Conan Rick's Investigator

After returning to Zhibo Law Firm, Qin Zhibo felt a little empty inside for a moment.
Sherlock Holmes' journey, originally scheduled for three days and three nights, ended after only one day and two nights. How should he spend the remaining time?
Qin Zhibo remembered that Fujisawa Toshiaki said that "The Study of Green Letters" was plagiarized by the hotel owner from a man named Neil Moonlight.
Out of curiosity, Qin Zhibo opened his computer and started searching.
There were no online encyclopedias in 96, but Qin Zhibo found relevant pages on a knowledge website called "Noah's Ark".
Neil Moonlight - a 19th-century figure, whose birth and death years are unknown, a mysterious travel biographer.
He published a large number of travel biographies throughout his life, but most of them did not cause any response. These articles were published in third-rate newspapers and earned him meager royalties.
Most of his articles have been lost, but his "A Study in Green Letters" written in early 1888 caused a strong social response in British society at that time, and has been passed down to this day.
At that time, less than three months after the release of "A Study in Scarlet", the famous work that started the legend of Sherlock Holmes, Neil Moonlight published "A Study in Green" in the newspaper.
"A Study in Green" boldly reverses the identities of Sherlock Holmes and a character named Moriarty.
In this novel, Holmes becomes the murderer of the case.
A professor named Moriarty is the detective who tracks him down, and a man named Moran beside him performs the duties of Dr. Watson in the original work and records the case in a book.
In the original work, Holmes's study of the scarlet letter became Moriarty's study of the green letter.
More importantly, the novel implies that Queen Victoria, who ruled Britain, was a gigantic, inhuman tentacle monster hidden in the darkness.
In the Victorian era when Britain was known as the "Empire on which the Sun Never Sets", this statement made the novel considered a "heretical work" and it received widespread criticism.
Even Conan Doyle, the original author of the Sherlock Holmes series, said: Adaptation is not random editing, and such works are an insult to his works and even to himself.
Amidst numerous criticisms, only the University of Bristol in the UK publicly expressed its support for the article "The Study of Green Letters".
The University of Bristol's view is that "A Study in Green" presents another worldview in an otherwise ordinary detective story, hinting at the real world and is a groundbreaking work that breaks down the barriers of public knowledge.
"This is a huge shock to the general worldview. It seems absurd and unbelievable, but it is absolutely true..."
A professor at the University of Bristol commented this.
……
This was not the first time Qin Zhibo had heard the name University of Bristol.
The name of this university appeared in the information collected by Terai Huangzhisuke last time at the Blue Parrot Bar.
The University of Bristol Planetarium publicly announced the existence of "Great Halley's Comet" and prepared to hold a heated debate with Miskatonic University in the United States.
However, before the debate even began, the Miskatonic University debate team was bombed in the hotel where they were staying, and all members were killed.
If I remember correctly, the year was also 1888.
From the perspectives of openly stating the existence of the "Great Halley's Comet" and openly supporting the alternative worldview presented in "The Study of Green Letters", the University of Bristol is definitely a "clear stream" in the academic community.
What kind of university is this?
Qin Zhibo opened a new webpage, entered the University of Bristol into the search bar, and easily found the relevant page.
The University of Brychester is located in the town of Brychester, England. It is a world-renowned university and its academic level is second only to the old and famous universities in the UK, Oxford University and Cambridge University.
It’s just that the University of Bristol often publishes some shocking research conclusions, which arouse strong discussion and opposition in the academic community.
In addition to the "Great Halley's Comet," the University of Bristol has publicly stated that the "green rot" disease prevalent near the Severn Valley is related to local beliefs...
There is also a city in the South Pacific that sank underwater in ancient times. When the Great Halley's Comet returns, this city will surface...
In short, the University of Bristol often publishes such academic research results, but it still does not affect its academic ranking worldwide.
Qin Zhibo briefly learned about the situation of the university and then returned to the "Noah's Ark" website.
……
Although "A Study in Green" was criticized from all sides after its release, the most amazing thing is that in "The Final Case" published in 1893, Conan Doyle introduced the character of "Professor James Moriarty" into his own work for the first time.
James Moriarty is known as the "Napoleon of Crime" and is a criminal genius with an extremely high IQ.
He established a huge criminal empire in London and spread his underworld network like a spider across Europe. Almost all the cases in London were related to him, and he destroyed all the evidence every time he committed a crime.
This character had never appeared in Conan Doyle's previous works. The only time he appeared was in the Holmes fan work "A Study in Green", published in 1888, where he served as an enemy who tracked Holmes.
It can be said that Professor Moriarty is a character completely created by Holmes' fan works, but the original work of Holmes introduced this character back.
Conan Doyle created a Sherlock Holmes fanfiction...
In addition, Conan Doyle wrote that Holmes and Moriarty died together in "The Final Case", which caused a huge response in society.
The original author actually let the characters in the fan work kill the characters he created!
Someone asked if this was a compromise with A Study in Green from a few years earlier, and Conan Doyle replied:
"I was young and ignorant once, but now I am wise..."
In fact, in his later years, Conan Doyle was a staunch spiritualist who accepted various idealist factions and viewpoints and believed that the soul could continue to exist after death.
Not only that, Conan Doyle also publicly supported ghost photography research at the University of Blythe.
Conan Doyle even ended his friendship with the world-famous escape magician Harry Houdini when he publicly derided ghost photography as ridiculous.
A famous mystery writer whose writing style is characterized by "scientific and professional" turned out to be a spiritualist who believed in ghosts in his later years.
All these changes started with "A Study in Green" written by Neil Moonlight...
Chapter 294 Qin Zhibo Wants to Write a Novel
So much for the history of A Study in Green.
Since this book was published in England almost a century ago and few people know about it in Japan, the innkeeper plagiarized the article and published it at his own expense.
The result was a fatal disaster. This shows that not only is the content of this article full of weirdness and evil, but even the article itself is ominous...
Before exiting the search page, Qin Zhibo learned a little more about the Noah's Ark website.
This knowledge website collects and organizes various knowledge on the Internet, and updates tens of thousands of knowledge entries every day.
In this era when online encyclopedias have not yet appeared, this website is very practical.
Hey~
Qin Zhibo silently added the Noah's Ark website to his favorites
If you have the chance, you can contact the person who created this website and ask him if he needs angel investment.
With the vision to predict the future, Qin Zhibo felt that this would be a very profitable project.
I, Qin Zhibo, invested in this project!
……
Three more days passed quietly.
During these three days, Qin Zhibo wrote a novel in his spare time every day.
The idea of writing a novel came to me when I was influenced by the publication of "A Study in Green Letters" by the innkeeper.
Who doesn’t love a great writer?
In fact, writing a novel comes down to two things: "what to write?" and "how to write it?"
The first thing is what to write.
Generally, when people travel to another world, they will choose to copy best-selling books from later generations or parallel worlds.
But Qin Zhibo did a quick check and found out that it was 96 and some of the classic works that were passed down by the world had already been published, so it was not his turn to plagiarize them.
Moreover, if you want to plagiarize, you have to consider market factors. It is impossible to copy everything casually.
Qin Zhibo thought about it for a long time and felt that the books of Japanese mystery writer Keigo Higashino were very worthy of plagiarism.
First of all, detective works are very popular in this world. Secondly, Keigo Higashino is a Japanese writer, and his novels are more suitable to be published in Japan.
Although Keigo Higashino had already made his debut with "After School", which won the Edogawa Ranpo Award, he was not very famous at this time, and was far behind the world-class best-selling mystery writer Yusaku Kudo.
If I copied Keigo Higashino's famous work "The Devotion of Suspect X" and changed it into "The Devotion of Suspect Y", wouldn't that be...
Qin Zhibo gave up on this plan after just a moment's thought.
Because Qin Zhibo's system is not related to plagiarism, there is no USB flash drive in his brain. In addition, he did not read much in his previous life, so he has almost forgotten the relevant plot.
Take "The Devotion of Suspect X" for example. Qin Zhibo only remembers that a highly intelligent neighbor took the blame for the real murderer.
Qin Zhibo had long forgotten the details of how to bear the blame...
There is also "White Night Walk", Qin Zhibo only remembers that it is a story about childhood sweethearts conspiring to commit a crime.
This is the residual impression of some complicated story plots in the normal people's brain.
Detective novels are basically of this nature. It is impossible to remember all the details clearly, and the final product can only be a hodgepodge.
In this case, it would be better for me to conceive some new novels myself. Not only would I feel a greater sense of accomplishment, but I wouldn't have to worry about the original author coming to me and creating more murder news for this sinister town of Mihua.
The two research manuscripts read in the Blue Castle gave Qin Zhibo some inspiration.
Both of these research manuscripts tell some horrific investigative stories. The storytelling is good, but if they were a little more refined...
So Qin Zhibo first contacted the current heirs of the Blue Castle, Mitsuru Mamiya and Takahito Mamiya.
Ever since old lady Mamiya was confirmed dead, the Blue Castle fell completely into the hands of the two.
Qin Zhibo easily obtained the rights to adapt the stories of his father and grandfather's manuscripts from Takahito Mamiya.
After solving the problem of "what to write", the next step is how to write it.
Qin Zhibo's current art and craft (writing) level is level 3. If the maximum level is 10, it doesn't seem very good.
However, once you have these professional skills, even if they are only level 1, they are the minimum level to engage in the profession.
In other words, Qin Zhibo has now reached the level of a professional author in terms of conception, writing style and grammar.
Therefore, after pondering over the copy of the research manuscript for a long time, Qin Zhibo decided to use the first person to create this type of story.
Compared with the third person, the first person perspective displays relatively narrow content and is more prone to information asymmetry, but the first person perspective provides the strongest sense of immersion.
The content of these research manuscripts also progresses from the simple to the complex, without fear of incomplete information presentation. Instead, exploring and investigating the truth step by step is the characteristic of this type of story.
Add to that the unparalleled immersion of first-person, and it's a match made in heaven.
Of the two research manuscripts, Qin Zhibo chose Mr. Mamiya's "Record of Antarctic Expedition" for his creation.
The reason is simple. The story has a clear plot line, making it relatively easy to write an authentic adventure story.
The story of Sadaaki Mamiya's "Dream Investigation" is relatively blank. Although he investigated the dreams of many people, Sadaaki Mamiya himself still couldn't figure out what Cthulhu meant.
Therefore, Qin Zhibo planned to wait until he could investigate the meaning of Cthulhu before writing this novel.
For the title of his work, Qin Zhibo certainly couldn't use a title like "XXX's Research Manuscript - Antarctic Expedition Record", which has no impact at all and looks like an academic paper.
Since the entire story takes place in a black mountain range in Antarctica, witnessing all the madness, the title of the book is...
At the Mountains of Madness!
……
In this way, Qin Zhibo spent three days to write "Mountains of Madness".
In order to make some differences from the content of the original research manuscript and arrange more information reasonably, Qin Zhibo chose Professor Dale, the then head of the Miskatonic expedition, as the first-person protagonist.
Telling the stories from preparing for the Antarctic expedition to the adventure into Antarctica from the perspective of someone who has experienced it can create a stronger sense of reality.
After the story of "Mountains of Madness" was completed, Qin Zhibo contacted Shinna Kaori and asked her to help contact the publishing house that he had visited when investigating the disappearance of Shinna Rentaro.
Now Shinna Xiang Baoli is still using his father's name to create "The Peak of Half". The publishing house naturally dares not neglect the people introduced by this golden signboard, and Qin Zhibo is also a celebrity.
"Hello, I'm Masao Iwata, the editor-in-chief of this publishing house."
When a celebrity publishes a book and is introduced by an acquaintance, the editor-in-chief of the publishing house will personally entertain him.
Chapter 295: First Submission of "At the Mountains of Madness"
After a brief commercial exchange, Qin Zhibo handed the manuscript of the novel "Crazy Mountains" to the editor-in-chief Masao Iwata.
Masao Iwata took the manuscript of the novel with both hands, and when he saw the title of the book on it, he frowned without any concealment.
