——Faced with a group of desperate black rebels, one can imagine what would happen to these white college students if they were discovered.
Zoe hesitated, then pulled her pistol from under her skirt, flipped the safety, and aimed it at the secret door.
She knew that her five-round self-defense pistol was no match for the Black Panthers' rifles and submachine guns, but in a life-or-death situation, she had to fight back!
Fortunately, the worst-case scenario did not happen, and the noisy black people soon left.
After a while, the sound of gunfire outside gradually became sparse and stopped completely at four o'clock in the afternoon.
Looking back at the three female college students trembling like quails, Zoe mustered up the courage to push the secret door open a crack, put her eyes close to it, and observe the situation carefully. She saw the doors and windows of the office below were wide open, the floor was in a mess, and the corridor was dead silent.
Seeing that the situation seemed safe, she opened the secret door on the ceiling, lowered the retractable stairs, and led everyone out one by one.
The evening sun was still very bright, and it took the women who had just crawled out of the dark attic a while to get used to it.
Looking out the office window, Zoe finally breathed a sigh of relief as she saw the M48 Patton tanks and M113 armored vehicles parked in the distance. She pulled a can of beer from her desk, opened it, and downed it. Then, smacking her lips, she said to the female university students, "The army has entered the city and cleared the area. We should be safe now."
The three girls looked at the situation outside, breathed a sigh of relief, and then started chattering.
"What to do next?"
"Anyway, let's get out of here first. I've had enough of this lousy attic!"
"But there are no cars. All the cars around here are burned!"
"Just find a soldier and take their car!"
The girls discussed for a while and then rushed out, but were stopped by Zoe, who had more life experience.
"Stop! Take off your clothes before leaving, leaving only your underwear on! Aren't you afraid of being shot by the soldiers?"
She started taking off her clothes and scolded them, "Don't be shy! Show your body openly! Now is not the time to be chaste, not to mention that you don't have any chastity anymore! You must let the soldiers know that you are not niggers the moment you show your body!"
Otherwise, these soldiers have just finished a bloody battle and their nerves are still very tense. They will mistake the reflection in the mirror for a sniper. If we rush out rashly and get shot in the head by a machine gun, our death will be in vain - accidental injuries and killings are inevitable in any war!
"
Just like that, a moment later, a group of four women, bare-chested, holding their clothes and a crude white flag made of a tablecloth and a pointer, tiptoed down the stairs. Although they had seen numerous bullet casings, bloodstains, and dense bullet holes on the walls along the way, and had been somewhat prepared, they were still horrified by the scene when they actually reached the first-floor lobby.
——This is simply... a living human slaughterhouse!
From the first-floor corridors to the lobby and even the conference room, scattered "humanoid forms" were everywhere. They were called humanoid forms because the bodies of these black people were missing some parts: arms and legs, heads half-chopped off, intestines scattered all over the floor. Sticky blood was sprayed everywhere, not only on the walls and floor, but even on the ceiling.
In addition to the pungent gunpowder smoke, there was also an unbearable fishy smell in the air - this was the breath of death!
Compared with the killing efficiency of the army, even the thugs who boast of their bravery are nothing more than a violent performance like a game.
A few seconds later, all four of them began to vomit continuously, spitting out the acid in their stomachs, which also attracted the attention of the soldiers.
Fortunately, when the soldiers saw that the women were four naked white women, they immediately lowered their guns, and some even whistled at their swaying breasts. Zoe, still charming, casually blew a kiss, unconcerned about the sight of her, and completely put her mind at ease.
This time, I was finally saved!
——Even though sporadic explosions and gunshots were still heard in the distant blocks...
-
At the same time, not far from the attic where the witch Zoe was hiding, under a wall where the Black Panther Party members had graffitied the slogan "Turn the imperialist war into a civil war", the dusty Ferry was staring at the pile of "trophies" at his feet in a daze.
Among them were various blood-stained rifles and pistols, the Black Panther Party's Black Panther flags, and several English versions of "Selected Works of Mao Zedong" and "Quotations from Mao Zedong" - some of them were crude mimeographed copies, while others were very exquisite red books, which looked like they were smuggled directly from mainland China.
"Lenin's slogans, plus the teacher's articles? This Black Panther Party is really..."
He casually opened a small notebook and took a look at it. Then he thought about the "superhero Black Panther" in the 21st century Marvel movie universe, who combined primitive barbarism and feudal backwardness. Fili couldn't help but sighed - is this what they call a history book?
At that moment, Fili's former boss, Estelion, a veteran counter-revolutionary who had orchestrated and driven the Cuban War and now worked under him, approached with a weary look on his face. He gave Fili a complicated look and then raised his hand in salute. "Colonel, the insurgents entrenched on campus have been largely eliminated. The remaining rebels are fleeing south..."
During the assault on the USC campus, Fili, known as an "unconventional soldier," wisely chose not to personally direct the operation. Instead, he handed it over to Estelline, a veteran in suppressing revolutions, and brought in Zun Shiding, a South Vietnamese general and former president of Quang Nam, as advisors.
Although Zun Shiding's combat record is not very good, the Black Panther Party guerrillas, which were only established this year, can't be more difficult to fight than the Viet Cong, right?
As it turned out, the Black Panthers did not have the ability to become a "talking tree". Faced with the bombardment of tanks and the rapid advance of armored vehicles, as well as their companions being smashed to pieces by heavy machine gun fire, these seemingly powerful black people only held on for less than half an hour before quickly disintegrating.
It's just that the US military, um, American-armed, colored troops, have a long tradition of using excessive firepower, which resulted in significant damage to buildings on the USC campus. Smoke still billows from several buildings. Even the film school, known for its fame, was blasted with a large hole.
Looking at the university campus littered with ruins and the swarms of reporters frantically snapping photos, Estelion couldn't help but feel a little worried.
The troops carrying out riot and counterinsurgency operations turned the campus into a pile of ruins... Will this cause an uproar in the media?
"Don't worry, Senior. War inevitably brings destruction. This is a truth everyone understands! The Pentagon is only worried that you won't fight hard enough! Right now, there are battles all over the country, especially in Detroit. It's almost like a second Paris Commune!"
After hearing Esteline's concerns, Firi patted him on the shoulder disapprovingly. Then, pointing to the Black Panther Party slogan on the wall, he casually said, "Since the Black Panther Party wants to 'turn the imperialist war into a civil war,' then of course the federal government must fight back!"
It may cause public outcry, and then all those who participated in the suppression will suffer consequences.
But Firi knew that given the current situation in the United States, which was in chaos, the commotion in Los Angeles was really nothing.
Especially compared with Detroit, where the Black Panther Party is currently causing trouble, Los Angeles, where only a few hundred people died, is almost calm!
——For a left-wing revolutionary organization like the Black Panther Party, which has a strong socialist color, is newly established, and has not yet embarked on its own independent path, if it wants to carry out a proletarian revolution, it can only follow the successful experience and existing path of pioneers such as China and Russia.
Unfortunately, Los Angeles, a city that is neither a heavy industrial city nor a political center, but one that excels in the cultural and entertainment industries, is naturally not a suitable place to launch a proletarian revolution. Whether following Russia's "central city uprising route" or China's "surrounding the cities from the countryside" route, Los Angeles is a "value depression" for revolution.
Therefore, while the Black Panther Party was headquartered in San Francisco, its initial focus was on the agricultural states of the South, where racial tensions were intense, and the Great Lakes industrial region, home to a large number of industrial workers. Even on the West Coast, Seattle and San Francisco, with their concentration of high-tech industries, had a much stronger "revolutionary base" than Los Angeles, according to traditional proletarian revolutionary theory, and therefore attracted greater attention from the Black Panther Party.
Therefore, Los Angeles was not the primary focus of the Black Panther Party's activities. Few official members participated in the Black Panther riots, and they were unable to truly control many armed groups. The Black Panthers who once invaded USC were, at best, peripheral organizations.
In other words, it was an armed black group affiliated with the Black Panther Party, and even mixed in with quite a number of gangsters - just like many drug lords in South America later flew red flags, some criminal groups could also occasionally shout revolutionary slogans.
They may even hang more red flags and shout slogans louder than real revolutionary organizations - who can't just talk the talk and not do the work?
Of course, the fact that the Black Panthers in Los Angeles were not revolutionary was not in itself a sign of weakness. Many of them were retired black veterans, fresh from the bloody and fiery purgatory of the Vietnam War. Most were addicted to drugs and suffered from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder). They were volatile and emotionally unstable, unable to find decent work and facing near-homelessness.
Now that there is suddenly an opportunity for them to vent their violence and make a fortune at the same time, these retired black veterans will naturally stand up.
At the same time, they also have ways to obtain military-grade high-powered weapons.
However, individual ferocity and collective combat prowess are ultimately different things. As the ancient Greek philosopher said, "A mob is no more an army than a pile of building materials is a house." These poorly organized black thugs were adept at killing unarmed civilians, and occasionally, when confronted with a tough opponent, they could put up a stout resistance. But if the fighting continued for even a little while, they would disperse.
In contrast, the street battles carefully planned by the Black Panther Party in Detroit were much more tenacious and stubborn.
The Detroit riots in the timeline before Ferry's time travel were simply caused by white police raiding illegal bars and violently arresting black drinkers, which in turn sparked public outrage and racial conflict. Ultimately, due to the incompetence of the sheriff's department, the riots escalated into chaos across Detroit that lasted for several days.
The rioters were just venting their emotions and looting. They had no leadership group and no political goals, and their organization was even worse than that of gangs.
So, when the National Guard was ordered to enter the city and clear the area, the black riots in Detroit were quickly suppressed.
Although thousands of houses were burned down, less than a hundred people died in total. It can be said that the momentum was huge but the actual impact was very small.
But during this time and space, Black workers in Detroit faced soaring prices and stagnant wages. Capitalists withheld their wages under various pretexts, and local government officials turned a blind eye. Add to that the chronic extortion and even arbitrary killings of Black people by white police officers. This spurred awakened Black people to organize frequent strikes and demonstrations, which, after being suppressed, quickly escalated into armed rebellion.
The party was founded by two young black men, Huey Newton and Bobby Seale. Seale appointed himself party chairman, while Newton appointed himself secretary of defense. The former persisted in political struggle in San Francisco, while the latter led a core group to Detroit, mobilizing local blacks to launch an armed struggle.
From the outset of the Detroit riots, Black Panther guerrilla fighters attacked police stations, military barracks, and a strategic material storage warehouse, seizing a considerable amount of weapons and ammunition. They also used industrial equipment within the city to produce large quantities of Molotov cocktails, string bombs, and other crude street-fighting weapons.
The National Guard, who entered the city with tanks to quell the unrest, quickly ran into a dead end in Detroit. The two sides engaged in a chaotic battle on barricades, in factories, and in the slums for two weeks. By the time the fighting ended, one-third of Detroit had been razed, and the remaining neighborhoods were covered in scars of fire. A reporter commented that "Detroit has become the Atlanta Sherman burned a hundred years ago."
During the entire fighting, more than 5,000 people were killed and more than 30,000 were injured on both sides, and automobile production in Detroit came to a standstill.
In addition to Detroit, where the fighting was most intense, other major cities across the United States also saw large-scale riots by blacks and ghettos. From Seattle to Miami, the war was raging everywhere.
Under the exaggerated appearance, it seemed as if a civil war had broken out across the country.
When the Black Panthers and other black political groups, as well as simple criminal gangs, threw the entire United States into chaos, those moderate black political leaders who had been powerful in previous years were shocked and trembling with fear by the bloody and violent confrontation.
In early September, even as the gunfire in Detroit raged, they gathered and issued a call, declaring, "The street marches and demonstrations have reached a point of exhaustion and must end now." "It's time to move from the streets to the conference table."
Next, four prominent leaders of the Black movement jointly signed a statement criticizing the Black Panther Party's crime, violence, and grandstanding, and concluding: "We not only welcome, but we demand the full cooperation of white America."
Martin Luther King, the most famous black leader, played a trick at this time. On the one hand, he agreed with the statement against violence in principle, but on the other hand, he refused to sign it because he did not want to be regarded as a traitor by the lower-class black people.
Of course, no matter how the blacks gang up on each other and scheme against each other, it has nothing to do with Philly in Los Angeles.
What really made him feel embarrassed and dazed was the latest directive that Secretary of Defense McNamara had just issued at the Pentagon: "What? Establishing a... terrorist squad? What kind of Cyberpunk 1966 is this?"
Author's words: PS: There is a kind of adventure that is popular among the American middle class nowadays. They drive to a "dangerous" black community on weekends, buy a fast food meal through the bulletproof glass window, and then take a photo and upload it to social software to show off their bravery.
Alas, when I used to go for a stroll in the urban village when I had nothing to do, I didn’t feel it was dangerous even though the people there were all migrant workers renting houses.
Chapter 378: Terrorist Squad of the 1960s
1966, a turbulent year.
Looking down at the land around the Pacific Ocean from space, one can see a bustling scene of war and flames everywhere.
As the US military brazenly dismembered Indonesia, vast parts of Southeast Asia were plunged into a full-scale war. On a land of three million square kilometers spanning four time zones, hundreds of ethnic groups and thousands of armed forces were fighting each other, creating a scene of thriving vitality and flourishing.
Hundreds of thousands of American troops were scattered across this vast battlefield, like small boats in a storm, dizzy from the hail of bullets.
——Japanese newspapers have already called it the "Second Pacific War" or the "Second Greater East Asia War."
Behind the battlefield, the two heavyweight players, China and the United States, have coincidentally fallen into a frenzy of fighting each other.
In China, the "Ten Years of Turmoil" officially began, and it "peaked at its debut". Armed groups composed of Red Guards and Little Red Army soldiers were everywhere, shouting slogans that were difficult for later generations to understand, fighting each other with guns and cannons, making it seem as if the land of China had relive the era of warlords fighting each other.
In the United States, the black civil rights movement developed from peaceful gatherings to armed struggles, and white conservatives and progressives also launched an all-out confrontation. Hundreds of cities were burning in the riots, tanks took to the streets, and the army entered the cities. It was like a "war outside and war inside", recreating the historical echoes of the Civil War.
The last Civil War was fought because of black people (American propaganda), and the second Civil War was also fought because of black people. Doesn't that make sense? Just like the two world wars in the first half of the 20th century, Germany in Central Europe was the source of the war.
As a result, both sides of the ocean were fighting fiercely over political issues; China and the United States seemed to see their own shadows in each other.
In such a red and trance-like emotional frenzy and raging violence, Secretary of Defense McNamara of the Pentagon suddenly felt under tremendous pressure - there was nothing to be afraid of just a few black thugs. After all, blacks now account for just over 10% of the total population of the United States, and white Americans are still the majority ethnic group. If the white people don't fight among themselves too much, these people of color will not be able to make any big waves.
Even if the black mob can beat the police, they certainly cannot beat the army.
Even among ordinary white people, there were large-scale anti-war movements and frequent protests. But that was ultimately just a normal American political activity, a far cry from "armed overthrow of the government." Since it was a political issue, it should be resolved politically by the White House and Capitol Hill. The Pentagon had no need or power to meddle in internal affairs without authorization, thereby violating the biggest taboo in American politics.
However, state governments and state legislatures, under the pretext of suppressing riots, began to frequently call up the National Guard, and even interfered with the National Guard's personnel arrangements, welfare benefits, officer promotions and job transfers, and even formed more militias, which could not but make the Pentagon vigilant.
Could it be that the governors of these states want to turn themselves into armed vassal states with military power again?
You know, the United States has always had a tradition of local autonomy. At the beginning of its founding, the states believed that a coordinating agency was needed to avoid civil war and give foreign enemies an opportunity to take advantage. Therefore, the confederation system similar to the Russian Commonwealth of Independent States was changed to a slightly closer federal system, and Washington became the first president.
(There was a gap of about ten years between the basic establishment of the United States and Washington's presidency. These ten years were a period of anarchy and chaos.)
Despite the establishment of the federal government, the dispute between "state power" and "federal power" remained an unavoidable topic in the early history of the United States.
At that time, most Americans considered themselves to belong to a state first and to be U.S. citizens secondly - states came before the federation!
Therefore, when the Civil War broke out, the rebellious slogan of the southern states was not "maintaining slavery" but "defending state rights"!
For example, if President Washington was the Emperor of Chang'an, then the governors of each state were the military governors, and the legislators were the military representatives! If the military governors performed poorly, the military representatives would drive them out of office. If the central government dared to infringe on the rights of the military governors, the military representatives would immediately rebel!
However, over time, the United States' centralized power gradually strengthened, while the independence of the states gradually weakened. In particular, the Civil War launched by President Lincoln largely eliminated the risk of states seceding from the Union, uniting the United States through blood and fire. By the time of World War II, the federal government's power had reached an unprecedented level—even stronger than in the 21st century, approaching that of a normal modern state.
While some fragmentation in local administration is unavoidable—after all, governors in each state are elected, not appointed by the central government—the all-important military power has essentially been "returned to the central government." While the National Guard still relies on local finances, it is highly subordinate to the Pentagon's dispatches. States no longer have the ability to freely deploy their own National Guard, let alone rely on them to oppose the central government.
Otherwise, it would have been impossible for Secretary of Defense McNamara to give the order to mobilize tens of thousands of National Guards from California, Hawaii and Nevada to cross the ocean to Vietnam to fight and die - this was almost unimaginable before the Civil War!
At that time, the states in the United States were very cautious about their limited military forces, fearing that they would be dragged away to some hellish place by the federal government and consumed!
Of course, with the efforts of great presidents such as Lincoln and Roosevelt, the United States' "decentralization" work has been basically completed. The National Guard of each state is still "state troops" only in name, and in fact has long given priority to obeying the orders of the Pentagon and the White House.
But the problem is that once the black riots across the United States become long-term and daily, the National Guard of each state will often carry out combat missions within the state, and even have to establish a large-scale militia or militia as a reserve armed force... It seems like the armed separatist movement at the beginning of the founding of the country is being revived!
This is the same principle as the Yellow Turban Rebellion in the late Han Dynasty and the Taiping Rebellion in the late Qing Dynasty, where local vassal states took the opportunity to rise up and become powerful, and refused to obey the central government's orders.
It is obvious that any responsible central government will crack down on this trend of warlords rising up.
However, if the federal government were to seize local military power and prevent the formation of local militias while failing to maintain law and order, it would be utterly irresponsible and could even lead to accusations of deliberately condoning Black rebellion and "having the enemy on Capitol Hill"—an accusation no party could afford.
Therefore, to prevent states from building their own armies and opposing the central government, and to prevent unrest from getting out of hand, the Pentagon needs to establish a highly mobile suppression force dedicated to domestic urban battlefields, to carry out security operations in the United States...
However, such a force used for domestic operations inevitably faces the same challenges as catching rats in a china shop. They must minimize indiscriminate firepower and avoid arbitrarily reducing cities to ruin. At the same time, they must swiftly quell riots, restore order, and mitigate losses. This demands a commander's political foresight and adaptability. Intelligence personnel are more suited to this kind of work than regular military academy graduates.
Even in today's America, the number of experienced intelligence personnel who can lead troops in battle and have rich practical experience is very limited.
So, Jacob Estline, a former commander of the Cuban War, who performed outstandingly in the Los Angeles suppression operation, dared to fight and charge, and had many connections in the CIA and the Pentagon, and was a veteran counter-revolutionary with very rich qualifications, suddenly came to him.
-
"You're going to be successful again, Senior Estelion! The country will never forget talents like you!
From now on, you don't have to salute me first! Secretary of Defense McNamara intends to promote you to the rank of colonel and appoint you as the commanding officer. You will be fully responsible for leading the formation of an experimental "air transport force" at the battalion level, operating primarily by helicopter. This force will be recruited from Asian and Hispanic immigrants and will follow the operational philosophy of the 1st Air Cavalry Division, specifically conducting domestic urban riot suppression operations to address the current domestic unrest.
According to President Johnson's instructions, the unit will be temporarily registered under the name of the FBI in order to obtain nationwide law enforcement authority..."
At a desert military camp outside Los Angeles, Colonel Ferry King smiled as he handed a document to his former superior. Estelline, now working under him, said, "As for why we're organizing a helicopter airlift unit, I'm sure you have some idea."
"It was Secretary of Defense McNamara who wanted to bring the 1st Air Cavalry Division's successful experience in Vietnam to China, right?"
Having experienced the ups and downs of life over the years, Estelion, now somewhat indifferent to fame and fortune, took the document and replied calmly, "The tropical jungles where the Vietcong hide are indeed somewhat similar to the city streets where the blacks hide. Moreover, if a city riot breaks out, the roads in and out of the city will definitely be severely congested."
, there might even be thugs who specifically destroy bridges.
If we want to quickly launch a suppression operation, we can't compete with the fleeing citizens for the road, so rushing in by helicopter is obviously the fastest way."
As we all know, the Vietnam War is called the "Helicopter War". When people in later generations mention the Vietnam War, the first thing they think of is not only the Viet Cong guerrillas in the tropical jungle, but also the densely packed "Huey" helicopters in the sky and the American soldiers strafing the ground with machine guns in the air.
