The woman was taken aback, and Vincent revealed a smug expression. The next second, the woman's knee slammed into his crotch again, making him stick out his tongue like a frog.
Seeing the Demon King in pain made the heroine happy, and in her happiness, she came up with a brilliant plan.
"If space can't solve the problem, then use time."
The woman's words stunned Vincent, and then his expression changed drastically: "I see, I see, now everything makes sense. I was wondering how I became V, I understand, I understand everything!"
"What nonsense are you spouting? Have you gone mad?"
"No, I'm not crazy!" Vincent said hurriedly. "Listen to me, you absolutely cannot send me to other points in time, that will only start a new cycle!"
The woman frowned: "What cycle?"
"Of course it's the cycle of time. Do you think time travel comes without a price? The price is that you'll be trapped in time forever!"
"Is this some kind of science fiction plot?"
“Of course not!” Vincent said seriously, “It’s hard to explain in a short time. Just know that sending me to another point in time will have very serious consequences. Didn’t you say you wanted to cooperate with me? I agreed. Release me, and I’ll tell you the whole truth. We’ll work together to find a solution to this problem!”
The woman scoffed, "And then you took the opportunity to activate the time controller, huh? Do you think I'm stupid?"
"I won't, I swear!" Vincent exclaimed excitedly. "The collaboration was your suggestion; you have no reason to refuse!"
"Sorry, that was V's suggestion, I'm not V."
"At least half of you are!"
"A V that's half V isn't a V at all. Most importantly, I don't trust you," the woman said. "I could let it go before, but now that you're so scared, it means this trick really works. In that case, why should I hand over the initiative to you? I'll solve the problem in my own way, once and for all. That's the right choice."
"This must be Vera's idea, that guy's IQ is only 3!" Vincent said in despair, "I understand, this is all a given fact, we can only reenact it over and over again, there's no way to escape it!"
"Give up? Good. Just accept your fate." The woman shrugged and said into the communicator, "Michiko, I need to take Vincent to another point in time. Prepare."
"Yes, thank you so much. We'll get ready right away."
The woman hung up the call and shoved Vincent on the shoulder: "Let's go, Lord Demon King, I'll take you to see the dinosaurs."
Vincent's face turned terribly pale: "You'll regret this."
“I’ll regret it if I don’t do this.” The woman said, hoisting Vincent onto her shoulder, calling Adam Hammer to join her, and then teleporting back into the sewers.
Since the rebels were able to forcibly bring V and Vera over, they must also possess the ability to travel through time. Michiko quickly prepared for the time travel, choosing the room next to where the two were fused.
As for the sewer system, we can't expect too much; it's already quite meticulous if it can be installed in the entire room.
The woman led Vincent into the time machine, where Vincent said again, "You're wrong, I'm right. This world must be destroyed; only destruction can break the cycle!"
"Don't worry, I'll destroy you after I've seen the dinosaurs." The woman finished speaking and asked Michiko, "Are you ready?"
Michiko nodded: "Everything is ready. Vincent will bear the cost of this time travel, so you don't need to worry about losing your memory."
"Well done," the woman praised. "Let's get started."
As the time machine was activated, a beam of white light enveloped the woman and Vincent, and a dizzying sensation followed. Their destination was Earth 2 million years ago, a time when there were neither nanonetworks nor sufficient industrial power for Vincent to utilize his technological abilities. More importantly, due to the special nature of time and space, Vincent's coordinates remained within the solar system, preventing the time control machine from activating. This was arguably the best solution.
But with a buzzing sound, the time machine suddenly exploded with a burst of lightning, and the time passage that should have opened smoothly suddenly began to collapse, trapping the woman and Vincent inside, who were about to be torn to pieces by the turbulent time flow.
"Damn!" the woman exclaimed in surprise.
Vincent, however, seemed to have anticipated this.
The woman grabbed his collar: "What the hell did you do?"
“It wasn’t me,” Vincent replied. “I didn’t do anything.”
"You didn't do anything, yet the time machine suddenly malfunctioned?"
“Who knows? Maybe a screw is loose, or maybe there’s a short circuit. Given the resistance’s technical capabilities and resources, these kinds of problems are perfectly normal.” Vincent said, as if resigned to his fate, “Everything was predetermined. This is destiny!”
"To hell with fate!" the woman exclaimed urgently. "Michiko, what's going on?"
"Unstable voltage caused one of our circuit breakers to restart."
"Damn, such a minor glitch can cause the time tunnel to collapse? Are you kidding me!"
"A series of chain reactions followed, so..."
"Alright, this isn't the time to discuss this," the woman said. "Stabilize the time portal, or I'll be torn to shreds!"
"I tried, but it didn't work. The malfunction just now caused this time travel to fail completely, and the closure of the time tunnel is now unavoidable."
"Then let's initiate another time travel, using a new time portal to overwrite the old one!"
"Time is too short to pinpoint the exact location; you may be transported to any point in time!"
"I can't worry about that now, survival is the priority. Initiate the time travel again!"
Michiko knew that this was something she could not do but force herself to travel through time a second time.
The good news is that the new time portal successfully covered the old one, so the woman no longer had to be torn to pieces; the bad news is that because Vincent's memories had already served as the price for the first time travel, the woman would have to pay the price this time.
As the white light descended again, the woman shuddered, then cried out in surprise, "Holy crap, we're separated! V, where are you?"
Michiko was taken aback, as was Vincent, because neither of them expected that the two, who had already merged under these circumstances, would suddenly separate.
But Vincent quickly figured it all out: "The two people who merged have two sets of memories. One set was taken by the time machine, so they naturally separated? But what about V? The time travel wasn't finished yet, so where did V go?"
“I’m fucking inside you!” Vincent suddenly uttered another sound.
Because she needed to control Vincent, the woman maintained a physical connection with him. After the fusion was broken, Vera remained in the new body, while V was "bounced" into Vincent's body.
"Damn, what's going on?" Vera, with an intelligence level of 3, was completely bewildered.
But V did not.
"Vera, exit the time tunnel!"
"what?"
"We were able to control Vincent before because he couldn't leave. Now I'm inside his body, so you don't need to stay with him anymore. Get out!"
"What about you?"
"At this point, let's try to get as many people as possible to escape. I'll build another time machine and come back."
As V spoke, he controlled Vincent to kick Vera away.
"Damn, if the teleportation succeeds, you'll have no memories left, and the memory backup will be in your original body. What's the point of building a time machine then?" Vera wanted to return to the time tunnel, but Adam Hammer grabbed her.
"She went through so much to rescue you, don't let her efforts go to waste!"
Vera shuddered, then suddenly broke free from Adam Hammer, smashed the wall with a punch, retrieved a memory chip from her own body in the adjacent laboratory, and threw it to Vincent in the time tunnel.
"V, remember to insert the chip into your brain, you absolutely must remember to insert the chip into your brain!!!"
With a whoosh, a flash of white light, and Vincent vanished.
The scene was a mess, and Michiko immediately checked the star chart.
"Earth's time is normal, the time controller didn't activate, we succeeded, we defeated Vincent!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Vera suddenly coughed up blood.
Michiko snapped out of her daze and immediately said to Adam Hammer, "Her consciousness can't support the new body. Quickly carry her to the medical bed. I need to reintegrate her consciousness into her original body!"
Chapter 190 Time's Counterattack
In the time tunnel, Vincent is moving rapidly across the time scale.
"What the hell is going on?!" V shouted.
“Don’t you understand?” Vincent replied, “Just as traveling through space causes frost, traveling through time also causes a unique time loop phenomenon. All people and worlds that have traveled through time will be trapped in this loop, unable to break free, completely unaware, and can only repeat it over and over again, like insects caught in a spider’s web, never able to escape!”
V was taken aback: "Are you serious?"
Vincent gave a wry smile: "Why would I lie to you at a time like this?"
"So you collect monopolistic knowledge for..."
"I hope to find a way to break the cycle from all kinds of knowledge, and also to press the pause button on technological progress to avoid expanding the cycle."
"So your ultimate plan is to destroy the entire solar system, you actually want to..."
“Break the loop!” Vincent gritted his teeth and said, “The time loop is a very precise system, like an interlocking chain. Under normal circumstances, the chain will rotate perfectly, but once one link is missing, the entire chain will instantly fall apart and scatter.”
V was very surprised: "You plan to destroy your world to liberate other worlds?"
"Yes."
"But since we're on the same chain, how can you guarantee that our world will continue to exist once the chain breaks?"
“I can’t guarantee anything, but this is the only way I can do it. In the cycle of time, everything is predetermined. Wars that are destined to break out will always break out, plagues that are destined to appear will always appear, the rich and ruthless will always live to a ripe old age, the kind and gentle will always die tragically, tragedies will always happen, and beauty will never come. Foolish people who are born into good families can achieve great success, while intelligent people born into poverty will never have a chance to rise above their circumstances… Can you tolerate such a world? I certainly can’t! Heaven knows how many times we have cycled through such a world, maybe once, ten times, or even billions or trillions of times. So I’ve decided to stop enduring it, even if it means destroying myself, I will break this cycle!”
V was speechless and deeply moved. Vincent's actions seemed barbaric, but weren't they also a different kind of "using my broken body to become a raging fire"?
“How did you find out all this?” V asked.
“DNA.” Vincent sighed. “I checked V’s DNA from my world, and guess what? His DNA is exactly the same as mine.”
"So you didn't actually use V's DNA to modify yourself, but instead..."
"That's right, I am V, the V from my world. We have been the same person from the very beginning. I was born in V's calendar year 2050, then returned to 2077 AD to overthrow the company's rule and establish the Human Federation. Then I disappeared in a time experiment, and then a new me was born again in V's calendar year 2050, and so on."
V was shocked: "Why did you go back to 2077 AD?"
Vincent retorted angrily, "Of course it's because you defeated me!"
V was a little embarrassed and argued, "If you had told me earlier, none of this would have happened."
Vincent scoffed, "Even if I explained things to you, you wouldn't believe me, given your level of intelligence."
V was even more embarrassed, because Vincent was absolutely right. If she hadn't seen it with her own eyes, she wouldn't have believed such an outrageous theory as time loops.
After a brief silence, V spoke again: "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."
“There is no wrongdoing,” Vincent said. “Michiko Arasaka was forced to give up her body under my pressure, and Selene Martinez also died at my hands. In the end, I have messed up the world and dragged many innocent people into it. I am the Great Demon King, so it is not surprising that they hate me.”
"How did V in your world overthrow the company?" V suddenly asked.
"He united the wanderers, established a stronghold in the badlands, and surrounded the city from the wasteland according to Xu Ling's tactics. After eight years of fighting, he finally crushed the company's hegemony."
“That must have been a great war!” V said. “I wasn’t as dramatic as you. I was just a corporate dog, so I dismantled the company from within. First, I took over Arasaka, then expanded my power, growing stronger little by little, and finally rose above all other companies, creating a completely new system and ushering in a new era.”
Vincent nodded: "It's better than my method. The war I started resulted in a lot of deaths."
“Quite a few people have died because of my actions,” V continued. “Want to know how Vera did it?”
"How did you do it?"
"She came from the streets..."
"So she contacted a gang?"
"No, she rushed up Arasaka Tower alone."
Vincent was slightly surprised: "What, she doesn't even have a single friend?"
"No, it's precisely because she has many friends that she chose to go to the Arasaka Tower alone."
Vincent understood instantly: "She doesn't want to drag her friends into this, right?"
"That's right, street kids are the most loyal."
"It's something someone with an intelligence level of 3 would do."
Don't you believe me?
“It doesn’t matter whether you believe it or not.” Vincent looked out of the time tunnel: “I’m about to experience V’s story firsthand and become friends with Vera.”
V understood this sentence; Vincent in V's 2077 calendar will eventually become V in the year 2077.
“Remember this, Vincent. What I’m saying is that even if Vera stormed the Arasaka Tower alone, many people would still die because of her actions. At least all the Arasaka employees died at her hands.”
Vincent was taken aback: "You mean to say that my actions were understandable, and I'm not really the Great Demon King?"
"No, you've done so many bad things, of course you're the Great Demon King!"
Vincent: "..."
V continued, "But you are also a great demon king worthy of respect."
Vincent: "...Thanks."
"You're welcome."
The time tunnel suddenly began to shake. Vincent took a deep breath: "I'm going to face my destiny. It's time to say goodbye."
