As the true leader, his power is limitless.
Although the Claws were somewhat puzzled, with most of the council members dead or wounded and the Court of Owls being treated like monkeys by various forces, just like elite monsters, it was indeed time to use special measures at a special time.
“Now, let’s make sure this never happens again.” Wang Baixi turned to Kelvin, “Kelvin Ross, come forward.”
Kelvin stepped forward. "Chief, I'm here."
“From this moment on, Kelvin Ross is my designated second-in-command, the Claw of the Chief. In my absence, his words carry the same weight as mine. Furthermore, I grant him the authority to execute any traitor without prior consultation.”
“I am deeply honored!” Kelvin said with a light laugh.
"Kelvin."
"exist!"
“I order you to begin today to lead your bunch of good-for-nothing comrades to track down the hiding place of the Riddler Edward Nigma. He is very likely involved in this play. Keep a close eye on him. If he shows up in Gotham, catch him immediately and don’t let him get away.”
He certainly knew the Riddler was in the Middle East, but who knew if Bruce could find him?
"Yes!"
After speaking, Wang Baixi looked at everyone and asked, "Do you have any further objections?"
This time, he was met with silence.
"Okay. Meeting adjourned."
……
Wang Baixi walked out of the abandoned courthouse. It was still dark, and he didn't know if Tim was sleeping or working overtime. In order not to disturb him, Wang Baixi took out his communicator and sent Tim an encrypted message:
"Tim, something terrible has happened. I was just at the Court of Owls when two mud-faced people suddenly appeared at the outpost, looking like Joseph and Maria. Kelvin and I fought them, but we couldn't catch them, and they turned into mud and escaped into the sewers."
"Which two mud-faced people are these, or does this thing split apart?"
"Hmm, maybe I should go and resurrect the Penguin and ask him what happened, but I don't know if his body is under police control."
He started the car only after sending the message.
……
When Wang Baixi arrived home, the apartment was quiet. The living room lights were dimmed, and Roubing was sleeping on the back of the sofa, its tail swaying back and forth. Zatana was afraid of disturbing the dead cat's sleep.
Hedwig flew back to her perch and fell asleep peacefully.
"Sigh, I'm finally back." Wang Baixi scratched his head, then locked the door. Just then, he heard a series of soft noises coming from the other end of the corridor.
He turned his head and saw Cassandra walking out of the hallway leading to the bedroom, wearing a large, knee-length T-shirt, barefoot, holding an empty cup, heading towards the kitchen.
Wang Baixi first noticed her face and found that her cheeks were flushed with a faint pink, much more so than when she ate dinner.
Cassandra stopped when she saw him standing in the doorway. A sleepy smile slowly bloomed on her face.
She raised two fingers and gave a small greeting.
Has this guy been drinking?
“Cassandra,” Wang Boxi sighed, “you stole Zatana’s wine, didn’t you? Or did Zatana allow it? That girl is a bad influence on kids!”
Cassandra made a slight gesture with her fingers and thumb, then covered her mouth.
"Hmm, I don't understand what you mean at all," Wang Baixi walked over and took the cup from her hand. "Go back to sleep, you drunkard."
Cassandra, however, leaned closer, her nose wrinkling near Wang Baixi's collar, her expression shifting from sleepy pleasure to undisguised disgust.
"You stink."
Wang Baixi looked down at himself and noticed a scratch on the left side of his coat, which had dried into a layer of light gray hard crust. It was the mud-like substance that had seeped from the two escaped imposters.
"Oh, it's actually the remnants of the clay-faced man..."
Cassandra made another face, dragged herself back to the bedroom, paused at the end of the hallway, and waved without turning her head.
Wang Baixi took off his coat and threw it into the laundry basket in the bathroom. Looking at the dirty spots, he suddenly thought of something.
Chapter 119 Where is Dad?
middle East.
Damian stared at Bruce Wayne in front of him, his mind still replaying what his mother had just said.
Batman, is his father Batman?
The masked vigilante listed as an S-class threat in the Assassin's Creed intelligence briefing, the madman who single-handedly took on the entire Arkham Asylum, the legendary figure whose grandfather Ras Elgul (Ray Xiaogu) talked about his whole life was his biological father.
Why doesn't she say her dad is Superman?
The problem is, the man standing in front of him, with a stubble beard and heavy eye bags that make him look like he hasn't slept for three days, doesn't look like him at all.
Damian walked halfway around Bruce, his gaze sweeping from his shoulder to his boots and back again. He had to admit that Bruce's one-against-ten fighting performance in the hall did indeed live up to the descriptions in the intelligence reports, but up close, the guy's casual wear was simply outrageous.
"Are you really Batman?" Damian asked. His tone was more skeptical than admiring.
Bruce looked down at the boy, who only reached his waist. The boy's posture was exactly the same as his, feet shoulder-width apart, ready to strike at any moment. It seemed he had been trained to kill since he could walk.
This made Bruce's heart tighten.
"Yes."
But he still answered in the same way.
"Prove it to me."
"I just took down more than a dozen of your mother's assassins all by myself," Bruce chuckled.
“That only proves you’re a good fighter. It doesn’t prove you’re Batman.” Damian’s logic was clearer than that of a ten-year-old. “I’ve heard that Batman doesn’t kill people. If you really are Batman, you should know how to win a fight without killing anyone. But if you’re just an ordinary person who happens to be a good fighter, then you might just have been lucky and didn’t kill anyone.”
Bruce was silent for two seconds. Although the kid's reasoning was not very reliable, it couldn't be said to be wrong.
Talia laughed from the side, seemingly amused by her son's teasing of his own father.
Bruce pulled a batarang from the inside of his belt, held it in his palm and showed it to Damian. Damian took the batarang, weighed it in his hand, examined it twice, and then returned it to Bruce.
"It's just a batarang; you can buy replicas at toy stores."
Counterfeit?!
“You can’t find this weight in a toy store,” Bruce said, frowning.
“Then fight me.” Damian took two steps back, assuming a fighting stance. “I know exactly how Batman fights; I’ve studied him.”
"Damian," Talia called out to Damian, but her tone was a reminder rather than a rebuke.
“Mother, this is my own business.” Damian’s gaze did not leave Bruce.
"If you're Batman, prove it to me."
Bruce looked at the ten-year-old boy's standard fighting stance and found it all absurdly funny. He had flown halfway around the world to find Jason Todd's body, only to find a son instead.
There's still a huge mess going on in Gotham, so he's not in the mood to spend time with the kid king.
“I’m not playing anymore, I give up,” Bruce said.
Damian's expression froze. "What did you say?"
“I said I concede, and you win. You’re right, I’m not Batman. I’m just an ordinary person who happens to be very good at fighting. I came to the Middle East to find something else, and now I’ve found nothing, so I’m leaving.” After saying that, Bruce turned and walked towards the exit of the hall.
But after he took a few steps, a loud shout came from behind him: "Stop right there!!"
The ten-year-old boy charged at Bruce like a cannonball, throwing a punch at his lower back. Bruce dodged to the side, Damian's fist grazing the edge of his cloak and missing its mark, causing Bruce to stagger forward two steps due to the momentum.
He braced himself with one hand as he lost his balance, using the rebound force to turn around and pounce on him again.
"Why are you running? You don't even dare to fight me?"
“I don’t want to fight.” Bruce quickly grabbed Damian’s wrist and pulled him to the side, causing the boy’s fist to be directed towards his left side.
"You're insulting me!" Damian tried to break free, but found that the guy was incredibly strong, and his face immediately turned red.
"I'm just avoiding pointless fighting."
"Get serious!"
Damian's leg was already sweeping towards Bruce's ankle. The angle of the kick was so tricky that Bruce had to jump back half a step to dodge it. After that, Damian immediately withdrew his leg and changed his posture to prepare to launch an attack.
It was that same fighting spirit again. He wouldn't believe it if he said the guy wasn't his own child, but this guy was too brutal. Cassandra was also trained to kill from a young age, but she didn't have this kind of brutal temperament. This reminded him of... Jason.
"Okay," Bruce said helplessly.
Then, he made his move.
With his left hand, he deflected Damian's straight punch, and with his right hand, he grabbed the boy by the back of his collar, lifted him off the ground like a cat, and gently placed him on the stone platform beside him.
In a single instant, the entire movement was completed in one smooth motion.
Damian sat on the stone platform, his legs dangling in the air and swinging back and forth. He looked down at the distance between his feet and the ground, and suddenly fell silent.
Are you satisfied?
“You…” Damian jumped down from the stone platform, brushing the dust off his training clothes. “Your reaction speed is a little slower than I thought, but your strength control is very precise.”
Is this considered an objective evaluation?
Thank you for your review.
Talia stepped down from the main seat, her long robe trailing behind her, her gaze shifting back and forth between the father and son.
“Alright, that’s enough with the sentimentality,” Talia said, walking up to Damian and putting a hand on her son’s shoulder. “Damian, from today onwards, you will be going to Gotham with your father.”
"What about you?"
"I have other things to do."
“You have nothing else to say,” Damian bluntly exposed her. “You just don’t want to come with me.”
Talia didn't deny it. She bent down and kissed Damian on the forehead, then straightened up and looked at Bruce. "Take good care of my son. If he loses a single hair, the League of Assassins will make you pay."
"Then why did you hand him over to me?" Bruce asked.
"Because you need him more than I do. By the way, Damian, would you like to visit your grandfather before you leave?"
"do not want!"
