Void Beetle Evolution Guide

But Wild Hunt could clearly sense that the energy level of this lump of rotten flesh in front of him had not reached that near-godlike level. If he had to use an example... if the Watcher was likened to an Ascended Being, then this thing was the product of a failed Ascended Being, those mad creatures that the ancient Shurima called Bakkai.
The Wild Hunt sensed its pain... It might be a watcher whose consciousness had not yet fully awakened or had failed to awaken, a miscarried embryonic form that was forced to give birth prematurely under the catalysis of pain, leaving the metamorphic womb that nurtured and contained it, and was thrown here into becoming a monstrous creature.
Why would a watcher abandon a brethren in the womb? Perhaps they simply want a vessel to transfer their own pain, or perhaps, after being betrayed by Pierre, they no longer trust newborns born under the influence of existence?
Chapter 668 Void Deformity
"We need to be careful, this guy has divine potential," Wild Hunt warned.
There's no need to elaborate on what divinity is; even someone hearing about it for the first time can sense its power through the power of words.
And this is something even he doesn't have.
His true form was merely a parasitic monster, one of the low-level creatures spewed from the void. This inferior origin limited his evolution, preventing him from making any significant progress for a long time, and his power growth had stagnated for quite some time.
If he could fix this biggest flaw here, then he would have no more obvious weaknesses. Perhaps in the future he would be able to act freely without a host, and he might even be able to fight against Empress Bervis, or at least resist her absolute commands.
Of the group, Kasha was the most perceptive to sense the suppressed greed emanating from the Wild Hunt's warning. She knew that what lay before her was an opportunity she absolutely could not miss, an object she had to devour.
As the Wild Hunt's primary host, his most loyal knight, and his invincible sword, Kasha stated unequivocally, "This monster's body covers the regeneration pool, blocking our path between us and the rift. Today, it must die!"
"It seems to be still asleep and hasn't noticed our arrival," Nami said.
"You know what you're trying to say, but void creatures don't even have brains. They're driven by hunger from birth, and there's no possibility of reconciliation between us and them. Besides, we can't seal the regeneration pool unless we eliminate it first." (The last part, "你咏在在有你空你林在在没呢," is a nonsensical string of characters and doesn't translate directly.)
Kasha made it very clear that there was no other way to deal with this enormous embryo than to destroy it. Even if it weren't for the Wild Hunt's divine status, she wouldn't have let this thing go.
"Who will be the first to make a move? Ideally, they should be able to cripple it with a single blow."
Everyone looked at Syndra. Her magic was incredibly powerful, and the foundation of her sorcery contained terrifying destructive power, making her the best candidate to deliver the final blow.
"If I do the work, don't complain if something goes wrong." Syndra also started stacking armor in advance, her words carrying a veiled reference to someone.
“No one will say anything to you. But don’t rush, we don’t know where its core is yet. If we can’t hit the vital point, even the strongest attack is meaningless.” Through her Void Vision, Kai’Sa carefully stared at the huge placenta below. Flowing light shone on its own in the blood vessels, and they all had the same starting point. “Aim there and attack.”
"Hmph." Syndra snorted coldly, her tone disapproving of the command. She looked around; the low ceiling made it unsuitable for her to summon her witch avatar.
Since her own abilities weren't very effective here, she had no choice but to activate the World Rune again. Syndra quickly sifted through the Library of All Laws in her mind, eliminating forbidden magic such as Doomsday Meteor, and finally settled on a forbidden spell that could be cast in this environment.
She had always wanted to try these forbidden spells, but each time someone would stop her, telling her not to abuse the power of the runes and damage the environment, and that they should not be used except in emergencies.
Syndra's scattered thoughts gradually focused on the runes before her. She grasped the power of destruction, and a lightning spear appeared out of thin air in her hand.
The instant it appeared, a silent stillness silenced all sound. A deathly stillness descended, as if the entire world had been muted, with only the deafening roar of thunder remaining.
At this moment, Syndra was like the calm eye of a storm, with dazzling lightning flashing in her eyes. Her majestic gaze pierced through the surging undercurrents, looking down with disdain at the rotting, mutated mass of flesh below.
Her status seemed to have become extremely high. Everyone watched her every move, but in an instant, their gaze was drawn extremely far away, as if they were looking up at this god-like being across an entire sky.
Kaisa tried to make a sound, but her voice was cruelly taken away. How similar this scene was to when Xiong Ling appeared.
The escalating thunder finally awakened the monster below, which suddenly opened its tightly closed eyes, startling even Kai'Sa.
Those weren't the hollow, purple, detail-less eyes of low-level void creatures, nor were they bulging, single eyes crackling with lightning; instead, they were clear, black-and-white eyes, similar to human eyes.
But the thing was huge and deformed, with several iridescent pupils clustered together like frog eggs, encroaching on each other. There were four or five such eyes in total, of varying sizes, distributed in different areas of the body.
"Ugh—" The intense visual pollution shocked the group, and the high-frequency buzzing in their ears caused them to clutch their heads in pain. This was an invisible attack that even their armor couldn't shield them from; the pollution was slowly spreading across their bodies, and black veins were appearing below their eyes.
Syndra's pupils contracted sharply as she met the Void Embryo's gaze. She gripped the lightning spear tightly in her hand, and the lightning surged, the crackling arcs constantly expanding and shifting, radiating a terrifying aura of destruction, as if proclaiming its power to the filth below.
Its manifestation of lightning was as dazzling as a newborn star, with the lightning extending without limit, the forked and winding arcs of electricity covering the entire cavern like a spider web. As Syndra raised her spear high, the forked lightning converged into a massive lightning spear, accompanied by a deafening crackling sound, and pierced the deformed creature below.
But just before she was about to throw the lightning spear, the deformed creature's eyes all rolled, and an invisible force pierced her brain, pulling at her mind and forcing her to change her mind at the last moment.
A strange resentment arose out of nowhere, and Syndra's lightning spear veered off course, ultimately failing to pierce the area Kai'Sa had initially pointed to, but instead pinning down one of the hateful eyes.
The surging electric current spread through the body and surface of the giant tumor like a tsunami with dragons and snakes dancing together, turning its flesh and blood into a bright orange-red color, as if it might explode at any moment.
"How could you insert it crookedly?" The electric current disrupted the invisible mental pollution. Seeing that Syndra's attack had missed its vital point, Kai'Sa immediately questioned her angrily, as if her trust had been betrayed.
"Isn't this annoying? Don't ask me, I don't know! I just did it!" Syndra waved her hand irritably, and an invisible force field immediately pushed away the approaching Kai'Sa. Just being asked this question gave her a splitting headache.
Seeing Syndra's strange expression, Kai'Sa instantly realized that Syndra might also be affected, and suppressed her anger, deciding not to pursue the matter further. "Fine, at least your lightning spear pinned it down."
After pinning the deformed fetus, the lightning spear did not dissipate but instead released wave after wave of lightning, causing the massive mass of flesh to convulse and become paralyzed, unable to mount any effective resistance for the time being. This reminded her of the Watcher sealed in the Howling Abyss, which had also been impaled there by Lissandra with nine enormous ice maces.
Kaisa shook her head, banishing irrelevant thoughts and focusing on the battle at hand.
"Let's get started, sisters."
Chapter 669 Fierce Attack
Syndra projected an electric spear into one of the Void Freak's eyes, pinning it to the bottom of the abyss as if on eternal guard, the ever-evolving tides of electricity suppressing this blasphemous tumor.
The penetrating electric current burned its flesh to a translucent orange-red, emitting a near-destructive light from within, as if it might explode at any moment, but it was always just a little short.
Kai'Sa decided to break this threshold herself. With her armor possessing considerable electrical resistance, she charged forward, her pods spewing focused flames that propelled her like a purple meteor as she plummeted onto the giant placenta below.
She aimed for the area suspected to be the core, and with a high-speed thrust, her fist and toes landed simultaneously. The surging liquid energy enveloped her fist, and the relentless bombardment focused on a single point. The explosive impact caused the flesh to instantly cave in.
Centered on Kaisa's landing point, a wave of flesh spread out, continuing until it reached an unavoidable edge before exploding with a deafening roar. The flesh was torn apart, releasing the impact along with the scalding hot spray, further churning the seawater.
Then Kai'Sa felt a tension rising from beneath her feet, like a tide, smoothing out the dents and wrinkles, and like a trampoline suddenly launching Kai'Sa back.
Kaisa steadied herself using the shoulder pods, staring at the monster below with a grim expression.
She had intended to pierce the monster's heart with one blow, or at least make an opening. However, she hadn't expected the thing to be so resilient. Her attack not only failed to break its skin, but it also absorbed the impact and bounced her back.
"You can't bounce this off, can you?" Kasha leaned down as if she were starting a race, but in reality, she aimed the pod at the core of the deformed fetus.
The honeycomb-shaped magazines converge to form a pair of cannon barrels with infinite depth, capturing all the surrounding light. Random electrical currents swirl around the barrels, their ever-increasing speed seemingly stretching and flattening three-dimensional space, while a powerful magnetic field continuously injects kinetic and electrical energy into the plasma cannon.
While Kai'Sa was continuously gathering power, the Void Deformity did not sit idly by. It pulled out tentacles several miles long from beneath its body, their iridescent glow attracting attention. Then, its head suddenly split open, unleashing a "mouth" from which countless trembling teeth formed a screaming sphere. Together with the iridescent tentacles, it corrupted everyone's senses, creating blasphemous illusions in their minds, and simultaneously summoning all the nearby tentacle monsters.
The electric current released by the Eternal Thunder Spear suppressed the mental pollution to some extent, and everyone took countermeasures.
Wild Hunt dragged his entire fleet, which he had nurtured to this day, out of the Zerg hive. Dozens of hive queens poured out, making the already cramped underwater cavern even more crowded.
The belly of these giant whales, with their exposed fangs and several tentacles at the tail, glowed with countless tiny lights. The disordered yet dense arrangement was enough to instill fear in the lower classes. If they knew that these were all cruising remoras hanging on the surface of the nesting mother, it might break the previous influence and cause complete panic.
A single Nesting Mother can carry tens of thousands of remoras, and dozens of Nesting Mothers would create a terrifying swarm of fish numbering in the tens of thousands. This living black storm could devour an entire city in a single day. The Wild Hunt of these remoras is far stronger than the swarm that hunted Kai'Sa in the Shurima underground caverns. They can spew plasma from their mouths to attack enemies and hold their own against these tentacle monsters.
At this moment, they were all released by the Wild Hunt to meet the impending beast tide. The moment the two black clouds clashed, a dense barrage of biting sounds erupted. The fish, using their carapaces, chased after the tentacles, tearing and devouring them, only to be strangled and ripped apart themselves. The battle was incredibly fierce; flashes of light from explosions frequently illuminated the edges of their vision, constantly jarring their eardrums and shaking their eyes. [The last two lines appear to be unrelated and possibly machine-generated text.]
The great battle has begun, and the Nest Mother continues to produce special units without pause. Countless egg cases are expelled from their reproductive cavities, landing on the deformed placenta below and absorbing its flesh and blood to accelerate hatching.
Soon, a pale creature broke out of its egg case after absorbing enough energy, leaving behind clumps of mucus and dragging its segmented limbs.
Although they were only newly born, they already possessed the rudiments of predators. A sharp tail gradually unfolded behind them, along with jet-black fangs and a prominent back, with a pale purple light emanating from the heart. Soft exoskeletons enveloped and protected the heart, then began to harden, transforming into a chitinous carapace with distinct edges, segmented like an insect with spines.
Its color is pale and dull, but its outer skin hardens rapidly, seemingly in response to the cold seawater.
Then its eyes snapped open, observing the world that had just given birth to it—twelve pinhole-like eyes radiating a warm purple light, gathered in three different locations. Then, with a clear objective, it swiftly dug into the flesh beneath it.
These creatures are parasites specifically hatched by the Wild Hunt to combat Void Aberrations. They also possess extremely high electrical resistance, allowing them to ignore the aftershocks of the Eternal Spear and continuously dig into flesh. Their sharp limbs can slice through flesh like knives, digging deep along blood vessels into the most energy-rich areas, laying eggs along the way.
The moment these parasites invaded its body, the Void Deformity's death was inevitable; the only question was how long it could hold out. But the Wild Hunt would never slow its relentless attack; who knew how many hidden cards this thing held?
He summoned a demonic claw, from which a swollen, bulging, malevolent single eye emerged from a crack in its massive palm. Its gaze flickered eerily, and from its chilling pupil shot equally terrifying life-form-disintegrating rays. It devoured the surrounding light, and the world dimmed in an instant.
At the same time, Kai'Sa completed her preparations, compressing all her heat into her pod, transforming it into two plasma cannons radiating a ghastly purple light. These cannons burst forth and spiraled forward, piercing the core of the Void Abnormality along with the Wild Hunt's disintegrating rays.
A flash of light illuminated the deep sea abyss, the scorching explosion evaporated the surrounding seawater, and melted a large hole in the ugly placenta. Boiling heat waves surged forth, and the powerful impact sent everything around it tumbling and tilting.
The next second, the pressure of the deep sea forced the seawater back in, and the battlefield was completely chaotic. Kaisa finally managed to steady herself and looked at the mangled, bloody wound on the deformed fetus.
However, there was no heart-like structure there, only countless thick blood vessels, deeply rooted in that regeneration pool that connected to the endless void.
Chapter 670 An Enemy Without Weaknesses
"This is—" Kaisa was stunned by the sight before her. "A regeneration pool... Could it be that this thing doesn't have a core at all, and is just relying on the regeneration pool to sustain this enormous flesh and blood body?"
"That means it has almost no weaknesses." Wild Hunt gasped.
The regeneration pool isn't something you can just fill by throwing a few stones into it. It contains endless void energy, and anything that tries to obstruct its operation will be annihilated the moment it's thrown in.
This is why the Wild Hunt waited for Diana to arrive before coming down; she understood the principles of Stonehenge, which was the most likely way to shut down the regeneration pool, and if that didn't work, they could try using runes.
But all of that was based on the premise of no disturbance. Now that the monster has taken over the regeneration pool as its core, providing itself with a continuous source of energy, it is also desperately protecting the regeneration pool, which has made the situation extremely troublesome.
Their combined attack failed, and it was destined to be a protracted battle.
The eyes on the deformed fetus cast a gaze of pain and hatred, while its tentacles stirred the regeneration pool, drawing upon its inexhaustible liquid energy.
Countless soulless black pupils materialized out of thin air, peering upwards from the shimmering, malevolent abyss. The vortex of dissolution and regeneration within the pool was perpetual, churning with surging, boundless energy that occasionally took on grotesque forms. You chant, I think, empty, you forest, are you there...?
The spiral of matter forms nauseating shapes, hunched spines stretch and flatten, insatiable limbs straighten and elongate, hooked claws take shape from a liquid sea of madness, and frenzied evolution weaves into translucent monsters, bestowing upon them sharp, piercing cries of newborns.
With the surface of the regeneration pool as the boundary, there was nothing below the pure energy liquid, but on the surface, as if there was a fault, half of the monster's limb appeared out of nowhere, dragging itself out with its hooked forelimbs.
It's like a bubble appearing out of thin air. As long as you cross this water, you can obtain life extremely cheaply, like a simple breath, with almost no loss.
The thought that he too had been born in the same way stirred complex emotions within Wild Hunt. If he hadn't come with consciousness, he would have been nothing more than worthless cannon fodder.
More and more cannon fodder were thrown into the sea like spores being sprayed, joining the battle with an insatiable hunger. They were also evolving; these newborns, unafraid of the moonstone's light, swam straight toward Nami.
Katarina's gaze sharpened, and she was the first to draw her dagger and charge forward. The others, no longer standing by, found their positions on the battlefield. Whether forwards or defenders, they were all fulfilling their roles.
Rainbow tentacles, coated in liquid energy, reached for the nest queens, and the swarm of fish couldn't stop them from piercing one of the queens through. The roar of the giant whale jolted Leona awake; she was utterly stunned by this drastically different war. Her understanding, like a kite with a broken string, plummeted and disappeared into the night.
Compared to the scene before her, the methods the Wild Hunt used to deal with her seemed so gentle. If he had used her as a breeding ground for insect eggs... The thought of the insects bursting out of her chest deepened Leona's fear of the Wild Hunt.
Sephie revealed her true form and lunged at the Void Deformity. Its tentacles, several miles long, were so enormous that even she couldn't bite them off. The tentacles then wrapped around her, binding her tightly like a giant python, but they couldn't break through her defenses. Just as they were locked in a stalemate, another tentacle reached out and wrapped around Sephie, dragging her directly towards the Void Pool.
"Don't just stand there, hurry up and help."
Diana immediately called to the stunned Leona, and charged towards one of the tentacles, her body radiating light. The tentacle was simply too enormous; her Moonsilver Scimitar was only enough to cut a notch in it, and severing it wouldn't be so easy unless she used her Celestial power without regard for the cost.
Just as she was about to carry out her plan, the tentacles dragged the drained nest mother down. She dodged the falling nest mother, but unexpectedly, another tentacle in the distance forcefully hurled a screaming sphere at her. Diana was hit mid-air and swallowed whole by the sphere.
The sphere, composed of countless fangs, began to spin wildly after devouring Diana. Each row of adjacent teeth rotated in opposite directions, producing a harsh grinding sound, as if it had ground her into minced meat.
"Diana!" Leona's eyes widened in fury. The battlefield was ever-changing, punishing those like her who lacked focus.
Driven by fear and anxiety, Leona instantly snapped back to reality, recklessly channeling her Protoss power. Her longsword blazed with golden light, easily severing the sphere and tentacles with a powerful swing. Then, without hesitation, she charged forward, shield in hand.
She split the sphere in two, revealing Diana struggling to stay afloat with her pale aura. Luckily, Leona acted in time; otherwise, she would have only seen Diana reduced to minced meat.
Before they could even feel relieved, another tentacle lashed out. Propelled by inertia, the two plunged headlong into the horde of beasts. The light itself became the most conspicuous bait; the raging tide of beasts surged towards them, the spiraling tentacles as sharp as drills, easily slicing through their skin and drawing out sweet, fresh blood. These monsters had been suppressed by the moonstone for far too long, and faced with their readily available prey, they were all incredibly ferocious.
Just as the two were about to fight their way out of the encirclement, the giant claws of the mad hunter appeared beside them and pulled them out.
"Save your strength to deal with that guy down there, especially you, Diana. You'll need to set up an array to seal the regeneration pool later. These cannon fodder are being suppressed by the moonstones and won't be able to get through."
The two were somewhat unwilling, but they could only follow Wild Hunt's instructions and remain in place, as neither of them had any means of long-range attack, or rather, their strongest means had been sealed.
“The Sun Mother is watching me. If only this were the Earth’s surface.” Leona tore a severed limb from her armor. “If this were the Earth’s surface, we could ask the Sun and Moon to unleash divine punishment. This motionless target would certainly not escape.”
“But this is the deep sea,” Diana sighed.
"Oh? Is that so?" A seductive voice sounded from behind the two women, followed by a pair of hands placed on their shoulders.
The two turned around and saw that it was Cassiopeia who was eavesdropping on their conversation.
Leona still vividly remembered one of the twins who had tricked her, and like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, she retorted, "Why don't you go fight?"
"Combat isn't my forte. Unless forced into a corner, I generally prefer to solve problems with my brain. Besides, it seems there's not much I can do in this situation."
This answer made Leona feel insulted. Even in areas where they were not good at something, they could completely humiliate her. So what was she? Was she a piece of trash?
"I just heard you say that you have a way to severely injure this monster?" Cassiopeia asked, ignoring her gritted teeth.
"Yes, but I need sunshine."
"What if I told you I had a way to bring the sunlight over?"
Leona hesitated for a moment, seemingly considering the possibility: "You'd better be right, and there needs to be plenty of sunlight. If you can do that, you can at least severely weaken the monster, if not destroy it."
"Don't worry, I'll get it for you right away." Cassiopeia patted her shoulder, looking confident.
Chapter 671 Flesh and Blood Fortress
After making the promise, Cassiopeia immediately found Katarina.
"What are you doing? Can't you see I'm busy killing monsters?" Katarina looked at her impatiently, telling her to go to the side and not interfere with her battle.
"Do us a favor. This will help us deal with that thing down there much faster. It's located above the regeneration pool, and if we don't eliminate it swiftly, it will only get more and more difficult to handle."
Cassiopeia reasoned with her, and Katarina glanced down at the enormous tumor below. Several tentacles were tightly wrapped around the constantly emitting Eternal Spear, attempting to pull out the weapon that sealed most of its power. Once pulled out, who knew what would happen next.
What do you want to do?
"Come with me." Cassiopeia pulled Katarina to the two Protoss, briefly explained her thoughts, and stated her position.
“They can unleash powerful attacks using the sun and moon, so you want me to use runes to summon the Sun Disc or the Guihai Maru Temple for them?” Katarina pondered for a moment, then had no reason to refuse: “I have no problem with that, but is it sure it will work?”
She looked at Diana and Leona, who were also unsure whether Cassiopeia's idea was feasible; it seemed far-fetched to them.
