The Fourth Scourge of Star Wars

#2494 - The Armaments of the Fourth Civilization [UAVs]

Vulture-class starfighter

The Vulture Droid Fighter is undoubtedly the most numerous type of robot fighter in the galaxy. This fighter was designed and manufactured by the Haor Chall Engineering Corporation under the Trade Federation. It is 3.6 meters long and has a wingspan of 6.96 meters. It is an ultra-light fighter.

This type of fighter is very cheap, costing only 40,000 credit points per unit, which is equivalent to one-third of the price of other fighters in service at the same time. If the factors of navigation robots and pilots are added, it is extremely cheap.

However, because of this, the combat AI carried by the vulture robot fighter is not considered to be smart, and most of the time their combat behavior is very mechanical and rigid. However, the huge number makes up for this. The vulture robot fighter generally adopts a large formation combat method, each formation has 10 to 20 fighters, and uses intensive attacks to overwhelm the enemy.

Another big advantage of the vulture robot fighter is that their directional wings can be used as four legs in land mode, allowing them to walk on the ground. Don't underestimate this, it means they can take off in almost any environment.

The Fourth Civilization introduced vulture robot fighters very early on, and later introduced a production line for fighter jets to produce them on their own. For a long time, the Fourth Civilization's air combat mode was to use a large number of vulture robot fighters in conjunction with ghost fighters, with the ratio of the two being about 1:5. All along, the Fourth Civilization has more than 200,000 vulture robot fighters.

Even now, although the Vulture Robot Fighter is no longer in service in the frontline navy of the Fourth Civilization, it still exists in large numbers in escort fleets and planetary defense forces. They are very popular because of their low price, high quality, large number, and basically no need for airport support. You can even hide them in caves, hang them outside cargo ships, or even stuff them into cargo holds.

Like the B-1 combat robot, the main reason why the Vulture robot fighter continues to serve without many modernization changes is that its current performance is sufficient. Although further improvements can improve combat capabilities, they will also increase costs, which is not appropriate.

Now, with the galactic uprising now underway, those within the Fourth Civilization will increasingly face Vulture droids, and the fighter's notoriety will continue.

Hyena-class Droid Fighter/Bomber

The Coyote Robot Fighter-Bomber is an improved model of the Vulture Robot Fighter made by Hauer-Char Engine Engineering Company. This fighter-bomber is 12.48 meters long in flight state, much larger than the Vulture Robot Fighter, but still a light aircraft.

The Coyote Robot Fighter-Bomber was originally designed to cooperate with the Vulture Robot Fighter in combat. It is equipped with concussion missiles, proton torpedoes and heavy laser cannons to make up for the Vulture Robot Fighter's lack of firepower.

They have done this very well. Not only are their firepower strong, but their combat AI has also been greatly upgraded. They know how to use the vulture robot fighter as a shield to cover themselves and fly to the weak points of the enemy ship to launch unexpected attacks. At the same time, when encountering enemy fighters, their good maneuverability also gives them certain air combat capabilities.

The Coyote robot fighter-bombers can also split their wings to walk on four legs, which allows them to take off and land on most terrains, making them very flexible.

During the Clone Wars, the few battles in which the Coyote droid fighter-bombers saw action caused very serious damage to the Galactic Republic. But why were they 'few' battles?

Because the Coyote robot fighter-bomber costs as much as 120,000 credit points and inherits the fragile structure of the Vulture robot fighter, it suffers heavy losses every time it goes into battle, which makes it difficult for the economically strapped Independent System Confederation to afford it.

The Fourth Civilization also introduced the Coyote robot fighter-bomber, but did not introduce a production line. There are still thousands of these fighters still active in the defense forces of some important planets.

Droid tri-fighters

The Tri-Droid Fighter is an advanced air superiority droid fighter designed and manufactured by Korra Corporation. This fighter is 5.4 meters long and is a light fighter that began to be used in the late Clone Wars.

The Triad is designed to hunt enemy fighters, equipped with concussion missiles and laser cannons, and its combat AI is also very advanced and highly autonomous. What's more valuable is that this fighter costs the same as the Vulture, only 40,000 credits.

However, the Tri-Robot Fighter was not used on a large scale in the Confederacy of Independent Systems, mainly because in the later stages of the war, they no longer had the ability to lay out too many production lines.

The Fourth Civilization introduced the Tri-Robot Fighter and production line, but not many were produced. To date, only a few thousand are in service, mainly used to protect the Coyote Robot Fighter-Bombers.

The reason why it is not mass-produced is that compared to the triple-robot fighters that specialize in air defense, the Fourth Civilization military and local defense forces prefer the vulture robot fighters that can complete both air and ground missions.

It is worth mentioning that after the collapse of the Confederation of Independent Systems, the production line of the Tri-Union Robot Fighter was lost, and now they can even be seen in some rebel forces.

F-99 Wombat UAV (Fd Combat Air Vehicle)

Unlike robot fighters, the 11.7-meter-long F-99 Wombat drone is not an autonomous unmanned fighter, but a remote-controlled fighter. This drone is produced and built by Halo Weapon Systems, a subsidiary of the Fourth Civilization.

Compared with the Vulture robot fighter, the F-99 Wombat UAV has far better maneuverability and ammunition carrying capacity. As a reconnaissance and strike drone, it performs better in battlefields with harsh electromagnetic environments. After all, there is a record of the Vulture robot fighter being hacked on the battlefield and then turned to shoot friendly forces.

At present, the Fourth Civilization military uses F-99 Wombat drones more for reconnaissance operations, and harasses the enemy after achieving results, and does not expect this drone to establish much advantage on the battlefield. Therefore, although the production of Wombat drones is not large, almost all Fourth Civilization naval warships will carry some for reconnaissance missions. In order to meet the needs of reconnaissance, Fourth Civilization scientists have also installed hyperspace engines on reconnaissance aircraft, allowing them to perform short-distance hyperspace jumps.

Acolyte

The Acolyte series of drones are produced by the Fourth Group. This type of drone uses a centralized computer remote control mode, so it can be deployed in clusters.

However, in the early wars, the Fourth Civilization military preferred the Vulture Robot fighters, and the Acolyte UAV was in an awkward position. Later, after the Fourth Group upgraded and built the Acolyte II UAV, it faced competition from the Protoss-produced Swarm UAVs. Therefore, the orders for the Acolyte series UAVs were very limited. The only advantage was that the Vulture Robot fighters could not handle the situation, and there was no need to specially mobilize the Swarm UAVs.

However, there are still many drone motherships in the Fourth Civilization Army, and the Fourth Group has no intention of giving up on this demand. They are preparing to launch more advanced drones to meet the requirements.

Mining Drone

The latest novel is published first on Liu9shuba!

If we were to say which drone was the first to be equipped by the Fourth Civilization, it was actually this type of mining drone.

The mining drone is developed and produced by the United Mining Group. It has a simple structure and is basically an unmanned mining machine with four mechanical arms over 30 meters long. However, it has always played an important role in the deep space mining field of the United Mining Group.

It can be said that a large part of the industrial production capacity of the early Fourth Civilization came from the accumulation of a large number of mining drones.

Interceptor

The real king of air combat of the Fourth Civilization is not the Sabre fighter or the Wraith fighter, but the Swarm Interceptor - an unmanned fighter built by the Protoss.

There are currently two models of swarm interceptors. The Swarm I model is 1.5 meters long and has been basically eliminated. The currently equipped Swarm II model is 3 meters long.

Like the Acolyte series drones, the Swarm Interceptor uses a centralized remote control mode and can directly obtain energy and shields from the mothership remotely. This technology allows the Swarm Interceptor to use almost all of its volume on the two sets of engines. The result is that the Swarm Interceptor looks like a telescope.

But unlike its strange shape, this weapon built by the Protoss has a very terrifying combat capability. It is fast, flexible, has strong firepower, and is very intelligent to control. Currently, no air force in the galaxy can match it.

However, the only drawback is that the Swarm Interceptor can only be controlled by the Force. Because they were originally designed for the Protoss's high-level Templars, who use psychic power to pilot warships and control drones. Therefore, in this universe, using the Force is the only option.

The Swarm II interceptor is not yet a complete version built by the Protoss, but it has already put great pressure on the operator. Currently, only the Archon-class aircraft carrier is capable of using this drone. On the Archon-class aircraft carrier, some Dark Jedi captured by the Fourth Civilization were connected to the central computer and made into "wetware" to control the Swarm Interceptor.

According to the phase engineers of the Protoss, if the full version of the swarm interceptor is to be put into battle, it can only be operated by the Protoss's high-level Templars, but this also means that the high-level Templars need to go deep into the front-line battlefield. At present, the Protoss has not made up its mind whether to get involved so deeply in this war.
