Although they are the guardians of Tyr, they are also citizens of Lordaeron, only they have always lived in anonymity, hiding among the people. Their family has been passed down for thousands of years.
Generation after generation of males will become the protectors of Tyr.
Furthermore, the Guardians of Tyr have a deep connection with the Paladins. After the Paladins were born, the Guardians of Tyr secretly learned to use the power of Holy Light. In a sense, they are also a branch of the Paladins.
"Are you Lord Uther, Uther the Lightbringer?" a Tyr guard asked.
“That’s right, I am Uther the Lightbringer.”
The Tyr's Guard leader's gaze lingered on Uther for a long time, then swept over the knights behind him who were also imbued with the power of the Holy Light, and finally landed on Rhodes.
"Then, Pastor Rhodes, could you tell me about your experiences?"
If it weren't for the Faceless monsters inside, to be honest, he really wanted the Grand Master of the Knights of the Silver Hand, Lord Uther the Lightbringer, to take the Silver Hand Warhammer.
If we're talking about who's qualified to inherit this legendary weapon in this day and age, then there's no one more suitable than Uther.
“My name is Rhodes. I received guidance from the Great Holy Light and also met with an ancient Titan guardian. He told me what happened here: the Titan guardians have betrayed me!”
Loken betrayed the Titans, banishing Odin, the chief guardian, and together with his adopted daughter Hela, sealed him away in Valhalla on the Broken Isles.
High Warden Ra was also framed by him and trapped in Pandaria, falling into despair. As for Ulduar, Warden Mimiron was also framed and lost his body.
The entire Titan Guardian group is now in a state of disintegration and leaderlessness.
Tyr, along with Azadas and Elonaya, discovered the betrayal of the Titan Keeper Loken and left Ulduar, the city where the Keepers resided. However, Loken colluded with Yogg-Saron!
Yogg-Saron dispatched two Faceless Generals to besiege the enemy. Tyr, the Guardian, covered his companions' retreat and fought a bloody battle against the two Faceless Generals, which led to his demise.
The entirety of Ulduar is now under the rule of the evil traitor Loken, and even the Old God Yogg-Saron will eventually escape his prison, unleashing a reign of terror.
"Our world is in danger, am I right, everyone?" Rhodes stepped forward and dropped several bombshell-level messages.
These things might be earth-shattering secrets to others, but to Rhodes, they were just familiar plot points for Warcraft players.
These messages were more shocking than the last, leaving Uther and Jaina looking stunned, because Rhodes hadn't told them any of this.
The Titan Guardians have been betrayed from within; Tyr was killed by his own comrade. This is absolutely shocking.
The Tyr Guardians all turned their gazes toward their leader, as if seeking the truth. There were things that the ordinary Tyr Guards did not know, only the leader knew.
The leader of Tyr's Guard was trembling as he looked at Rhodes. Betrayal had occurred among the Guardians, a fact known only to each generation's leader.
They naturally wouldn't leak information, so Rhodes' source of information is quite obvious: it was told by a Titan guardian.
Moreover, there's the matter of Odin, the chief guardian, for which they don't even know the specifics.
“Uther the Lightbringer… and Lord Rhodes.” The leader of Tyr’s Guard slowly repeated the two names, a hint of reminiscence flashing in his eyes.
"Two thousand years ago, the greatest monarch of mankind, the first emperor Thoradin, stepped into this place with faith and courage. He used his life and weapons to delay the resurgence of Zakaz and bought us precious time."
“We guard Tyr’s slumber, and we are also wary of Zakaz’s shadow, whose minions never cease whispering in the cracks of the seal, trying to corrupt everything.”
"Your statement that the seal is loosening is not unfounded. In recent years, the evil whispers coming from the depths of the tomb have indeed become clearer, and the power of the seal's runes is slowly dissipating."
We prayed day and night, reinforcing the seal, but... the effect was limited; perhaps the time had come.
"Lord Rhodes, may I tell you which Titan Guardian you encountered?" The leader of the Tyr Guardians can now confirm Rhodes' true identity.
"That great being did not tell me his real name. He said that telling me everything now would affect the subsequent plans, but he would help me in secret!"
This time, I was ordered by him to come and destroy Zarkaz, the Faceless One, a servant of the Old Gods.
"He has been sealed away for tens of thousands of years and was severely wounded by Emperor Thoradin's weapon thousands of years ago. Now is his weakest moment, and this is a good opportunity to eliminate him," Rhodes said.
Don't ask, it's a mysterious person.
"In that case, I have no further questions."
"Lord Uther, Lord Rhodes, we will enter the tomb with you to help you destroy the servants of the Old Gods, for the sake of the great Tyr!" the guardians declared, raising their weapons high.
"Thank you all for your help and understanding! For the Holy Light." Uther nodded and said.
Several of the strongest Tyr's Guards, along with Uther, Rhodes, Jaina, and a few of Uther's most elite Silver Hand paladins, headed toward the dark green, bottomless lake.
The leader of the Imperial Guards arrived at a huge rock by the lake, which was covered with runes. He placed his palm on it and began chanting ancient and difficult incantations.
As the incantation was recited, the surface of the lake in the center began to rotate silently, forming a huge whirlpool. At the center of the whirlpool was not dark lake water, but a stone staircase passage that extended downwards, emitting a faint white light, leading directly to the depths of the lake bottom.
The entrance to Tyr's Tomb opened to them, and a mixture of ancient dust, faint holy light, and... a chilling, slippery aura of shadow wafted out of the passage.
The real adventure has begun!
This time, Rhodes and his companions will face the strongest servant of the ancient gods.
Chapter 39 Whispers of Shadows, Holy Light Purifies Evil
As soon as they entered the tomb, they felt a sense of unease. A chilling, shadowy aura swept over them, as if countless damp, cold tentacles were wriggling in the darkness, trying to burrow into their bones.
A low, ambiguous murmur echoed deep within the passageway, striking directly at the soul and bringing waves of dizziness and restlessness.
Even Rhodes faintly heard some whispers.
"Stay calm! This is the Whisper of Shadows. Protect your soul with Holy Light!" Uther's voice was steady and powerful. Holy Light shone brightly around him, forming a warm halo that shut out the whispers that were trying to corrupt everyone.
The paladins and Tyr's guards behind him followed suit, and golden light filled the dark passage. Rhodes also used Flash of Light to illuminate himself.
Simultaneously, the mental enhancement brought by Arcane Wisdom, combined with the mental restoration effect of the Paladin's Blessing of Wisdom, constructs a solid barrier on the mental level.
Jaina waved her staff, and a pale blue arcane shield enveloped the group, further weakening the effects of Shadow Whispers.
Fortunately, these were just Faceless Ones and the hellish sounds unintentionally emitted by shadow creatures. If they were the whispers of the Old Gods...
Rhodes is no match for this whisper, which can corrupt even a guardian.
"Watch your step, proceed with caution!" a Tyre guard warned.
As soon as he finished speaking, the shadow in front of the passage suddenly began to writhe violently!
Dozens of distorted creatures, seemingly made of pure shadow, suddenly "grew" out of the walls and the ground!
They have no fixed form, like boiling black asphalt, with shadowy power constantly emerging from their surface, emitting a nauseating "gurgling" sound, and a vicious purple light flashing in the cracks, condensing into the shape of tentacles or sharp teeth, silently pouncing on the intruders!
These shadow monsters are low-level minions formed from the leakage of Zakaz's power over tens of thousands of years!
"My Holy Light, purify these evil spirits!" Uther roared, pointing his warhammer forward. A pure golden beam of light, like a spear of judgment, instantly pierced through the three shadow monsters charging at the forefront.
The monster that was struck let out a piercing scream, its body boiling and evaporating violently in the holy light, turning into wisps of black smoke and dissipating.
Including Rhodes, the other paladins also cast holy light spells, summoning powerful holy light to clear away the shadow monsters in these passages.
These shadow monsters are troublesome for other professions, but they are no match for holy light spells.
"For order, long live Tyr! Destroy these minions of the ancient gods!" roared the leader of Tyr's Guard, sweeping out his greatsword, which emitted a faint glow.
The terrifying power of holy light was attached to the sword. Wherever the sword passed, the shadow monsters exploded as if they were hit by a drop of boiling oil. Even the shadow aura that approached was dispersed!
Their attacks not only contain holy light, but also carry a rune originating from ancient Titan technology, an order shockwave targeting chaotic energy, making them extremely efficient.
Jaina swung her staff, and several ice spears precisely pierced the cores of several shadow creatures, instantly freezing them into stiff black ice sculptures, which were then easily shattered by the paladin's warhammer.
Rhodes didn't immediately use his powerful magic arrow; these low-level monsters weren't worth wasting his precious mana on. He raised his hand and uttered a low shout: "Holy Storm!"
This is a powerful paladin spell he recently learned from Uther!
Centered on Rhodes, a golden energy vortex several meters in diameter suddenly formed! Divine energy, like a swirling storm of blades, created a storm around Rhodes.
Those shadow monsters that tried to bypass the front row and rush to the flanks and rear of the team were instantly engulfed. With a piercing "hissing" sound, they were like ice and snow thrown into a furnace, instantly burned and purified!
Wherever the holy light storm passed, even the slippery moss and oozing black slime on the walls of the passage were purified, leaving behind dry and clean stone surfaces.
"Well done, Rhodes!" Jaina's eyes lit up; Rhodes' speed and power in mastering Holy Light spells once again amazed her.
"Maintain formation and keep advancing!" Uther commanded in a deep voice. Under the interplay of holy light and arcane magic, the troops pierced the darkness like a sharp dagger.
The deeper one goes into the tomb, the wider the passage becomes, eventually merging into a huge underground cavern.
The light here was even dimmer, and the air was filled with a thick, impenetrable fog of shadows, severely obstructing visibility.
In the center of the cave stands an ancient altar made of huge, rough rocks, and the ground around the altar is covered with complex and dim sealing runes.
But at this moment, many runes have broken, and a viscous, living black substance is constantly seeping out of the cracks.
And those guarding the altar are no longer low-level shadow monsters, but much more powerful beings!
Faceless One!
These twisted creatures are nearly three meters tall, with dark purple or dark gray skin covered in slippery mucus and hard chitinous shells.
They have no obvious head; their upper body consists of a huge mouth covered with spiral teeth and several constantly wriggling tentacles with suckers or claws at the ends, while their lower body consists of thick, insect- or crustacean-like limbs.
They stood silently in the shadowy mist, exuding a suffocating sense of oppression and pure malice. They were extensions of Zarkaz's power, higher-level minions.
"Roar—!" Upon seeing the intruders, the three faceless beings closest to them let out a silent roar—a shriek that directly assaulted the soul!
At the same time, their tentacles suddenly shot out several sticky, foul-smelling shadow arrows with lightning speed!
"Raise your shields!" Uther roared. The paladins and Tyr's Guards in the front ranks immediately raised their heavy shields, and holy light gathered on the shields to form a wall of light.
Bang bang bang!
The Shadow Bolt struck the Holy Light Shield with a dull thud, the viscous dark energy attempting to corrode the Holy Light. The shield trembled violently, the warrior holding it feeling his arm go numb from the shock.
"Frost Nova!" Jaina slammed her staff on the ground, and a chilling aura of ice instantly spread out from her center! The ice aura swept across the lower limbs of the three Faceless Ones, freezing them in place instantly with extreme cold, making their movements sluggish and stiff.
"Now! Attack!" The leader of the Tyr Guard seized the opportunity and led his men to pounce like tigers.
The greatsword, carrying shockwaves of order and holy light, slashed fiercely at the Faceless One's hard carapace, producing a piercing metallic scraping sound and leaving deep burn marks and cracks.
The paladins focused on purification, casting Holy Light and Flash of Light like raindrops on the attacked Faceless Ones, scorching their flesh and emitting sizzling sounds and foul-smelling black smoke.
Chapter 40 The Silver Hand Warhammer
A few minutes later, the three ordinary Faceless Ones fell to the ground under the onslaught of the crowd.
The group continued forward and soon arrived at a huge central burial chamber, where there was a massive altar with a giant warhammer about 10 meters long, with an ancient design and engraved ancient runes.
The moment the Tyr Guards saw the warhammer, they were all very excited, for this was the legendary weapon of the Guardians.
"We have arrived at Lord Uther's place. Ahead lies Tyr's altar, where the weapon you seek, the Silver Hand Warhammer, is displayed," said the leader of Tyr's Guard.
Upon seeing this enormous weapon, the other paladins and Uther all cast questioning glances at it, asking, "Can we really use it?"
Although Lord Uther is tall, he is only about two meters tall. Asking him to use a warhammer that is about ten meters tall is a bit of an exaggeration.
