"Look, we're showing our true colors and haven't drawn our weapons. That's our sincerity. Why don't we sit down and talk?"

Nick Fury once again took charge. Lowering his gun, he asked, "What is there for us to discuss? I've only noticed you're constantly causing trouble and impersonating others."

"I didn't even bother asking you whether Agent Kohler was still alive. You want to talk now because you have the majority and are sure of victory, so we have to follow your instructions."

Faced with the doubt, General Talos nodded slightly, and most of the Skrulls transformed into human form again and walked out of the house. They no longer stayed in the house, which was oppressive to everyone.

As for the remaining Skrull, she was smaller and had feminine features. General Talos said, "This is our medical officer. Would you like her to examine the girl's injuries?"

"No need!" Maria Rambeau still couldn't trust the Skrulls, so she just protected her children.

General Talos chose the same thing as Henry, not to offer his help. He also let the short Skrull leave the house and faced Nick Fury and his men alone.

"I must emphasize first that unless under special circumstances, we will not kill the people we imitate. So Agent Kohler of S.H.I.E.L.D. is still alive, but he has a bump on his head. He should have returned to S.H.I.E.L.D. by now.

"And I have nothing to discuss with you humans, but with Vers... is that your name now? Or Carol Danvers, there is room for conversation between us.

"I believe you're also very interested in the accident that happened six years ago. I happen to have a live recording of that accident, from... well, what you humans call a black box."

Maria Rambo, distracted by the Skrulls, said in surprise, "Impossible! The higher-ups said nothing was left from the accident. Not even the black box."

General Talos, however, said with a hint of pride, "That's what they told you. But our racial talents allow me to enter places that are difficult for many people to enter, and obtain things that others cannot obtain."

General Talos pulled a CD from his chest. "This recording is incredibly valuable. Why not give it a listen? For example, it reveals that we're all victims of the Kree, not enemies."

Nick Fury didn't make the decision for Fuss, he just looked at the woman who called herself a Kree Star Trooper.

Firth herself struggled. “Why should I believe anything you say?” she asked.

"That depends on whether you're curious about this whole thing. If you weren't curious at all, why would you even bother tracking Project Pegasus? Wouldn't it be better to just report our location and have a large force come and strangle us?"

"Why are you doing all this? What are you looking for?"

General Talos said: "Dr. Wendy Lawson is actually the defected Kree scientist, Ma-Vell. She realized she was fighting an unjust war and decided to support the Skrulls.

"Her way of showing support was to research a hyperdrive, hoping to lead the remaining Skrulls out of the clutches of the Kree Empire. So I said, I'm doing all this to continue the survival of my race.

"As for why she chose this backward planet for research, I have no idea at this time. But I am certain of one thing: Ma-Vell, aka Dr. Lawson, is willing to trust you, so I choose to trust you too. Please don't betray this trust."

One of the main reasons why Firth abandoned his main mission and pursued the answers in his heart was Dr. Wendy Lawson.

Her commander in the Kree Star Troopers, Yon-Rogg, once said that when everyone meets the Supreme Wisdom, the image they see is the person who is most important to them and whom they respect the most.

But all along, Firth had no idea who the old woman with silver hair was or what she meant to her.

Until the Skrull machine extracted her memory, causing her to occasionally flash some unfamiliar memory fragments, among which was the trace of Dr. Lawson.

So, rather than defeating the Skrulls, Fors wanted to know the truth behind the accident six years ago. He would understand the situation first, and then he could defeat the Skrulls if he wanted to.

But before Forth could reply, an orange cat suddenly ran out, walked around the feet of several people, and headed towards the Skrulls.

This close approach instantly broke the defense of this confident man. Not only did he retreat several steps, but he also retreated to the wall. General Talos shouted in despair, "Oh, God! Get this guy away from me! Don't come over here!"

Firth picked up the orange cat, held it to his chest, and approached General Talos like he was bullying him. "Are you afraid of a cat? That tiger over there is more worthy of your fear, okay?"

"This thing isn't a cat, it's a primordial beast."

"Ha, the Devourer!" An unfamiliar term made everyone look at the Skrull with mocking eyes. He had maintained an arrogant attitude before, but now he was in a state of collapse.

Chapter 362: Black Box Revealed

The Skrulls' collapsing momentum made everyone consciously regain some control.

Fuss looked at the mother who had finished bandaging Monica and asked, "Maria, do you have a machine that can play that thing?"

General Talos cautiously reminded: "It's best to use a computer. The files on this CD are not ordinary audio tracks. It's useless to use an ordinary player." But he didn't dare to get too close to the woman holding the Devourer.

Maria Rambeau, packing her first aid kit, looked at the Skrulls angrily. She finally compromised and said, "Yes, I have the latest computers in my studio. I can see if I can play the files on the disc."

The truth of six years ago was something not only the Skrulls wanted to know, but also Forth, and even Maria Rambo, who had lost her best friend. Maria Rambo was naturally curious about what was recorded on the black box that her superiors had said was destroyed.

As for the vengeance of my daughter being bitten, I could put it aside for now. It wasn't that I wouldn't settle the score, it was just that I would leave it for later.

Everyone arrived at a small house separate from the main house. Besides a room filled with tools and supplies, there was also a quieter room with a modern computer running Windows 95 on a table.

While waiting for the filming to start, Maria Rambeau took her daughter to a chair outside the studio and took out a Walkman and headphones.

The girl with the afro hadn't learned the lesson from the tiger bite and loudly demanded, "Why can't I listen along? I want to know what happened, too."

"No room for negotiation. If this is classified information, simply hearing it would be a crime. Don't think that just because you're young, violating confidentiality regulations is fine. This isn't like a normal crime; there's no protection for minors."

"Okay." Monica Rambeau was not the kind of child who would insist on making trouble. With her mother's help, she put on her headphones and listened to the music.

As a retired Air Force pilot who had participated in classified programs, Maria Rambo was quite sensitive to such matters. She would not lose her sensitivity just because she was retired.

Besides protecting her own daughter, she also looked at others, and the meaning in her eyes was self-evident.

Henry was the first to withdraw. "I'm just a civilian, without any classified clearance. I'll wait outside." He then led Katie away from the studio, to a shaded area, where they faced the Skrulls, disguised as humans once again.

Barbara Morse, a trainee agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., wasn't quite sure of her place in the world. It was Nick Fury who finally gave her the instructions.

"Bobby, keep an eye on those Skrulls. If they do anything untoward, just shoot them. I can hear gunfire from inside."

"Okay, sir." Barbara didn't run to stand with Henry, but stayed by the pillar outside the studio porch. In addition to keeping an eye on the Skrulls, she also protected the studio behind her and the black girl sitting outside.

Henry was able to leave so carefree because, of course, his super hearing allowed him to hear everything going on in the studio. He didn't need to stay inside, which would have given rise to gossip and even risked violating confidentiality laws.

The fact that I have super hearing hasn't been revealed yet. It would be a shame not to make good use of it.

The black box recording is actually a recording of Carol Danvers flying an experimental aircraft on a test flight with Dr. Wendy Lawson in the co-pilot seat, and the two of them taking the final flight on the day of the accident.

Even after the crash, because the machine did not stop working, any sound close to the microphone was recorded.

There are so many things that go against common sense, such as Dr. Wendy Lawson's blue blood and the fact that they were pursued by alien spacecraft outside the atmosphere. It's no wonder that Air Force accident investigators are hesitant to release the black box recordings.

However, for the person involved, when he heard what he had said, the memory of that past event also surfaced in his mind, and it also triggered more information.

Like who killed Dr. Wendy Lawson, why was he seriously injured and unconscious, what important things had he forgotten, and who was the culprit?

All of this in retrospect impacted her outlook on life that she had built up over the past six years. She was not a proud Kree warrior, she was not even a Kree, but a native of Earth, a native of a backward planet.

For Vers... or Carol Danvers, she didn't even know whether the collapse of the worldview she had believed in for the past six years was more serious, or being deceived and exploited by the Kree was more serious.

The lost female warrior rushed out of the studio, as if she wanted to roar to the sky, but the pent-up anger in her chest prevented her from roaring.

The Skrull general who followed him out was waiting for just such an opportunity. The enemy of my enemy is my friend; this principle applies everywhere, even in the universe.

He tried hard to persuade Lieutenant Carol Danvers, who had regained her memory, to stand on the same side with them. This was the biggest reason why he did not hesitate to reveal his true form and face this group of humans.

"So, what exactly do you want me to do? You heard it too. The hyperdrive was destroyed. It exploded. There's nothing left."

Carol Danvers, already distracted, was being harassed by a group of people she had initially considered her enemies. She showed excellent self-control by not unleashing a photon blast to send them to meet their ancestors, not to mention switching sides.

General Talos ultimately knew more than these Earthlings. "No, only the hyperdrive was destroyed. But the hyperdrive's core is stored elsewhere. That's where I'm looking."

"If you were to obtain something like that, wouldn't you use it in war? Just like the planet Tofa, it became a shabby ruin, with its civilization completely destroyed."

"No! That wasn't us. That was done by Ronan the Accuser, to eliminate us. We were just refugees, struggling to survive on Torfa."

"You're talking nonsense..."

General Talos spoke tenderly. "I don't know what you heard from the Kree. But our goal has always been one and only: to find the hyperdrive that Dr. Wendy Lawson is researching."

"Then we'll take our people scattered across the galaxy and flee to a place where the Kree can't find us, and live there in peace and stability. It could be outside the Milky Way, in another galaxy far away, or even in another universe. Anywhere is fine."

Chapter 363 The Loser Is Not the Victim

What really shook Carol Danvers was the words of her best friend, more than the Skrulls' annoying persuasion.

Maria Rambo said, "You remember? The doctor once said that what she studied was not for use in war, but to end war."

General Talos quickly chimed in, "That's right. Ms. Ma Will, or Dr. Lawson as you call her, agrees with this, and that's why she's helping us."

"You yourself are well aware of the Kree's ways. At least when I said that the tragedy on Torfa was caused by Ronan the Accuser, you did not refute me. Because you know that kind of thing, the Kree are indeed capable of doing it.

"If you're willing to trust Dr. Lawson, why not try trusting us? Ms. Rambo, I also want to thank you for speaking frankly and for not letting your daughter's situation cloud your judgment.

"Of course, I offer my deepest apologies for the girl's injuries. She wasn't our real target. If there's anything we can do to make amends, please feel free to speak up."

In order to win over Carol Danvers, the Skrull general has been very humble.

Even Maria Rambeau, who should have been angry about her daughter's injury, inexplicably changed her stance and chose to support the Skrulls in this matter. Regardless of whether she still wanted to settle the score with the Skrulls for her daughter.

Perhaps the fact that the Kree had deceived and exploited her best friend, and had made her believe he had been dead for six years, occupied a greater place in her heart.

I don't know what Nick Fury was thinking. He didn't want to interfere with Carol Danvers' actions, so he just let others persuade her.

His attitude also influenced Barbara's, causing this girl, fresh out of society, to approach the Kryptonian whose identity had been exposed, with excitement.

"Henry, the Skrulls are now like refugees from space, being driven everywhere. The Kree, on the other hand, are committing atrocities everywhere and brainwashing and controlling Lieutenant Danvers. It seems we have to help the Skrulls and fight the Kree together. Will you come too?"

Sitting on the grass with his back against the tree trunk, Henry was enjoying the sunshine coming through the gaps in the shade while stroking Katie's nipples.

Hearing the girl's invitation, he simply stood up, rubbed his butt, and asked in return: "Why do we want to join this war that doesn't belong to us?"

Nick Fury came over and answered Henry's question. "Because we've been forced into this. If Earth doesn't have the ability to defeat both sides, then we can only choose to help one side and resist the other."

Nick Fury, Barbara, and Henry's conversation also attracted others to come closer. Even Carol Danvers was curious whether the man with the tiger would join them.

This isn't to say we're surprised by the enemy's combat power. Earth's gunpowder weapons can't penetrate them, but there are far more powerful individual weapons in the universe that can easily penetrate the defenses of backward civilizations that believe they're invincible.

But Henry didn't think of putting on a good face when he saw the Skrulls approaching. "Ms. Firth... well, or rather, Ms. Danvers."

"Just call me Carol."

"It seems you've accepted your new identity, or rather, restored your original one. But I wonder how much you remember about Earth. Do you still remember the history of World War II?"

"World War II?"

"World War II, which took place from 1939 to 1945, involved 61 countries and 20 billion people, with approximately 1.1 million directly involved. It was the largest and most heavily-populated war in Earth's history."

Carol Danvers frowned, then relaxed. "I remember. But why did you bring it up?"

"At the end of the war, Berlin, Germany, and Tokyo, Japan, were bombed by the Allies. Ultimately, these two Axis powers surrendered and became the defeated nations of World War II. Do you think the Germans and Japanese deserve sympathy?"

"Of course not! Whether it was the European battlefield or the East Asian battlefield, their aggressive actions caused countless lives and economic losses. Why should we sympathize with these perpetrators?"

"Yeah. That's my answer too." Henry shrugged indifferently.

"Kryptonian, what are you trying to imply?" General Talos said angrily, not forgetting to emphasize the fact that Henry was not an Earthling either. "Are you trying to say that the suffering endured by my people and my race is false?"

Henry responded, "I'm not saying those are false, I just don't know if you're innocent or if you deserved what you said."

General Talos was equally indignant. "I can tell you responsibly that this war started because the Kree coveted Skrull technology. After stealing our starship and weapons technology, they turned around and invaded us."

"Until now, our homeland has been destroyed, our people have been killed, and the Kree have not even spared those kind-hearted people who helped us. Even towards those innocent planets and forces, their attitude is one of conquest, not peace.

"Look at your people. Oh, not your people, but look at what happened to Lieutenant Danvers. You don't think other Earthlings will be treated well by the Kree.

"If you don't resist, the fate of the Skrulls today will be the fate of the Earthlings tomorrow. Any normal person should not have any wrong expectations of that militaristic country."

Henry's hands erupted in applause, more mocking than positive. "Well, well said. Carol, you've served in the Kree army. Do you know the reason for this war?"

There was a struggle in her heart, not knowing whether to say the words that she no longer believed in. But Carol Danvers finally chose to speak.

"The Skrulls believe it is their duty to conquer and rule every planet in the universe in order to bring peace. So they use their racial talents to continuously invade and overthrow the original regimes of planets from within.

"Ultimately, colonization or... destruction. And the Kree are the saviors against all of this. Are you trying to tell me that the Kree propaganda is true?"

Henry said, "Of course I don't know anything about this. I only know that this is not my war."

General Talos said excitedly: "I admit that I did some terrible things in this war. But so what. What is happening now is that the Skrulls are being driven away and killed like insects. It is the Kree who did all this."

Henry was not afraid of the other party's momentum at all, but said tit for tat: "You were defeated and were driven away by the Cree people like a stray dog, so you have reason to resist.

"Ms. Carol Danvers was once brainwashed and controlled by the Kree, so it's only natural that she would rebel after regaining consciousness. What about me?"

Chapter 364 Parting ways

The dissatisfaction that had been accumulating for a long time finally burst out in one breath, and Henry was just about to point at the other person's nose and curse.

"Have you ever thought about the reason why I was involved in this matter? If you Skrulls hadn't inexplicably infiltrated Bobby's organization and framed me, I would be almost ready to leave my job at Stark Films now.

"Do I have a grudge against the Kree? No, you're my problem. After all this mess you've made, I don't know if I can ever go back to my normal life.

"What kind of impact will your previous attempt to frame me have? And what kind of changes will my life bring after my Kryptonian identity, which I don't even know, is exposed?

"Have you ever considered these things for me? Of course not. A madman like Krypton, without an organization or backing, is like a stone on the side of the road. Just pick it up and throw it into the river."

Resisting the urge to smash his opponent's head with a punch, Henry stepped back. His expression was unhappy as he said, "Since you've decided to cooperate, then I have no business doing this. I solemnly declare that I have no interest in hindering your actions."

"I didn't even know what Skrulls, Kree, or Kryptonians were at first. These have nothing to do with me. So please don't bother me anymore. Goodbye."
