Xiao Hongchen opened his mouth, then closed it again; he felt his brain wasn't quite working properly.

Every time Kong Deming praised him, his shoulders slumped.

But then Kong Deming added, "You can think about this new question that Yuhao raised when you get back."

"What materials can withstand the peak pressure of dual-frequency resonance? I will check on you in class tomorrow."

The word "spot check" sent a chill down Xiao Hongchen's spine.

For the rest of the morning, Kong Deming posed one question after another.

Each question was so tricky it made one's scalp tingle.

Xiao Hongchen initially gritted his teeth and tried to compete with Huo Yuhao, but his idea had only just begun.

Huo Yuhao had already presented his complete answer in a clear and logical manner, and sometimes he could even come up with one or two new ideas that made Kong Deming stop and think for a moment.

Once, twice, three times.

Xiao Hongchen secretly encouraged himself: "Next time, next time I will definitely be faster than Huo Yuhao."

But when Kong Deming asked the seventh question and Huo Yuhao gave the answer without even pausing, the taut string in Xiao Hongchen's mind finally snapped.

He slumped in his chair, his eyes bloodshot, staring intently at the calm-looking boy before him, his heart filled with a turbulent sense of defeat.

For the entire morning, he couldn't even answer a single complete question. Often, just as he was starting to get a vague idea, Huo Yuhao would have already analyzed the problem thoroughly from beginning to end.

He had never experienced this feeling before.

That suffocating feeling of being completely outmatched in intelligence and reaction time.

Meng Hongchen's sense of defeat was not much better than her brother's, but when she looked at Huo Yuhao, there was no resentment in her eyes, only amazement and curiosity.

She never imagined that such a genius existed in the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy.

Every answer and every extension from Huo Yuhao showed her a completely new world she had never been to before.

The gap was so vast that she couldn't even feel jealousy; all she felt was heartfelt admiration.

The discussion continued until noon. After Kong Deming finished explaining the last point, Huo Yuhao, as usual, gave an impeccable answer.

Kong Deming nodded in satisfaction, placed the carving knife on the table, and said, "Alright, that's all for today. You can go and rest now."

He paused, glanced at Xiao Hongchen and Meng Hongchen again, and added, "If there's anything you two didn't understand in class, you can ask Yuhao for help. He can answer your questions."

These words struck Xiao Hongchen like a dull thud.

He gritted his teeth, clenched his fists at his sides, stared at Huo Yuhao with bloodshot eyes, and moved his lips for a long time, but couldn't utter a single word.

Huo Yuhao ignored Xiao Hongchen's gaze, bowed to Kong Deming, and then turned and walked out of the laboratory.

Meng Hongchen glanced at her brother, then at Huo Yuhao's retreating figure, and suddenly strode off to catch up.

"Senior Brother Huo," she called out from behind Huo Yuhao.

Huo Yuhao stopped and turned around, a hint of surprise in his eyes: "You called me senior brother?"

Meng Hongchen smiled, her wine-red eyes sparkling under the light, her voice clear and frank: "You started learning from Master Kong before us, so it's only right that we call you senior brother."

Huo Yuhao glanced at her, then turned and continued walking out, saying, "I'm going to the cafeteria now. If you didn't understand something in class, come along, and I'll answer it for you."

“Okay, then I’ll go with my senior brother.” Meng Hongchen smiled and quickened her pace to catch up with him.

After taking a few steps, she seemed to suddenly remember something, turned back and called out to Xiao Hongchen, who was still standing there in a daze, "Xiao, what are you still standing there for? Aren't you coming with us?"

Xiao Hongchen seemed to wake from a dream, stiffened his neck, and snorted heavily: "I'm not going, I have nothing to ask."

Meng Hongchen glanced at him helplessly and shook her head.

She knew her brother too well; his pride was higher than the sky. Asking him to ask a boy several years younger than himself for advice would probably be worse than killing him.

She didn't try to persuade him any further, turned around, and followed Huo Yuhao out of the laboratory without looking back.

The metal door slowly closed behind the two of them.

In the empty laboratory, only Xiao Hongchen stood alone in front of the lab table, his eyes fixed on the closed door, the suffocating feeling in his chest almost making him burst.

He silently counted in his mind, hoping that Meng Hongchen would push the door open again and call him, even if it was just one more time, so that he could take the opportunity to back down.

He didn't understand most of those seven questions.

These questions were all stuck in his mind, making him increasingly restless and eager to try them out.

But Meng Hongchen never looked back. Not even once.

Xiao Hongchen stood there for a long time, gritting his teeth. The questions he couldn't understand were crawling all over him like ants, making him feel uncomfortable.

He finally couldn't hold back any longer. Gritting his teeth, he stomped his foot angrily, rushed out of the laboratory, and secretly followed the two in the direction they had gone.

"I went there to listen to the questions, not to ask him for advice!"

Huo Yuhao and Meng Hongchen entered the cafeteria one after the other, immediately causing quite a stir among those around them.

Meng Hongchen was already a recognized celebrity at the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy.

Not to mention her outstanding talent in soul guidance and her cultivation level approaching that of a Soul King at the age of fourteen.

Her long, silvery-white hair and wine-red eyes alone were enough to make her the center of attention wherever she went.

Huo Yuhao, who was walking beside her, was a relatively unfamiliar face. Many students glanced back and forth between the two of them several times, but they couldn't remember when such a person had appeared in the academy.

Those gazes were filled with undisguised envy and jealousy, especially when Meng Hongchen turned her head and smiled sweetly at Huo Yuhao, the whispers around them rose several notches.

Huo Yuhao ignored this and went straight to an empty table in the corner to sit down. He then got up and went to the window to buy food.

Meng Hongchen pressed down on the corner of the table before he could, and said with a smile, "Since it is I who want to ask my senior brother a question, I will treat you to this meal today."

Huo Yuhao glanced at her and nodded. Although he wasn't short of money, he figured he might as well take advantage of it.

He took the menu from Meng Hongchen, his gaze skipping over the first few rows and settling steadily on the most expensive deluxe medicinal cuisine set meal at the bottom. With a flick of his finger, he had ordered.

Meng Hongchen paid the money without even blinking.

This expense is nothing to her.

She was able to reach a cultivation level close to that of a Soul King at the age of fourteen. Besides her talent, she had also invested countless pills and rare treasures.

The money from just one bottle of pills is enough for an ordinary student to eat medicinal meals for several months.

It's just a meal, not worth mentioning at all.

The two carried their trays back to their seats, and Huo Yuhao began to explain to her the few questions she hadn't fully understood in class while eating.

His speaking pace was neither too fast nor too slow, yet he always managed to get straight to the point in just a few words, breaking down complex circuit linkages and frequency interferences in a simple and clear way.

At first, Meng Hongchen would occasionally chime in with a few questions, but later he could only nod almost constantly.

Those wine-red eyes stared intently at Huo Yuhao, their gazes filled with seriousness and focus.

Just as the two were having a deep conversation, a figure sneaked into the cafeteria.

Xiao Hongchen tiptoed around to the table behind Huo Yuhao and sat down. He deliberately pulled up the collar of his school uniform, hunched over, and huddled in the chair, craning his ears to look ahead.

Huo Yuhao's explanation drifted into his ears intermittently, and his expression became incredibly varied.

His brows furrowed and relaxed at times, and a knowing smile unconsciously curved his lips.

Then, as if suddenly realizing something, he quickly put on a serious face, picked up the cup on the table, and pretended to drink water as if nothing had happened.

Huo Yuhao had naturally noticed the clumsy eavesdropper behind him long ago, but he was too lazy to expose him.

He finished explaining the last question in detail, picked up his empty plate, stood up, and said to Meng Hongchen in a low voice, "I suppose you understand now. I have other things to do, so I'll be leaving now."

Meng Hongchen quickly stood up, bowed slightly to him, and said with a sweet smile, "Thank you, Senior Brother Huo. Goodbye, Senior Brother Huo."

Huo Yuhao left without looking back.

Meng Hongchen remained standing there, watching his figure disappear into the cafeteria entrance.

A strange light flickered in his wine-red eyes, and he seemed to still be reeling from the brilliant explanations he had just received.

She was jolted awake when a hand waved in front of her eyes several times.

"Hey, snap out of it." Xiao Hongchen had appeared beside her at some point, his face full of mischief.

Meng Hongchen was startled. After recognizing the person, she patted her chest and asked in surprise, "Xiao, when did you get here?"

"I've been here for a while, but you were so engrossed in listening that you didn't notice," Xiao Hongchen snorted irritably.

Meng Hongchen blinked, then gave a look of sudden realization, her lips curving upwards slightly: "Oh, you came to eavesdrop."

"What...what eavesdropping!" Xiao Hongchen's face flushed red instantly, and his voice involuntarily rose a few decibels, attracting the attention of students at the next table.

"Can you call it eavesdropping when it comes to studying? I just... I just happened to be sitting in the back and overheard it!"

Meng Hongchen rolled her eyes at him, too lazy to expose her arrogant older brother.

He then sat back down in his chair, his gaze involuntarily drifting towards the cafeteria entrance, a faint smile still playing on his lips.

Looking at his younger sister's absent-minded appearance, Xiao Hongchen felt more and more that something was wrong.

He glared at her, lowered his voice, and leaned closer to ask, "Meng, you don't actually like that guy, do you? You always said you liked handsome guys, right? That guy isn't even that handsome, is he?"

What he said wasn't entirely unfair to Huo Yuhao.

From a worldly perspective, Huo Yuhao is indeed not handsome.

Although his features were regular, they were far from being so striking that they could make someone fall in love at first sight.

Chapter 63 The Emperor Summons Me (Please continue reading!)

It was his unique, calm, almost aloof demeanor, and his deep blue eyes that seemed to hold the entire starry sky.

The longer you look at him, the more you become drawn in, and even your initial impression of his appearance becomes blurred.

Meng Hongchen's cheeks flushed almost imperceptibly for a moment, but she quickly suppressed it.

She glared at Xiao Hongchen, a hint of annoyance in her voice, "Who said I like it?"

She stopped mid-sentence.

Then she gently bit her lip, her voice softening, her tone carrying a hint of confusion that she couldn't quite explain: "I just think... he's kind of attractive."
