Hell Game: Starting from Metropolis

"Alright, I'll untie the ropes for you now."
"That's what Player #3 said."
He was talking while twisting his body.
His joints kept making strange noises, and his body shape changed accordingly.
Player 3 managed to break free of the rope that had been tightly binding him, freeing one of his hands.
Then, as if by magic, he quickly waved his hand, and a small knife appeared in his hand.
This knife is only the size of a little finger. Even if you manage to stab someone in a vital spot, it's unlikely to kill them. However, if used as a tool, it can still be very effective.
"Wait a moment."
Liu shouted before he could make a move.
"what happened?"
"Player #3 asked."
“I have an idea. Could you keep the rope as intact as possible, but also break it so that we can break free in an instant?”
He said.
"Well, you can try it."
As expected of a pro player, player number 3 immediately understood what he meant.
He stared at the ropes binding Liu Zheng for a while, then used a knife to make several cuts at key points on the ropes.
In this way, the rope can still maintain the bound position, but it can also be easily broken free.
After dealing with Liu Zheng, he used the same method to deal with Player 1 and Player 4, and finally got rid of the rope binding him.
After this ordeal, Player 3 was exhausted and panting heavily.
Given the average physical condition of residents in a metropolis, this level of activity is certainly not necessary.
It seems that even though there is no stamina attribute in the character card, the player's stamina is still linked to the character itself.
Since everyone decided to wait and see how things went, they began to introduce themselves.
Of course, the main purpose was to introduce him to Liu Zheng.
"My profession is a thief, with a primary focus on agility and a secondary focus on strength. My main role is to provide support and secondary damage output in the team."
"That's what Player #3 said."
"My profession is a pharmacist, with a primary focus on intelligence and a secondary focus on charm. My main responsibilities are healing and negotiation within the team."
Player number 4 chimed in.
"My class is a warrior, I mainly focus on strength and secondarily on agility, and my main responsibilities are as a tank and damage dealer in the team."
"That's what Player #1 said."
"I don't think I need to introduce myself, do I?"
Liu Zheng shrugged.
"No need, we know your character cards better than you do."
"That's what Player #3 said."
"Alright. But if that's the case, then the Book of Black should be taken by Player 4."
He said.
"Who can argue with that? But Player 2 was so into his role, and his character was so impulsive. Before we could even react, his hand was already on top of us."
Player #4 said with a hint of resentment.
It's one thing for Player #2 to choose the Reckless personality, but they also chose both Strength and Speed as A-rank attributes and skills.
Even if they hadn't realized what was happening, they still wouldn't have been able to stop him unless they simply killed him.
However, without such a main damage dealer, the team can no longer clear the level.
"Do we have to act according to the character's personality?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"No, that's not necessary. However, the more your words and actions match your role, the higher your evaluation will be from the host. If you take actions that match your role at crucial moments, you may even gain potential points."
Player #3 replied.
"Potential points?"
"You can think of it as an official cheat device that can be used to do many things. Of course, its biggest use is to re-roll the dice."
"That's what Player #3 said."
"understood."
He nodded.
If it can re-roll the dice, then it's definitely a cheat device.
After all, tabletop role-playing games are also known as dice simulators. No matter how successful your role-playing is, how brilliant your reasoning skills are, or how reasonable your team's division of labor is, you can't beat the dice girl when she's going to mess with you.
In his experience with role-playing games, he had frequently witnessed situations where a major failure would result in the entire team being wiped out.
"How do I know if I have potential?"
Liu Zheng asked.
"You can ask the host directly."
Player #4 replied.
"Host, how much potential do I have?"
he asked.
"Player 2, you currently have 1 potential point."
The voice of the female divers rang out.
"Didn't they say that the original Player 2 was really into role-playing? How come he only has 1 potential point?"
Liu Zheng asked, puzzled.
"Because he was so immersed in his role-playing, he recklessly used up all his potential points."
Player 3 said coldly.
You could tell he harbored a lot of resentment towards the original player number 2.
"Haha, that's true, he died a worthy death."
Liu Zheng suspected that player number 2 wasn't just role-playing; he might have actually died by recklessness in real life.
Just as Player 3 was about to speak, a ray of light shone into the cabin; it turned out that the partition leading to the upper deck had been opened.
"Go down."
With a rude sound, a ragged child was thrown overboard.
"it hurts!"
The child shouted.
"Shut up, or I'll throw you into the sea to feed the sharks."
A pirate climbed down the ladder and threatened the child.
The child dared not cry out in pain any longer and pitifully shut his mouth.
The pirate dragged the child to a corner near the stairs and then walked towards the four players.
As soon as they saw him approaching, the players were all prepared to launch a sudden attack.
"Captain, may I ask your name?"
Liu Zheng suddenly spoke up.
"You little brat, are you mocking me? I'm no fucking captain."
The pirate glared at him.
"With your character and temperament, becoming a captain is only a matter of time. If someone like you can't become a captain, then the pirate profession will be finished sooner or later."
He said with a broad smile.
"Oh? Have you heard of me?"
The pirate asked, seemingly skeptical.
“I come from a small place and have never had the chance to hear about your great achievements. But I have heard a story about a great pirate, and the pirate captain in that story looks exactly like you.”
Liu Zheng said.
"Then tell me. If you can't answer or you're making it up, I'll cut off your ear and use it as a snack with my drink."
The pirate drew his scimitar and said fiercely.
"No problem, please go ahead. Speaking of which, during Queen Anne's reign, there was a pirate captain who roamed the Caribbean Sea named Jack Sparrow, and his ship was called the Black Pearl."
He briefly and concisely recounted the plot of the first Pirates of the Caribbean film.
For a time, he really liked this series and watched it more than ten times. He knew the characters' dialogues by heart and could even imitate their tone and expressions perfectly.
The plot of Pirates of the Caribbean is very interesting. After listening to this, not only was the pirate stunned, but the other players were also engrossed.
"Finally, Captain Jack defeated the pirate Barbossa and reclaimed his beloved ship, the Black Pearl, but his legendary voyage had only just begun. Ahem."
Liu Zheng coughed twice on purpose.
"Go on, keep going."
The pirate brandished his scimitar and urged them on.
"I don't remember the rest."
He shook his head.
"What?! Are you kidding me?"
The pirate roared in fury.
Life at sea is boring enough, and to finally hear such an interesting story only to have it cut off right at the exciting part is like a sheep being dragged away and killed by the cook right after it has taken off its pants.
“I’m just a prisoner, how could I dare to play tricks on you? It’s been so long, and I’m still terrified, I’ve forgotten everything. Give me some time, and I’m sure I can remember.”
Liu Zheng pretended to be scared and said.
"Oh, so you were waiting for me here."
The pirates weren't stupid; they immediately understood his subtext.
"You think you can get me to release you with just one story? No way. Unless you pay to buy your freedom."
He rolled his eyes and said.
"If I had money, would I need to be an adventurer?"
Liu Zheng smiled wryly.
"Then you'd better stay put. You'd better remember before I come next time, or I'll make you suffer."
The pirate sneered.
"Captain, you don't need to come down here yourself. Just let me see the sea, and I should be able to remember."
he said with a smile.
"What do you mean?"
"I asked the pirate."
“I have longed for the sea since I was a child, especially for becoming a free pirate. It’s just that my hometown is too far from the sea, so I can only be an adventurer. Now I have the opportunity to board a pirate ship and meet a leader as magnanimous as you. This is truly a blessing from the sea.”
"Therefore, I want to become your subordinate and a glorious pirate."
Liu Zheng said with a serious expression.
"Are you telling the truth?"
