Super Lord of the Rings

Chapter 74 [American Yao Name]

The last game left in the Big Ten will enter the offseason, and the Wolverines' opponent is the Ohio State University Buckeyes in an away game.

Ohio State University and University of Michigan have always been sworn enemies. Their football teams are both traditional NCAA teams with a long history, many honors and fanatical fans.

The almost annual football match between them has become the most famous match in the NCAA. In the 2000 ESPN selection, the college football derby between the Buckeyes and the Wolverines even surpassed many professional derby matches, and was selected as the most classic rivalry in North America.

The Buckeyes are not weak in basketball either. They tied for the regular season championship with three teams last season, which should not be underestimated. They won the 1960 championship and entered the NCAA championship 20 times.

The Buckeyes currently have a starting lineup of four fourth-year players who are well-coordinated and experienced. Point guard Marrs Lawrence, shooting guard Solomon Kelly, small forward Lance Wodehouse, and power forward Anthony London.

Their center is the much-watched second-year white Jonathan Morgan.

Jonathan, who is less than 20 years old, currently has a height of 225cm and a wingspan of 237cm. He is the tallest player in the NCAA. His height is comparable to that of Yao Ming, who is 226cm, but Yao Ming's wingspan is only 221cm.

For this reason, Jonathan was called "American Yao Ming" by fans. He has many advantages on the basketball court. He can dunk directly with just a light tiptoe, which shows his lethality inside.

He needs to lose weight, though, and moves too slowly. And he can only shoot and dunk under the basket at present, and he doesn't have much offensive skills. These are far worse than Yao Ming.

On December 11, the Buckeyes' home court was packed.

The weather is getting colder, but people's hearts are getting hotter and hotter. Many people have already started preparing for Christmas. The final game of the first half of the Big Ten is an important source of entertainment for the locals.

When Jonathan played, the home fans gave him the warmest applause. Many people hoped that he could reach the level of Yao Ming, and regarded him as a potential new star who might play in the NBA.

Jonathan did a good job this season, averaging 8.8 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.

However, David didn't care about Jonathan, and even looked down on him.

He arranged tactics and said: "Chris, you withdraw from the basket this time and look for opportunities outside. Jonathan must only be good at defending the inside. His movement speed is very slow. We must seize this weakness and pass the ball to Wang after the screen. Luke starts, take advantage of your speed, and you need to play a fast break to grab rebounds from the backcourt."

David reminded again: "Pay attention to observing the running position of your teammates during the counterattack. If the king is empty, pass it to him as soon as possible."

Larry Powell, starting for the first time this season, is quick and good at playing the fast break. The strikers are Wang Jun and Harris, and there is only one Kaman inside, with one big and four small.

Anthony London is 208cm tall and weighs 107kg. He can play two positions inside, and he is not fast. David arranged the offense to target weaknesses, and the Buckeyes were slow to start.

During the warm-up, Wang Jun used the shooting training card 2, which is much better than the previous one-hour training, mainly because it can accumulate time and be turned on and off freely.

He took a few shots to find his touch and strengthen his memory when he was prompted. When the game is about to start, he immediately closes the training, how much strength should be used for the shot, and the approximate time of the shot is already known.

Jonathan has an obvious height advantage, but his jumping ability is really not very good. The jump ball lost to Kaman, and the Wolverines attacked first.

The players opened up, and after passing the ball a few times, it was determined that the opponent's formation was a 32-zone defense, with two strong men guarding the bottom line. Wang Jun stood from the left corner for a while, observed the situation and then moved to the middle.

The height of power forward Anthony made it impossible to defend Wang Jun close to him. He received the pass without any effort.

Kaman blocked the shooting guard Solomon with a 60-degree screen on the left. Wang Jun held the ball out of the three-point line and turned around for a jump shot near the center.

Big center Jonathan stood at the free throw line and stretched out his hand, but it didn't help.

Unless he wants to say to Wang Jun: "Come back, come back, wandering wanderer." It's a good gesture to reach out like this.

Wang Jun's movements are standard, the arc of the ball is perfect, and it enters the net hollowly. 3 to 0.

The Buckeyes attack and the ball passes to power forward Anthony.

Harrison was in a tragedy. He was tall and not good at confrontation.

David arranged this for Wang Jun's sake, speeding up the pace to make it easier for him to scan data. Bobby also struggled to defend Anthony alone last season. He asked Harris to go forward if Kaman helped the opponent under the basket.

This time, Harris failed to go forward, and Kaman failed to make up in time. Anthony turned around and hit the board to score. 3 to 2.

The Wolverines attacked, and Wang Jun pulled to the perimeter to pick and roll for Luke.

This cooperation was not arranged by the coach. Wang Jun saw that the opponent's point guard, Lawrence, was only about 175cm tall and thinner than Luke, so he made a temporary decision.

Luke broke through the middle with the ball at a very fast speed. Solomon quickly switched defenses, and Wang Jun ran 50 degrees to the right to widen the distance.

Luke attracted Anthony to defend again, and the ball was split to the side. Wang Jun squeezed away Lawrence to catch the ball and made an emergency stop jump shot. Lawrence, who was 175 cm, lost his position, just stretched out his hand, and the ball bounced into the frame. 6 to 2.

The Buckeyes still threw a lob to Anthony. After attracting Kaman's defense, Anthony made an inside pass to Jonathan. "American Yao Ming" tipped his toes and easily dunked with one hand. 6 to 4.

The Wolverines attacked, Wang Jun ran back from the bottom line on the right side and received the pass, and Kaman blocked Solomon with a screen. Neither Anthony nor Jonathan Twin Towers defended out of the penalty area.

These two people are used to zone defense. Even if the coach told them to guard Wang Jun well, they thought it was the task of outside players. Moreover, Kaman ran to the left to cover, and Jonathan didn't know whether to let Harris chase Kaman completely, or to stand in his position and wait for the opponent to attack.

The biggest difference between zone defense and man-marking is that man-marking is the ultimate goal of preventing people, while zone defense is the ultimate goal of defending the ball.

The 3-2 zone defense is generally used to deal with the opponent's outside shooters, because it can provide strong defense against the top of the arc and 45-degree three-pointers, and its expanded range of defense can launch fast breaks for stealing passes Also very beneficial. However, the three-pointers on both sides and the bottom line and the area above the small penalty area below the free throw line are blind spots for its prevention.

All five of the Wolverines withdrew, giving up the competition for the penalty area, and what they were attacking was the weakness of the two big men who moved slowly.

Wang Jun took out the three-point line, turned around 60 degrees on the right side and made a jump shot. Solomon failed to bypass Kaman, which was the open space.

Wang Jun showed his prowess in the playground, coupled with his performance of 40+ points in the game, his confidence reached the peak, and he will not miss such an opportunity.

The ball drew a perfect arc, hollowed into the net, and swiped!

Wang Jun scored three three-pointers in a row, 9 to 4.

Buckeyes coach Edgar Pearson stood up on the sidelines and yelled "change positions" to the players on the field. On the offensive end, they have an advantage in confrontation, but they only scored two points from the inside. The Wolverines missed the three-pointer as soon as they came up, and the situation was unfavorable.
