"I'll help you drive them away!" Galio said righteously, but his loud voice gave away everything.
“Listen, Galio, I have something to say to you in private. Can you sit down?” Lux kept reassuring Starfire beneath her. Getting a horse to overcome its fear of the colossus was no easy task.
“Let me try… it doesn’t seem to work. I’ll bend down instead.” With that, Galio bent down, supporting himself on his strong arms, and then folded his wings to form a natural magic-blocking shield, protecting the two women beneath him and completely blocking their view from the outside: “This should be fine, right?”
"Galio, do you know the purpose for which you were created?"
"Of course, that's a mage who crushes enemies!"
"Then you must know that history, right? The history of Demacian mages building a city within its walls, only to be driven out by the Witchers in the end."
“Oh, sorry, little girl,” Galio said. “I always wake up in battle, so I don’t know anything about those things.”
Lux, having anticipated this, continued, "Then you'd better listen carefully."
The girl recounted the altered history of Demacia to Galio, and Sona, who was standing nearby, was astonished upon hearing it, her voice filled with urgent concern: "Is this true?"
Lux nodded. "This is what Morgana, one of the Winged Guardians, told me. There's no mistake about it."
“What do you want me to do by telling me all this?” Galio asked.
“Galio, you are the symbol of the kingdom, and the people believe in you. I need your loudest voice to make this history known to all. Every Demacian has the right to know the truth, not to be kept in the dark.”
"Are you coming with me?"
"No, I have other things to do..."
“Then I can’t leave. If I leave you, I will go into hibernation. And if I go into hibernation, how will I speak?”
After listening, Lux took out a small bag from her body, and then took out a glowing blue gem the size of a fingernail from the bag. She said to Galio, "Come here and try this."
"Hmm?" Galio lowered his head, letting Lux set the gems into the crown on his head.
In an instant, he felt a vast magical power surging endlessly from the fingernail-sized gem into his stone body. This magical power was boundless and inexhaustible, seemingly capable of sustaining his independent movement for an entire century!
"How...how did you do that? You gave me inexhaustible life!"
"Great! This thing is called a World Rune. The person who gave it to me said it's the source of all magic and can truly bring you 'back to life.'" Lux was happy for Galio. The Wild Hunt had given her this rune fragment, all for this moment.
Inspiration runes cannot be pieced together to form a foundation; they currently exist in fragment form. The Wild Hunt has been considering how to utilize them, one possible use being as a nuclear power source for Galio.
“With the rune fragments, you can help me, right?” Lux said. “First Mithril, then Demacia. Your booming voice will surely stop Demacia’s internal strife.”
The giant thought for a moment, "It's possible, but I still don't want you to leave."
“There’s nothing I can do. This country can’t tolerate mages right now. You told me to cherish my talent, but all they want to do now is destroy me.” Lux smiled bitterly. “If you solve this problem, I can come back.”
Galio listened to her words and fell into deep thought. But not long after, he made up his mind.
“I understand. I will cherish the life you gave me.” He stood up again and nodded solemnly to Lux. “If you are in danger, fire a beam into the sky. As long as I see it, I will fly over to protect you, no matter how far away.”
Wild Hunt watched the unfolding events with great interest. Lux's acquisition of the ability to summon Gundams was an unexpected bonus for him.
"Goodbye, little girls. Go in peace, I promise they won't make it."
Galio turned around and spread his wings, which formed a wall behind him like a fortress. Scattered firelight flickered in the forest. He flapped his wings forcefully, creating a strong gust of wind that sent the pursuing demon hunters and the dragon riders circling in the sky staggering and unable to advance an inch.
Having confirmed that no one could cross the barrier, Lux and Sona nodded to each other and rode their white horses into the night.
Chapter 655 Morgana's Abnormality
On
Lux led Sona back to the Veil Mother's abode, which appeared dilapidated but was actually a hidden paradise.
By infusing magic into the seemingly corrupted pool, the purple flames opened a portal to the Shadow Realm, where they would meet the legendary winged guardians.
Morgana's place of confession was somewhat eerie. The cave was illuminated by a dim light emitted from amethyst, which reflected the various stone statues with strange postures and painful expressions, making Sona feel uneasy.
Is this place really as safe as Lux claims?
After her thoughts drifted into Lux's mind, the latter gathered a bright ball of light in her hand: "Uh... it's a bit gloomy here, but it's very well hidden. Those demon hunters won't be able to find their way in. You'll get used to it after a while."
“What are we doing in a place like this?” Sona made a few gestures.
"There's someone who wants to see you. He can help you, but... you might have to give something in return."
Sona vaguely sensed Lux's unpleasant thoughts. "It's not that I necessarily need to cure my muteness."
"Since we're already here, let's see what happens first." Lux really didn't know how to explain it to Sona, so she could only take it one step at a time.
Shadowy flames burned over the brazier as Lux led Sona into the deeper interrogation room, where they met Morgana. The fallen angel stood with her back to them, her wings bound in chains trailing behind her, causing Sona's eyes to widen slightly.
In front of Morgana, hidden from view, was a rack studded with thumbtacks. Another angel with white wings was bound to it by chains. Her face was covered in dust, and she leaned wearily on Morgana's shoulder. Her white feathers were mottled and yellowed, as if stained with blood, suggesting she had suffered considerable torture.
“Madam, I have brought Sona with me.” Lux knelt and gave a knightly salute.
Sona noticed this; it was a formality used to express loyalty. And someone who could earn Lux's loyalty… Sona grew increasingly uneasy, nervously watching Morgana's every move.
"Oh, they've already arrived."
Morgana turned to look at the two of them. She was wearing a purple floor-length dress with a slit that reached her waist. Her feet were clattering in her high heels. The exposed thigh was glistening with sweat, and her private area was faintly visible as she walked. She was not wearing anything there and seemed not to care at all about exposing her lush forest to them.
The other angel hanging on the rack behind her was completely naked. After Morgana left, her head drooped without support, her face obscured by her disheveled white hair, creating an atmosphere of sanctity being desecrated. This set a similar tone for Sona's meeting with her.
"I'm sorry to have shown you my sister's ugly side." Morgana knew that Kyle's appearance was not suitable for public display, but she ignored her own promiscuous image.
Sona knew she had seen something she shouldn't have, and hurriedly lowered her head to avoid Morgana's gaze. But Morgana walked straight up to her, gently lifted her chin with two fingers, and looked her up and down, her eyes showing a satisfied expression, as if she were looking for something.
"Sona, is it? Would you like to be my handmaid?"
Sona initially wanted to refuse; she had her own things to do, to soothe all beings with her music, not to serve just one person. But as Morgana removed her veil, revealing a compassionate and loving expression, she realized that refusing wasn't so easy.
"You seem to have lost your voice? Heaven has taken your voice away, but it's okay, I will open this window for you again."
Morgana doesn't possess healing magic, but she has World Runes borrowed from the Wild Hunt, originally intended to repair Kayle's body so she could endure more suffering; now she can use them on Sona.
A green light emerged, and as healing energy flowed into Sona's throat, she felt the vibration of her vocal cords again. The problem that had plagued her since birth was finally resolved.
“I…ee…no…”
Sona's voice sounded like her vocal cords were being torn apart, the sounds coming out in broken sentences. Morgana simply smiled and said, "The hardest step is often creating something from nothing. Before you get used to making sounds, you can use magic to make sounds instead of your throat."
Morgana reached out and stroked Sona's face, offering a second option. As a memory flowed into Sona's mind, she gained the magic to shape voices.
"Miss--"
Sona had only uttered two syllables when Morgana put a finger to her lips in a shushing gesture: "Shh. You've come all this way, so go and wash up first. I'll prepare a feast to welcome you back."
Morgana wore a cryptic smile, which puzzled the two. Since she had already shown them away, they had no choice but to leave. The two went to the treehouse left behind by Kai'Sa, which Lux had been using as a guest room ever since Kai'Sa left.
Lux first brought Starfire some food and supplies to settle it down, then took Sona to a nearby pool to bathe. The pool water was icy cold, and Lux immersed her hands in it, infusing them with magic; the light was often accompanied by heat.
The light magic made the pool water shimmer and sparkle. With the continuous infusion of heat, the cold pool transformed into a steaming hot spring, with iridescent luster faintly appearing in the steam.
"Amazing." Sona tried to utter a short sentence using magic, but her hands still unconsciously made gestures, as if she couldn't speak if she pressed her hands down.
"It's alright. If Demacia encouraged people to practice magic, I could definitely do better." Lux took off her clothes first and entered the pool, then invited Sona to come down and take a bath with her.
So far, everything is normal. Their relationship isn't good enough for them to be completely honest with each other; they wash their hair and bodies with their backs to each other.
Kings don't meet, and Lux inevitably feels inferior in front of the magnanimous Sona, while Sona feels the same way and tries her best not to hurt the other's self-esteem.
"Sona, what do you think of the lady?" Lux suddenly asked, trying to ease the tension. (The rest of the text appears to be gibberish and unrelated to the initial question.)
Sona paused for a moment, then replied, "She's an unpredictable person."
This was her first impression of Morgana: mysterious and unpredictable, both righteous and evil. She was like a jailer, living in the darkest corners, making a living by torturing others. Yet, she was also so understanding, easily curing her loss of voice. If Lux hadn't explained, she would never have guessed that this was the one who had once protected Demacia.
Chapter 656 Tasting Sin
On
Lux nodded repeatedly after hearing Sona's answer; in fact, she knew very little about Morgana as well.
During the time she spent with Morgana, she was like a strict teacher and a loving mother, teaching her how to tame magic, which was regarded as a monstrous threat, and also making her feel maternal care. Morgana was the only person who could make her feel the deep affection of "a teacher for a day is a father for life".
"The lady wants you to stay and serve her. What do you think?" Lux asked again. If she were the one being asked, she would have agreed without hesitation.
“I don’t even know her yet, it’s too early to say these things.” Sona untied the hair clips from her twin ponytails and immersed her sky-blue hair in water to wash it. “Actually, I’m a little concerned about another angel. Morgana said that’s her sister. I’m curious why she would imprison her own sister.”
Sona's negative impression of Morgana largely stemmed from this: what kind of person would imprison their family? This led her to associate Morgana with labels like controlling and ruthless. If it weren't for Morgana's later understanding and compassion, Sona probably wouldn't be obediently staying here taking a bath right now.
“They never got along well.” Lux has a copy of The Winged Sisters’ Hymn at home, which details the angel sisters’ falling out back then, but she doesn’t plan to use it as a topic of conversation: “It’s better not to make assumptions about these things. Maybe the truth is not what you and I see at all.”
"Um...I have another question, is she usually...this outgoing?"
"I think she's always been like this in my memory." Lux scratched her head. "Well... no one's coming here anyway, so she can do whatever makes her comfortable."
As if to confirm Lux's words, her fingers suddenly twitched. Fine, hair-like tendrils extended from the mark on her palm, tightly wrapping around her fingers.
"What the hell!" Lux knew perfectly well that Wild Hunt was behind this, and tried her best to hold down her fingers to stop him, but her hands still uncontrollably reached out to Sona, who was facing away from her. Sona, completely unaware of what was going on, nodded in agreement: "That's true."
The Wild Hunt had a clear objective. It controlled Lux's hands, guiding them under her armpits to climb up her large breasts. The sudden attack surprised Sona slightly: "What are you doing?"
"If you betray me, it won't be as simple as just lifting a finger." Lux was about to explain when Wild Hunt's threatening whisper rang in her ears, startling her so much that she swallowed her words back down.
"I'm sorry... I was just curious about what it would feel like to play with something this big." Lux stammered, changing her tune. Given her upbringing, she would never have done such a thing, but now she could only swallow her anger and suffer in silence.
She soon realized that as Wild Hunt continued to knead her breasts, Lux felt a magical power emanating from those soft, bouncy breasts; her hands seemed to sink deep inside, enveloped by the flowing waves of flesh. Along with this came a profound sense of shame; she was becoming Wild Hunt's accomplice, committing the molestation of another girl.
"Sona, you don't mind me doing this, do you?" Lux buried her face in the back of Sona's neck, feeling incredibly ashamed. She wanted to slap herself twice.
"It's alright, feel free to touch me if you want. Actually, my sister has done something similar to me," Sona didn't seem to mind and continued washing her hair. "Are you alright? Your face is so hot against my back."
"Is Kasina like that too?"
“Yes, being too big can sometimes be a problem. She always asks me to share some with her.”
Sona's answer instantly healed Lux, almost bringing her to tears of gratitude. How could there be such a kind girl in the world? Sona's magnanimity only made Lux seem more wicked, actually condoning the madman's attack on her. "You want to think about it but you're busy, Lin is here..."
Fortunately, the Wild Hunt didn't make things too difficult for her. He didn't take any further action. Otherwise, if he had controlled her fingers to dig downwards, she would have been unable to defend herself and might have been looked at with strange eyes by Sona from then on, never able to gain her trust again.
The two then chatted for a while and enjoyed a pleasant time, but Lux always felt uneasy, and Wild Hunt's actions just now were a sign of that.
After washing up, the two found elegant robes prepared for them by the pool. They had no choice but to accept this kindness, put on the white robes, and go to the sanctuary to pay homage to the mother of the sorcerer.
Upon returning to the facility, they found a rectangular dining table covered with a pristine white tablecloth, and on the table lay the fallen angel.
Naked, she washed away the filth from her body and was used as a dinner tray. Her torso and limbs were covered with various exquisite foods, a dazzling array that was hard to look away from. The delicate food adorned her sacred body, and her sacred body enhanced the deliciousness of the food. The two complemented each other so well that even before they tasted the food, their mouths were already watering uncontrollably.
But behind this exquisite plating lies an insult to human dignity. If they were lying on it, they would feel utterly disgusted.
"What did she do? Why treat her like this?" Sona gestured anxiously, questioning the one who had caused all this, unable to suppress the sympathy in her heart.
"Justice, how many evils are committed in your name." Morgana poured the last of the sauce onto Kyle's navel, this natural indentation, and casually asked, "If someone claims to be just but never distinguishes right from wrong and only follows inhuman laws, judging countless sinful people for this purpose, do you think she deserves to die?"
Sona fell into deep thought. It was right for sinners to be punished, yet the death row inmates were few and far between, which was enough to show that many sinners did not deserve to die.
Take Sylas for example. He conspired with a mage to kill his two demon hunter mentors, and even disregarding subjective factors, he was only sentenced to life imprisonment. If he hadn't later instigated Lux to help him escape, he certainly wouldn't have been dragged to the execution ground.
It would be wrong to sentence someone to death so easily without giving them any chance. Looking at the law alone, these corrupted sorcerers are born with original sin; do they deserve to be imprisoned? That's incredibly unfair.
"Laws are made by people, and they are not eternal truths."
"Although you were born mute, you're quite good at talking." Morgana snorted. "You must think I'm evil, but everything I've done is just to help my sister atone for her sins as soon as possible. She deserves to die, but anyone can get a chance to reform here. Even if she's still deeply mired in karma, I will guide her until she's completely healed."
She clapped her hands, gesturing, "Sit down, girls. Tonight, we'll taste sin."
Chapter 657 Important Guest
"I'm sorry, I really can't accept this kind of dinner. I'll have to stay. Lux, let's go."
Sona declined Morgana's invitation. Perhaps many would fight tooth and nail to have a place here, treating the former angel as a condiment for a delicacy, but she refused to be one of the perpetrators of the insult.
"This..." Lux hesitated. She knew Morgana's methods and dared not go against her opinion, but Sona pulled her by the wrist and led her outside.
Chains appeared out of thin air, sealing off the only escape route. They ignited with black flames, and the leaping flames forced Sona back.
"The most important guests haven't even arrived yet, how can you leave first?"
As soon as she finished speaking, countless jet-black tentacles emerged from the mark on Morgana's palm. They intertwined and wove together as if they were alive, quickly forming a human-shaped outline. The tentacles continuously secreted a grayish-white gel to fill the gaps between them. The gel reacted with the air and quickly hardened, then began to turn blood-red and transform into flesh.
A naked man appeared, his short, neat hair concealing sharp eyebrows and striking features, his deep-set eyes holding a predatory quality. Morgana picked up the robe draped over the back of the chair and personally draped it over this unusual guest, then stepped in front to shield him from his aggressive masculinity.
"Let me introduce you. This is the true god you are to serve." Indeed, Morgana orchestrated this unique banquet for the Wild Hunt; two young girls didn't deserve her such attention. (The rest of the text appears to be unrelated and possibly machine-generated gibberish.)
The Wild Hunt sent Kayle to Morgana to change her mind, using methods such as brainwashing or torture, if necessary; if she didn't obey, she would be killed. Morgana needed to deliver results periodically to gain the Wild Hunt's patience and thus prolong her sister's life.
“I have not agreed to serve anyone except my mother.” Sona sensed a trap and shielded Lux behind her, but Wild Hunt only glanced at them with slight interest and had no intention of making a move.
He focused his gaze on the tray of flesh on the table, stepped forward, and removed Kyle's blindfold, allowing her to see her own face. His eyes revealed undisguised schadenfreude, taking pleasure in her miserable plight.
The latter, her mouth gagged and bound with strips of cloth, was unable to make a sound and desperately tried to break free of her chains. The trembling of her body caused some food to slip off her, prompting Wild Hunt to shake his head in disbelief.
“Wasting food is no good. All of this that fell in and all the leftovers will be your responsibility.” After saying this, Wild Hunt looked up at the two women: “Aren’t you going to sit down and eat? Are you two trying to make her stuff herself to death?”
His voice carried an irresistible authority, and Sona and Lux frowned as they looked at Kayle. The food she carried was undeniably plentiful; if they didn't help her finish some, her stomach would truly burst.
