“Received.” Wang Baixi tapped the trigger switch on the smoke grenade.

Three smoke grenades immediately popped out from the inside of his forearm.

The moment the smoke grenade landed, it exploded into several thick clouds of gray smoke, completely enveloping the entire intersection.

Once the claws rushed into the smoke, they immediately lost their sense of direction. They formed a defensive formation back to back, their blades flailing wildly in the smoke, but they couldn't cut anything.

This is because Wang Baixi is no longer in the same place.

Under the cover of smoke, he circled around from the right side of the fork in the road to the back of the three claws, and following Tim's instructions, he reached for another smoke grenade on his suit belt.

At this moment, the temperature in the cave is minus four degrees Celsius.

“One more minute, Your Majesty!” Joshua’s voice came through the armory channel.

"I'll try my best," Wang Baixi replied through gritted teeth.

Before he could finish speaking, three more thermal imaging spots rushed in from the direction of the main passage.

Then, the claws on the other side of the smoke discovered his hiding place. One of the claws darted out of the smoke and swung its long blade down at him.

He raised his left arm to block, and when the arm armor of his battle suit collided with the knife, the impact traveled through the arm armor to his shoulder, causing him to gasp in pain and take two steps back.

Just as the claws were about to continue slashing, they suddenly saw Wang Baixi's equipment through the fog.

"Batman, you're not dead?"

"So you guys can actually say a complete sentence?" Wang Baixi said with a wry smile.

However, the claws gave him no chance to breathe and immediately swung their swords at him, each strike faster than the last. Wang Baixi retreated while blocking with his arms, and was almost forced to the edge of the training ground.

"No matter who you are, the Court of Owls..."

Before they could finish speaking, a batarang was slashed out from Wang Baixi's hand. Several sharp claws barely dodged it, but they discovered that another batarang had been thrown out where they hadn't been paying attention. However, the target was not them, but a huge pipe clinging to the top of the cave.

Clang!

At that moment, Wang Baixi knew he had punctured the air conditioning duct.

hiss!

At that moment, Wang Baixi knew that the cold air was leaking out...

"Your Majesty! You can't destroy the pipes here!" Tim exclaimed anxiously. "If you do, you won't be able to get out either!"

"Hard to say!"

Just a second before the sharp claws slashed down again, Wang Baixi slapped the bat emblem on the chest of his battle suit.

In fact, doing so had no effect; it was simply because he wanted to do it.

"Batmobile, start!"

……

At the Wayne Coast project site, five kilometers southeast of Gotham Harbor, Tim stood on the roof of a building, his face illuminated by the flames of drones burning in the night sky.

Although the birds were shot down, the plane sustained some damage. Fortunately, Tim managed to contact Superman, and now it's up to him...

At this moment, scattered among their feet were the carcasses of birds.

The most prominent of them all was the falcon known as "Claw," which lay beside a bundle of steel bars, its wings twisted at an angle, its chest feathers soaked in blood.

"This pet bird of 'Little Bird' can actually ignore the bird-repelling system and summon so many of its kind who are willing to die," the Angel of Death said, puzzled.

“I’ve only heard of Aquaman, not Bird King,” Tim said with a laugh.

"So what? Gotham has a new Batman!"

His words were so abrupt that Tim was momentarily at a loss for words. "Let..."

“Okay, I’m not kidding him, so: he did it?” The Angel of Death stood next to Tim, watching the cargo plane fly away overhead, and changed the subject. “I was talking about that ‘Batman’.”

"Of course, at the crucial moment, the Batmobile took him out of the Batcave and 'crushed' those claws."

"That's too brutal!!" The Angel of Death gasped in disbelief, unable to comprehend how gruesome the scene would be.

"Yes, and because he took too long to clean up, the armory couldn't be opened properly due to the extremely low temperature... Fortunately, he used his magic to revive a few bats that had frozen to death and managed to get them to break the temperature control valve of the refrigeration unit. After the cave temperature rose, Afu and the others were able to come out of the armory."

"That guy really doesn't consider the consequences of his actions."

"Isn't that the same as you?"

"It's not the same at all."

"You look unhappy, let me."

The Angel of Death remained silent for a long time before finally speaking:

"Tim, I don't want to hide this. I'm heartbroken. You know I yearn to be a hero like Batman, to inherit his mantle, but I know I'm not worthy. I'm someone who can't control myself, but what about Wang Baixi? He's practically a super violent maniac!!"

Wouldn't that make me just like him?

Tim turned to look at the Angel of Death, his youthful face showing neither surprise nor pity.

"You don't have to be Batman, let's just be yourself."

A slight smile finally appeared on the Death Angel's usually taut face, like the moon finally piercing through Gotham's thick clouds.

"And what about you, Tim? What will you become? No matter who's Batman, you'll just be your Robin, right?"

Tim laughed again.

“One day, I may leave like Dick. But not now, because right now, Batman still needs Robin.”

Chapter Twenty-Seven: More Than Good at Making Things Happen

Night has fallen, and Gotham is about to welcome the dawn.

The rising sun had already shone on an abandoned berth in Gotham Harbor.

Inside the container, Bain stood in front of a rusty container. On the concrete floor in front of him lay a dock guard with his neck broken.

Bain insists: He was just asleep, not dead.

In his worldview, death is an honor that mediocre people do not deserve; only those who can shake the world and leave their mark on history are worthy of the honor of "death."

Five steps away from the corpse, the little bird knelt on one knee in front of Bane, while the two people standing behind him maintained the same respectful posture.

These two were also Bane's men, one of whom was called "Zombie." This man had a bald head, his face was covered with a pale, cracked mask, his eye sockets were black, and two cloudy yellow eyes were embedded in deep eye sockets. His mouth was drawn with black lip line to make it look like a stitched-together zombie.

Despite wearing a sharp suit, he exuded a sinister aura.

The other one, called the caveman, had a face full of taut, horizontal muscles, and his neck and shoulders were almost on the same diagonal line; he was a truly burly man.

The little bird recounted everything that had happened that night, but its voice grew softer and softer as it spoke.

"...And my falcon's wing was bitten off by that damned drone, and its body is nowhere to be found."

Bain glanced down at his glove, which was stained with the blood of the dock guards.

"Hmph, the Court of Owls, more trouble than they're worth!"

How can one be a good villain when surrounded by such insects?

After hearing this, the little bird shrank back, fearing that Bane's next move would be to snap him in half like the dock guard. Fortunately, however, Bane immediately attributed this to the Court of Owls, rather than blaming them.

“Mr. Clark asked me to tell you that it’s not their fault,” the little bird added, mustering its courage. “The patrolling owls they sent out reported seeing Batman and Robin at Wayne Manor.”

"Where's the owl?"

"It was also shot down."

"How did they know?"

"Some photos may have been taken..."

Bain's hand froze in mid-air. The words silenced him for a moment, after which he became indignant.

"Even if it were true, it would be nothing but a fake. I broke Batman's spine with my own hands, and I watched him die. If a lingering imposter and a kid in a tight suit can throw you into disarray, then you are not worthy to be my subordinates."

Could he also possess amber gold? Impossible, absolutely impossible!

The caveman then asked in a serious tone, "So, boss, what do we do next?"

“Forget about the Court of Owls. Let them keep using Dick Grayson to blackmail Wayne Corporation if they want…” Bain turned around and picked up a metal briefcase from beside the container. “Anyway, we’ve already got the Amber Gold.”

When he mentioned "amber gold," the bird's shoulders twitched, and the caveman's jawline tightened even more.

Everyone knew that this was the secret to Claw's immortality.

"Next target: Arkham!"

They had previously helped Arkham prisoners organize a large-scale prison break, but most of them were still put back in jail by Batman. Now that Batman is gone, who can stop Bane?

The little bird was the first to raise its head: "What about Robin and Batman? They gave us quite a blow tonight. If we just leave them alone..."

Bain switched the heavy combination lock to his other hand.

"Zombie, go and kill 'Batman'."

The zombie's features contorted slightly in surprise: "Ah, me?"

"Are you afraid?"

"No, no, of course I'm not afraid." The zombie immediately straightened his back, then shrank back down. "I just think... Boss, shouldn't you send the cavemen? The cavemen are much stronger than me..."

The caveman glanced down at the zombie, then immediately made an excuse for himself: "I have more important things to do: I need to get the Venom back from the Penguin. 'Claws' only killed one of his pet birds as punishment for monitoring us. But what about the Venom? We haven't gotten it back yet."

"Enough," Bain snapped, cutting off his two subordinates' attempts to shirk responsibility. "I want to see your results in two days."

……

Inside the Batcave, Tim stood in front of the main control console, looking around with an extremely complex expression on his face.

Icicles still hung from the cracks in the air conditioning ducts that Wang Baixi had damaged. Marble fragments crushed by the Batmobile's tracks were scattered on the training ground. The worst off was the supercomputer's data center, whose screen was still flickering with static after being ravaged by the low temperatures.
