In the beautiful morning after a beautiful night.

Stella, the president of the Bauhinia Merchants Guild, the top figure in the publishing industry, the honorary earl of the Kingdom of Kalanlo, and the epoch-making tycoon, split apart.

......

Ding-ling, on the mountain road, the crisp sound of the car bell adds a bit of vitality to the boring journey.

Sitting at the entrance of the carriage and gazing into the distance, Jiang Lan unconsciously hummed a tune as if by some mysterious induction.

"Mom, why are you so happy all of a sudden?"

When asked, Jiang Lan suddenly realized that the haze in her heart had dissipated a lot. She couldn't give an accurate answer. Finally, she looked at the vague outline of the city not far away and smiled.

"A new life is about to begin."

Yes, it has begun.

Whether it's hers, the three little ones, Stella's, or Mary's, it's a brand new life.

Volume 1, END.

ps: I finally finished writing this long chapter, Captain, times have changed (laughs).

A postscript for one chapter will be updated tomorrow. It is very important and contains a lot of useful information, so be sure to read it.

Another thing: regarding the book review section, you can't delete comments there so no matter good or bad, praise, criticism or suggestions, please write something meaningful. For unimportant things, just tell me in the comments or thread, I will read them all.

Furthermore, the ratings in the book review area will affect the overall score of the book, which will eventually be reflected on the update pages of each category, affecting the book's performance to a certain extent. If you are dissatisfied with the criticism, you are free to fill in a few points at random, but if you are satisfied, please support and give it a 10, don't give it 9. It's so painful to see (if you still don't give me 10 after I've cried ten times, I'll cry for you to see!)

Postscript (very important, please be sure to read it)

From August 14th to October 14th, it was exactly two months, and the first volume of our book was also completed.

The number of posts, comments, rewards, and monthly tickets I have received along the way have exceeded my expectations. I am very grateful for everyone's support.

Of course there are good and bad sides. It's an inherent weakness in my character. I care too much about what others think of me. I couldn't help but open a few separate chapters to correct the mistakes. Now it seems that I was a bit impulsive, but that's just how I am. Maybe there will be more chapters to correct the mistakes in the future. This is probably what people say: even if you know you are wrong, you will still dare to do it next time 23333.

This is also a characteristic of my personality.

Then I looked back on the journey so far and had a lot of emotions, but the one I couldn't let go of the most was Meili.

To sum it up in one sentence, I, as a stepmother, have no conscience. I wrote the character of Mary from the very beginning just to have her leave.

From the moment Mary appeared, the foreshadowing of her exit was laid out. [This dialogue happened 519 times.] The 520th time was her exit, and then the part with the bandits also gave her the ending [the first love ended in vain].

Because of the structure, I always lay the groundwork when writing, and sometimes a small sentence can hint at the fate.

But I still felt sad while writing about them. After all, they are characters I created in my novel. Although they are not my biological children like Jiang Lan and San Xiao, I have to have feelings for them after writing about them for such a long time.

It was probably around the twentieth chapter when I was writing and suddenly I couldn't type anymore. For some reason I asked in the group, "Do you like Mary now?"

Please don't misunderstand me. I asked me this because I hoped they would say they didn't like Mary, so I was relieved when they said it was just average.

Even though it's a bit despicable and inhumane, it's true that we can't let a character that is loved leave the stage.

I've already been criticized for Onodera in the past, and Igarashi, the hard-working and lovable character created in the first volume, lost his memory and was really criticized badly.

As an author, this character is inserted for the sake of the plot, but this character also needs to be excluded for the sake of the plot. This is a real dilemma.

So after getting their answers I thought, I'm going to make Mary a little bit more badass.

So she instructed the nuns to bully the three little ones.

But here my thinking diverges from everyone else's. According to the setting, the three little ones are only five years old and have just started school. They have not been bullied for long. Moreover, given the bad atmosphere of the town created in the early stages, even if Mary did not order the three little ones around, their situation would not be very good.

So I thought everyone could understand it, but now it seems that I was wrong, because that incident made everyone hate Mary more than they imagined.

Everyone has a different growth path, and their thinking and choices are different.

Sometimes the writer's psychology will naturally reflect on the text he writes. In fact, Meili reflects some of my thoughts (of course, writing about the strange feelings of the three little ones does not mean that I am in love with my mother. There is no reflection on this part. It is better to say that my relationship with my mother is very stiff. Her own problems in thinking and behavior make her the person I least want to be.)

Putting aside the brackets and returning to the topic, although we are standing on different standpoints, Mary is indeed my reflection and did what I did at that time.

Single parent, when I was in elementary school, my mother wanted to find a stepfather for me. There were also two children there, and they lived together for a while. I was young and ignorant at that time and couldn’t tell the difference, but now that I’m older, I understand. Although they seemed to treat us equally, they actually favored their own biological children.

Blood ties are really important. Loving your own children is always better than loving someone else's children. Even if you have the intention to marry, let alone the other person's children after marriage, it makes sense that Meili doesn't love Sanxiao, because I, the author, don't love him. (I won't argue about this. Anyway, I have a say as someone who has experienced it myself.)

Each of us loves our own selfishness, and no matter how hard we try to hide it, children can always sense it. When they see the look in their eyes or the way they behave, they will have a feeling that the other person doesn’t like them. (And I was indeed not likable when I was a child, but which child is not like this? After all, they are not my own children.)

So later on I didn't get very close to that side. Then one day we had an argument because it was a second marriage and the other party didn't want to give a dowry. In fact, my mother only wanted 10,000 or 20,000 yuan, but the other party still didn't want to give it. At that time I thought the other party was greedy for money, but now I think it was more about meaning. What my mother wanted was respect and a sense of relief. Even if it was a second marriage, we should do what we should do.

It was very late at that time, and my mother took me away, so the other side naturally chased us.

Then I did something similar to Mary. I was in the opposite position to Mary, but I did the same thing.

I added the final spark between them. When the person on the other side was trying to push my mother's electric bike back, I blocked the car and prevented them from moving. I shattered my mother's hesitation and she left that house that night.

Later it was proved that what I did that night was right. The two kids across the street did not receive a good education because of their father. They wasted their time in public school and only got about 300 points in the college entrance examination. If I had not done that at the time and continued to live with them, not only would I be unhappy every day, but I might not be able to go to private school or even get into college, and I would be carrying bricks at a construction site now.

Do you understand? If you marry someone with children, especially when the other person's children don't like you, your situation will be very difficult. The other person is unwilling to give a betrothal gift, and I am trying to stop him from persuading my mother to go back.

So Mary has my shadow in her, and she is stuck in a very difficult situation and can't extricate herself. There is no way to break out unless she uses some tricks.

Sometimes you have to do something, even if you know it's wrong.

Mary and I both took actions that best suited our personalities and experiences.

In this way, with my reflection, perhaps only now have all the puzzle pieces of Mary's character been put together.

As I said, if you don’t like it, don’t hate it.

Next, a few small complaints.

Although I am a funny guy who smiles all day and talks dirty in daily life, I become unexpectedly delicate when writing novels. So I hope that when you read my novels, you can spend more time to think about the hidden meanings of certain words and plots.

There are many things I don’t want to write too explicitly, because I think they are implicit, but in fact they bring many unnecessary misunderstandings to everyone.

Take for example the confrontation between Stella and Meli.

In the confrontation between Stella and Mary, she belittled Mary, saying that she was good for nothing, not even as good as her third sister, and that she had her current status only because of Jiang Lan. After that, I often saw posts using such words to belittle Mary. How should I put it? The words of the characters in the book have blinded the judgment of readers who have a God's perspective. I don't know whether I should be happy or sad.

That was just Stella's one-sided statement, but everyone believed it because they didn't like Mary. Yes, Stella said that, but Jiang Lan also said that Mary was so hardworking. After the Duke delegated power, she managed everything in order. And she was the third sister who spoke highly of Stella, but Jiang Lan criticized her to pieces when they met for the first time - she was just a vassal who depended on men.

This contradicts what Stella said, and another important piece of evidence is that I mentioned through Jiang Lan that the Earl didn't like the third sister because she was overly dependent on men and was not capable of doing anything important. So isn't it the same to rely on Jiang Lan? Why should he value Meili?

If you were the earl, would you really leave the fate of your family to an incompetent mediocre person just because someone who is close to your children is very powerful and has a great hidden influence?

That's impossible. In fact, what Stella said was just a rhetoric. She was the president of the Chamber of Commerce, had experienced so many crises, and was a sophisticated and resourceful woman. She revealed her identity as an honorary earl and listed all of Mary's past in order to break down Mary's psychological defenses and gain the initiative. Mary was too young to fight against Stella and thus lost the upper hand (Jiang Lan also mentioned this in the chapters after the confrontation, but everyone turned a deaf ear to it and chose to believe Stella's frank words.)

Originally, I wanted to use this kind of plot to shape the character of Stella, but it was written too implicitly and many people completely misinterpreted its meaning.

This made me feel uncomfortable for a while. In fact, it's not that you can't tell the difference. In fact, you don't take this novel seriously at all. You subconsciously despise it, so many times you don't think too deeply about it. After all, it's not a famous work, so there's no need to think so seriously, read carefully, and try to figure out the deep meaning of the characters' words.

This is also a real dilemma. The main function of online literature as a medium is indeed to kill time.

There are many similar parts. I think the first volume is very complete. Each plot has its own foreshadowing. For example, when Jiang Lan was writing a novel, I drove a car in a flower shop. I ruled out male lovers. After ruling out males, marriage requires equal status. If she has two holes, the man opposite must also have two holes to be a good match.

This car immediately followed up with a conversation, [Puuuuu, I have to write this down, this is also a very interesting plot.], the setting that only appeared in the forty-something chapters, but the foreshadowing had already begun in the twenty-something chapters.

I wrote this very seriously, and I hope you can read it seriously too.

There are many more things I want to say, but it would be annoying if I wrote too much, so I'll just stop here.

I hope this chapter can have some impact on everyone, and help you think and look at the characters and events in the novel more objectively. Maybe it only takes you half a day to finish one volume, but for me it is two months of hard work.

The above is the end of the first volume.

Interlude: The Sage Who Foresaw History (I)

"Hey, teacher, this is all for today."

A heavy document, half a person's height, slammed down on the desk with a thud. Just looking at it was enough to make people lean back in amazement, lie on the chair like Ge You, and wonder what kind of lethal dose this was.

"teacher?"

Instead of hearing the expected groan of pain, the man's hair swirled around twice and fell down in front of his forehead in disappointment. Wasn't there any source of happiness for today? She was really looking forward to the teacher's desperate howl like a groundhog every time he saw the pile of documents.

Patricia looked over with confusion.

Behind the pile of documents, a pair of green fingers held a scroll, with an elegant appearance, like a quiet girl (?) who only existed in a painting. She lowered her eyebrows and read it carefully.

The seemingly perfect sage, Isaiah Agnes, the Minister of Law and Politics of the Kingdom of Kalanlo, also performed perfectly today.

"Ah, here you are again today. The new novel is "Battle Through the Heavens", right?"

Few people know that this perfect and elegant Sage of the Dawn in the eyes of outsiders is actually the titanium alloy steel powder of the Sage of the Forest. Every time a new book arrives, he will fall into the same situation as now. He will sit on the chair and do nothing all day, completely immersed in the world of books. He will never let go until he has read it repeatedly several times. Sometimes, even his water and food are fed little by little by his apprentice.

In her words: Lixia, the master is old and seriously injured. He will pass away in a few years. There will always be a time when he becomes demented.

But looking at the teacher's pretty face, which looks like that of a 28-year-old girl, I just can't accept it no matter what.

The teacher will pass away soon.

Prophecies and the like are all lies. Thinking of this, Lixia lowered her eyes.

Turning around the desk, Lixia waved her arms a few times in front of the teacher.

"Mexi, mexi, teacher, can you hear me?"

Only then did the teacher tremble as if she was frightened and noticed the arrival of her beloved disciple.

"Ah~ again? Documents."

"Yes, although the Duke's incident has been suppressed, there are still many problems that have not been solved. These are the tasks of our Law and Politics Department."

"Wow~ a lot."

Lixia shuddered. Wow, the coquetry coming from an old lady was really powerful. What was even more terrifying was that she really couldn't refuse such coquetry.

I know that the master is very old, but you can't tell from her pure and plain face.

Especially now, he was actually clasping his hands together and half blinking his eyes to act cute at her.

"Lisha, you understand."

"I understand. During the period of watching the new work of the wise man of the forest, all the work—"

"I won't accept that~" Isaiah replied.

"So even though this is an important document, I will be the only one to review it."
