Look for those who are alone.

It cannot be done openly.

To assassinate.

There must be no eyewitnesses.

As he walked out of the winding alleyway, at the entrance, Thoth looked around at the streets, now littered with traces of pirate destruction.

Suddenly, a woman's scream and two bursts of excited laughter came from a house not far away.

Thoth's eyes flashed, and he ran out of the alley and rushed over. Soon, he arrived in front of a house with its gate broken open, his gaze passing over the narrow courtyard.

In the living room, the door was wide open, and two pirate men were pinning a woman down on the table.

The sound of tearing fabric, two white legs struggling and kicking, a woman crying out, and pirates howling excitedly.

"Hahaha, this bitch is fucking hot! Absolutely juicy."

"Hick, hurry up."

"What's the rush? Why don't we all attack together?"

The colleague, engrossed in getting things done, didn't notice the uninvited guest arriving at the door.

Looking around, there were no other pirates on either side of the street. Thoth walked steadily toward the inside, and in a few breaths, he arrived at the door of the living room. He darted forward like a rabbit, gripped his sword with both hands, and stabbed it into the back of one of the men.

*Splash!* With a sound, blood splattered, accompanied by the pirate's scream.

Immediately afterwards, Thoth released his grip on the hilt and suddenly charged to the side. Another pirate stared in disbelief as Thoth charged at him, his lewd grin still lingering on his face, his sword still sheathed.

Close in, gather your strength for an uppercut.

With a loud thud, Thoth's right fist struck his jaw hard, sending several yellowed teeth flying. The pirate's eyes rolled back, and he fell straight backward.

With a muffled thud, Toth stepped forward and stomped hard on his neck, breaking the bone with a crack.

After kicking him twice more, a faint warm current surged from deep within his body.

All of this happened in just a few seconds. The pirate who had been stabbed in the lower back was still screaming in agony when the woman lying on the table, who had just come to her senses, kicked him to the ground.

His back slammed into the ground, and with a soft thud, the sword tip pierced straight through his abdomen.

Thoth looked at the woman, whose eyes were still filled with terror. He took a step forward, got close, and punched her in the jaw. The woman screamed and collapsed onto the table unconscious, her face blank and bewildered.

Thoth exhaled, then came to the pirate, kicked him over, and drew his sword.

A few seconds later, a faint warm current surged out from deep within her body once again.

Just then, a sudden system notification appeared from the depths of my consciousness.

It appeared in Thoth's mind as comprehensible information.

[Note: Your swordsmanship proficiency has reached the maximum level ("Beginner 10/10"). Your swordsmanship skill will automatically advance.]

[Hint: Your swordsmanship skill has improved from "Beginner" to "Introductory Level"!]

[Hint: Your swordsmanship is at "Beginner Level" 0/100. The next level is "Practice Makes Perfect".]

A series of clues appeared in his mind and were understood by Thoth.

However, at this moment, Thoth's attention was not on the prompt, because at this instant, some unfamiliar memories suddenly surged into his mind.

Some memories of focusing intently on sword practice, modeled after oneself.

When raving a sword, the tip of the sword is pointed directly at the target, the arm is extended from a bent position to a straight line with the sword, and the force is concentrated at the tip of the sword.

The sword strike is executed by wielding the sword from top to bottom, focusing the force on the blade. The movement is swift and powerful, coordinated with a downward sinking of the body and a twisting of the waist, concentrating the power on the blade.

The sword is raised and thrust upwards in a close, curved motion, drawing power from the front of the blade and utilizing the strength of the waist and legs to assist the attack.

Point, hang, collapse, intercept, cloud...

The most basic sword techniques appeared in my mind, and I practiced them in my mind in coordination with my footwork and breathing.

At the same time, Thoth's body was also undergoing some subtle changes.

This is a kind of physical memory that slowly emerges through daily practice in swordsmanship.

Swordsmanship: a beginner's introduction, a glimpse into the basics.

Thoth's gaze slowly focused, and the basic sword techniques in his mind seemed to be firmly engraved in his body and mind.

Holding the sword, a sense of security arises.

Quietly savor the moment, grip the sword, and with each step and breath, unleash a series of thrusts, slashes, and horizontal cuts in the air.

Thoth has been able to use the sword more quickly, accurately, and effortlessly by adjusting and distributing the power within his body.

It's as if you've practiced for a long time, year after year, and you naturally understand these basic sword techniques.

No longer a complete novice who only knew a little bit and used a sword like a fire poker.

With a thought, Thoth's mind appeared, and the light screen panel appeared. His attributes had not increased, but Thoth believed that his combat power was already different.

At this moment, the proficiency in unarmed combat had also improved slightly.

(Beginner 6→7/10)

He silently encouraged himself, "I can become even stronger; I only need three more."

Three what? Not hard to guess!

He took a deep breath, glanced at the unconscious woman lying on the table, searched the room, then carried her to the bedroom, opened the closet and stuffed her inside.

This is compassion as a human being.

As for the two pirates, they were grabbed by the legs and thrown into a corner.

Slightly close the living room door.

Just as they arrived outside the courtyard, a middle-aged, bald pirate suddenly ran out from the alleyway opposite. Thoth recognized him; he was a cruel and shameless fellow.

"Oh? Isn't this Tote?"

The pirate looked at him with mockery, "What are you doing here? Where are Kanis and the others?"

He certainly knew about the discord between Tot and the rest of the team.

Upon hearing the sound, Thoth glanced behind him without showing any emotion, but there was no one else there.

That makes sense, though. This guy isn't popular on the ship. He's greedy and has a really foul mouth.

He cheated while playing cards.

Nobody wanted to see him.

And he even tricked Tote.

If it weren't for his ruthless methods and being the captain's lackey, he would have been dead long ago.

Then, a look of resentment appeared on his face at the opportune moment, and he muttered curses:

"They kicked me out; there seemed to be something good in this house."

Hearing that Toth didn't seem to be faking it, Morton, that old scoundrel, rolled his eyes and smiled slyly:

"Is that so? Come on, you and your brother go in together. They're so outrageous, they even dared to bully you. Come on, your brother will take you to teach them a lesson."

As he spoke, he walked up to Toth, patted Toth's shoulder forcefully in a hearty manner, and gave Toth a fierce look, signaling him to follow.

Watching his retreating figure, Toth calmly followed and entered the courtyard once more.

As they approached the living room door, Morton stopped, turned to look at Thoth, frowned, and asked in a low voice with a wary look in his eyes:

"Why does it smell like blood inside?"

"It was just a townsman who put up a fight, and he's already been killed."

Thoth came to his side, and Morton's wariness lessened slightly, but for some reason there was something off about it.

Just then, a cold glint flashed in my peripheral vision. I saw Thoth gripping his sword, the blade suddenly slashing upwards from his side.

When he turned around, his pupils suddenly contracted, and he quickly darted forward, but the slightly closed door hindered his movements.

With a soft "thud," the not-so-sharp blade sliced through his upper arm, splattering blood as Morton let out a painful groan, bursting through the door and staggering inside.

At the same time, Thoth caught up and approached with steady steps, kicking him straight in the back, causing the latter to groan and crash into the table inside.

It emitted a piercing sound.

He lost his balance, and just then, Thoth stepped forward and swung his sword. A flash of cold light appeared in the air, and the sword slashed across the back of his neck.

A splatter of thick, sticky blood.

Morton slumped onto the table.

Swordsmanship Proficiency +1

003. The tragedy of the weak!

The familiar warmth returned, but Tote's expression remained unchanged.

Anyone who has seen blood knows that, just like a young wild beast, once it has tasted the blood, its ingrained hunting instincts are awakened.

Humans are, in a sense, ferocious beasts.

The eyes of someone whose hands have been stained with blood are different from those of someone who has never seen blood.

As each life slips through my fingers, a certain obstacle in my heart is removed, just like that flexible bottom line.

It can be used to break through.

Killing leads to adaptation.

Adaptation inspires courage.

The brave are fearless and undaunted.

Thoth gripped his sword tightly, as if savoring the feeling of slicing through the flesh of his enemy with the blade.

Use the lives of your enemies to nourish yourself and become stronger.

No longer fearful or hesitant, the sword in his hand was like a sharpened claw, ready to devour anyone who might harm him.

He picked up Morton's body, threw it into the pile of corpses in the corner, stared at it for a moment, then closed the door and went out again.
