With his mental defenses completely broken, it would be incredibly easy for Huo Yuhao to deliver a mental suggestion.

He planted a hint deep in the subconscious of both Wang Shaojie and Zimu.

Once the effects of the Touch of Chaos wear off, the two will completely forget what happened to them.

Even if others remind them afterwards, they can't remember anything.

Not only that, their attitude towards Huo Yuhao will also subtly change. They will no longer have any thoughts of revenge, and they won't even pay attention to him on a daily basis.

In this way, all those ridiculous and messy things that would happen in the lab in the future can be completely eliminated.

Upon arriving at the cafeteria, Huo Yuhao went up to the second floor as usual and ordered the most expensive medicinal meal.

After the steaming hot medicinal food was consumed, the warm medicinal power flowed slowly through his meridians, guiding him to integrate into his limbs and bones.

As he ate, he pondered his next steps. He should find some time to talk to Nana tonight.

As long as it has enough souls to devour, it can quickly restore its strength.

Chapter 40 The Promise (Please read on!)

Night falls at the Sun and Moon Royal Soul Master Academy.

After returning from the cafeteria, Huo Yuhao has been cultivating in his dormitory.

Moonlight streamed through the gaps in the curtains, casting a thin, silvery line on the floor. The room was so quiet that only his even breathing could be heard.

After an unknown amount of time, he slowly opened his eyes, his blue pupils flashing slightly in the darkness.

“It’s about time,” he muttered to himself. “By now, she’s probably just come back from visiting her parents at the Holy Spirit Church.”

In his world, the Holy Spirit Church and he were mostly connected through Nana.

Having interacted with her many times, Huo Yuhao naturally knew her daily routine very well.

On this night of every month, she would visit the souls of her parents, who were imprisoned there, at a secret stronghold of the Holy Spirit Cult, and then return to the academy, exhausted and in pain.

Huo Yuhao got out of bed, opened the dormitory door, and in a flash, silently disappeared into the night.

Nana's dormitory is on the fourth floor of the girls' dormitory building, not far from where Huo Yuhao lives.

With his current strength, evading several patrol posts and soul-guided detection devices would be a piece of cake.

A moment later, he was standing in front of the door.

Inside the dormitory, Nana closed the door behind her and locked it.

The instant the door lock closed, the cold facade on her face crumbled like shattered ice.

Her shoulders slumped, her straight back bent into a weary curve, and her usually icy face was filled with deep weariness.

She staggered to the bedside, then collapsed onto the bed as if all her strength had been drained, her eyes staring straight at the ceiling.

She went there again tonight. She saw her parents again.

The parents' souls were trapped in the dark and sunless soul box of the Holy Spirit Cult. Each time they met, their souls were thinner and dimmer than the last.

She knelt before them, calling out to them again and again, but they couldn't even respond with a complete sentence.

She knew that it wouldn't be long before her parents' souls would be completely consumed and reduced to nothingness.

But there was nothing she could do.

She could only continue to serve the Holy Spirit Church, doing the dirtiest things for the people who killed her parents.

He used repeated acts against his conscience to earn those meager, precarious chances to meet.

"Dad, Mom..." Nana pressed her arm to her eyes, two lines of tears silently sliding down her cheeks and soaking into the hair at her temples. "How can I possibly get you out of here?"

"I can help you."

A voice that didn't belong to her suddenly rang out in the room.

The voice was soft, calm, and composed, yet it exploded in her ears like a thunderclap.

Nana sprang out of bed almost instinctively, her left hand reaching to her waist, where she grasped a gleaming short blade.

She was like a frightened mother leopard, her muscles tense to the extreme, her gaze piercing towards the door like a knife.

She didn't know when, but her dormitory door had been opened.

A boy dressed in black stood there quietly, his back to the dim light in the corridor, his face hidden in the shadows.

But judging from his short stature, he was only an eleven or twelve-year-old child.

"Who are you?" Nana's voice was so cold it could freeze.

She stared intently at the uninvited guest before her, her keen senses, amplified by her Martial Soul Ghost, instantly filling the entire room.

However, she could not sense even the slightest trace of soul power from this young man.

This discovery did not put her at ease; on the contrary, it heightened her vigilance to the extreme.

Huo Yuhao did not answer her question, but slowly raised his right hand.

With his five fingers spread, a ball of inky black light silently appeared in his palm.

The light was not dazzling, but it was extremely deep, as if a miniature abyss was held in the palm of one's hand.

The moment that ball of light appeared, the air in the entire room seemed to freeze.

All the light seemed to collapse in that direction, and even the flickering flame in the oil lamp in the corner seemed to freeze for a moment.

Nana's expression suddenly changed drastically. She could clearly feel that the ghostly martial spirit within her body was trembling violently.

That wasn't fear, but a kind of instinctive tremor that came from the depths of the soul, like the tremor that a lower-level being would feel when facing a higher-level being.

Her grip on the short blade loosened involuntarily, and a voice inside her screamed wildly.

The person before her was more terrifying than anyone she had ever seen.

Huo Yuhao clenched his five fingers, and the dark light vanished without a trace, as if it had never existed.

The oppressive feeling in the room dissipated, the lamp in the corner started flickering again, and everything returned to normal.

"I'm here to help you," Huo Yuhao said calmly, his tone as indifferent as if nothing had just happened.

Nana took a few deep breaths, forcibly suppressing the surging horror in her heart.

She was immediately filled with doubt. Why would this person, who possessed such great power, come to help her? What did she have that this powerful person would want from her?

Besides, this powerful person looks way too young, doesn't he?

She slowly sheathed her dagger, but the wariness in her eyes remained undiminished: "Why are you helping me? What do you want from me?"

"It's very simple." Huo Yuhao looked at her and got straight to the point. "Introduce me into the Holy Spirit Cult, and you don't need to worry about the rest."

When Nana heard the words "Holy Spirit Cult," her heart skipped a beat.

She then realized that her identity had been completely exposed in front of this person.

If he knows about her parents, he must know about her relationship with the Holy Spirit Church.

She stared intently at the boy who looked no more than eleven or twelve years old, desperately searching her memory for any recollection of his face, but found nothing.

She asked herself if she had ever revealed her true identity as a member of the Holy Spirit Cult, having been lurking in the academy for so many years without ever showing any weakness to anyone.

But this person saw right through it all, effortlessly.

In an instant, countless speculations surged through her mind.

Were they sent by the Holy Spirit to test her loyalty? Or were they people within the academy who had noticed something amiss and wanted to take advantage of the situation to target her?

Her fingertips unconsciously dug into her palms, and her breathing became a little erratic.

Huo Yuhao looked at her face, which was trying to remain calm but couldn't hide her panic, and saw clearly the various guesses that were going on in her mind.

He didn't beat around the bush and directly reassured her.

"Don't worry, I'm not from the Holy Spirit Cult. At the Sun Moon Royal Soul Master Academy, I'm just an ordinary student. You don't need to overthink it."

He paused, his tone still calm, yet carrying an undeniable certainty, "You know I have no reason to lie to you."

Nana paused for a moment, then her tense shoulders slowly relaxed.

Chapter 41 The Reborn Tang Princess (Please continue reading!)

Yes, the power that this person just displayed, the aura that made even her ghostly martial spirit tremble, did not belong to any of the high-ranking members of the Holy Spirit Cult she had ever seen.

If a powerful figure of this caliber truly wanted to harm her, they would have simply taken action. Why go to such lengths to fabricate lies to deceive her into becoming a pawn working for the Holy Spirit Cult?

"Okay." Nana took a deep breath, looked into Huo Yuhao's eyes, and said firmly, "I promise you."

Huo Yuhao nodded slightly, seemingly unsurprised by the answer. "A wise choice."

He turned around and stepped into the shadows of the corridor, his voice drifting lightly from the darkness, "I'll come find you again at the same time tomorrow. We'll go to the Holy Spirit Church together then."

As soon as he finished speaking, his figure disappeared at the end of the corridor.

Nana stood blankly in the middle of the room, staring in the direction he had disappeared, motionless for a long time.

Everything that happened in those few short moments was so fast that she was in a daze.

That person is gone, but the aura that made her soul tremble seems to still linger in the air.

Her eyes held a mixture of confusion and a kind of inexplicable expectation.

This was the first time in all the years she had been controlled by the Holy Spirit Cult that someone had said to her, "I can help you."

She didn't know who this person was, nor what his purpose was in helping her.

But she knew this was the only lifeline she could grasp.

Besides this, she couldn't think of any other way to fight against the behemoth that was the Holy Spirit Cult, or to save her parents who were gradually disappearing.

Heavenly Soul Empire, Shrek Academy.

Today is the last day for Shrek Academy to recruit new students.

The once bustling and noisy registration line at the East Gate has dispersed, and the city has returned to its usual solemn and quiet state.

However, quite a few freshmen still arrived just in time and walked into the college in twos and threes.
