"The 10th Army Corps in Taichung is a huge lump of meat. It has eleven brigades and two reserve support commands, totaling 50,000 men. General Zhang, you've devoured most of Taipei and handed the 6th Army Corps over to the 91st Combined Arms Brigade. Now that our 14th Combined Arms Brigade wants to eat meat, you should help us out too."

"Of course we support it."

Zhang Xiaoqian wasn't in a hurry.

The Zhenhai, Koryo, and Yashima battleships, already towed backwards from the mouth of the Tamsui River, are sailing along the west coast of Taiwan, completely disregarding the Patriot and Hsiung Feng II missile bases deployed by the Taiwanese military. Indeed, those missile units have received notices of surrender; a ceasefire would ensure peace, while those who open fire would likely face a death sentence, so they naturally have to think carefully.

Therefore, the battleship fleet and the combined armored division advancing along the mountain roads in the central mountains of Taiwan formed a pincer movement between the sea and land forces.

Subsequently, the 14th Brigade, under the guise of being Japanese cannon fodder, easily traversed mountains and valleys and entered the Taichung Plain without hindrance.

The enemy directly in front of us is the Fifth Combat Zone of Taiwan.

"The Tenth Army Corps, huh? That's a unit reorganized from Sun Li-ren's original New First Army." Mei Ne-yong wondered if Lin Zai-zai had time...

It's another old unit that perfectly embodies the weight of history. It was quite famous back then, and even more famous for being called the "New Japanese Army" in Guangzhou. There are so many anecdotes, old jokes, new jokes, and studies about Sun Li-ren and this newly formed First Army that they could fill a whole book.

Leading the charge was the 234th Mechanized Infantry Brigade of the Army, located in Dajia District, north of Taipei. This was the renowned unit of General Guan Linzheng, codenamed the Great Wall Brigade. The glorious history of this division is marked by the brilliance of figures like Zhang Zhizhong, Dai Anlan, Guan Linzheng, and Du Yuming. Their battles—the Battle of Gubeikou, the Battle of Xuzhou, the Battle of Taierzhuang, the Battle of Wuhan, and the Battle of Changsha—filled the most difficult period of the War of Resistance against Japan.

Faced with such an enemy, the 14th Brigade was overjoyed, and the Type 05 infantry fighting vehicles were so eager to floor the accelerator.

"Charge!"

When they stormed into Dajia Town, everyone was stunned.

There are no enemies.

"Holy crap, an expired map?"

Yes, the Great Wall troops have completely withdrawn south, reaching Daya District in Taichung City, south of the Dajia River. There's nothing left here now.

Further ahead, in Houli District, the northernmost part of Taipei City, are stationed two combined arms battalions and one artillery battalion of the 586th Armored Brigade. This unit was organized relatively late, but it was formed in homage to the armored regiment of Du Yuming, and was called the "Zhongshan Unit." However, it was actually a descendant unit of the real armored regiment. The Taitung Local Defense Command had already defected to the Communists.

In other words, along the hundred-plus miles from Hsinchu County southward through Miaoli County to Taichung City, there were no troops at all, except for two nominal county and city reserve brigades that had no actual combat capability.

The staff officers, referring to satellite maps, re-marked the positions of each army unit:

"The enemy's Sixth Army Corps, the 234th Mechanized Brigade is in Daya District in the southwest of Taichung City, the 586th Armored Brigade is in Houli District in the north of Taichung City, and the 302nd Infantry Brigade and the 104th Infantry Brigade are in Wuri District on the west side of Taichung City."

Aside from the two brigades mentioned earlier, the 302nd Brigade was the old Second Army of the National Revolutionary Army, originating from the Hunan Army, and its history can be traced back to the Zeng Guofan era. The 104th Brigade was even older, its predecessor being the First Column of the Henan Bandit Suppression Team, which was known as the Zhao Zilong Division during the Liberation War for its "not losing a single machine gun," and was crushed during the Battle of Tashan.

"In addition, the enemy's newly formed beachhead garrison 101st Brigade and the enemy's 257th Brigade are both stationed at the north entrance of Chiayi City, and they may enter the city at any time to carry out scorched earth operations."

Colonel Jia was filled with questions:

"The 6th Army Corps is ruthless. They've placed all six of their main combat brigades in strongholds within Taichung and Chiayi city. Are they preparing for a scorched-earth war with us?"

The original plan was to place elite troops in the rear and launch a counterattack after the Communist army landed. However, the Communist army's advance is too rapid, so they can only transform into street fighting heroes and fight the mainland in residential areas.

Zhang Xiaoqian, standing on the shore, reminded him:

"I must remind you that although naval guns have fire control and can destroy the enemy's main military camps, we cannot fire indiscriminately at ordinary troops that have infiltrated the city."

In any case, urban street fighting is always the most brutal and costly method of decisive battle, taking the lives of soldiers the most.

To fight or not to fight?

Anxiety gripped the staff.

It was the time when dark clouds were gathering and rain was about to fall; the dark clouds pressed down on the city, threatening to crush it.

But an unexpected shift in offense and defense changed the game.

Kuomintang members in Taipei helped contact Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen.

They are willing to cooperate and change the flag.

Immediately, the Taichung City Government and residents breathed a sigh of relief.

Colonel Jia also breathed a sigh of relief.

No one needs to bleed desperately because of a little bit of unreasonable insistence.

The citizens hurriedly waved the five-star red flag, and the ordinary soldiers of the 10th Army Corps put down their guns and ran home. Lu Xiuyan organized the labor corps to come out and sing and dance.

Zhang Xiaoqian complained from the shore:

"Taichung Mayor Lu Shiow-yen has changed sides, saying nice things like she wants a 'peaceful ceasefire' and 'cannot bear the wounds of war.' No wonder she's a former TV anchor; she's very good at changing her tune."

Lu Hsiu-yen's change of allegiance was not sudden, but it severely damaged four brigades and a military headquarters near Taichung City.

"Huh? We haven't even fought yet? You're already surrendering?"

The troops, already lacking the will to fight, were forced to lay down their arms and accept the peaceful transfer of power by the local Kuomintang's conciliatory approach. The Sixth Army Corps' command could no longer urge the troops to fight and had no choice but to flee in disarray, eventually being captured by the air force at Qingquangang Airport.

Although the Air Force's IDF Ching-kuo fighter jets can't take off, it's still easy to capture a few army generals.

"Li Ronghua, commander of the 10th Army Corps, and Wen Xuesheng, deputy commander, have been arrested!"

In the blink of an eye, in less than a day, they captured Miaoli, Taichung, and Chiayi, and incorporated eleven brigades of the Tenth Army Corps.

Colonel Jia patted his chest with a smug look on his face:

"Continue south, we're going to wipe out the American troops in Tainan and Kaohsiung."

"Brigade Commander, they're running even faster."

The staff officer, however, pointed to the sea.

Looking up, Zhang Xiaoqian's battleship fleet sped along the coast, leaving only an unseen silhouette for Colonel Jia Yongliang.

Zhang Xiaoqian's humorous reply:

"Your unit has already taken eleven brigades from the Tenth Army Corps, and it's still not enough? We'll take the U.S. First Army."

Colonel Jia Yongliang could only jump up and down cursing from behind:

"Hey, you son of a bitch."

……

Taipei's new political life is just beginning.

Aside from brandishing batons and beating up gangsters in the streets and alleys, and rediscovering a familiar feeling among the citizens, the coalition forces did not interfere much with the atmosphere of new political integration.

The military mainly does two things.

First, they sought to have heart-to-heart talks with various gang leaders; second, they demanded the list of Taiwanese psychological warfare agents from various departments, relentlessly pursued various online public relations companies, and investigated the online trolls who had previously created public opinion storms in mainland China, as well as the hacker organizations involved in the continuous attacks on mainland networks.

This group is commonly known as the '1450 Internet Army'.

Taiwan's position in the traditional Chinese-speaking world makes news about China always seem chaotic and confusing.

A prime example is the Chinese censorship management of Western platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, which is often managed by Taiwan. As a result, the censorship is clearly biased. In order to create a world that conforms to the fantasies of Japanese and Taiwanese media, the expression of ideas by simplified Chinese accounts is greatly suppressed, and accounts are frequently banned or deleted.

The online information cocoons created by pro-US and pro-Taiwan factions in Taiwan, Malaysia, and Singapore, along with related Taiwanese Americans, have, on the other hand, also produced oddballs like Gordon Chang, who have long perpetuated the myth of China's collapse.

There's one last place.

That was the Jinanshan Hengshan Command Post, which had not yet surrendered.

The coalition forces outside are still pouring water from the Keelung River into the area.

“Lai Ching-te, Gu Lixiong, Mei Jiashu, come out. This is now the United Army. We have reached an agreement with the CCP. Those who are willing to leave can peacefully go to Hokkaido to establish a special administrative region.”

The person inside gurgled but couldn't speak.

Is it that they won't surrender? It's clearly you who won't stop the water supply.

Ryukyu Island.

At the Tokyo headquarters, Kagoshima Yuike sent Li Xinghe a text message.

"The plan is complete."

Li Xinghe laughed nonstop after reading it, and joked with Ping Yingmei:

"There was this incredibly powerful noblewoman who managed to get a phone call from a thousand miles away to my forward command post, telling me she had decided to switch sides and that I should go back to Tokyo. No way! I'm going to stay on this southwestern front and see how America reacts, haha."

Ping Yingmei pinched Li Xinghe's nose with a slight pout:

"Can you stop spouting old movie references that no one understands? The wreath under the mountain, the last time I saw it was when I was a kid in Beijing, when the school organized a movie screening, that was ages ago."

Shinze Taifeng, with a bitter face, grabbed Li Xinghe and acted coquettishly:

"What mountain and what wreath? And what kind of code is this that I don't understand? Ah, don't be so mean."

Li Xinghe deliberately didn't tell her, just teased the silly child.

The newly formed U.S. First Army is still in Kaohsiung, already trapped like a turtle in a jar. Lu Yuchi's plan to betray the United States is about to be made public.

At that time, everything will be turned upside down.

Chapter 809: I Offer My Blood to Xuanyuan (5500 words)

"The typhoon has started again, why isn't it moving away?"

A fierce storm once again blanketed the island of Taiwan, seemingly to reflect the tense state of the battle.

The air battleship formation headed south and, after accepting the surrender of several shore-based anti-ship missile batteries, appeared off the coast of Tainan City.

Zhang Xiaoqian looked at the satellite images:

"The Eighth Army Corps appears to lack the will to resist... Many troops did not even leave their camps."

Hu Zhantian seemed puzzled:

"It seems that Tainan City has not organized any resistance. That shouldn't be the case, isn't this the main stronghold of the DPP? Lai Ching-te's old base."

However, the main camp and political stronghold do not equate to the ability to resist.

Moreover, in recent years, the Taiwanese government's control over the Tainan area has been surprisingly weak. If it were truly capable of organizing an army and civilians to resist, it wouldn't need to cooperate with various local underworld bosses.

Organized crime, or rather, various clan, provincial, or neighborhood-based grassroots social organizations, lack reliable organizational capacity in the face of a higher-level unification war. If you ask them to resist, they'd probably rather discuss post-merger policies with the Communist Party.

Li Xinghe was also on the communication channel.

He said jokingly:

"That's what happens when you lack execution. That's how the world is; the outcome determines the course of victory. You can't kill someone by chanting scriptures."

"Of the 6000 million people in Britain, 1100 million are children, and 400 million are starving. Does the British expect to use these starving children to fight in the war? No, the current bourgeois government in Britain can function without these children; they are not important to them."

"Britain's education system is atrocious, and the intelligence level of native white people is about the same as that of apes and monkeys. Has the British Ministry of Education made any decent changes? No, because they know that these mentally challenged white apes are their stable voter base. The elites think they can completely control the mentally challenged masses."

All the above data comes from official British statistics. It's hard to imagine that the country that was the first in the world to enter the ranks of developed economies has become like this. Even Empress Dowager Cixi would laugh and say, "I could do that too."

Therefore, Li Xinghe concludes:

"No matter how you put it, any decision without grassroots organization, determination, and execution will ultimately become a fantasy. Go for it, Tainan is almost powerless to resist."

Thus, the three aircraft carrier battleships stormed directly into Anping Harbor, charging in unimpeded. Missiles flying through the air struck their bridges and armor with little damage.

The troops on shore launched their drones.

“Lock down their drones.”

This involves two very famous memes and jokes.

The reason the Taiwanese military repeatedly purchases secondhand scrap from the US military is because the kickbacks from relevant American companies and members of Congress are so large that they can abandon Taiwan's own production chain and continuously purchase secondhand goods from abroad. Even though Taiwan pays a huge economic price for this every year, it is still willing to do so.

At the same time, this kickback model leads to local manufacturers having to give kickbacks to the military if they want to do any research and development. The final products are often very abstract. For example, the much-discussed Haikun-class submarine produced by Taiwan has a huge number of defects, all of which are caused by production targets and kickbacks for the sake of production.

The issue of taking kickbacks is one, so what is the second?

As the drone jammer operated at high power, the drones with no identification codes in the sky fell to the ground one after another.

"Haha."

Everyone laughed.

Secondly, while the Taiwanese military appears to have a strong will to resist, its actual execution is rather perfunctory. For example, during a demonstration, it was discovered that 95% of the drones produced by several Taiwanese military factories were civilian products sourced from Shenzhen's Huaqiangbei market and relabeled.

This is just a small glimpse into the state of arms production. To understand the quality of other products, one only needs to look at the Ching-kuo fighter jet and various Cold War-era artifacts. This problem, coupled with the practice of accepting kickbacks, perpetuates a cycle that undermines the already limited military production capacity.

This is why, despite the presence of numerous anti-submarine helicopters, the air battleship fleet has yet to encounter any Taiwanese submarines. The Haikun-class submarine remains inoperable to this day.

Since things had already come to this, the landing troops happily opened the dock.

"Sound the bugle call, charge the beach!"

The Type 16 wheeled assault gun tank, which is not an amphibious infantry fighting vehicle, actually undertook the main task of beach assault, rushing onto the beach with the assistance of auxiliary ferries.

The Red Army's traditional bugle call was attached to a loudspeaker on a vehicle to create a sense of intimidation. The tanks charged toward the city center, and the few scattered resistance strongholds on the street scattered and fled before even firing a shot.

The infantry battalion, chemical warfare corps 39th group, engineer corps 54th group, 203rd infantry brigade, and 137th infantry brigade of the 8th Army Corps stationed near Tainan City quickly applied for surrender and ceasefire through their Taipei contacts. They waved the five-star red flag together and then lay down in the barracks to sleep peacefully.
