#919 - The Difficult God of Naboo

"We won!"

Robin cheered, truthfully, the pressure from that magician just now was immense. Perhaps he finally understood why Batman liked to make so many plans.

When facing these superhumans, ordinary people like them really needed to make a lot of preparations.

"It's not time to be happy yet, Robin," Zatanna poured cold water on him. "Remember what I said? Nabu might not give up Kid Flash's body."

Robin hadn't actually forgotten, but the joy of victory had temporarily pushed the problem to the back of his mind.

Now, reminded by Zatanna, Robin brought the problem to the forefront. He remembered that Kent Nelson had said before that he had a way to make Nabu give up Kid Flash's body, but...

Robin turned his head. Kent Nelson's body was right behind them. Zatanna used magic to conjure two blankets and wrapped him up.

"It would have been great to ask Kent Nelson about the solution just now," Robin scratched his head. "He's dealt with Nabu for so long, he might really have a way to get Kid Flash to take off the helmet."

"But now it looks like we can only think of another way ourselves."

Zatanna didn't quite agree with Robin's judgment, because the battle had ended some time ago, but Doctor Fate hadn't made any moves.

Obviously, something they didn't know was happening inside the Helmet of Fate, so all they could do now was wait. After all, if Doctor Fate, the person in charge, couldn't hear them, it was useless even if they spoke.

Just as Zatanna thought, Kent and Wally were indeed arguing with Nabu inside the helmet.

"Let this child go, Nabu," Kent's eyes showed a hint of pleading. "His soul belongs to the realm of science. He is favored by the Speed Force and is not inferior to our magical realm."

"You are right," Nabu responded. "But this world has been without Doctor Fate for too long. You have also seen, Kent, that the Lords of Chaos even swaggered into the Tower of Fate."

"And you, the current Doctor Fate, should have stopped Him, but you avoided the responsibility you should have shouldered because of your own selfish desires. The helmet was almost in the hands of our enemies."

Kent was speechless. Nabu was right. If it weren't for him, Klarion wouldn't be so arrogant. Everything now was his own fault.

"This child is not the right candidate," Kent tried to argue. "We will find a way to help you find the right candidate, ensuring you get the best application."

"Rejected," Nabu said coldly. "Decades of neglect have reduced your credibility with me to freezing point. I no longer believe any of your guarantees."

"Before you say these words, think about what you have done before. Don't think that I will still believe your lies like I did ten years ago."

"I can stay here with you," Kent said in a low voice. "My soul can serve you until the next successor is found, no matter how long it takes."

This was the highest price Kent could offer. He gave up the chance to find his beloved, only to ask Nabu to let Wally go, but obviously, this condition was not enough in Nabu's eyes.

"Take a good look at your position, Kent. The reason you can still stay here and negotiate with me is because I have taken your soul into the helmet, which prevented you from being discovered and taken away by the Lords of Chaos."

"You have fought against Him for more than half a century with my help. I believe He would be very willing to torture your soul after your death. I helped you escape the sea of suffering. You are not qualified to negotiate with me."

"But," Nabu changed his tone. "Considering that you have fought for Order against Chaos for so many years, I can allow this child to have one week of freedom every year. During that time, he can control his own body."

Kent wanted to argue, but Wally stopped him.

"Forget it, Kent Nelson," Wally sighed. "One week a year is not bad. You've already done enough for me."

"No, Wally!" Kent shook his head. "I know what you're thinking. You're thinking of throwing away the helmet when you have your own consciousness and hiding as far away as possible."

Wally was stunned when he heard Kent's words, and then quickly tried to cover the latter's mouth. Obviously, that's what he was thinking.

Kent dodged Wally's attack, shook his head, and said, "You're too naive, Wally. Do you think Nabu wouldn't think of what you thought of? The Lord of Order has existed for longer than human history."

"Moreover, I have been fighting wits with Nabu for a long time trying to take off the helmet," Kent said with embarrassment. "Your idea was one of the first methods I used."

Wally's body stiffened upon hearing this. Kent sighed again and apologized to him.

"This is my fault, child. If I hadn't put the helmet on you, you wouldn't be in such a predicament."

"There's nothing that can be done about it, Kent Nelson," Wally could only sigh. They had already exchanged a wave of information while Doctor Fate was fighting, and now he knew the whole story.

"Don't blame yourself too much. If you had let me choose myself in that situation, I would have put on the helmet too. Believe me, I'm telling the truth."

"Have you decided?" Nabu interrupted the conversation between the two. "Kent, have you decided to stay with this child?"

Kent glanced at Wally, and finally nodded and said, "I am willing to stay with him, but you must also abide by your promise."

Kent felt that he should first get as many favorable conditions as possible, and then let the Justice League think of a way, after all, he was really at his wit's end now.

"Now I can only hope for Batman and the others," Kent sighed.

Reminded by Kent, Wally remembered that there was a resourceful guy in the Justice League. If it was Batman, maybe he could really save him.

The conversation between the two was not hidden from Nabu. Anyway, everyone present knew each other's psychological state very well, and there was no need to avoid suspicion.

"Mister Yang Le?"

"Yes! I am!"
