When Kane arrived at the infirmary, he found that Lockhart was perfectly healthy, just lying in bed in a hospital gown eating Bananas, without missing any limbs or intelligent eyes.
He gave a slightly embarrassed chuckle when he saw Kane: "I admit, I shouldn't have been so absolute back then. If possible, I still think I should have asked you to go easy on me."
"I was going to go easy on you, like jumping off the dueling platform myself, but you didn't give me the chance."
Kane approached Lockhart, who seemed completely unaffected, and then looked at Dumbledore: "I don't see anything wrong with this guy?"
"Hmm, not in appearance, but don't you think he's aged a little bit suddenly?" Dumbledore reminded Kane.
"You can't tell from his forehead wrinkles," Kane shrugged.
“Alright, I’ll be blunt then. Lockhart had a portion of his life force drained by that book. Well, it’s not irreversible, of course. He just needs to exercise more, eat and sleep well from now on. Also, Lockhart has completely forgotten all his memories of that book,” Dumbledore said quietly.
"Tsk tsk tsk, poor Lockhart, but you could say it's a blessing in disguise. At least you've picked up magic again." Kane clicked his tongue and shook his head at Lockhart. How should he put it?
The two left the infirmary after confirming that Lockhart was alive and alright. As for how he should explain to the young wizards in class tomorrow how he was knocked unconscious by Kane with a book, that was not something they should worry about.
"Ah, it seems the trail has gone cold again," Dumbledore suddenly said in the middle of the corridor.
"Do you think that book is related to the basilisk?" Kane asked.
“After all, that strange book and the basilisk appeared at Hogwarts one after the other, so it’s hard for me not to suspect a causal relationship.” Dumbledore said, pulling the parchment that had floated out of Lockhart’s body from his pocket.
"And this thing suddenly severed its own magic just when I was about to study it, so using it to find its true form... um..."
"By the way, do you know what this parchment is? Is it just a piece of paper that's been enchanted?" Kane suddenly asked.
“Of course I know.” Dumbledore nodded. “But I don’t intend to tell you. After all, the fewer people who know about this evil magic, the better. Ideally, one day no one in this world will be able to understand this magic anymore.”
Dumbledore hummed an unknown tune and quickened his pace.
Kane desperately wanted the Riddler out of Hogwarts, but his excellent moral compass ultimately prevented him from doing so, and he returned to the Gryffindor common room instead.
Hermione remained by the fireplace, studying the genealogy of the pure-blooded English family, trying to find clues that the Slytherin heir was some evil Slytherin brat.
Kane simply greeted Hermione and went back to his dorm to sleep, hoping that Hermione might make some breakthroughs tomorrow.
The next day, Hermione made no progress in her breakthrough, but Hagrid, whether possessed by Mendel or Merlin, successfully made the rooster lay eggs, and in a row, ten baby roosters hatched in a day.
Kane hadn't gone out for a night stroll, and the next morning, just as he left the lounge, he heard a series of rooster crows.
What's going on?
Hermione walked over carrying a large book, first yawning as her opening remark: "Didn't you know that basilisks are afraid of roosters crowing?"
"Hmm...why bother with sunglasses if it's that simple? Just clear out all the little wizards and let the rooster crow at Hogwarts for a few days, wouldn't that solve the problem?"
Of course, while Kane said that, he didn't really think that the basilisk could be easily defeated by a rooster. He probably just wanted to make the basilisk uncomfortable. The idea of using a rooster to kill the basilisk was too abstract.
However, it should be possible to kill the little wizards with these roosters, so in order to prevent a little wizard from waking up to be killed by a rooster, he needs to weaken the enemy's manpower in advance.
As a dark shadow suddenly swept up the fattest and largest rooster, Kane turned around and went back to his dormitory.
We don't even need to go to the auditorium for breakfast anymore, which is quite convenient.
Back in his dorm, before Kane could even gut and pluck the rooster, a huge egg popped out of its rear end with a pop.
"Hagrid is still too extreme." He sighed softly, then suddenly thought of something strange: a rooster... laying eggs...
He then looked at Hu Jin, who was dozing off by the cage on the windowsill not far away.
Huh? You know what, you really do know, back in first grade, you used one piece of gold as if it were two. Was that because you were frugal? Bullshit, it was because you were so poor you were practically urinating blood every day.
But things are different now.
I don't have much else, but I have a lot of money. It's not unacceptable for me to make a golden birdcage for Hu Jin. After all, the first thing people do when they have money is forget their roots!
If you don't forget your roots, aren't you just wasting your money?
It just so happens that today is Saturday, and I have no classes all day, so I can take some time to go to Gringotts.
And so, around noon, just as Hermione in the common room felt she had found a clue and that the identity of the Slytherin heir was about to be revealed, something suddenly knocked on the window.
But this is the Hogwarts Tower! What could possibly knock on the glass of a tower tens of meters high?!
Oh, I just remembered, this is Hogwarts, they have flying brooms.
Hermione, who almost thought she had stumbled upon some urban legend, breathed a sigh of relief, opened the window, and let Kane and his mantis shrimp in.
"Where have you been all this time?" Hermione asked Kane, who looked travel-worn.
"Nothing much, just went to Gringotts and got three hundred Galleons." Kane casually stuffed the mantis shrimp into the little pumpkin's mouth and was about to head back to his dorm.
Hermione suddenly frowned. She knew that life at Hogwarts was cheaper than in prison, so what circumstances would require three hundred Galleons?
Just as Hermione was about to ask about her very reliable guess, Kane blurted out, "I plan to melt these three hundred Galleons into six gold nuggets to make a big birdcage for my Hugkin."
After Kane finished speaking, he rushed back to his dormitory, intending to give Hu Jin a magnificent new home.
Hermione, meanwhile, sat on the sofa and began to do some mental calculations.
Three hundred Galleons...a birdcage made of gold...
hiss.........
Okay, I can't think about it anymore, it would be impolite to think about it any further...
Chapter 124 The Joy of the Celestial Dragons is Beyond Her Imagination!
In the dormitory, Kane squatted by the fireplace. To his left was a small cauldron filled with Galleons, which melted into gold nuggets and were casually placed on the floor.
On the other side is a rooster with its eyes shaped like an X, which has been plucked, washed, and seasoned, and is quietly waiting to grow from green to mature.
Kane was busy like this until the afternoon. After finishing the golden birdcage in his dorm room, he finally stood up and stretched.
After putting Hu Jin in, they fed him a small piece of meat that was about to spoil, and then an egg fell out.
"Hmm! Making male birds lay eggs isn't just Hagrid's privilege, I can do it too!" Kane raised his eyebrows and continued to take some meat that he had accidentally obtained but had never used before from the little pumpkin's mouth and feed it to Hugin. After feeding it a total of five eggs, it fell asleep.
When Harry and Ron returned to their dormitory, this was the scene they saw. Kane was holding a half-eaten roast rooster in his left hand and a poor little rooster crepe in his right—or, to put it simply, an egg crepe.
In general, from a chicken's perspective, Kane should be considered somewhat abnormal.
In fact, it's not inferior from a human perspective either, though only in certain aspects.
Kane, who was eating the father-son soup, looked at Harry and Ron, who looked exhausted, and raised an eyebrow: "You two look like you were just dragged out by a troll. Why do you look so pathetic?"
"Don't even mention it. Luckily you didn't show up in the common room today." Ron said as he walked over to the birdcage where Kane was sitting and leaned lazily against it.
"In short, Hermione is going crazy looking for that Slytherin heir. She thinks that what you learn from books is not enough, blah blah blah, so she took the two of us to the library to find the recipe for Polyjuice Potion. She started her plan to take matters into her own hands, which is to infiltrate Slytherin to find out who that heir really is."
Kane clicked his tongue: "Why didn't you tell me about such a big plan?"
Harry chuckled awkwardly. "After all, Polyjuice Potion is a potion, and your potion-making skills... don't make us laugh."
After he finished speaking, he seemed to be fanning himself or waving his hand in silence, looking incredibly irritating.
Of course, Kane didn't concern himself with those trivial matters, but instead spoke selflessly: "What I mean is, the book you're looking for is in the restricted section... You didn't look for it in the public library, did you?"
hiss.......
Harry and Ron both let out a long hiss at the same time, as if they were the true heirs of Slytherin.
"So what does this have to do with you?"
Kane pulled a notebook from his pocket with an air of authority. It was filled with Lockhart's signed library cards. He handed a dozen to Harry and said, "Write down whatever forbidden books you want to read."
Harry took a deep breath at Kane's actions, which would have cost him his head in the Far East in 1376.
"Does this comply with the rules of Hogwarts?"
Kane frowned: "Hogwarts has that kind of thing?"
The two fell silent again. Soon, Kane seemed to understand: "You two aren't scared, are you?"
Harry and Ron weren't afraid, of course; they just hadn't expected life at Hogwarts to be so enjoyable.
Before they could even speak, Kane pulled them both away from the dorm: "Alright, alright, since you don't dare to do these fancy tricks, then let me help you. If you don't want to do the dirty, tiring, or unconventional work, then I'll do it."
Just as the three of them stepped out of the boys' dormitory building, they saw Hermione right in front of them.
"So, you two brought out Kane as an outside helper?" Hermione wasn't sure if it was impolite to say this, but she still had to say it: Kane doesn't know anything about Potions.
If Harry and Ron knew what Hermione was thinking, they would definitely defend Kane.
He knows potions way too well.
"Aren't you looking for a book that records how to prepare compound decoctions?" Kane asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes, we searched all morning...?"
Hermione had barely finished her opening remarks when Kane strode out of the lounge and headed toward the library.
Seeing this, Hermione, though unaware of Kane's intentions, followed him.
However, she still had many doubts in her heart. For example, Kane could make frog leg sandwiches out of scabies potion. Could he really be of any help with this kind of potion-making knowledge?
As it turns out, he can, he's incredibly capable!
Hermione and her two companions witnessed Kane enter the library and not waste a single second in the public book area, heading straight towards Mrs. Pince.
"Hello Mrs. Pince, I would like to ask which book contains the recipe for the compound decoction? Of course, it's for Professor Lockhart." Kane said obediently, leaning on the counter.
"Polyhydral Solution, the recipe for Polyhydral Solution is on the list of powerful potions in the Forbidden Books section, but did Lockhart give you a signed slip? We still have to go through the process."
After Mrs. Pince finished speaking, Kane took out the notebook filled with Lockhart's signature again, wrote the words "Powerful Potion" in large letters, and handed it to Mrs. Pince. Then Mrs. Pince waved her wand.
The book on powerful magic potions floated here from the forbidden section.
"Take it, the deadline is one month."
"Thank you, Mrs. Pince." After taking the powerful potion, Kane turned and went to a distant place to find Hermione and the others, handing the book to Hermione, who knew the most about potions among the three.
"Is this the book?" After Kane handed the book to Hermione, she remained silent for a moment before finally asking, "What did you give Mrs. Pince? It wasn't an arrest warrant for Azkaban, was it? Or perhaps an expulsion notice from Hogwarts?"
Kane looked at Hermione with a strange expression and hissed, "Are you out of your mind? Where am I supposed to get that kind of stuff?"
Hermione understood again: "So you forged the signature in front of Mrs. Pince?"
Kane rolled his eyes: "Does that thing even need to be faked?"
After saying that, he divided the Lockhart autographed book in his pocket into four parts, kept one for himself, and then distributed them to Harry, Harry, and the other two.
"From now on, I won't need to ask anyone to read banned books. I can just write down what I want to read."
Hermione glanced at the stack of unauthorized slips of paper in her hand...
