Meanwhile, the opposition lawmakers felt even more uneasy seeing Edgar's smiling face.

"With Hoffer laughing like that, the Federation is about to enter an era of political terror."

"Sigh, let's say less. We can't object this time."

"This is my biggest concession. If the FBI tries to push their luck, I will definitely fight for my rights!"

Opposition lawmakers were having a hard time, while those who supported Rosef were all smiles.

"The President is wise!"

"Those damned spies dared to run wild in the Federation. They deserve a thorough investigation and to teach them a lesson!"

"Also, check out the Republican Party."

Of course, besides these two groups of members of parliament, there are other voices of discussion in Congress.

"So, these are the two proposals for today?"

"It should be; the meeting will be adjourned soon."

What are we going to eat later?

The other end hadn't had a chance to reply yet.

Boom boom boom!

The speaker suddenly struck the gavel: "Now, let's move on to the next item on the agenda!"

The somewhat noisy scene suddenly quieted down.

"Next on the agenda?"

"Why are there still more?"

"We didn't receive any prior notice!"

The lawmakers were bewildered. The last time Congress was in session, the president would suddenly introduce a new bill after the previous one had been discussed.

It's like launching a surprise attack.

It caught everyone off guard.

Are you coming again this time?

When will this ever end?!

Immediately afterwards, under the watchful eyes of everyone, William Woodin was invited to the podium.

After a day of rest, the finance minister's pale complexion finally regained some color.

“Mr. Speaker.”

Wu Ding opened the document and faced the members of Congress below the stage.

"The Ministry of Finance officially submitted the draft Banking Law today."

"This bill aims to: restructure the federal banking system, protect public deposits, clarify financial responsibilities, and strengthen financial regulation..."

Wu Ding read aloud the summary of the Banking Law in his hand.

Each sentence read aloud was like a bombshell exploding in Congress.

The lawmakers looked at each other in bewilderment.

"The Ministry of Finance is going to split up the banks?"

"Mandatory regulation? Is this going to nationalize the banking industry?"

"Wall Street will never back down!"

Good guy.

Any one of these articles in the Banking Law is of great importance.

Now they're all gathered together.

What exactly is the First Lady trying to do?!

When Wu Ding finished reading the summary of the Banking Act, the chamber erupted in uproar.

A member of parliament suddenly stood up.

He said in an unfriendly tone, "Mr. Minister, I would like to ask, was this bill really drafted independently by the Treasury Department?"

This is the beginning of finding the person responsible.

Wu Ding's personality is familiar to everyone. Although he is a progressive, he is passionate about reconciliation at heart and would never propose such a radical bill!

Who is it?

This is the kind of thing they wrote!

However, Wu Ding's expression did not change when faced with the sudden questioning.

He said casually, "It was drafted by the Ministry of Finance."

"I asked if it was drafted independently by the Ministry of Finance!"

The congressman emphasized, "Wooden, you are sensible and know that given the current state of the Federation, it is simply not appropriate to take such a big step."

"Who on earth designed such a bill?!"

Many lawmakers quickly joined in the commotion.

"That's right! Who is it?!"

"Do you dare to step forward?!"

"Have you considered the consequences of proposing such a bill?"

In the audience, Eleanor took a deep breath.

It's time for me to take the stage.

We can't let old man Wu Ding face this pressure alone.

So he stood up and went straight to the witness stand.

The councilors noticed Eleanor, turned their gazes toward her, and then it dawned on them.

It's you again?!

Elijah Hopkins, Special Assistant to the President.

That guy who embarrassed Lyman on the radio!

You're wreaking havoc on the Federation again!?

Eleanor walked to the witness stand, facing the congressman who had just protested.

"The Banking Act was developed by Mr. Wooding and me based on our discussions and summaries of the current federal situation."

Eleanor said calmly into the microphone, "If you have any questions, you can ask them here, and I will answer them for you."

It really was you, kid!

The congressman who had just been protesting suddenly perked up.

No wonder the president suddenly became so radical.

So there were bad people around me!

"Eleanor Hopkins! It was you!"

The congressman slammed his fist on the table, his voice filled with righteous indignation: "Why did you even propose this bill? Are you trying to coerce the federal government and fight against your own taxpayer businesses?!"

As expected of a seasoned legislator, he immediately started by labeling someone.

Eleanor did not respond.

"I don't understand what you're talking about."

He calmly stated, "I was simply fulfilling my duty to help the President resolve her issues."

"Don't understand? I think you understand too much!"

The lawmakers retorted, "You deliberately introduced this bill to destroy federal finances!"

Eleanor's expression remained unchanged.

"Am I destroying federal finance?"

He said, "No! It's clearly finance that's destroying the Union!"

Chapter 55: The Meeting Proves Inconclusive

Upon hearing this, the congressman almost laughed in anger.

Is finance destroying the federation?

You really dare to say that!

"Absurd!" the senator exclaimed angrily.

"Where is the absurdity?"

Eleanor was puzzled. "Minister Woodin just made it so clear that the way banks are operating now has huge hidden dangers."

"I'm sharing the nation's burdens and proposing solutions to restore banks to their proper place. Where's the absurdity in that?"

Don't talk nonsense with your eyes wide open!

The senator was thoroughly enraged by Eleanor's nonchalant attitude.

To share the nation's burdens?

You call this sharing the nation's burdens?

Don't think we're all fools.

Anyone with eyes can see that you are pushing for the nationalization of banks; this is just the first step in testing the waters!

"Hopkins, don't think you've hidden it well!"
