose. A lot had happened today, especially the probing of Gin and his group, which had taken a huge toll on her energy and left her exhausted.

Ran Mouri was a little distracted as she watched her father pack up the bottles.

The organization that Mr. Qingze belongs to uses alcohol as a code name for everything.

Whether it's gin, vodka, Vermouth, or Fiano, they are all names of alcoholic beverages.

Do these wine names have any meaning? Or are they simply used as code names?

A memory fragment flashed through my mind.

In the dimly lit dock, a blonde woman held a gun, aiming at Ai, and seemed to be calling out Sherry's name.

She rushed out of the trunk, firmly shielding Haibara in her arms, using her body to block any bullets that might come at her.

Sherry, it seems, is also the name of a type of liquor.

A self-deprecating smile suddenly appeared on her lips.

Ai Haibara... Conan...

Some things aren't actually that hard to deduce.

But whenever this thought crossed her mind, all sorts of things would always come up to dispel her suspicions.

Yeah.

Now that everyone has secrets, she doesn't feel guilty about keeping them to herself.

She will uncover all the secrets in her own way.

Conan noticed Ran's change in mood, and he rushed to her, looking at her with concern.

"Sister Xiaolan, are you in a bad mood?"

He was eager to know what Xiaolan had encountered and what had happened these past few days, but Xiaolan had been too busy and rarely stayed at home, let alone chatted with him.

"A little bit... I've been too tired lately. I'm going to rest for a while. Call me when the takeout arrives."

Conan frowned with worry as he watched Ran walk back to her room.

What has Xiaolan been busy with lately?

After closing the door, Ran Mouri lay on the bed for a while, staring blankly at the ceiling.

What exactly happened to Shinichi?

Is it something as fantastical and inexplicable as hers?

Turning into a child or something is indeed fantastical.

But why keep it from her?

She discovered it so many times, but each time she was fooled.

Don't you want to tell her that much?

She covered her eyes with her hands, and tears silently streamed down her cheeks, falling into her hair.

Various dangers had already crept up on her without her even realizing it. In Shinichi's opinion, was this really for her own good?

And Dad...

What does Dad know? And how much does he know?

Amuro Tooru... what kind of wine is it this time? Is he eyeing Dad or Conan?

Ran Mouri felt utterly exhausted as her mind was a jumbled mess of thoughts.

So much has happened during this time; I was caught off guard and became a different person, taking over someone else's life.

Learning, performing, walking on a tightrope over a precipice—the slightest mistake could lead to utter ruin.

Before she could even calm herself down, she discovered that things weren't much different on her end.

A bugging device, her father nearly being sniped, Amuro Tooru downstairs with unclear intentions, and even more people and things she didn't know...

In just a few days, her ordinary high school life was completely turned upside down.

She turned her head to look out the window. By then, it was completely dark, there was no moon, and the sky was a gloomy gray.

The window was opened a crack, and a breeze was blowing in from outside.

She opened the window, stood by it, and enjoyed the cool night breeze.

Strands of hair fluttered in the wind behind her, and the few tear stains were quickly dried.

She suddenly flashed a rather unpleasant smile.

"It's nothing serious, Ran Mouri."

Everyone has their own thoughts, and since we can't control their choices, we should respect their decisions.

Ran Mouri will protect those she wants to protect in her own way. She will seek out everything she wants to know.

She didn't want to be the cowardly person Mr. Qingze described.

Thinking of Ai Haibara, who was like a little adult, Ran Mouri smiled. This smile was much better and more genuine than the one she had just seen, which was more like a grimace.

Conan has comrades-in-arms, and Ran Mouri isn't alone either.

Let's move forward in our own way.

----------

The following are the author's random thoughts:

Before writing this article, I had read quite a few unconventional pairing stories about Qinlan (although they were unconventional, I enjoyed watching them break up the pairings).

Most of these stories start with Xiaolan's inability to accept being deceived. In many of them, Xiaolan's reaction is somewhat extreme, and then she is suddenly taken advantage of.

(Perhaps because most of the stories I read were short, the plots progressed very quickly.)

I think Xiaolan will be upset, but I'm sure she won't be unable to accept it.

She is a very resolute and open-minded person. She accepts Shinichi's concealment and protection, but she also feels that being concealed is a sign of distrust.

They unilaterally felt that Ran Mouri needed protection and unilaterally excluded her from the battlefield. She would feel uncomfortable and distrusted. This sense of distrust is fatal and can cause a huge rift in the relationship.

I'm really satisfied with this part. This is exactly how I envision Xiaolan: resolute, brave, open-minded, and decisive.

Breaking up couples starts from childhood. What's the point of breaking them up when you know nothing? It's about undermining them at the right time.

This is a medium-length novel, no less than 50 words, and it's not impossible for it to be one million or even two million words.

(The author writes long novels; they can't be short, they simply can't be short.)

Therefore, the relationship won't progress so quickly; it will be a slow and steady process. (I also don't like falling in love abruptly, as that would make Ran Mouri's feelings for Shinichi seem like a joke.)

The main storyline is romance, and it will depict Ran Mouri's growth and transformation, so there will be a lot of stories told from Ran's perspective.

By the way, just to mention, the protagonist Qingze doesn't support either the red or black side.

Aozawa and Ran Mouri face off against the Red and Black teams.
