The Raymond family has always been reluctant to cooperate with them, and now their son has disappeared within Wayne Enterprises' "territory." This is undoubtedly an opportunity for some people who want to create a big story to fabricate conspiracy theories.

Wang Baixi wiped his sweat. "It seems we need to find that dead crocodile quickly."

Chapter Ninety-One: Poison Ivy Woman

After leaving the "Gotham City Development Forum," Wang Baixi parted ways with Joshua. This 19th-century old man had hardly stopped working since his resurrection, which was truly admirable. But that's just how society works; some people are doers, while others are responsible for planning (bragging). No sooner had Joshua left than Wang Baixi dialed Tim's number.

"Hey, Wang."

The call connected faster than he expected, but it sounded rather noisy.

"Tim, listen to me, the young master of the Raymond family has been kidnapped. Someone saw a huge green guy near the sewers, and I suspect it was Killer Croc."

"Killer Croc?" Tim's voice was clearly confused. "That's not right. We contained him, and Batman put him back in a den in the sewers. How did he get out and kidnap people?"

"What? Batman actually did that?"

"Don't you know?"

"Of course I don't know. Okay, never mind that now. I don't know if he escaped or not, but the media is already showing signs of linking this to Wayne Corporation's renovation project. I need someone to confirm Killer Croc's location."

This "someone" is naturally our dear and lovable Comrade Robin.

“My lord, I’m at school and I’m too busy for the moment. I might have to come back later. How about I ask Huntress and Catwoman to help?” Tim’s tone was full of apology.

Ever since Wang Baixi appeared, this group of people have been living a wonderful life of working at night and working overtime during the day.

"You're such a good kid. Let them go. By the way, what about Cassandra?"

“She’s with me, and I’m helping her with some paperwork for her Gotham University scholarship.”

"Ah! Aren't you at school?!"

"Yes, at Gotham University."

"So, all this time you're helping Cassandra with her school enrollment procedures, and you're several years older than Cassandra! Won't people be suspicious?" Wang Baixi couldn't help but complain.

“There’s no other way. Cassandra needs someone who can sign language and is available enough to help her, and besides, we’re both nominally sponsored by Bruce.”

"Okay, anyway, it's best to hurry. The longer this drags on, the worse it will be for us."

After speaking, Wang Baixi hung up the phone and was about to hail a taxi when a dark blue sedan screeched to a halt in front of him. The driver's side window slowly rolled down, and Zatana was holding the steering wheel with one hand and a meat pie in her other hand. The black cat was scratching at the edge of the window with its paws.

"Your Majesty, it seems you've run into trouble?"

Wang Baixi was stunned. "Why are you driving my car? Wait, what are you doing here!"

"Your keys were in the tray in the entryway, I just grabbed them. You don't need them anyway, so why don't I borrow them? Your car's suspension is a bit stiff, and the steering isn't very precise, but the seat heating is pretty good."

"That's my car! My keys! My heated seats!"

"Don't be so stingy. I just finished a drive and came to pick you up. This is a special service," Zatana said with a light laugh.

Wang Baixi opened the passenger door and plopped down inside. Meatball immediately jumped from Zatana's lap onto his knee, spun around a couple of times, and then settled down in a comfortable position.

"Did something interesting happen today, you righteous entrepreneur?" Zatana teased.

"Nothing interesting happened, but I did hear about a kidnapping case," Wang Baixi sighed helplessly.

"Oh? Tell me about it."

“There’s a powerful family in Gotham whose main business is chemical products, called the Raymond family. I had arranged to meet with them to discuss business, but their son was kidnapped this morning. It’s most likely the work of Killer Croc. But…” Wang Baixi changed the subject, mentioning his speculation again.

In other words, Killer Croc, that big guy, is now illiterate and can't possibly make such a prediction.

“That’s really strange,” Zatana agreed after listening. “But Bruce told me he built a nest for the Killer Croc in the sewers, so logically…”

"Wait, you also know that Bruce built a nest for that alligator?"

How come he's the only one who doesn't know?

He was, after all, the person in charge of the underground system renovation project. Why didn't Batman tell him about this holdout from the Court of Owls?

Before he could finish speaking, Wang Baixi suddenly noticed something was wrong with the street scene outside the window. "Wait, this isn't the way home."

"Ah, weren't you going to find Killer Croc?"

"I don't think I've told you that before."

“Come on, we’re partners in justice. Right, Meatball?” Zatana said seriously.

The tone of those words was not at all like coaxing a child; Wang Baixi could truly feel the overwhelming sense of mission emanating from Zatana.

“Okay, okay,” Wang Baixi surrendered with both hands. Then, he used his transparent glasses to access the remote access of the Batcomputer. Through the information left behind by Batman, he knew that Killer Croc’s lair was located in several abandoned sewers at the bottom of the old city.

For reasons unknown, Batman installed surveillance cameras in Killer Croc's lair. The footage showed Killer Croc burning firewood in a cave, but most of the scene was obscured by shadows.

"Found him, and he seems to be doing well for now."

But who knows if chaos will follow?

“Okay, let’s go there now,” Zatana replied.

"Wait, Zatana, wait a moment." Wang Baixi picked up the meat pie from his lap and handed it back to Zatana. "We need to think about this. Killer Croc is mentally challenged now. Why would he want a ransom of ten million for no reason? To eat it?"

“What you’re saying doesn’t make sense,” Zatana put the meat pie back on the back seat. “Do you think this has anything to do with the Court of Owls?”

"I can't rule out that possibility, but the Court of Owls is almost dead, and the remaining people have basically scattered like birds and beasts. I think it's more likely that someone used some kind of mind control to treat him as a puppet."

"Mind control?"

"Yes, like the Mad Hatter, or the neurosurgeon."

"Looks like you've really done your research on Gotham's villains." Zatana smiled and pulled a thin silver chain from the inside pocket of her trench coat, with a cross pendant hanging from the end. She then casually slipped it into Wang Baixi's hand.

"what is this?"

"This thing is immune to most forms of mind control."

Wang Baixi blinked, surprised that Zatana was actually quite nice.

Thanks.

"No need, it's the guardian's duty."

Wang Baixi: "..."

……

Not long after, the car stopped beside a desolate industrial ruin, surrounded by nothing but a few chimneys and weeds.

"Bruce's eye for location selection is as discerning as ever," Wang Baixi said, getting out of the car first.

"What do you mean?" Zatana left the kitten in the car and got out herself.

"He built that nest almost in the deepest part of the sewer, a place even homeless people wouldn't go near. The killer crocodile stayed there, so it wouldn't scare the citizens, and it wouldn't be easy for outsiders to find it."

“But that makes it difficult for us to get in,” Zatana said with a wry smile.

After saying that, the two found a sewer entrance that was half-hidden by an iron fence and crawled inside. The air inside the sewer was damp and stuffy, and although the light was dim, it was just enough for them to see the path under their feet.

"Jing'an," Zatana said softly, raising her hand.

The sound of their footsteps disappeared instantly from the sewer.

This is magic that makes footsteps disappear.

They walked along the main tunnel for about fifteen minutes before finally stopping at a fork in the road.

At the end of the fork in the road was a widened cave, with an old mattress on the floor that looked like it came from somewhere.

The killer crocodile sat cross-legged on the mattress, using its thick tail as a cushion, clumsily fiddling with a deck of cards with a missing corner.

The flames illuminated his face, which was half-lit, half-shadowed, both ferocious and innocent.

Opposite the killer crocodile, a little boy was surrounded by a pile of old tires, his face still wet with tears, a four of spades forced into his hand, and several cards clenched in his chubby fist.

"It's...it's your turn to play," Killer Crocodile said seriously.

The little boy threw the four of spades onto the pile of tires, taking two steps back as he did so, clearly quite frightened.

"That damn crocodile!"

Zatana frowned and subconsciously turned to look at Wang Baixi, only to find that the person who should have been standing next to her was no longer there.

She looked back and saw Wang Baixi standing a few steps away, squatting next to a vine hanging down from a crack in the pipe wall, fiddling with the dark green vine.

"Za, Zatana. Come and see."

The vines were a deeper color than ordinary ivy.

"I was wrong. The Mad Hatter isn't the only one who can mind control others."

Zatana stepped forward and examined the vines.

This sewer is not a suitable place for plants to survive, and the light, soil, and water here are completely unsuitable for the basic conditions for the survival of this type of ivy.

She paused for a moment, looked up at Wang Baixi, and the two of them thought of the same person at the same time.

"And Poison Ivy."

Chapter Ninety-Two: Chaos Follows

Wang Baixi tucked the cross pendant into his collar, then raised his left hand and activated the miniature electronic probe mask.

His face changed from an Asian face to a angular, unfamiliar white face in a matter of seconds:

He had high cheekbones, a hooked nose, and an old knife scar that ran across his jaw.

"Where did you get this thing? Is this your disguise magic?" Zatana asked in surprise.

"No, no, no, it's more terrifying than magic. We call it 'technology.' This is the 'electronic clay mask' Batman gave me. How about it? Cool, right?"

Zatana squinted. "Like a professional thug just released from Blackgate Prison."

"That's right."
