Lin Nan followed Matt and entered the law firm for the first time.
The furnishings inside were simple, but the documents were neatly arranged. There was no one else around; I wondered where my cousin Fudge had gone.
Matt walked to his desk, sat down, and tapped the chair next to him.
After Lin Nan sat down, she heard Attorney Matt say, "Norman's matter has basically been resolved."
“Thank you for your help, Mr. Matt,” Lin Nan said gratefully. “I have an idea, but I’d like to give it a try.”
Matt leaned forward slightly: "About Kingpin?"
Even the usually composed Daredevil spoke of this name with a hint of anger and hatred in his voice.
Lin Nan nodded: "My idea is to unite the forces that can be united, launch a precise strike against Kingpin's dark empire, and, in accordance with the law, send him to jail."
After listening, Matt said quietly, "The power you're talking about, are you referring to you, me, and Spider-Man?"
Lin Nan did not deny it: "Yes."
Attorney Matt remained silent, seemingly waiting for Lin Nan to add anything.
Lin Nan thought for a moment before saying, "Spider-Man has his own abilities, and I'm not weak either. Plus, with your understanding of him, we might have a chance to succeed."
Matt shook his head: "You're too young. You have no concept of his cunning and treachery. As for Spider-Man, he's just a high school student. Are you sure you want to get him involved?"
"You need to understand that Kingpin possesses resources and power that you can't even imagine."
Lin Nan sighed: "Attorney Matt, ever since Peter gained his powers and decided to help others become Spider-Man, he was destined to clash with Kingpin."
“I just brought the process forward, and I believe in Peter’s ability and potential. There is an old saying in the East: ‘If a man does not plan for the future, he will have trouble in the present.’ He needs to grow up quickly in order to face greater crises in the future.”
Upon hearing Lin Nan's words, Attorney Matt's keen senses picked up on something.
He frowned. "An even bigger crisis? Lin, ever since I met you, you've seemed very anxious. Do you know something?"
Lin Nan shook her head, not pointing it out, but simply said softly, "Peter needs to grow, Attorney Matt."
"More importantly, if we don't continue to do something, Kingpin's dark empire will continue to loom over this city and harm even more people."
Lin Nan didn't say it explicitly, but Attorney Matt didn't let the topic go. He looked up, and although he was blind, a captivating sharpness shone through his sunglasses.
"What you're doing is driven by a strong sense of urgency and has a very clear objective. Lin Nan, what exactly are you afraid of?"
In Daredevil's eyes, truth is just as important as justice.
Lin Nan didn't try to dodge the question. He sighed and said, "As you may have guessed, I have some precognitive abilities. This world is becoming increasingly dangerous. There was a great man in the East who said a profound truth."
"Make as many friends as possible and as few enemies as possible."
"And Kingpin, the biggest cancer in New York City, must be removed!"
Matt remained silent for a long time. In his senses, the world had indeed changed. The words of Lin Nan, the Eastern boy who possessed mysterious power, had indeed stirred up a huge wave in his heart.
The office grew quieter and quieter, with only the noise of the air conditioner breaking the silence.
After a long pause, Matt finally spoke: "I need your detailed plan. We must be cautious when facing Kingpin."
Hearing him say the word "we" made Lin Nan feel relieved.
“I know. I have already drafted a preliminary plan, which needs to be discussed with you and Peter. In addition, regarding the transfer of evidence, we can leverage the resources of the firm and the police, such as Officer George Stacy.”
Upon hearing the name, Matt raised an eyebrow: "George?"
Lin Nan explained, "He is upright and capable, and has been investigating Kingpin for a long time. I believe he would be very willing to provide support within the police force."
Matt thought for a moment and nodded seriously: "He is indeed a good cop, but we must be careful when we approach him, because procedural justice is also very important to him."
Lin Nan understood and realized that Matt was right.
The two discussed some details of the plan at the firm and agreed on the time and place for their next meeting.
Lin Nan left the law firm as dusk approached.
Daredevil's willingness to help means the plan is already halfway to success; there's no need to worry about Peter.
After meeting Peter, as expected, for this fledgling spider, justice and fighting evil were paramount. He patted his chest and assured him, "Don't worry, Lin, I will do my best!"
Lin Nan patted him on the shoulder with a smile: "For this mission, make sure you wear your hood properly and don't reveal your identity. Kingpin isn't Whiplash."
Night fell quickly, and even in the brightly lit New York, shadows appeared.
The joint operation of the Knight, Daredevil, and Spider-Man soon began.
In the backyard of an abandoned auto repair shop in Hell's Kitchen, the pale moonlight cast a deathly silence, like that of a graveyard.
Lin Nan stood beside a pile of broken tires, wearing a dark tracksuit with a ZZZ driver clipped to his chest.
Parker crouched on the roof of the shed, wearing the nearly complete suit of armor. He had mentioned that Gwen had also contributed to making this suit.
Although Gwen tactfully avoided naming Parker, the clever girl probably guessed something from the subtle clues.
Therefore, I have always offered some opinions on materials science, whether intentionally or unintentionally.
The current Spider-Man suit looks very high-quality and has been enhanced with many technological gadgets, all of which were made by Peter Parker himself.
Parker crouched on the roof, without a hood, repeatedly checking the operation of the web-shooters.
Although he uses a cavity to launch webs, the advantages of the web launcher have become very apparent in these battles.
Lin Nan looked at the slightly excited Spider-Man and asked, "Are you sure there are no sensors at the ventilation duct entrance at point B?"
“I just checked. I scanned it with a small detector. There are only two old-fashioned motion sensors near the entrance. In my jamming mode, I can disable them for a full 15 seconds, which is enough time for us to sneak in.” Peter seemed to be taking credit for his work.
The interference mode he mentioned refers to a function of the spider silk emitter, which can emit electromagnetic pulses of a corresponding frequency, and is very useful.
Then Peter said with some concern, "It's just a bit complicated inside, with a lot of cubicles, and it doesn't look like anything important is hidden up there."
"Over at point C..."
Lin Nan smiled and looked to the other side, saying, "Don't worry about point C. Matt loves this kind of complicated terrain, and besides, it's just a feint."
Over there, lawyer Matt leaned against the corner of the wall, motionless, looking cool.
Lin Nan and Peter both knew that Daredevil's senses were currently capturing every abnormality in the vicinity, in order to prevent anyone from eavesdropping or spying on him.
Matt finally straightened up: "In our plan, the key figure at point A is nicknamed 'The Accountant,' but his real name is Harris."
Chapter 40 begins
Attorney Matt's voice remained calm as always: "Tonight, Harris will be staying in his safe house. His life is very regular. Around 1 a.m., he will report the accounts to Kingpin via an encrypted channel."
“That safe house has a signal jammer and an alarm system. We must act quickly. This person is very important. Moreover, there are quite a few gangsters around the safe house. He’s a tough nut to crack.”
"Given his loyalty to Kingpin, he might not easily hand over the item."
Lin Nan immediately said, "Leave this tough nut to me, I'll figure something out."
"Peter, you're in charge of point B. Remember, your goal is to create chaos, attract the attention of the nearby gangs as much as possible, take some photos and leave. Avoid direct confrontation. If there is any danger, evacuate immediately."
“Attorney Matt, you’ll be in charge of point C. If they hear any rumors and try to move anything, stop them immediately.”
"If everything goes well, we will meet in one hour and forty minutes."
“Okay.” Parker pulled the hood up, his voice muffled.
Attorney Matt nodded silently, indicating that he had received the message.
Lin Nan emphasized: "If the situation changes, we must evacuate immediately. Our opponent is Kingpin, and any risk could lead to utter destruction."
The three exchanged a silent glance, and a tacit understanding appeared in the air.
Then, Parker raised his hand, and spider silk shot out, his voice echoing lightly, before disappearing into the towering buildings in a few moments.
Matt turned around, his figure flashing between the dark broken walls and alleyways, disappearing without a trace a few seconds later, as silently as a ninja master.
Lin Nan took a deep breath and inserted the wing-shaped Dream Capsule into the driver.
A low, almost inaudible sound effect rang out, and armor covering the entire body appeared, with huge red compound eyes gazing in the direction of the target.
Then, the plasma wings on his back unfolded and he soared into the sky. He did not pursue speed, because that would be too conspicuous. He simply moved through the shadows of the tall buildings, while using the Harmony Capsule to keep an eye out for any unusual movements around him.
So far, everything is going smoothly.
However, Kingpin, this underground emperor, is definitely not so easy to deal with.
With the wind whistling past his ears, Lin Nan stealthily made his way to the airspace above an inconspicuous bar in Brooklyn, hidden in the shadows of the buildings.
The bar is unremarkable from the outside, with a very old-fashioned decor and dim lighting. A few customers are scattered in the booths, chatting and watching the rugby game.
The second floor of the bar is completely different from the first floor. The thick carpet on the floor absorbs most of the footsteps, and the walls are covered with professional soundproofing materials, making it very quiet.
This is Kingpin's chief accountant, Harris's safe house and office.
At this moment, Harris sat in a large leather chair. He was about fifty years old, thin, and had his hair neatly styled, looking like a sophisticated banker.
He had a cigar dangling from his mouth, puffing out smoke.
Several computers were placed in front of him, and his fingers were typing rapidly on them.
Harris worked diligently, glancing at the old-fashioned clock on the wall; it was almost one in the morning.
He took a deep drag on his cigar and slammed the burning end into the ashtray.
He then picked up the satellite phone next to him, entered the code, and dialed.
However, at that moment, a slight static sound was heard, and then the satellite phone screen went black with a snap.
The screens of several computers instantly went blue, unable to receive any network signal, and then went out with a snap.
Harris abruptly put down the satellite phone. His years of heightened alertness made him quickly reach for his waist and pull out a small, pocket-sized pistol.
But the next second, all the lights in the room went out, and even the emergency lights stopped working.
The entire room was plunged into darkness, and the atmosphere became terrifying.
Harris's pores opened up, and cold sweat instantly soaked through his shirt.
This kind of operation is definitely not carried out by the police or secret agents; it is most likely by vigilantes dressed in strange costumes who operate in the dead of night.
He quickly retreated behind the desk, where there was a hidden door. The moment he touched the handle, he pulled it open forcefully!
Not moving at all!
