"Hmm..." Kane responded, then noticed a strange problem: why was Harry so quiet today? He wasn't making a sound at all.

He glanced in Harry's direction and saw him take a travel magazine during the owl swarm, looking for ferries or flights to the near-Arctic region, or even Flyronet.

He really needs a flying broom as powerful as Kane's mantis shrimp.

Unfortunately, he found none. Other cities with human inhabitants all had some gathering places for wizards, but the Arctic...

Some wizards do travel, but wizards are not Muggles and have much less curiosity about the world. They also don't build any research stations in the Arctic, so the only way to get to the Arctic is by car.

"Kane, how fast can your mantis shrimp fly?" Harry asked Kane.

"Normally, the speed is 166 miles per hour. If you want to go a little higher, you can go over 200? That's the time when the three of you were overloaded and got dizzy."

“So… England is 2,500 miles from the North Pole, and it will only take me a little over twelve hours…” Harry muttered, counting on his fingers.

Kane glanced at Harry, who was already making plans, and pursed his lips. What was that saying again?

It's a shame to encounter such a stunning flying broomstick when you're young; it's like being captivated by a mantis shrimp for life.

He quickly finished eating and headed towards the infirmary. Madam Pomfrey had just returned from dinner in the Great Hall and was arranging all sorts of potions that Snape had brewed during his vacation on the shelves.

He stopped what he was doing when he saw Kane arrive: "Is there something you need, Mr. Heath?"

Kane pulled at his lips and showed the little white dot to Madam Pomfrey: "Do you have any potion to cure mouth ulcers?"

Madam Pomfrey shook her head: "I'm sorry, Kane, but in wizarding medicine, mouth ulcers are considered an incurable disease, just like in Muggle medicine. You can only rely on your body to heal itself."

Kane let out a weak sigh and was about to leave when Madam Pomfrey, seeing how pitiful Kane was, pointed him in the right direction: "Perhaps you can use the petals of a Reming flower to cover your mouth ulcers. It's in that sunny spot outside the greenhouse. The petals of that flower have a strong absorption capacity, enough to allow you to eat normally until your mouth ulcers heal."

"However, you can't pick those plants yourself, because picking them will get you struck by lightning. In fact, every year in England and Europe, many Muggles get struck by lightning because of that stuff. Although the lightning isn't fatal, you don't want to be in the infirmary on the first day of school, so go find Professor Sprout or Hagrid."

Kane nodded. "Thank you, Mrs. Pomfrey. I'll go find Hagrid now."

After saying that, he left the infirmary and slid down the stairs to the first floor in a few steps, leaving Hogwarts. As for whether he should seek help from Hagrid or Professor Sprout, that was another matter.

Of course, that's unnecessary; his raincoat is insulated.

Kane headed straight for the area outside the greenhouse and found a plant with an appearance resembling a combination of reeds and roses, its surface shimmering with faint electric arcs. Unsurprisingly, this was a Remingflower.

Kane didn't uproot it; he only needed a single petal. So he gently pinched a petal, held the stem with his other hand, and gently pulled the petal off.

Almost instantly, a golden bolt of lightning suddenly struck down from the clear, cloudless sky. Just as Kane was staring at the lightning, intending to taste its saltiness with his raincoat, the lightning did not hit him. Instead, it veered off course and landed on the tip of Professor Sprout's wand, ultimately vanishing without a trace.

“It seems you’ve been suffering from mouth ulcers, Kane. You should have told me, after all, this plant is quite dangerous,” Professor Sprout said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Kane quickly stuck the petal to his lips, as if afraid that Professor Sprout would snatch it away and put it back inside.

"I don't mind if you come to get some plants because you need them, just be more careful next time." Professor Sprout looked at Kane and wanted to laugh, but he felt that it was not a good professor to laugh at his students, so he forced his cheekbones to remain flat and said.

"Thank you, Professor. I'm off now. Also, how come your wand also functions as a lightning rod? Is it some kind of strange magic?" Kane wanted to ask one last question before leaving.

“Oh, of course not. It’s just a simple weather charm. I only need to release a little lightning to attract the lightning from the sky. After all, I need to take care of these plants.” After Professor Sprout finished speaking, he casually waved his wand, and a light rain suddenly fell on the field, targeting only that field. Then Sprout waved his wand again, and several bolts of lightning struck down from the sky towards the Thunderflower.

Kane stared at the scene with a shocked expression; in his eyes, this magic was something completely different.

Weather Spell ×

Lightning Spell?

At that moment, he had only one thought.

"Professor, I want to learn this!"

Professor Sprant, who possessed exceptional professional skills but was naturally peaceful and lacked combat awareness, looked at Kane with suspicion. He was the only one who would plant enemies upside down in the ground and insist that they were mandrakes.

"This is just a spell to care for plants. Would you like it?"

Kane nodded vigorously, saying with certainty, "Of course, Professor. To be honest, I've only ever had two natural talents since birth: magic and farming!"

"Hmm..." Professor Sprout looked at Kane, whose eyes were full of longing for farming, and thought that it wouldn't be a bad idea to let Kane stay in the greenhouse. Since the young wizard liked it, let him come. Besides, the greenhouse was indeed short-handed because two of his best seventh-year students had graduated and left last year.

"Then come over after you finish lunch in the auditorium, as long as you don't have any classes." After Professor Sprout finished speaking, Kane gave an OK sign: "Don't worry, Professor, all my first classes in the afternoon this semester are easy classes, I promise I'll skip them! You'll see me this afternoon."

He had just finished speaking when a bell suddenly rang out from the main tower of Hogwarts.

"Wow, I have to go to class now, bye Professor Sprout." Kane said and ran quickly toward Hogwarts.

"Ah—what a wonderful little wizard!"

Professor Sprout, realizing he couldn't catch up with the little pumpkin, turned around, bent down, picked it up, pulled a flying broom from its mouth, and flew straight towards the Transfiguration classroom, sighing as he spoke.

Chapter 101 Tillage Machine

As the airflow from the drifting mantis shrimp shattered the glass of the Transfiguration classroom, Kane entered the classroom almost simultaneously with Professor McGonagall.

He hurriedly stuffed the mantis shrimp into the pumpkin and looked at Professor McGonagall with a serious expression, saying, "The bell hasn't rung for the third time yet, so Professor, I shouldn't be late, right?"

Professor McGonagall looked at Kane with a stern face. Hmm... if Gryffindor weren't short of players right now, she would definitely pull Kane in.

That level of drifting and tail-sliding would be fantastic for a chaser, it's just a shame the team isn't short of players right now. If only we had a chaser this year, just like last year when the team was short of finders...

Unfortunately, all of this was just wishful thinking. She shook her wand, repaired the glass that Kane had shattered, and stood on the podium looking at Kane: "Well, you're not late."

After saying that, she put on a serious face again: "Our progress has already started to fall behind!"

When Kane heard this, he felt he could take a short nap for the first half of the class. Fortunately, Professor McGonagall only mentioned some findings from her holiday visits to Durmstrang and Beauxbatons Schools of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

The discovery that these two schools not only had a fast teaching pace but also excellent student discipline sent chills down the spines of the young wizards in the classroom.

Hmph, so what if they learn fast? Every three years, they're guaranteed to have a dark wizard posing as a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor and then get killed by some random junior wizard at the end of the semester, right?

Do they also constantly demonstrate no-rules magic fighting in schools?

Even Voldemort had to leave his nose behind when he came to Hogwarts, a place of outstanding people and resources. Enemies would have shotguns, and friends would have to leave something behind, at the very least the Philosopher's Stone. So what if they progressed quickly or had good discipline?

If they ever come to Hogwarts to show off their power, they'll teach their invading friends a lesson in what it means to have a powerful spell and a precise staff swing.

Professor McGonagall, standing on the podium, was very satisfied with this scene. What she needed was for the young wizards to be fired up and then follow her to learn magic fiercely, fiercely!

Oh, except for Kane, he finally stopped wearing that horned hat today and put on his top hat that had been hammered into a cowboy hat again. His clothes had also changed to a dark purple patterned leather trench coat, which was much more normal than what he wore last semester.

The only downside was that he seemed to lack drive, as if what he had just said to them had nothing to do with them, even though it really didn't matter much, since there weren't any three-way championships these days.

Professor McGonagall was somewhat exasperated by Kane's lack of interest, so she had no choice but to begin today's lesson plan. However, when she uttered the first word, Kane's eyes suddenly lit up.

Okay, maybe these top students don't need pre-school motivation.

After Professor McGonagall found Kane's first instruction manual, she continued lecturing until the end of get out of class. Kane quickly finished his meal in the auditorium and headed straight for the greenhouse.

Although Professor Sprout is most likely not here at this time, as a studious young wizard, his main goal is to live a sheltered and nurturing life.

Fortunately, the weather hasn't been particularly hot lately, so it's quite comfortable.

Kane sat on a small pumpkin by the greenhouse, waiting for Professor Sprout in a daze. After a while, Professor Sprout finally arrived.

"You're here so early, Kane. I should have given you this sooner," Professor Sprout said, pulling a small brass key from his pocket and handing it to Kane.

“You can come to the greenhouse by yourself from now on. Hmm, it’s worth mentioning that you are now my only assistant.” Professor Sprout said as he led Kane into the greenhouse.

"Aren't there any other upperclassmen or upperclasswomen?" Kane followed up and asked.

“Because they always graduate, I only have two assistants every seven years. It’s a pity, though. If you had come to me last year, it would have been better.” Professor Sprout said, leading Kane around the greenhouse.

The greenhouse is very large and divided into two parts. The outer part of the greenhouse is a plot of farmland that has been cultivated directly on the ground. It looks like it hasn't been turned over for a while, as the soil has hardened and clumped together. The central area consists of shelves filled with various flower pots, such as mandrakes that are not yet fully mature.

"Unfortunately, this mandrake is very delicate. In short, it should be different from what you've heard in legends. It takes exactly one year from growth to decay, so this plant is only ever grown this year, there's no stock... Of course, that's not entirely true. Perhaps someone uses some kind of time-freezing magic, but it's obviously not worth it for a mandrake that isn't very precious."

Professor Sprout, who seemed to recall Kane having stolen mandrakes last year, stopped to explain them to Kane as they walked through this area.

"I thought this thing had a long lifespan, after all, this grass looks so old at first glance," Kane said quietly.

"It's because it ages so quickly that it only has a lifespan of one year."

After Professor Sprout led Kane around the greenhouse, they returned to the edge of the clumps of farmland outside the greenhouse.

"Although I know what you really want to learn is the Weather Charm, I still think we should start with the basics, the Tilling the Land Charm. It's a variation that combines the Flying Charm, Levitation Charm, and Manipulation Charm. If you learn it, your understanding of these three spells will be quite good."

Professor Sprout began to wave his wand, and several small hoes on the edge of the field slowly flew up and began to dig, one stroke at a time.

"I'll give you my own understanding later, and you should be able to learn it very quickly."

As soon as Professor Sprout finished speaking, Kane pulled out his wand, eager to try it out: "To be honest, Professor, I think I understand it. Can I try using some hoes?"

Professor Sprout calmly let one half of the hoe continue tilling the ground, while the other half flew to the corner of the wall and came to a steady stop there.

Kane followed Professor Sprout's example, simply combining the three spells. The difference was that because it was a compound spell, there were no fixed hand gestures or incantations, and the casting method wasn't as simple. Everything had to be calculated and simulated by his own mind.

However, thanks to Kane's new brain being quite useful, he successfully got that half of the hoe to start tilling the land after only a few experiments.

Professor Sprout was somewhat surprised to see this: "Kane, don't waste your talent. You know, your two senior classmates who just graduated were my assistants from their freshman year, and they only learned this spell in their third year."

Kane smiled shyly: "Actually, it feels pretty simple, it's just that this kind of efficiency feels a bit slow."

Professor Sprout pondered for a moment: "Perhaps you could use a larger hoe?"

Kane shook his head: "No, I was thinking about whether we could use a machine."

“You can give it a try. As far as I know, not all machines are affected by Hogwarts. After all, I once saw Severus teach with slides.”

After receiving Professor Sprout's confirmation, Kane promptly returned the half of the hoe to Professor Sprout. He then ran to a nearby place and rummaged around inside the little pumpkin for a while, pulled out the flying broom, and quickly flew back to his dormitory to bring back the alchemy engine, which he then forcefully stuffed into the little pumpkin's belly.

Then, using the small pumpkin, they made a tractor that was not much more beautiful than a wooden barrel that had come to life, and placed it on the still untouched farmland.

Professor Sprout put down his wand and looked at the simple machine in front of him with some curiosity.

"Does this thing actually work?"

"Hmm..." Kane stroked his chin. "This thing worked before. As for whether it still works now, let's experiment with it."

As he spoke, he suddenly pulled the lever on the tiller.

Chapter 102 The Fruit Fly King

With a rumbling sound, the ground in the entire area began to vibrate, and the drill bit in the center of the tiller began to move up and down due to the force released by the rope winding around it.

However, Professor Sprout saw it not as a machine, but as pure magic.

After all, the drill bit could only drill one cubic meter at first glance, but as the ground vibrated, it started by turning over the furthest piece of land, then the second piece, then the third, and in just over ten seconds, the entire field was turned over.

Afterwards, Kane used a summoning spell to lift the tiller: "Emmm, Professor, do you have any use for this thing?"

Professor Sprout realized what was going on: "Of course it's useful, of course it's useful. Wait a moment, come with me. I'll set aside a special space for this good fellow so it can rest properly."

Professor Sprout stopped in a well-ventilated, shady spot, tidied up the clutter, and then placed the tractor there steadily.
