Chapter 86: Thoughts on Going Live
I suddenly received a notification from my editor that the book will go live tomorrow, probably around noon.
The editor said I should write some thoughts on going live, so I'll take up a little of everyone's time to say thank you!
First, regarding going live.
To be honest, I'm a little dazed. Going live came too suddenly, and I wasn't prepared at all. I don't have any drafts. I thought it would be a while yet o (╥﹏╥) o
But going live waits for no one, so I can only hurry and rush the manuscript, striving for 4 chapters tomorrow!
Secondly, about updates.
Actually, my typing speed isn't slow. I can write a thousand words in an hour! It's just that researching takes a lot of time. Sometimes, even a few keywords in a dialogue require a lot of research.
This is even after collecting a lot of reference books before starting the book, as well as some memoirs from that year. There are probably hundreds of thousands of words of information and hundreds of pictures. I did a lot of preparation work, otherwise, it would be even slower.
After all, what people look for in stories set in that era is a sense of authenticity. Too many mistakes and omissions will greatly affect the reading experience.
So here, I must mention the third point, about the content.
In the process of finding information, I discovered a very interesting objective fact: some things were relatively consistent across the country back then, but in different places, there might be completely opposite situations.
For example, some places prohibited killing cattle, while others had the habit of eating beef. Apart from the commune's draught cattle, which could not be slaughtered, they would specifically raise beef cattle and also sell some old, sick, or dead draught cattle.
Another example is schooling. At that time, the school system was not very unified. Some primary schools were five years, some were six years, and some were even four years. Junior high and high schools were also mainly two-year systems, but many places retained three-year systems.
There's no need to mention customs and diet. Even political management varied in strictness. Some places in the South, where clan power was well-preserved, were still in the stage of self-management.
It's just very different.
So, if some readers see something that they find questionable, don't rush to refute it. I will try to give a reasonable explanation and strive to be as close to the truth as possible.
Finally, it's time to express my gratitude.
Thank you to my editor, Qilin Ju, although he may not see this.
Thank you to all the readers for your company along the way, and most importantly, for your support.
I hope you can continue to support me and this book after it goes live.
Thank you! ! !
Finally, please subscribe!
