He walked up to the Pale Knight, drew his Kikuichimonji sword, and pressed the blade against the Pale Knight's chest.
"Can your domain still be maintained?"
The Pale Knight did not answer. The pure white domain space began to collapse.
The mirror began to shatter from the edges, and the crown fell from the dome, crashing to the ground and breaking into countless pale white specks of light.
Yuuto looked down at the Pale Knight. The Pale Knight was kneeling on the ground, his neck bound by the Spirit-Binding Chains, unable to move.
His armor was mostly shattered, and silvery-gray liquid gushed from countless wounds, dripping onto the gravel and withered branches.
"What is your name?" the Pale Knight asked.
"Kasuga Yuuto."
The pale knight was silent for a moment. “I remember.” His body began to disintegrate, his armor peeling off his torso and shattering into pieces. His mask cracked, revealing grayish-white bone fragments beneath. Silvery-gray mist seeped from the broken pieces and dissipated.
Yuuto sheathed his sword and turned to look at Tsukumo Yuki. Tsukumo leaned against a tree trunk, her Phoenix Wheels retracted into her sleeve, her long golden hair slightly disheveled by the night wind.
"Is it over?" Ninety-Nine asked.
“It’s over,” Yuuto said.
“Let’s go.” Yuuto turned and walked towards the edge of the tent. “They’re still waiting for us.”
Ninety-nine followed behind him. Their footsteps echoed through the forest.
Behind him, the remains of the Pale Knight lay scattered among the rubble and withered branches, and the silvery-gray mist had dissipated.
The curtains slowly fell, and moonlight shone through the gaps in the clouds, illuminating the ravaged forest.
At the edge of the tent, Nanami Kento sheathed his sword. A large section of the hem of his trench coat was charred, and the sleeve of his left arm was torn open, with blood seeping from the wound.
He glanced around at the battlefield. The remains of the evil creatures were scattered all over the ground, the broken bones of the skeleton guards were scattered among the withered branches and rubble, and fragments of the servants' cloaks hung on the branches, swaying gently in the night wind.
Atsuya Kusakabe sat on a rock, took a cigarette out of his pocket, put it in his mouth without lighting it, and just left it there.
"Nanami."
"Ah."
"Do you think this situation means that Yuuto and his team have already defeated the enemy?"
Nanami nodded.
The young sorcerers gathered in twos and threes. Some treated their wounds, some took inventory of supplies, and some took a breather.
Outside the tent, the barrier masters were still maintaining the barrier. The old barrier master leading the group silently made hand seals, slowly channeling his incantation into the tent.
She didn't speak or ask any questions; she just waited.
Deep in the forest, two figures emerged from the shadows.
Yuto walked ahead, his kikuichimonji tucked into his waistband, his white hair now black. Tsukumo followed behind him, the tear in her coat clearly visible in the moonlight, but a smile graced her face.
Nanami was the first to see them. Sheathed her sword and walked towards Yuuto.
"it's over?"
“It’s over,” Yuuto said.
Nanami nodded without asking any further questions.
Kusakabe paused for a moment, then nodded and didn't ask any more questions.
The old barrier master walked in from outside the tent, glanced at the ravaged forest, and then at Youren.
Where is the Pale Knight?
“He’s dead,” Yuuto said.
The old barrier master remained silent for a moment, then turned and walked out of the tent, calling out to the barrier masters outside.
"Collect the debt."
The curtains slowly fell, and moonlight streamed through gaps in the clouds, illuminating everyone. Yuuto looked up at the cool, clear moon overhead. The rain in London had stopped, and a crack appeared in the clouds, letting in moonlight that shone on his face.
He took a deep breath, turned, and walked out of the forest. Behind him, hundreds of sorcerers followed. Their footsteps echoed among the gravel and withered branches, treading on the moonlit path.
One of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The pale knight who brought great calamity to the world.
He is dead.
Chapter 137 Cleansing the Cursed Spirit
After the Pale Knight was eliminated, Yuuto and Tsukumo Yuki did not immediately return to Japan.
the reason is simple.
None of the sorcerers in Europe have reached the top level; the strongest among them are only first-level sorcerers.
This power might have been manageable against the sorcery world in the past, but things are different now. With the world's sorcery power surging and a large number of sorcerous spirits constantly appearing, the limited manpower is clearly insufficient.
“So we’ll be staying here for a while,” Yuuto said to Nanami Kento.
Nanami was organizing documents when she heard this and looked up at him. "How long?"
"We'll wipe out all the cursed spirit strongholds in Europe." Yuuto paused. "You and Kusakabe go back first."
Nanami didn't ask any further questions and nodded. He was always decisive in his actions, never asking what he shouldn't ask or saying what he shouldn't say.
Kusakabe glanced at Yuuto again, a cigarette dangling from his lips, and mumbled, "Don't die out there," before turning and leaving.
In the conference room of the London Association, representatives from various European sorcerer associations had been waiting for half an hour.
Leroy sat at one end of the long table, with a huge map of Europe spread out in front of him, marked with a dozen or so coordinates in red.
The British, German, and Italian representatives sat on either side, none of them looking relaxed.
The Pale Knight was dead, and they breathed a sigh of relief.
But after the Pale Knight died, the cursed spirit strongholds that had been suppressed by his aura began to fight back, and all the nations could not withstand it.
“Mr. Kasuga,” Leroy stood up and bowed slightly to Yuuto as he entered, “thank you for coming.”
Without exchanging pleasantries, Youren walked to the map and glanced at the red dots.
“One at a time,” he said. “Let’s start with the closest ones.”
The first outpost was deep in the forest northeast of Paris.
Yuuto didn't bring many people with him. Tsukumo Yuki accompanied him, while Nanami and Kusakabe had already returned to Japan. He only brought a few local French sorcerers with him.
Leroy originally wanted to send more people, but Yuuto refused.
“You can just wait outside,” Yuuto said.
Leroy opened his mouth, but ultimately said nothing in rebuttal. He had witnessed the battles of the elite and knew the gap between himself and them.
The forest was dark, the canopy overhead blocked the moonlight, and only scattered spots of light leaked through the gaps in the branches and leaves.
Yuuto walked at the front, with Tsukumo beside him. The Phoenix Wheel flew out from her sleeve, its golden light standing out in the darkness.
"Did you feel it?" Ninety-nine asked.
"Hmm." Yuuto stopped. He fully activated his spell perception and found a stagnant spell energy fluctuation fifty meters ahead.
There are quite a few of them, and their quality is not low either.
"Should you go or should I go?" Ninety-Nine popped a mint into her mouth.
"I'll do it. You can save your spell power."
Yuuto walked into the darkness. Tsukumo leaned against a large tree, watching his figure disappear into the shadows, crunching on her candy.
The base was larger than described in the intelligence.
Yuuto stood at the entrance of the cave, with rubble and dead branches beneath his feet.
The cursed spirits inside had sensed his presence and began to stir, their low growls echoing from the depths of the cave.
He made a hand seal with his left hand, fully activating the spirit-binding and spirit-sending techniques.
Several black cracks appeared in the void, and dozens of cursed spirits poured out from the cracks, rushing into the depths of the cave like a flood bursting its banks.
Inside came sounds of tearing, screams, and bones cracking. Yuuto didn't go in; he stood at the entrance, waiting. A few minutes later, the sounds stopped.
He turned and left.
Ninety-Nine swallowed the mint. "All done?"
"All done. Next."
The night before Nanami and Kusakabe left London, the three of them sat for a while in a bar next to the hotel.
Kusakabe, unusually, didn't have an unlit cigarette dangling from his mouth. He lit a glass of whiskey, took a sip, frowned slightly, and then took another sip.
Nanami ordered a black coffee. The waiter glanced at him, hesitated, but finally brought it over.
Kusakabe placed the whiskey glass on the table and looked at Yuuto.
The three of them sat in the bar for over an hour, discussing the upcoming mission arrangements. Nanami compiled the contact information for sorcerer associations from various European countries into a document and handed it to Yuuto.
The next morning, Nanami and Kusakabe, along with a team of first-class sorcerers, left London in a private car. Yuuto stood at the hotel entrance, watching the cars disappear at the end of the street, then turned and went back to his room.
The cleaning operation lasted a full week.
Over the next week, Yuuto and Tsukumo traveled through England, France, Germany, and Italy. They eliminated more than a dozen strongholds of varying sizes and killed countless top-tier and first-tier cursed spirits.
Upon arriving at a location, Yu Ren would first observe the terrain and then choose the most efficient way to attack.
He could take on small strongholds by himself, and a wave of cursed spirits would take care of them. For larger strongholds, he and Jiujiu would coordinate, with him taking the lead in the attack and her providing support.
Ninety-nine's spell power was greatly depleted, and the light of the Phoenix Wheel dimmed considerably, but she did not complain. Instead, after each battle, she would take out a mint candy from her pocket, unwrap it, put it in her mouth, and chew it with a crunching sound.
Then when asked about reimbursement, Yuuto always pretended not to hear.
The stronghold was hidden in an ancient, dense forest, its entrance concealed by thick vines. It took Yuuto quite a while to find the entrance, and once inside, he found only a few level-one cursed spirits and a group of low-level minions, which he easily dealt with.
Yu Ren did not draw his sword. With his left hand forming a hand seal, the Five Thunder Talisman instantly took shape at his fingertips, and lightning poured down like a torrential rain, turning several level-one cursed spirits into ashes in the lightning.
Yuuto didn't even stop, walking through the corridor illuminated by lightning and into the depths of the cave.
There was also a near-Special Grade Cursed Spirit there, enormous in size, its entire body covered in a dark red hard shell.
