"Don't you have an office building? Like the New York Police Department, which has the New York Police Department," John asked, puzzled.

“Ordinary staff work in the upper-level buildings, while most of the agents with classified information work in the underground section. We need to ensure security, and the secret bases hidden underground are secure enough. We can continue working even if a nuclear bomb explodes,” Blake explained.

John took out a pen and began to sign, also pressing his fingerprint on the document. He had decided to join S.H.I.E.L.D.

Director Black also signed and fingerprinted the documents, and the final paper documents still needed the president's signature. Director Black had to personally take this stack of documents to Washington, D.C.

"Do you need to give yourself a code name?" Director Blake asked.

"Code name? Baba Yaga?"

“It’s too loud. Some people will think you’ve come back to being an assassin,” Chief Black said.

“Whatever… let’s call him V,” John Wick said, a sudden inspiration striking him.

"V, I understand."

John Wick is not his real name, nor is Jonathan Wick. His real name is Jovonovich, and the code name "V" comes from this real name.

"I have to catch my flight, John."

Thank you for your trust.

When Chief Black and John came out of the study, Liqun, Gwen, Peter, and Helen were playing the new board game that Chief Black had given them in the living room.

Chapter 70 A Series of Miracles

"What happened? I'm bankrupt?"

In the classic board game Monopoly, Gwen became the ultimate winner, buying 90% of the land on the map. Liqun persisted until his assets were exhausted but he never found a chance to turn the tables.

Peter was the first player to go bankrupt and be eliminated, and Helen was the second.

Liqun operated cautiously, but Gwen had incredible luck and somehow became the ultimate player who won everything.

“Peter, do you see that? This is the development process of capital monopoly,” Li Qun said to Peter.

“This can’t be explained by mathematics!” Peter exclaimed.

“There was a bit of luck involved; with just a few successful investments, my assets doubled,” Gwen said happily.

"Shall we start another game?" Helen asked.

What time is it?

Peter looked at Li Qun, who glanced at the time; it was time for them to go home. Each game of board games lasted at least two hours, and if they played another game, they would play until dark.

“Happy times always pass too quickly, we have to go,” Peter said.

"It would be great if you could stay the night," Helen said regretfully.

“Actually, we were worried about disturbing your rest,” Gwen said.

“Playing games in moderation is good for your health,” Li Qun said.

The three of them began to tidy up, restoring the living room to its original state, including Peter's advanced mathematics textbook and draft paper, Gwen's Monopoly game, and Li Qun's plastic bottles from collecting drinking water.

"Goodbye."

"Goodbye." The three of them waved together.

Helen and John watched the trio leave once again.

“John, are you jealous of them?” Helen turned to John and asked.

“What? I’m jealous of them? Three kids? How could that be?” John shook his head in denial.

“It feels like they’ve stolen me away,” Helen said.

“No,” John said.

"These past two days, I feel like I've gone back to high school, carefree."

"High school?"

John had no high school experience; his adolescence was spent in brutal assassin training, and shortly after turning 18, his family arranged for him to join the army.

"What did you and Mr. Blake talk about in the study?" Helen asked.

“He introduced me to a job, and I accepted it after thinking about it,” John said.

What kind of job is it?

“I can’t disclose the details, but it’s legitimate work, and I’ve signed a confidentiality agreement,” John replied.

"Hoo~!"

"What's wrong?" John put his arm around Helen's shoulder.

“Actually, I’ve been worried about this all along. John, we’ve been living off your grandfather’s inheritance, and we didn’t know when it would all run out. Now I can finally breathe a sigh of relief, you have a job,” Helen said.

"Ah."

John cannot reveal his past to Helen, and Helen's understanding of John is always shrouded in a web of lies.

John was very wealthy and living a pre-retirement life. He couldn't bring himself to tell Helen why he was so rich and didn't need to work. Family inheritance was a convenient excuse.

……

……

A week later, Dad received a call from Wade.

Wade called his dad to tell him that all the paperwork was done and he could come to the dealership to pick up his Mazda.

Wade patted the hood of the car, and the old man smiled as he walked towards Wade.

"Look, I had this car washed before I handed it over."

As Wade spoke, he handed a brown paper document bag to his father.

The old man took the file bag, opened it, took out the documents, and carefully checked them. After finding no problems, he put the documents back into the brown paper file bag.

Dad and Wade got into the car together, while Liqun sat in the back seat.

“The car is full of gas,” Wade told his dad.

The old man smiled and gave Wade a thumbs up.

"Hi, boy."

Wade turned around in the passenger seat and reached out his hand to Li Qun in the back.

"Remember to give me a five-star review."

"No problem," Li Qun replied with a smile.

“I know your classmate, Peter Parker,” Wade said to Li Qun.

"Really? How do you know Peter?" Li Qun asked in shock.

“At my old friend’s housewarming party,” Wade said with a smile.

"Your old friend isn't named John Wick, is he?" Li Qun asked, his expression frozen.

"How do you know John?" Wade asked in shock.

“Peter is the middleman,” Li Qun replied.

“Wow, a friend of a friend is a friend,” Wade laughed.

The two held hands, and Wade shook Li Qun's arm vigorously.

"Fasten your seatbelt," Dad reminded Wade, patting him on the shoulder.

"I almost forgot."

Wade turned his body back and fastened his seatbelt.

"Hi, I'm so excited right now."

Wade clasped his thighs together, placing his hands between them.

The old man slowly drove the car out of the used car dealership's parking lot.

Although the Mazda already belongs to my dad, Wade's accompanying him this time is part of the car dealership's transaction process to avoid unnecessary disputes between the two parties. The car is definitely a good one.

"Wade, what are you so excited about?" Li Qun asked.

“Peter said that Mr. Chen is a kung fu master.” Wade’s smile revealed a row of teeth.

"My life is so boring."

"Can you understand this feeling?" Wade looked up at Li Qun in the rearview mirror.

“Mr. Wade, have you ever heard the saying that every seemingly mundane daily routine is actually a series of miracles happening one after another?” Li Qun said to Wade.

"The world could face destruction at any moment, but a series of miracles have saved our world from destruction."

Wade thought for a moment.

"That makes so much sense, I have to write it down."

Wade took the ballpoint pen from his chest and wrote what Li Qun had just said on his arm.

"Who said that?" Wade asked, looking up.

"I don't know, I saw it in a book," Li Qun replied.

"Ok."

Wade continued writing "written in a certain book" on his arm.

“If you find the used car sales job too boring, Wade, you might consider changing jobs,” Li Qun suggested.

"What kind of job wouldn't be boring?" Wade asked.

"A driving school instructor, teaching people how to drive?" Li Qun tried to answer.

"Hmm, it does sound pretty good."

Wade stroked his smooth chin, deep in thought.

"I'll resign as soon as I get back."

"Are you serious?" The old man turned to look at Wade.
