Reborn 80s
Chapter 469 Mass production is not easy
With Yin Kela's acceptance of the ceasefire agreement in April, the war that took place thousands of miles away from China finally came to an end.
From August last year to April this year, it seems like more than half a year.
But in fact, the real big event only lasts for 42 days.
It was these 42 days that made the mechanized warfare ideas formed during World War II so vulnerable.
Chen Huaiqing took one look at the news that Yin Kela had accepted the ceasefire agreement and threw it aside.
This war caused a direct economic loss of approximately 200 billion U.S. dollars to Yinkela. The oil industry and a large number of roads were destroyed, and post-war reconstruction became very difficult.
Yinkela's per capita GDP was close to 4,000 US dollars before the war, but now it is estimated to be less than half, and it is also facing United Nations sanctions.
The days to come will not be easy for Yin Kela.
Of course, all this has nothing to do with Chen Huaiqing, and his investment in Yin Kela has no interest whatsoever.
At this time, Chen Huaiqing was working at Mota Microelectronics Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. Mota Microelectronics is a lithography machine R&D company and the only lithography machine R&D company in China that can produce front-end and back-end lithography machines.
It has been less than five years since its establishment in 1986, but in less than five years, the annual R&D investment has exceeded one billion.
Last year, Mota Microelectronics’ R&D expenditure exceeded 3 billion!
In total, 14.3 billion R&D funds have been invested.
Of course, such a large amount of R&D funds is naturally not only invested by Mota Microelectronics, but also includes a series of subordinate companies.
The most important things in a photolithography machine are the light source and lenses.
Mota Microelectronics can now obtain semiconductor equipment from abroad, and some key components can also be purchased.
But Chen Huaiqing knows that this situation will not last long. As long as Mota Microelectronics threatens Europe and the United States in terms of technology, suppression will follow.
Chen Huaiqing never thinks that it is better to buy than to make.
If you want to rely on buying, you cannot buy advanced technology.
Therefore, the strategy he has always set is to master core technologies by himself.
Therefore, this R&D expenditure of 14.3 billion is the entire investment in the entire lithography machine manufacturing industry chain in the past five years.
This is still a direct investment in research and development.
There is still some money, but it has not been calculated.
It's like an accommodation complex for R&D personnel.
The accommodation complex is built by the Mota Group, along with hospitals and schools.
Of course, with such a large investment in R&D, it is obvious that Mota Microelectronics does not have such a large hematopoietic ability.
Mota Microelectronics currently has two largest customers: Mota Semiconductor and Jingfang Corporation.
Needless to say, Motta Semiconductor is the largest chip foundry in the country and can do everything from manufacturing, packaging to testing.
As for Jingfang Company, it is the largest manufacturer of desktop computer screens in China.
In addition to these two companies, Mota Microelectronics’ lithography machines have also entered the international market.
It is not the most advanced lithography machine, the kind that is one generation behind.
Exported photolithography machines should use domestic parts as much as possible and support domestic photolithography machine parts manufacturers.
If it cannot be made domestically, it must be imported from abroad.
Of course, we also actively conduct self-research.
In terms of core components, the technical level cannot be too different from the international level. We must be careful. Once it becomes unavailable internationally, Mota Microelectronics' photolithography machine manufacturing capabilities will not decline too much.
Photolithography machines for domestically produced parts are at most three generations behind.
Nationally produced photolithography machines that are three generations behind are not selling very well. After all, the semiconductor industry is developing very fast and production equipment is being phased out quickly.
Now three generations behind, not many manufacturers want it anymore.
In fact, Mota Microelectronics' lithography machines, which are one generation behind, are not selling very well in the international market.
At this time, the most powerful companies in the world's lithography machines are concentrated in Neon.
People simply don't believe that Chinese companies can produce such advanced photolithography machines.
Not even given a chance to introduce the product.
As for those companies that have purchased Motta microelectrolithography machines, they will not take the initiative to promote them.
MotaMicroelectronics' lithography machines are cheap, and are 30% cheaper than similar lithography machines from other international manufacturers.
This 30% price can save a lot of costs.
If you can save costs yourself, but other manufacturers don’t, then won’t you be able to make more money?
Mota Microelectronics did not say too much to promote it. The simple reason is that Mota Microelectronics cannot produce dozens of units a year based on its own production capacity.
Photolithography machines are not like other industrial products. They are precision industrial products, and production is inherently slow.
Chen Huaiqing came here this time because Mota Microelectronics developed a photolithography machine with a maximum processing accuracy of 06 microns.
There are three core components of a lithography machine: light source, optical lens, and workpiece stage.
Among them, Mota Microelectronics has been able to handle the light source and workpiece table on its own, but it has to use imported optical lenses.
Chen Huaiqing: “When will mass production be achieved?”
Photolithography machines with a processing accuracy of 06 microns are among the most advanced in the world.
However, it is still just a prototype!
There is still a long way to go before it can be truly applied to commercial production.
"Boss, I really can't give you an accurate time. After all, it's just a prototype now. No one knows how many problems there will be in the future. We are already manufacturing the second one. In June this year,
If we can supply one to Motta Semiconductor Factory, we will work with Motta Semiconductor to improve it."
To a certain extent, users understand product performance and problems better than manufacturers.
Manufacturers do conduct various tests on their products, but users are the ones who use them every day and will find many problems that manufacturers simply don't notice or don't know about.
They will even provide suggestions for improvements to manufacturers.
This is undoubtedly a very important matter.
The R&D department of Motta Group has always been required to collect user feedback on products and truly take user needs into consideration.
The needs of users are the needs of the market.
Chen Huaiqing also knew that this matter should not be rushed. It was not something that he could handle immediately if he was anxious.
The current mainstream of large-scale commercial chip manufacturing technology is still 08 micron.
The 08 micron process technology is already quite mature.
At Motta Semiconductor, the most mature one is the 1-micron process technology. On the 08-micron process technology, the yield rate is only about 85%.
Although the yield rate is more than ten percentage points lower than that of other chip manufacturing plants, Mota Semiconductor is still competitive in the market.
Because Mota Semiconductor's other costs are low, overall it still has advantages.
Even if it makes little or no money, Motta Semiconductor will still take OEM orders for 08 micron chips.
As long as Mota Semiconductor continues to improve its yield rate, Mota Semiconductor's profits will continue to grow.
In terms of improving the yield rate, Motta Semiconductor is quite fast.
